KUALA LUMPUR (XFN-ASIA) - European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East ahead of US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's expected return to the region.

I see that he didn't invite the contestants the Dancing with Stars.. I will reat what I said on a prior posting that most Americans want to be entertained and not educated. And the Gerbil is showing that example! He won't talk to Cindy Sheehan nor invite her to the WH but he can invite the American Idols folks! Truly, it is sad!
I wonder how people from other countries react when this man goes on as like there is nothing wrong in his world?

From today's New York Times:
The State Department agency in charge of $1.4 billion in reconstruction money in Iraq used an accounting shell game to hide ballooning cost overruns on its projects there and knowingly withheld information on schedule delays from Congress, a federal audit released late Friday has found....
An example:
The hospital’s construction budget was $50 million. By April of this year, Bechtel had told the aid agency [the United States Agency for International Development] that because of escalating costs for security and other problems, the project would actually cost $98 million to complete. But in an official report to Congress that month, the agency “was reporting the hospital project cost as $50 million,” the inspector general wrote in his report.
The rest was reclassified as overhead, or “indirect costs.” According to a contracting officer at the agency who was cited in the report, the agency “did not report these costs so it could stay within the $50 million authorization.”
$48 million here, millions more there, and pretty soon you're talking real money.

I wont say I told you so but Israel is very close to bombing Syria. Now lets see if bombing a country is legal in the Bush policy. How will Syria react or will Israel say they again have deep regret and move on. Blair's saying one thing Connie isn't saying anything she's just delivering the message. No one knows anything no one wants to talk to Hezbollah, Iran or Syria yet they want a peace agreement. Isn't talking the first thing to do toward peace. This set of the Kanzlerin points one out of the large misinterpretations concerning the entire Middle East conflict. Of Israel existence right, which is not doubtable publicised like a large dogma again and again as. It is correct that Israel has an existence right, and a destruction of Israel is wrong. It is in addition, correct that this existence right refers exclusively to the borders 1967 ago. Israel is not right to the areas occupied since then.

Gerbil: David, it's an interesting period because, instead of having foreign policies based upon trying to create a sense of stability, we have a foreign policy that addresses the root causes of violence and instability.
For a while, American foreign policy was just, Let's hope everything is calm - kind of, managed calm. But beneath the surface brewed a lot of resentment and anger that was manifested on September the 11th.
And so we have, we've taken a foreign policy that says: On the one hand, we will protect ourselves from further attack in the short run by being aggressive in chasing down the killers and bringing them to justice.
And make no mistake: They're still out there, and they would like to harm our respective peoples because of what we stand for.

After being one of the most inept national security advisers in the nation's history, Condoleezza Rice is now earning the same grade as secretary of state.
Her description of the conflagration in Lebanon as the "birthpangs of a new Middle East" was about as callous as it gets, matched only by Bush's remark that the conflict represents "a moment of opportunity." The 400 Lebanese who have died, an overwhelming number of them civilian and many of them children, were not feeling any birthpangs. They were feeling deathpangs.
Nor were families of the Israeli victims (about 50 so far, and most of them soldiers) cheering the new day, either.
Rice's cruel opposition to an immediate cease-fire has left the whole world outside of Israel (and Tony Blair's kennel) aghast.
And U.N. Ambassador John Bolton's sneering about a cease-fire not being "the alpha and omega" only reinforced the arrogance.
More than half a million people in Lebanon have been turned into refugees in just a matter of weeks.
Israelis are bunkered in bomb shelters.
And all Rice can do is issue hollow words of concern and then sabotage any immediate cease-fire?
The expediting of U.S. bombs to Israel at the same time sent an all too obvious message. Did they fly in carriage on the same plane that took Rice to the region? Is she bringing another load with her this time?
As Rice did in the lead up to the Iraq War, so she is doing now: She's drinking her own propaganda.
The Iraq War was going to redraw the map of the Middle East.
Now the Lebanon War is going to do the trick?
The Iraqi people were going to welcome the Americans with open arms.
Now the Lebanese people are going to rise up and somehow defeat Hezbollah when Israel can't even do the job?
Politically naïve, Rice also appears woefully jejune about human nature.
When people are being attacked by a foreign power, they rarely rally to that foreign power's side.
And when a group in their midst fights back against the invaders, that group doesn't lose support, it gains support.
The United States and Israel have succeeded only in making heroes of Hezbollah thugs.
Rice's green light for Olmert's spilling of red blood has managed only to further enrage the Arab and Muslim world and isolate the United States among its allies (except, of course, for Tony Blair, who is still wagging his tail and licking Bush's face).
It is not in the interests of the United States, and it is not in Israel's interests either, to show the international community utter disdain. And the war crimes of Israel, and Rice's blessing of them, will long be remembered.
Where was Condoleezza Rice when Israel bombed the only power plant in Gaza, bringing about a humanitarian crisis?
Where was Condoleezza Rice, when Israel inflicted collective punishment on the sovereign people of Lebanon?
Where was Condoleezza Rice, when Israel was killing more than 100 Lebanese children?
Condoleezza Rice was in Israel's corner.
For five and a half years, Rice did nothing about the most serious problem in the Middle East, and now she's done worse than nothing.
Rice believes in is the diplomacy of the F-16.
And that style of diplomacy is crashing and burning.
Well, Brown Shug is nothing but concubine to the Gerbil and that is how she gotten her two positions in the WH. The international leaders are now really seeing brown Shug for who she is an imbecile, unqualified, a puppet mouthpiece to the Gerbil! And the expensive Farragamo shoes and expensive dress won't help that girl. The international leaders know that Shug never earned leadership. She was given a title!

I remembered attending a conference and the key note speaker said that anyone can be givena title. But leadership cannot be given. Leadership is earned! A real leader as Dale Carnegie says in the book, How to Win Friends and Influence People, that never criticize, comdemn, or complain to others. Take a look at the so-called leaders of the Gerbil Administration. Leaders lead and know where they are going. This Administration have no idea where they are going and they don't know how to lead.

The Gerbil's strategy is use his reason for a new law of the form of terrorism. Yes, he will reinterate his reasons through the Patriot Act. The Gerbil is certainly taken away all rights from the U.S. Citzens. That is why there is still detainees from overseas that are in Guantanamo Bay locked up for no reason and stipped their rights. The Gerbil is trying to do the same for the U.S. citizen. His new law is simply stating that if a U.S. citizen is suspected (no charge or no evidence) with ties of terrorism, then you are held without a trial or an attoney. The innocent until proven guilty is out the window according to the Gerbil's new law! As GEF stated, it is all about silencing the people who are against him and his agenda!

That's true my friend, but, that depends if certain people are on the Gerbil's side, then those certain people get those toys. Do you actually think that Fitz will be giving those types of toys??? I don't think so unless he would sell himself to the devil, or become a suckup. He would never do that in a million years. You are right. There are lots of money but it depends on which Dept. that the defense favors!
We certainly need to clean house first and have some of those money allocated to the Fitz and DOJ office.

On July 28th, 2006 NORAD announced that it would effectively close the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, as the facility is no longer cost effective. The exodus signifies a push to adapt to the new, different types of military threats that the country faces (while the Cheyenne Mountain facility was mainly designed to identify and respond to major attacks brought on by large, centralized powers, the most imminent dangers today come usually in smaller bursts and from organizations that are increasingly decentralized). The closure is expected to save $250-$350 million per year, on top of the money earmarked for its costly modernization. Over the next few years, some NORAD and USNORTHCOM military and civilian positions at Cheyenne Mountain will be relocated to NORAD and USNORTHCOM headquarters in Bldg. 2 on Peterson Air Force Base. The mountain will be actively kept up and can be reactivated again almost immediately should the need arise.

Hmmm, I wonder if that mean that Israel will not even do an 'unofficial' unannounced temporary cease fire against Beruit just long enough for Shug to have a meeting . . .
Israel probably has no intention of letting up against Hezbollah. Their intent is to crush Hezbollah right away, so that they cannot hang around long enough to start an insurgency like the folks in Iraq are doing against the U.S. That is why there is no cease fire yet. Any talk of 'talks' are just stall tactics.
The catch is, Hezbollah is already holding out longer than most folks predicted. That probably means they got underestimated. Sound familiar?
The longer this lasts, the better the chances are that Israel vs. Hezbollah could turn into the U.S. vs. Iraq. What a huge mess, and waste of human life.
Just to be crystal clear, this:

Your right the longer this goes on it because worse but the real reason Bush is stalling is to get a reaction for Iran/Syria but it wont happen. Connie is clue less and has no idea what she's doing so that's why she doesn't want to stay. This is an example of stupid leadership based on wrong information. Look Iran and Syria knew what Bush was up to and they had their spies just like the US use to have. Remember the CIA leak and the all the agents that resigned. We don't have information but they do. They know exactly what Bush is up to and their playing him for the fool he is. As for Irsael killing innocent woman/children/UN peace keepers with only the words deep regret but you must hate those who hurt or kill a person in Israel well somethings really wrong here. When did life mean if your Lebanese or UN peace keeper your life is nothing more that a deep regret but if your from Israel life is valued more. I thought we were all God's children I guess Israel knows more then me.
