CREW FEC COMPLAINT AGAINST REP. DELAY PAC – ARMPAC – RESULTS IN $115,000 FINE

One of Largest Fines in FEC History

Washington, DC – Last night, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) released a conciliation agreement reached with Americans for a Republican Majority political action committee (ARMPAC) stemming from a complaint Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed against the PAC last August. As a result of CREW's FEC complaint, ARMPAC has agreed to pay a $115,000 civil penalty and go out of business. ARMPAC was created and led by former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX).

This is one of the 50 largest fines ever obtained by the FEC in its 30-year history.

The FEC found that:

--ARMPAC failed to report accurately nearly a quarter million dollars in contributions and expenditures during the 2001-2002 election cycle.

--ARMPAC failed to report nearly $325,000 in debts owed to 25 campaign vendors.

--ARMPAC improperly used over $200,000 in soft money to pay for federal election activity. In particular, ARMPAC improperly used over $120,000 in soft money to pay for GOTV activities in Texas immediately before the 2002 general election.

CREW’s executive director, Melanie Sloan, stated, “the conciliation agreement reached between the FEC and ARMPAC shows a clear pattern of abuse of campaign finance laws.” Sloan continued, “on a disturbingly regular basis we learn that former House Majority Leader DeLay violated the law. From the Jack Abramoff scandal to the violations of Texas campaign finance laws, to Rep. DeLay’s misuse of charitable organizations, the list seems endless. It is time for federal investigators to step in and undertake a thorough investigation of Rep. DeLay’s financial dealings so that the public can learn the true extent of Rep. DeLay’s illegal activities and he can be held accountable.”

White House spokesman still waiting for security clearance

In a daily press briefing on Wednesday, when asked about American knowledge of the missile threat from Hezbollah, Snow responded "No, I don't know what the intelligence is. I literally don't know what the intelligence was before the fact, and until my security clearance clears, I'm not going to have access to it. I'm told it's a few more weeks. No, that's true. You come here, you're a new guy, you've got to get the clearances."

What is hell is wrong with the Gerbil having Tony Blowjob doing a job as WH press secretary without a security clearance? You might as well give the terrorists employment papers and free access in this country! Dumb, dumb, dumb!

House committee investigates Abramoff-White House links

A story in today's Roll Call reported that Reps. Tom Davis (R - VA) and Henry Waxman (D - CA) issued a subpoena that sought e-mails, billing records and other documents from several firms linked to the former lobbyist. The members of Congress seek to explore "all documents that reflect contacts by Mr. Abramoff or his associates" with President George W. Bush, Karl Rove, and other White House and broad range of other current and former executive branch officials.

Other current or former White House aides from whom the committee wants information on any Abramoff-related contacts include: Ken Mehlman, now Republican National Committee chairman; Susan Ralston, Rove’s assistant who had worked for Abramoff before going to the White House; Nick Calio and David Hobbs, both former heads of the White House legislative affairs shop; Jack Oliver, one of Bush’s top fundraisers; Jack Howard, a former deputy assistant to the president for legislative affairs; Barry Jackson, one of Rove’s top aides; Eric Pelletier, deputy assistant to president for legislative affairs; Ziad Ojakli and Matt Kirk, both of whom worked in the legislative affairs office; and dozens of others.

And I hope that they will probed into the ties between Grove Norquist and Porkrind!

And:

Here is what the Gerbil talkes about at the NAACP Convention:

From Thinkprogress:

Bush Uses NAACP Speech To Promote Estate Tax Repeal, Doesn’t Utter The Word ‘Poverty’

Speaking on behalf of his friend, multi-millionaire conservative BET founder Bob Johnson, Bush used the opportunity to promote the repeal of the estate tax on the ultra-rich:
One of my friends is Bob Johnson, founder of BET. He’s an interesting man. He believes strongly in ownership. He has been a successful owner. He believes strongly, for example, that the death tax will prevent future African-American entrepreneurs.

Nothing changed with the Gerbil. He came there with a political agenda to go on the chitlin circuit estate tax repeal! What I find irritating is his mention about his buddy and sell out Bob Johnson. Johnson sold out a black controlled company like BET to Viacom! No one the Tavis Smiley left BET/Viacom. But, that was one of the longest and successful African-American owned company with many Afro-American viewers. A lot of my collegues were pretty upset with Johnson handing Viacom his empire. And many people are still upset of the buyout of BET! But, I knew that the Gerbil would use a sellout person to agree to attend the NAACP. Johnson is no different than Shug. Both came from poverty and forgot who they are as people and where they are going! And one thing that the Gerbil didn't address is the poverty among the Afro-American commumnity. But addressed entrepreneurship. Hmmm.. If the lame duck Gerbil did his homework, I would ask him: what is the percentage of African-American who have jobs today in a high paying jobs , how many blacks own their own business and for a least 5 years or more, how many black women own their own business and for a least 5 years or more, and how many black women have job to today in a high paying job, how many young black people want to own a business, have their own business or have a high paying jobs?

You have police officers, firefighters, FBI, NSA, and DHS, and so on that have to go through a background checks and here you have an idiot like Blowjob that is wandering around the WH commode portraying a press secretary without a security clearance card? And why are paying all of this money to stop terrorism? We have a bumbling idiot and racist WH press secretary that could be the next axis of evil! Why? We don't who this man is. He doesn't have a security clearance card! And why is he getting a paycheck in the meantime? We shouldn't all be carrying around IDs or drivers license either. We can just tell the bank teller or the police officer that we are waiting for our ID or driver's license like our WH press secretary is waiting for his security clearance!

AP) Two women and two young boys found dead after a house fire all died of wounds to the neck, and the fire apparently was set to cover up the slayings, authorities said.

The home belonged to a soldier serving in Iraq, his wife and their two children. The victims were the young mother, the children and her sister, the King County medical examiner's office said Wednesday.

Police in this east Seattle suburb have arrested a neighbor for investigation of arson and homicide in Monday's fire and the four slayings, Police Capt. Eric Olsen said at a news conference. He declined to elaborate on what led authorities to the man.

"We don't have a motive at this time," Olsen said. (more)

Sgt. Leonid Milkin had been in Iraq since September as a member of the 341st Military Intelligence Battalion.

Bush and NAACP
I don't have any friends with color. I noticed Bush spoke of a black friend. I was taught if a person is your friend color isn't a thought. Like my friends on this blog. I like all of you without knowing what color you are, I accept you as people. Bush has shown a true example of why our country still instills prejudice. My family is a rainbow of colors so I join all. Your not born with prejudice your taught prejudice. A long time a go my teacher said for the class to go to a hospital nursery to see what babies where up because they didn't like who they set next to, then she said go to a cemetery and check the names of the people place next to each other. In class who had no idea why we were doing this but she collected our reports and then said the only time people have problems or prejudice is in the middle. I was clueless to that class project but as I grow older I understood what she was saying and have taught that to my kids and others. Prejudice is only something that happens during our years on earth not before not after. That's what life has taught me I'm just passing it on.

In my book, the Gerbil Administration is already guilty of falsifying facts to take us into War on False pretenses by the fact that someone's already been convicted and others are clearly suspected.

Yet they skewed the data and made the CIA their skapegoat by saying that they got the intelligence wrong.

That was the second crime.

But that's typical of the Gerbil Administration for the sheer reason that it's not an isolated insident.

On 911 they also ignored the data and blamed the Agencies who's information they conveniently ignored.

It's clear that this Administration doesn't listen to any information from anyone to which they deem politically wrong.

That's also why they're ignoring Al Gore's Global Warning Findings and the Pentagons Findings that Global Warming is a bigger threat to our Nation than Terrorism could ever be.

THEY'RE PLAYING POLITICS WITH PEOPLE'S LIVES!

That's a clear threat to Homeland Security!

It's a no brainer.

Turning away from the war:

The evolving Republican message on the war contrasts with the strong rhetoric used by House and Senate Republicans recently in opposing a deadline for withdrawal from Iraq. During a debate last month, Gutknecht intoned, "Members, now is not the time to go wobbly." This week, he conceded "I guess I didn't understand the situation," saying that a partial troop withdrawal now would "send a clear message to the Iraqis that the next step is up to you."

"If we don't take the training wheels off, we will be in the same place in six months that we're in today," he said.

More on the Gerbil's speech at the NAACP convention from WSJ. Here an excerpt:

Mr. Bush said he saw his attendance at the convention as a moment of opportunity to celebrate the civil-rights movement and the accomplishments of the NAACP.
"I come from a family committed to civil rights," Mr. Bush said. "My faith tells me that we are all children of God -- equally loved, equally cherished, equally entitled to the rights He grants us all.
"For nearly 200 years, our nation failed the test of extending the blessings of liberty to African-Americans. Slavery was legal for nearly 100 years, and discrimination legal in many places for nearly 100 years more."

Toward the end of his remarks, two protesters interrupted the president, shouting inquiries about Vice President Dick Cheney and the situation in the Middle East. "Don't worry. I'm almost done," Mr. Bush whispered to NAACP board Chairman Julian Bond, one of the dignitaries with him on the stage.
"I know you can handle it," Mr. Bond replied.

From WSJ about Kenneth Lay:

Ken Lay Autopsy Shows Severe Heart Disease

An autopsy report released yesterday showed that Kenneth Lay suffered from severe coronary disease when he died of a heart attack on July 5. Lay had more than 90 percent blockage in all three coronary arteries. Lay had a history of heart problems, according to the report, which said the autopsy revealed two coronary artery stents in place to increase blood flow. Here are stories from the Denver Post and Houston Chronicle.
Said Dr. Rob Kurtzman, the Colorado physician who performed the autopsy: “All the allegations that this is not his body are ludicrous.”

Now, I am waiting for Kenneth Boy's family to blame Vioxx for this!

Judge won't drop AT&T eavesdropping lawsuit

Jul 20, 3:13 PM (ET)

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A federal judge declined motions on Thursday to dismiss a lawsuit against AT&T alleging the firm illegally allowed the U.S. government to monitor phone conversations and e-mail communications.

AT&T asked the court in late April to dismiss the case, and two weeks later the U.S. government also asked the federal judge to dismiss it because of the secrecy of the issue.

In a 72-page ruling on Thursday, Judge Vaughn Walker rejected that filing in a case that has raised further attention to the domestic spying program acknowledged by President George W. Bush.

"The very subject matter of this action is hardly a secret," the judge wrote. "Public disclosures by the government and AT&T indicate that AT&T is assisting the government to implement some kind of surveillance program."

The privacy rights group Electronic Frontier Foundation says the program allows the government to eavesdrop on phone calls and read e-mails of millions of Americans without obtaining warrants. The plaintiffs are seeking an injunction that would order the government to stop the program.

From my experiences, the people that go to the expensive Fresh Deli donuts either have the money for that or the wannabes who want to keep up with Joneses. A donut is a donut to me! And taking the stale donuts and coffee over the expensive donuts means that you are paying a price for success. Most people won't pay the price for success. So, you are working hard and smart.

we get to sleep good at night not having to worry about criminal activity catching up with us...

That's true.. But, let's not forget everyday people not just prosecutors, GEF! People do wrong to people with malice have their actions catch up with them.. When I said in my morning comment that it is the decisions that you make today that will determine if you will have good or bad consequences, it is true. Since you have a good night sleep, that is good because you are not living with regrets! Get my drift?

John Conyers rocks!!!

Conyers v. Bush: Lawsuit over Federal Deficit Reduction Act

Rep. John Conyer's (D-MI) is suing President Bush over the enactment of the Federal Deficit Rediction Act. Shorter version: The House and Senate passed different versions of the bill and even though they went to conference, the House never voted on the version passed by the Senate as a House clerk changed a provision in the Senate version and Bush signed it into law. Bush can't sign a bill unless it has been agreed to by both the House and Senate.

That you want to be free
But you'll come running back (said you would baby)
You'll come running back (I said so many times before)
You'll come running back to me

Oh, time is on my side, yes it is
Time is on my side, yes it is

You're searching for good times
But just wait and see
You'll come running back (I won't have to worry no more)
You'll come running back (spend the rest of my life with you, baby)
You'll come running back to me

Go ahead, go ahead and light up the town
And baby, do everything your heart desires
Remember, I'll always be around
And I know, I know
Like I told you so many times before
You're gonna come back, baby
'Cause I know
You're gonna come back knocking
Yeah, knocking right on my door
Yes, yes!

Well, time is on my side, yes it is
Time is on my side, yes it is

'Cause I got the real love
The kind that you need
You'll come running back (said you would, baby)
You'll come running back (I always said you would)
You'll come running back, to me
Yes time, time, time is on my side, yes it is

That'll kill him. GEF! Well, you know that the Baron has to have his Perrier water for his uptime event.. Yeah, that would be a fatal results.. Poor bastard...

Anyway, here is a gotcha moment. From a past comment, Lieberman was going on a smear campaign on Lemont about his share in Hallburton. Well, Lieberman never disclosed thatLieberman, himself own Halliburton stock!

From FDL,

LIEBERMAN: From the limited disclosure he had under the ‘Senate ethics’ that he has stock in ‘Halliburton,’ and he has stock in, more stock in some of the big oil companies. That’s something for everybody to judge.
MARK DAVIS: That would be a crime?
LIEBERMAN: Oh no, this is just public right to know. None of this is about illegality. I think when you get into public office you’ve got an obligation to disclose all your financial holdings.
Now it turns out that Lieberman was playing Mark Davis for a fool, and he himself holds Halliburton stock. It is the third largest holding, in fact, in his "Victory Fund" mutual fund.

Lieberman’s 2005 Personal Finance Disclosure Statement. See page 7, line 7

http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/07/20/joe-lieberman-running-against-himself/

That is unusual, but not entirely. Rich people treat homes like villas. If one villas gives you bad memories of a dead friend then you sell it and get another one..

The unusual part is the timing..Ken Lay's ashes haven't cooled yet!

Hmmm..

I did say that I would look into any ties with Enron with Liebermen according to his 2005 finanical statement. Well, here is what found from an article about Enron stock:

"LJM Rationale": LJM2 was formed in October 1999 with the stated goal of acquiring assets primarily owned by Enron and generating a 30% average annual return for its limited-partner investors. Why focus on Enron assets? The documents explain that some of those assets were diluting Enron's earnings and harming the ratios on which its credit ratings were based. It wanted to "deconsolidate" those assets and "create structures which accelerate projected earnings and cash flows."

selling point to potential investors in LJM2: "The Partnership expects to benefit from having the opportunity to invest in Enron-generated investment opportunities that would not be available otherwise to outside investors."

Investors: The papers contain a partial list of the biggest companies and financial institution that are known to have invested in LJM2, either directly, through subsidiaries or on behalf of third parties: American International Group (AIG), AON (AOC), Citigroup (C), CIBC, Credit Suisse First Boston, Dresdner Bank, General Electric (GE), J.P. Morgan Chase (JPM), Lehman Brothers (LEH), Morgan Stanley (MWD), Merrill Lynch (MER) and Wachovia Bank (WB).

From 2005 statement, Lieberman had heavy investments in Merrill Lynch. And Merrill Lynch has investments with Enron. He does have a CD in Wachovia Bank. Yet, there are two other companies in which Lieberman invested in according to the 2005 financial statement: Pfizer and Tyco! There is a lot more about Lieberman that meets the eye!

From the Urban dictionary

Republicriminal:

A corrupt member of the Republican Party.

Example: Tom Delay is a Republicriminal.

Republican Party:
A white-collar crime organization; a pack of criminally insane political prostitutes without consciences, who have buried their faces in the public pie as though it were a feeding trough, and done nothing but loot the treasury for six long years. Only a fool would consider the current Republican Party a conservative party. Insofar as fiscal restraint and limited government are the defining features of the conservative position, the Republicriminal Party couldn’t be any f***kin' farther from Conservative.
Example: If you think the Republican Party is conservative you have sh*t for brains.

One last thing about Lieberman.. Hmmm..

A blast from the past:

Given the central role played by Citigroup in concealing Enron's debt from investors, the general public, and government regulators, why, then, hasn't former Clinton treasury secretary, Robert Rubin, now the chairman of Citigroup's executive committee, been called to testify before Congress? In particular, why hasn't the chairman of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, Senator Joseph Lieberman, sought Rubin's testimony? After all, Lieberman is heading up the Senate's investigation into Enron's bankruptcy and fraudulent dealings.

And yet, Citgroup was one of the companies that invested in the LJM2 and Enron..Maybe that explains WHY Lieberman didn't need Rubin's testimony in the Senate's investigation of Enron!

5:28 PM
Blogger PrissyPatriot said...

SPB, there you have it! That is interesting news...now why wasn't that noticed in the Enron investigation-or isn't it enough to get him in trouble?

Lieberman may be busy on a campaign to save himself-no need to pretend running as an Independent.

If our founding Fathers had thought like you or your reality we would have no United States. So we dreamers will continue and with God's blessing and help will rebuild this great nation as we did the first time. We're proud Americans who dream for a peacefull, bright future for all. You stick with your so called reality it bites.

Oh wait, I am in the right place. There are the same old copied and pasted comments by the troll. Hmmm, it really must be boring to go through life without having an imagination. It must be like being in China during the Cultural Revolution when Chairman Mao had everyone memorize everything, and then repeat it.

(Washington Post) New Links Between Abramoff, White House: Lobbyist Jack Abramoff had a half-dozen White House appointments in the early months of the Bush administration, according to logs released yesterday by the U.S. Secret Service. ... Among those with whom Abramoff met in the spring of 2001 was Cesar Conda, then assistant to the vice president for domestic policy, and Catharine Ryun, executive assistant to the director of the faith-based office and daughter of Rep. Jim Ryun (R-Kan.).

Interesting.

Hmmm, the falling Gerbil must have been 'channeling' Gerald Ford, trying to figure out how many people he will pardon before he is done.

Oh, I think there should be another two or three zeros added to that $115,000 fine. Now a $11,500,000 or $115,000,000 fine would make anyone else thinking about being naughty stop in their tracks.

President Bush addressed the NAACP today for the first time in his presidency.

He believes strongly, for example, that the death tax will prevent future African-American entrepreneurs from being able to pass their assets from one generation to the next. He and I also understand that the investor class shouldn’t be just confined to the old definition of the investor class.

President Bush’s “death tax” pitch demonstrates his stunning disconnect from the African-American community. According to an American Progress analysis, just 59 African-Americans will pay the estate tax this year, and that number will drop to 33 in 2009.

Meanwhile, as of 2004, 24.7 percent of African-Americans lived under the poverty line (up from 22.7 in 2001) — that’s more than 9 million people. The number of times Bush mentioned “poverty” in his speech: 0.

Sharp Rise in Baghdad Violence Reported

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Bombings and shootings soared by 40 percent in the Baghdad area in the past week, the U.S. military said Thursday. An American general said extremists were preparing "an all-out assault" on the capital in a decisive battle for the future of Iraq.

Iraq's most influential Shiite cleric issued his strongest call yet for an end to Shiite-Sunni bloodletting, urging all Iraqis to wake up to the "danger threatening the future of the country" and stand "side-by-side against it."

U.S. military spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell said there had been an average of 34 attacks a day involving U.S. and Iraqi forces in and around the capital since Friday - up sharply from the daily average of 24 registered between June 14 and July 13.

Media Matters:
In a July 17 column titled "The End of the Affair" appearing in Slate, Vanity Fair columnist Christopher Hitchens concluded that syndicated columnist and Fox News political analyst Robert D. Novak's July 12 column, coupled with Novak's appearance on the July 16 edition of NBC's Meet the Press, "dissolved any remaining doubt about the mad theory that the Bush administration 'outed' [former CIA agent] Ms. Valerie Plame as revenge for her husband's [former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV] refusal to confirm the report by British intelligence that Iraqi officials had visited Niger in search of uranium." Following that claim, Hitchens "summarize[d]" what "we now know," which he apparently offered in support of his claim:

* "Novak was never approached by any administration officials but approached them instead."
* "He [Novak] was never told the name Plame but discovered it from Who's Who in America, which contained it in Joseph Wilson's entry."
* "Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald had all along known which sources had responded to Novak's questions."

But none of these points support Hitchens's conclusion that there is no "remaining doubt" about whether the Bush administration outed Plame as revenge for her husband's actions.

Consequently, no amount of spin control emanating from the White House can whitewash the mess made by Rove.

Presidential adviser Karl Rove didn't telephone syndicated columnist Robert Novak three years ago with a plan of outing CIA operative Valerie Plame.

The sequence of events doesn't weaken the most salient point. While Novak learned about Plame from the book "Who's Who of America," Rove played a pivotal role in confirming the information to the columnist.

Consequently, no amount of spin control emanating from the White House can whitewash the mess made by Rove. This, despite repeated assurances that no one from the administration leaked Plame's name.
