Common Sense Is Uncommon...

Spooks: Iraq War Not Very Intelligent - Hurting U.S. Terror Fight

"The war in Iraq has become a primary recruitment vehicle for violent Islamic extremists, motivating a new generation of potential terrorists around the world whose numbers may be increasing faster than the United States and its allies can reduce the threat, U.S. intelligence analysts have concluded.

A 30-page National Intelligence Estimate completed in April cites the "centrality" of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, and the insurgency that has followed, as the leading inspiration for new Islamic extremist networks and cells that are united by little more than an anti-Western agenda. It concludes that, rather than contributing to eventual victory in the global counterterrorism struggle, the situation in Iraq has worsened the U.S. position, according to officials familiar with the classified document." <more>

There was documentary made by an Australian reporter that managed to show the difference between the Iraqi insurgence and the real extremists (the ones the Iraqis insurgents are afraid of themselves, the ones described as no soul, shark eyes, the drugged and brainwashed, mind-controlled. Wonder who created them? The ones that will kill you on sight.) Think this was on PBS.

Anyway, there is a difference from seeing the effects of what the depleted uranium did to the country in Desert Storm, being Shocked and Awed, having no jobs, electricity, clean water, sewage, poor hospitals, no schools, contractors looting your country and disrespecting your country. Troops trained for something they didn't sign up for---liberating and freeing a country, not the crap that has rolled down from their commander. Not the liberators that play both sides and blame it on the insurgents.

Think Katie will ask Condi if Victor Bout (sp) supplied both sides of the war in Iraq since there was an international ban against him? The State Dept. got it lifted for him, didn't they? Must get those bases built and keep the war going for profit and world domination.

On the other hand, seems like Fitz was only asking Walton for the same "rules" they want "enemy combatants" to have in court...amusing Walton said No

Libby lied and lied to CYA more than his own rear-keep in mind that part isn't hard to prove! Memory lapse-once maybe-but his "lapses" are consistent on the same issues-geez scooter, why so dumb? Any jury will see through that ruse

Anon at 1:53:

Thanks for the PDF file. I couldn't find what Fitz's motions in regarding to Dr. Bjork's use for the Libby defense. Glad you found it!

"The basis for the government’s objection to Dr. Bjork’s proffered testimony is that the defendant cannot meet his burden as the proponent of the evidence of establishing that the testimony will assist the jury in understanding or determining any of the facts at issue in this case."

Well, this explains why the smurf had to obtain the classified documents and why the smurf wants to take the stand. Libby was banking on the memory expert to testify. And the government rejected Dr. Bjork's being a expert witness in which Bjork's testimony has nothing to do with the fact the Libby lied. The bonehead Libby should have gotten a medical doctor and had some type of proof that Libby was suffering from memory loss medically. For an attorney, the smurf is really not clever. So, what I suspected, John Cline, one of Libby's lawyer, had to request to obtain the classified information and use graymail to box the government. Fitz is clever enough to figure that out. Fitz will have to be confident enough to win points with the jurors with confidence and charisma..

As a "test" some military goons at the pentagon decided to put him and some others with similiar problems right back in Baghdad for another tour-they are Marine reservists...the point being they want to see if it makes their problems better or worse. All I can say is these parents have a lot more patience than I.

Not only do they ask our soldiers to follow illegal orders, they don't care at all what they are doing to their young minds. And people wonder why I have such strong feelings about this cabal...going to a progressives meeting tonight-my support group-besides my fellow JB's :-)

When they drive these soldiers over the edge-will the goons be too stupid to realize they endanger themselves with their "policies" and "experiments?" And you know what? I won't shed a tear when the goons are gone.

Well, let's just hope that Judge Walton can be fair and partial in the Libby case rather than being a sell out to the judicial system. I was a bit taken back when he allowed Libby to have classified document. I realize some of the information is known to the public and some are not.. But, I'm afraid that the classified document is a national security risk. And by Walton allowing Libby's access to that classified document to jar a memory, Walton has opened the door to future cases to use Libby case as an example to obtain classified and confidential information in a case.

I have no doubs about Fitzie's intelligence, and skill at trying this case...but I don't trust that the Judge will be unbiased and not try to intefere...

I will try to think positively though...and I think it will be interesting to see how much of Fitzie's investigative work will be ultimately shared with the Plame civil suit..

Let's keep in mind that the Gerbil and company appointed Fitz as the Special Prosecutor. And there were a lot of naysayers that had doubts of Fitzgerald's appointment. Many people's minds were focused on Fitzgerald being appointed by the Gerbil Administration rather than looking at the person. Fitz proved those naysayers wrong in the leak investigation. Also, when judge Sandra Day O'Connor was appointed by Reagan to the Supreme Court unanimously, the GOP thought the conservative O'Connor was going to be pushover. O'Connor prove people wrong. She was fair and partial and spoke out against the Gerbil. So. just because Walton are friends with the Gerbil doesn't mean that he will do what the Gerbil. Actions speaking than words. So, we will see from Walton's actions that he will do the right thing.

VT Cong Candidate Calls for Arrest of Bush & Cheney by U.S. Military

Former Army Lieutenant and a candidate for Congress in VT, Dennis Morrisseau
of W. Pawlet, today called for the arrest of President Bush and Vice President
Cheney by the American military "if necessary" to prevent an unauthorized attack
upon the nation of Iran.

"American forces are apparently already active inside Iran, and Naval forces have
received orders to deploy to that country," Morrisseau said. "The President has
NO AUTHORITY to attack the nation of Iran whatsoever, in the absence of a full,
formal Declaration of War on Iran by the sitting Congress," Morrisseau said. He
said any order for an attack upon Iran or to deploy naval forces to its coastal waters
is illegal, and called upon officers of the American military to "First, refuse to obey
such an order. If the president persists and insists on ordering our forces into combat
in or over Iran without a formal Declaration of War, then I call upon you, General Pace,
as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and upon such other military officers as clearly see
their duty in these circumstances to detain both the President and Vice President,
until such time as the Congress shall act."

They haven't yet locked him up for saying this? Now that IS some good news.

Maybe it is time for "Plan B". It just ticks me off thinking I wasted so many years on a justice system I thought usually sure hasn't lately

This is from the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition's website

Kill The Messenger: A Documentary on State Secrets Privilege & U.S. Whistleblowers

by Sibel Edmonds

"'Kill the Messenger,' a documentary produced by Zadig Productions, directed by French filmmakers Mathieu Verboud and Jean Robert Viallet, is scheduled to air on Canal + in France on September 19, 2006. The film will also be aired in Belgium, on BeTV, and Australia, on SBS, this fall. The documentary explores the abuses behind the State Secrets Privilege as invoked in FBI Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds' case as well as highlighting the travails and persecution of US national security whistleblowers.

The filmmakers, Verboud and Viallet, spent nearly two years interviewing witnesses and researching the invocation and implementation of the state secrets privilege in Edmonds' case. Based on their documented findings and interviews with experts such as David Albright, Philip Giraldi, John Cole, Joseph Trento, Glenn Fine, David Rose, and others familiar with Edmonds' case, the film presents a terrifying picture of Turkish networks' activities in global nuclear black-market, narcotics and illegal arms trafficking activities in the United States, and examines the extraordinary efforts of officials within the US Government to insure that the secrecy surrounding Edmonds' case be maintained at any cost - from Edmonds' termination from the FBI, to invoking the State Secrets Privilege, to gagging the US Congress.

The film documents the formation of the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition and the collective struggle of its members to bring legislative and media attention to retaliation by national security agencies against whistleblowers, and the resulting danger such suppression of the truth causes the United States. The entrenched bureaucratic power of the United States government would rather sacrifice those who would reveal the truth than face the changes necessary to protect the nation. The filmmakers interviewed many high-profile national security whistleblowers, including Daniel Ellsberg, Coleen Rowley (FBI), Russell Tice (NSA), Bogdan Dzakovic (DHS), John Vincent (FBI), Steve Elson (FAA), John M. Cole (FBI), and Matthew Fogg, among others.

Bill Weaver commented: "H.L. Mencken once said that 'every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats'. This film makes me want to do just that. The incompetence, maliciousness, corruption, inefficacy, impudence, arrogance, and plain stupidity of the government's criminal activities toward Sibel Edmonds are a national shame. Having lived under tyranny in Iran and elsewhere, Edmonds knows what it looks like. In her case, and in many other recent cases, tyranny comes in the form of the state secrets privilege, a foolproof mechanism of the federal government to hide executive branch corruption, incompetence, and illegal activity."
I haven't found any info yet on any viewings in the US. Edmond's website is:

* One of Larisa's cousins in Florida has lived in the US for thirty years with a green card. Last week she got the usual renewal documents in the mail and went into the police station to do whatever she needed to do, and was apparently manhandled and shackled and thrown into a cell and was told that she'd be deported to the Ukraine imminently, for no apparent reason. She wasn't even allowed to phone anyone.

After she had been disappeared for 48 hours, she finally convinced some nice officer that she was in desperate need of her heart medication and was allowed to phone her family to organize for some medication.

The family was able to find a lawyer and organize a temporary stay of proceedings.

The family lived through a similar situation in the Ukraine 30 years ago.

My immediate suspicion was that the deportation has something to do with Larisa's reporting, although that was somewhat ameliorated when I learnt that there has apparently been a flurry of similar events recently. 'Another 900 people' in some indeterminate part of Florida (perhaps the State?) in Broward county alone have been given their deportation notices in the last little while since Sept 1. I'm not sure whether I find that more or less comforting.

This report was brought to you in AP format. I'll outsource my emotional response to y'all in the comments.

update: or here:

Office of the Chief Counsel
Immigration and Customs Enforcement
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
333 S. Miami Avenue, Suite 200
Miami, Florida 33130

me, I'm speechless.

Update: This from the Miami Herald:

"An increase in detentions of foreign nationals by immigration officers in Florida has led to a surge in the detainee population at the already crowded Krome facility in West Miami-Dade.

Stepped up enforcement by immigration officers has resulted in a sharp increase in the number of detainees at the Krome detention center in West Miami-Dade where the population may now exceed 1,000 -- almost double its publicly stated capacity.

Larisa report something she wasn't suppose to?

From DailyKos on George Allen:

Weekly Standard Goes Apeshit on George Allen!

If you're a Republican politician, you really know things are getting bad when a leading conservative magazine attacks you, brutally mocks you, and otherwise rips you to shreds. Well, that's exactly what has happened to George Allen, with The Weekly Standard's just-released October 2 issue. It's bad news right from the git-go, with the front-page picture of Allen and a monkey and the article's title, "George Allen Monkeys Around: Forget the presidential campaign. Can he still win his Senate race?"

Ouch. That's bad. But it gets worse.

...Then, it proceeds to denigrate Allen's time in the U.S. Senate, commenting drily that "Allen is less a skilled legislator than a talented executive." The problem, of course, is that Allen is running for re-election for 6 more years as a legislator. Whoops. As if all that's not bad enough, the magazine also points out that Allen's "top three accomplishments" in the Senate are "thin branches from which to hang a presidential bid." Not good.

Larisa on the other hand, is a true Jew and outspoken person....

That is who the Zionist World Congress of neocons hate the most. Larisa has been targeted like Henry Makow, Barry Chamish, and other outspoken true fighting patriots.

They want to round them all up first before "New World Order". Only they will find that won't be possible, its the Zionazis who are going to be round up.

In order for the film directors to get people to see the documentary are two ways: If they want in a theater, it would have to be an independent theater and the distributors to endorse the movie will have to be a independent distributor such Lion Gates Film, or the Weinstein brothers or the other independent distributors outside of the U.S.. Of the film directors can sell the documentary via internet through word of mouth. Their best bet is to sell the documentary online. The more people buy the movie and watch it, the more people will demand it to be in the movie theater. But, it is an important documentary to see.

The Gerbil was on CNN. His comment to Blitzer was very disturbing:

The Gerbil said that it's just a comma

BLITZER: Let's move on and talk a little bit about Iraq. Because this is a huge, huge issue, as you know, for the American public, a lot of concern that perhaps they are on the verge of a civil war, if not already a civil war…. We see these horrible bodies showing up, tortured, mutilation. The Shia and the Sunni, the Iranians apparently having a negative role. Of course, al Qaeda in Iraq is still operating.

BUSH: Yes, you see — you see it on TV, and that's the power of an enemy that is willing to kill innocent people. But there's also an unbelievable will and resiliency by the Iraqi people…. Admittedly, it seems like a decade ago. I like to tell people when the final history is written on Iraq, it will look like just a comma because there is — my point is, there's a strong will for democracy. (emphasis added)

Tell that to the 2,700 dead soldiers, 20,000 injured soldiers, dead Iraqi citizens, dead journalists, dead people from Flight 93, 3,000 people who lost their lives in the WTC, 9/11 families, and families who lost love ones in Afghanistan and Iraq!!!

More on George Allen today from Salon:

"Three former college football teammates of Sen. George Allen say that the Virginia Republican repeatedly used an inflammatory racial epithet and demonstrated racist attitudes toward blacks during the early 1970s.

"Allen said he came to Virginia because he wanted to play football in a place where 'blacks knew their place,'" said Dr. Ken Shelton, a white radiologist in North Carolina who played tight end for the University of Virginia football team when Allen was quarterback. "He used the N-word on a regular basis back then."

There have been so many signs before this that raise red flags... and anyone that opposed a state holiday honoring Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr makes me suspicious...

Dear NSA,

If you are still reading everyone's computer messages, please tell your fellow Spooks that they should have thought about getting a spine to stand up to the higher ups who run this country more than three years ago. Anyone with a basic understanding of Islamism could have predicted all of this back in 2003 and lots of people *did* predict that. Also, take a look as this quote:

"Negroponte said: "My colleagues and I still view the global jihadist terrorist movement, which emerged from the Afghan-Soviet conflict in the 1980s but is today inspired and led by al-Qaeda, as the preeminent threat to our citizens, homeland interests and friends."

Please tell Negroponte that the origins of the current global jihadist movement go back twenty years earlier than the 1980s and they did not start in Afghanistan. He has the wrong time and the wrong place which thus leads to the wrong understanding.

Lastly, please tell the American people to DEMAND more money for education because better knowledge and understanding about other peoples, countries, and cultures prevents a whole hell of a lot of killing.

Thank you.

Rest now in hell where you belong.

1.To blog on anonym, is one way to be in anonymity.
2. Subsequently to say, it was't anonym, is to emphasize your own EGO

That's you have to say to the people !!
