Alot Cheaper Than A BJ Investigation...

Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald's three-year CIA/Leak investigation has cost the taxpayer the least amount of any Justice Department probe by an Independent Counsel in history.

NBC News has learned, that since the start of Fitzgerald's investigation of the Valerie Plame leak, beginning in December 2003, the total cost to be reported to the GAO is about $1.5 million.

By contrast, the decade-long probe of former Clinton Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros by Independent Counsel David Barrett, cost about $23 million.

Fitzgerald's office has incurred only about $400 thousand in total expenses above the salary and benefits for the personnel working for him.

The Ken Starr investigation of Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky cost the tax-payer $64 million.

Why doesn't Bush just rule that he and his friends can commit crimes and not be charged. Bush should dismiss this case himself. If he allows the constitution and the courts to handle it Libby will go to jail. I always said the fake death of Ken Lay worked do it again with Libby. But when the Dems get control well the DOJ will need more attorneys for all the criminal cases charged to the elected officials.

This is super-insane. Congress knows how to count. These guys all know their numbers, magical or not, they know how to add and subtract and they know where the money is going: into the pockets of the very rich who are investing in war. Carlyle nearly exclusively invests in war and former prime ministers and presidents all have latched onto this group so they can get rich if we spend like drunken sailors while at war.

War profiteering destroys empires. This is why successful countries all prevent this. They execute Daddy Warbucks. Or they end up on the dustheap of history. Which is what bin Laden predicts will be where we will sit and rot in less than five years.

Oh as to Bin Laden being dead he was reported dead by the US govenment with kidney failure then of course he did a tape so that lie blew up in the face of this Administration. Now he's dead again right before the election this way to draw him out with another tape so the GOP can say look he's going to attack America vote Republican to save us all. The conflict in Iraq the treats to Iran and all the new terror groups but still Bush is a PR man for Osama. Karl Rove is most likely working on a tape to push in front of the media to push up the poll numbers. The reality for Americans will be when they see the pictures of the torture done to men/women yet the faces will be our troops not the Iraq prisoners. Then Americans will see that they were followed the Devil aka Bush as the true Axis of Evil.

The Cost of Iraq War calculator is set to reach $318.5 billion September 30, 2006, the end of fiscal year 2006. The Cost of Iraq War calculator is occasionally reset based on new information and new allocations of funding. The numbers include military and non-military spending, such as reconstruction. Spending only includes incremental costs, additional funds that are expended due to the war. For example, soldiers' regular pay is not included, but combat pay is included. Potential future costs, such as future medical care for soldiers and veterans wounded in the war, are not included. It is also not clear whether the current funding will cover all military wear and tear. It also does not account for the Iraq War being deficit-financed and that taxpayers will need to make additional interest payments on the national debt due to those deficits.

Hello you all:

Here are my thoughts:

The cost of Fitz's case vs. Kenneth Starr's case is comparing apples to oranges. Starr's case with Monica/Clinton lasted less than a year and cost 64 million. Starr's 64 million dollar budget consist of hiring outside attorneys in which Starr had to pay before and after the case. And there weren't working the case pro bono! On the other hand, Fitz's case in which is almost a 3 year old case cost 1.5 M which consist of a small amount of federal employees that were working the leak case as well as their own jobs. The MSM do a really poor job giving the public a half bake truth on how much time that the people spent that are involved in the case and how much time that they juggle their busy schedules to work the case.

Everything in life cost money. The real question is what results will be in turn and will it serve for the benefit for the American people. You have to ask: is the billions of dollars allocated to Iraq benefiting the U.S. financially? Did the money and time that Starr spent on the Monica case really was worth it?

The MSM is once against asleep at the wheel on facts and still try to do damage control and give doubt to Fitz's case. And about Libby's so called victory on getting classified documents submitted in his case. What the MSM won't say is that the Gerbil went on T.V. and said that in July 18, 2003, he released classified documents to the public. So, some of the classified documents that Libby has were already known to the public thanks to the Gerbil.

The more this case get closer to trial, the more backlash and distortion by the MSM. And I do know that this strategy by Libby and his lawyers, John D. Cline and Ted Wells will backfire. Both Cline and Wells are still using the graymail strategy. If Cline got his ex-client, Oliver North's case dismissed from the Iran-Contra in 1986 by using graymail, he is trying to use that same tactic will his current client, Scooter. Libby can have all the classified documents in the world including the PDB, the bottom line is that he lied to the investigators and GJ. And the 12 jurors have to prove whether he is innocent or guilty based on the facts not on how many classified information that Libby can get a hold of or how stressful that he was from his job!

That's my 2 cents. Be back later!

US threatened to bomb Pakistan after 9/11, in which Pervez Musharraf tells 60 Minutes that "the intelligence director told me that [Richard Armitage] said, 'Be prepared to be bombed. Be prepared to go back to the Stone Age.'" This shouldn't even be a story, as Armitage's threat was reported as early as September 12, 2001 in Deutsche Presse-Agentur. Furthermore, it's only a second-hand account. What is worth reporting is whose hand it was. This unnamed intelligence director was none other than Mahmood Ahmed, Pakistan's 9/11 paymaster, who famously authorized ISI-al Qaeda double agent Omar Saeed Sheikh to wire $100,000 to Mohammed Atta just weeks before the attack. I say "famously," though it is only to us, because it's one of a multitude of facts that create an alternate map of the world that seems to convey a true landscape, but that is so unlike the one which most people have been dulled into accepting they inhabit.

Where's Omar Saeed?

This is news now because Bush is talking about sending in U.S. troops into Pakistan if the intel is good enough to snag OBL. That was not an option before. Musharraf came to power in a coup and at anytime, he could be replaced in another coup and unlike Thailand, coups generally tend to be very bloody. If Musharraf just turned over OBL, his country could erupt into violence because there are enough folks in Pakistan who support OBL. But, if Musharraf is given the opportunity to say 'the U.S. made me do it' then that should prevent violence in Pakistan aimed at Musharraf.

I would not be surprised at all if before Nov. 7th, OBL is finally snagged and bagged, with the appearance that Pakistan did not help.

Well if this CIA/PLAME case yields amazing results then I would say the 1.5 was a good thrifty investigation cost in comparison to other high profile cases in recent history...

However if it fades to dark with this administration unscathed then not only was it a waste of money but gerbil once again shows his contempt for the laws of the United States..

So Now this begs a question to the American people now:

"Other than a gun in my face by the police, why should I follow any law if my own government refuses to ?"

The results that gerbil is setting for the American people will cause us one way or the other to head into an ANARCHY to which once that genie is let out, there will be no putting it back!

I made the post at 11:06 and it was an honest question. I have nothing to do with politics and I know nothing of anybody named Roger. My name is Gerhard Traaske and I now live in Texas. I am 52 years old and immigrated to this country in 1987 from Austria. English is not my native tongue so perhaps I do not completely understand when I am being made a fool of.

I found this site by searching on Patrick Fitzgerald to see what news there was.

You seem like a very close club that talks more than anything. I can get that on a hundred blogs. I thought this was the real. Sorry.

Bush has done so much damage to the world and sitting around and waiting for some knight in shining armor who keeps saying "wait," is a foolish pastime.

I still have friends and family in Austria and they feel like it is Fascism all over again. They are terrified that Bush representing the greatest country on Earth will follow the same path as another Austrian did once. My parents waited too long then and I think maybe Americans are waiting too long now.

Just my feeling as a former foreigner.

I won't mince any words..

Your analysis is correct. I'd say leave the country or go through it again...

Howevery, this is only a temporary solution...

Fact is that the whole world is eventually following the US/UK into a Global version of Nazi Germany's Corporatism(Fascism).

That's what the NWO is all about so in my opinion America and the UK may lead the way right now, but the rest of the world will catch up with the signing of the EU Constitution and other Unions being formed now.

It will be eventually be worldwide!

What you're seeing in America is unique however because in order for the NWO to take America they have to do these Attritions against our Constitution in order to destroy it...

That's the only way to force our Union into the planned NWO..

I hope that explained your question.

FORT MONMOUTH, N.J. -- The world will never be the same again. The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon Sept. 11 have changed everything; from our sense of security to how we get to work.

"There was a plan in place, but we went from 0 to 60 overnight, so to speak," said Lt. Col. Stephen N. Wood, Garrison commander, here. "By sheer coincidence we were scheduled to conduct "Timely Alert II," a force protection exercise on Sept. 11 and because of that, some of the concrete barriers were already in place."

Wood said people on post told him when they first saw live footage of the events unfolding at the World Trade Center, they thought it was some elaborate training video to accompany the exercise.

Firefighters here said others told them the same thing. "You really outdid yourself this time," a worker said to Captain "Jack" Rindt, training officer for the Fort Monmouth Fire Department. Rindt could only express his sorrow while he acknowledged that indeed, what people were seeing was not a movie, even if it looked like one.

Pure evil.

Same thing said about the Germans. It was incomprehensible that a whole population could be seduced to allow the atrocious things the Nazis did. But Goerbels was very good. The enemies the Nazis created were the leverage they needed to rouse the population. The evils of the Bolsheviks, Jewish bankers, and the inferior mongrel races all were used to give Germans a sense of superiority. Today, in America, we have substituted the evils of Muslims (Middle East), Communists (N. Korea), and liberalism. Same thing, different package.

The atrocities committed against the Russians were easy for Germans to do as they were convinced the Russians were NOT human beings. So easy to shoot a dog or abuse it without compromising one's principles.

FORT MONMOUTH, N.J. -- The world will never be the same again. The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon Sept. 11 have changed everything; from our sense of security to how we get to work.

well sorry but things have happened all around the world just as bad and even worse......
Americans are not the only people who feel pain..
the deeds on eachother within this rich country and the inhumanity to our fellows within our own borders of neglect, poor health care, destoying the environment, are the things we should be concerned about..

I see 911 as the time Amerca felt the pain of the world first hand ..and our leaders are using the issue to inflict more death and destruction rather than diplomacy to help bring peace to the world..an excuse to raid resouces of other countries..
taking that which does not belong to them..where is the christianity

Good evening folks!

"If there's a Terrorist attack on America in October, couldn't we conclude that porkrind(rove) has foreknowledge(October Surprise) of State sponsored Terrorism and is an accessory to plans by this administration for political gain and maneuver?"

GEF:

Porkrind is just given hype to the media and the GOP. By the Gerbil passing that torture bill and tweaking the domestic spying, the Gerbil still wants to continue his hidden agenda and of course wants to invade Iran. We will continue to hear the rhetoric GOP spin between now and November. The GOP are using desperate measures.

"Well if this CIA/PLAME case yields amazing results then I would say the 1.5 was a good thrifty investigation cost in comparison to other high profile cases in recent history..."

Yes, I agree. We all want to look for the results not how much money was spent in the leak case. There is always a price of success and a price for failure. And the 1.5M spent in the leak case will be worth every dime to put the evildoers behind bars. I don't see why people are complaining about the cost of this case. In order to have a McDonald's franchise, it cost 1 million for a McDonald's franchise. But, there are some people who are willing to taking a risk to have a McDonald franchise because they know that they will get the results from their investments. And it is because there is a proven system in place in McDonald that will bring successful results. And so will this leak case. The investment and time in the leak case to catch the evildoers for good will get good results. And the budget from the leak case is peanuts compare to other high profile case including the recent Lay/Skilling case. No want to talk about how much Lay and Skilling paid their attorneys for the Enron case.. And how much did the investigation into Enron cost???

It's what I call the Kobeyashi Maru for Fitz...

Kobeyashi Maru = Star Trek Terminology for Captains who have to face the "No Win Scenario" in a training exercise and hope to defeat it to test their Command Abilities...

This is like their final exam before they take command of an actual ship...

Most Captains in Training fail the Kobeyashi Maru because the Computer knows in advance their every move....

Only by either reprogramming the simulation or creating an unlikely profiled maneuver can a Captain hope to defeat the computer and save the simulated ship!

It is called in Corporate America: being screwed by the big cheese and called office politics!

Fitz had to know what he was up against when he accepted the position as the Special Prosecutor. it always come with a price of succes or failure. Thar is anything in life. He is dealing with corrupted people who deal with nothing but politics. I am sure that when they did their background check on Fitz, they saw white bread American (no offense) with Irish roots with a squeaky clean record and thought that Fitz can fit into that circle of WH politics. But, because Fitz has always kept his integrity and said that he plays no role in politics and he is there to do a job, that didn't make the Administration too thrill about the Rugby man unfortunately. And because Fitz won't play the game of politics with the Administration, his bosses will do everything that they can to discredit him. Fitz has to be a strong enough person to outsmart the foxes professionally. I realize that he is dealing with people that are up in the food chain that are working against him but that is the name of politics. That type of politics can either make or break you and that they try to find a person's weak spot to discredit a person.

I'm getting closer to writing the brief against them everyday...its in my head- time to put it on paper-so the next time they slame Fitz and lie about the war on the same day-well, that should do it;-)

No, they shouldn't...unless they are illegally spying on him-according to his letter of plenary authority he doesn't answer to Gonzo or inform them of investigation particulars-or tell them who is under investigation so the only ones he really answers to is the GAO-for his budget purposes-and they have no problem with the way he has spent this investigations money.

As far as discredit, wouldn't worry about that either. Those guys have used up their own credibility, big time G'Night All

Shamrock won't only do GEF. There is a movie that I saw sometime ago that relate to office politics and corruption within corporate America. The character in the movie had to be clever enought to find someone from the inside (a mole) that he could trust to be on his side. And it wasn't someone from the top of the food chain but lower on the chain of someone that you least suspected. Fitz will be fine as long as he keep strong and outsmart the smart. And I hope you have a good evening.

End of the New American Century?

In America at present, a completely un-American debate is germinating: Is it time for neo-conservatism's obituary?

September 6, 2006

If political theories have an address, the address of neo-conservatism reads 1150 17th Street NW, Washington, DC. There on the fifth floor in rather ordinary-looking offices reside a half dozen right-wing intellectuals, who supply a steady stream of arguments for the propagation of democracy and a world dominated by America. The little club is called The Project for the New American Century . In 1997 nearly every important American neoconservative signed the club's founding charter. The thinking that evolved here then circulated amongst a group of friendly think tanks. With the election of George Bush to the presidency and especially after 9/11, the significance of the think tank increased, even if the staff size remained small. Neo-conservatism was a dominant force in American foreign policy, and the network of friends had become a network of power.

Now, nine years later, the Project for the New American Century is closing – due to a shortage of funds, it is said. Those that remain there are looking for work. Their ranks are thinning. The New American Century has taken too long to arrive. An ideology is packed up and in moving crates. One couldn’t have a sight more pregnant with symbolism.

One needn't look long for the crisis of neo-conservatism. The magic word is Iraq. The central project of this foreign policy school, the democratic transformation of Mesopotamia [Iraq], has not gone as hoped. Theory didn't withstand contact with reality, and that reality has now swept away some theoreticians. And at the same time, a harvest of new treatises is emerging.

The American military must be used to help assure this breakthrough for democracy: Weapons as tool of moral power and America as good-natured hedgemon, performing a public service for the entire world.

Blogger Suzie-Q (S-Q) said...

Read this again...closing due to a shortage of funds? I don't think so...come on, their members are all multi-millionaires...I think it has something to do with Scooter Libby being a member of PNAC..

Now, I have to ask myself...why DID Libby lie to investigators?
Was he covering up more than just a CIA leak? What if the PNAC planned the Iraq war? What if the PNAC wanted to make Joe Wilson shutup, so they could have their planned war?

PNAC wanted another "Pearl Harbor"...which is stated in documents on their website...

Hello you all,

I saw Clinton on Meet the Press. Very impressive. I like Clinton's answer to Russett about the use of the severe torturing method such as waterboarding. He said that as long as that type of method doesn't violate the Geneva and that his opinion is that he would have talked to experts on those type of methods. In addition, Clinton said that waterboarding is a severe type of torturing but military is allowed to use that type of method ONLY if the national security of the U.S. is in danger. It is interesting that he says that because the Gerbil has allowed the CIA the authority to those severe types of torture when it should be the military in charge. And this explain why there is many lawsuit pending and rising by the detainees. We have an uneducated President who was drunk in the military to make decision on terrorism.. I have a feeling that Bubba will be appointed in some position in the UN when Kofi Annan is gone in December.
