Paralysed man uses mind control to send email

A paralysed man using a new brain sensor has been able to move a computer cursor, open email and control a robotic device simply by thinking about doing it, a team of scientists says.

They believe the BrainGate sensor, which involves implanting electrodes in the brain, could offer new hope to people paralysed by injuries or illnesses.
"This is the first step in an ongoing clinical trial of a device that is encouraging for its potential to help people with paralysis," Dr Leigh Hochberg, of Massachusetts General Hospital, said in an interview today.

The 25-year-old man, who suffered paralysis of all four limbs three years earlier, completed tasks such as moving a cursor on a screen and controlling a robotic arm.

Another person connected to Enron is dead:

July 25, 2006 --

"Suicide" claims another official involved with Enron case. Former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas and member of President Bush's Corporate Fraud Task Force Michael T. Shelby, 47, shot himself to death at his home in northwest Houston on July 18, according to Houston police. The police immediately ruled out foul play in the suicide death of Shelby who served as chief U.S. prosecutor in Houston from 2001 to 2005 when he joined the law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski where he worked on corporate fraud cases. Shelby was reported to be suffering from cancer. Shelby first worked for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Houston in 1989, moved to Phoenix, and in 2001 returned to Houston to take the U.S. Attorney's job. More interestingly, Shelby, as U.S. Attorney, recused himself from investigating those involved in the Enron scandal, including Ken Lay, Jeffrey Skilling, and Andrew Fastow. In January 2002, former Enron Vice Chairman Cliff Baxter allegedly shot himself to death in his car near his Houston home. Former Enron Chairman Ken Lay died suddenly of a heart attack earlier this month in Aspen, Colorado.

People are like dropping like flies that are connected to Enron.. Another "suicide"?? Hmmm.. Makes you wonder...

Monjoronson :
The dark uses the same methods in creating their failed corporations over and over and over, ad nauseum, and still they do it. Ken Lay was murdered, via beam weaponry in his sleep. He was actually not fully dark, but not as light as he could be. He was beginning to talk; he knew a bit too much. Some of what was behind the talking was to cover his own rear, and some was behind that maybe he should do the right thing. And that was the reason behind his murder, that desire to just maybe do the right thing for a change of pace.

Amid an outcry from Democrats on Capitol Hill, the Justice Department named Patrick Fitzgerald as a special prosecutor to probe whether the law had been violated.

After spending more than two years and millions of dollars, Fitzgerald charged no one with the crime of outing Plame.

Judge Dismisses Phone Records Lawsuit

CHICAGO (AP) - Citing national security, a federal judge Tuesday threw out a lawsuit aimed at blocking AT&T from giving telephone records to the government for use in the war on terror.

"The court is persuaded that requiring AT&T to confirm or deny whether it has disclosed large quantities of telephone records to the federal government could give adversaries of this country valuable insight into the government's intelligence activities," U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Kennelly said.

Kennelly ruled in a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois on behalf of author Studs Terkel and other activists who said their constitutional rights were violated because of a National Security Agency program of gathering phone company records.

Justice Department attorneys had argued it that would violate the law against divulging state secrets for AT&T to say whether it had provided telephone records to the supersecret spy agency.

The ACLU argued that the practice was no longer secret, because numerous news reports had made it clear that phone records had been given to the agency.

But the judge said the news reports amounted to speculation and in no way constituted official confirmation that phone records had been turned over.

He also said Terkel and the other plaintiffs in the lawsuit, which sought class-action status, had not shown that their own records had been provided to the government. As a result, they lacked standing to sue the government, he said.

SPB,S-Q Whaddya think - is there any recourse? Individuals sue AT&T maybe? How much more injustice will they expect Americans to swallow? I know I've had my fill!

AT&T is a complex case since the Gerbil has altered the law for domestic spying.. That's too bad in Chicago.. But, I think there will be class action lawsuit by the consumers. I don't think AT&T will get passed that.. I would recommend the individuals to contact their local officals in their state to express a concern over AT&T..

Other other hand, here is a result of a case of AT &T by California:

The Administration takes no advice from anyone, including the military. They just want killing, blood and death - and they still aren't content. They want MORE killing, blood and death. However (and this is a biggie), THEY won't be a part of it.

Everything about Bushco and Sleaze shows their relationship. She's an "office wife". And I'll bet that Laura gives thanks every day that Sleazy is there for that little man.

PREDICTION: For those who are familiar with the Saudi Family - you know that they are NOT very popular. It's the same as the Bushies here in the States. They rule by arrogance.
They will NOT attack Israel. We have troops in Saudi - the reason being ... to protect the Saudi Family and OUR OIL INTERESTS.

Although the Bushco's have tried to corrupt our entire judicial system, it is obvious that there are lines that cannot be crossed.

Sometimes a despot will be too way out, and generally this type of sociopathic behavior is pretty recognizable. Most everyone at this point sees Bushco as the "elephant in the room".

The fact that Georgie used to blow up frogs probably indicates that he might have ended up as a serial killer if he wasn't born into the bush califate. So instead of just going out and killing and strangling people, he sends kids off to his stupid war.

In many ways, he appears to have the potential to become a psychotic killer and probably should be institutionalized. One of the first indications of this behavior is animal cruelty, for which he had a penchant when he was young. When he leaves office, it is very questionable as to what he will do with himself. I certainly wouldn't want to live in any city that he resided in - similar to London and Jack the Ripper.

Just because you are born into what you perceive as a dynasty, does not mean you are not or cannot develop a severe mental illness. His refusal to accept advice, his inability to admit wrong, his arrogance, his apparent enjoyment of killing others....all these point to a real questionable mental health issue in this man.

If you add long term substance abuse to the mix, you have a Jeffrey Dahmer potential. In many ways, Bush has been used by his handlers. His power only exists in his own mind. He has become his own enemy.

Perhaps he will draft himself and send himself to Afghanistan? Nah, he's also a lame coward.

S-Q--Take a look at the news link to the prosecutor who shot himself again. It says he quit as a prosecutor a year ago and went into private practice so he could send his kids to college. Later in the article it mentions that he had cancer. Because of HIPAA and out of privacy for the family, we don't know much other than he had cancer so whatever plans he had for his kids certainly got turned upside down. We don't know how much pain he was in and we don't know what the doc said.

I was half serious about Kevorkian. That guy knows how much people suffer and want to die for medical reasons, and he really has nothing else better to do while he is in jail. He may as well look at medical records.

I do know four people who had cancer and in each case the docs told them to get their affairs in order because they were not going to make it. All four are still alive and cancer-free. Never give up hope, but not everyone knows that.

I do hope some kind people make sure the two kids can make it to college. They are going to have to finish growing up without their daddy. I do feel sorry for the family who is left behind.

Colin Powell had his chance to be a great Secretary of State. He blew it, big time. His legacy is one of Publicly prostituting himself to the Neocons, notwithstanding his private opposition to what the Neocons wanted to do. Just think how things might have changed had Colin Powell resigned and gone public with his concerns prior to the invasion of Iraq.

Sure, compared to others in the Bush administration, Powell was, as a general matter, "not that bad." Big Deal. He still went along with the Neocons when he had a chance to make a real difference. In other words, he knew better than to do what he did and did it anyway. Being "not that bad" does not atone for that particular sin.

The best "Meet the Press" episode ever was when Colin Powell was sitting on the beach somewhere in the Middle East (Dubai? UAE?). Anyway, Russert asked him a pretty bold question and Powell's staff reacted by attacking the camera. Powell was furious. I do not know what was said next because I could not stop laughing.

Compared to Rice, Powell looks pretty good, but our country and everybody else's country deserves much, much better than either.

I found this by mistake, and it certainly must be a sign that the apocalypse must be near:

Anon at 9:33. I am unaware of any efforts by Powell to go public to contradict the Bush administration on Iraq prior to the invasion or even while most of the country was mesmerized by the "shock and awe." Powell went to the UN and did not tell the truth. He knew better. No one made him give that speech.

I am very much interested in credible evidence that Powell tried to go public but failed, at a time when it really mattered. Please let us know where such evidence can be found.

Again, if Powell was being ignored and treated like crap, why didn't he get out and blow the whistle? I'd love to here from Powell on that one.

And please don't get me wrong. Powell undoubtedly accomplished some good things as Sec State. But whatever he accomplished is overshadowed by the failures previously discussed.

Hey anon:

Colin Powell made a conscious choice to stand up in front of Congress and LIE THROUGH HIS TEETH to them and to the American people.

He knew it was all a lie.

There is NO forgiveable excuse for his behavior. He has cost the US dearly in lives, as well as the Iraqi people. He CHOSE to do this. He CHOSE to turn into an Uncle Tom for that Texas Jackass.

If Colin Powell hadn't known that what he was saying was a lie, I could forgive him. But he knew and he did it anyway. Which makes him the equivalent of a traitor to the American people.

I sincerely hope and pray that Mr. Powell never has a peaceful night's sleep, and that his last thought is of all the soldier's deaths he is responsible for. He could have been a hero. He chose to sell out his soul to the devils spawn Bush and Cheney.

May God have mercy on his soul.

The conservatives, who include Newt Gingrich, Richard Perle and leading current and former members of the Pentagon and National Security Council, have urged the president to transfer Miss Rice out of the State Department and to an advisory role. They said Miss Rice, stemming from her lack of understanding of the Middle East, has misled the president on Iran and the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Willful Blindness. We are codoning the bombing and murders of Lebanese citizens... "It is a violation of the US Arms Export Control Act to provide weapons to foreign countries that are not used for defensive purposes or to maintain internal security. During the last major Israeli incursion into Lebanon, in 1981, the Reagan administration cut off US military aid and arms deliveries for 10 weeks while it investigated whether Israel was using weapons for "defensive purposes." "
and more....
"Last week, both houses of Congress, mindful of the importance of retaining Jewish votes and campaign contributions, passed resolutions stating that Israel is acting in self-defense. The vote in the Senate was unanimous; the House vote was 410 to 8.

Walking in lockstep with Bush, neither resolution calls for a ceasefire. The Senate resolution praises Israel for its "restraint" and the House resolution "welcomes Israel's continued efforts to prevent civilian casualties."

US-provided Israeli bombs have killed nearly 400 Lebanese, the overwhelming majority innocent civilians. The bombing has displaced half a million people and caused an estimated $1 billion in damage.

After Israeli orders that people in southern Lebanon evacuate their homes, several vehicles filled with evacuating Lebanese civilians were bombed by the Israeli military.

An Israeli helicopter fired a missile at a white minibus carrying 19 people fleeing Tairi. Three people were killed and several wounded.

A green Mercedes with a family fleeing Mansuri was struck by an Israeli missile. Three lay dead, others severely injured. Eight-year-old Mahmoud Srour's face was burned beyond recognition."

Also there are reports that Israel is using white phosphorous gas and US made cluster bombs. Our tax dollars at work...This will come back to us.

The American Bar Association has issued a report condemning President Bush for abuse of presidential "signing statements" during his five-and-one-half years in office. Signing statements are announcements put out by the White House whenever the president signs some piece of legislation into law. Presidents going back to James Monroe have used signing statements to place caveats on their willingness to enforce the laws in question, based on their reading of the Constitution. It's a sort of executive-branch fudge.

Until the election of George W. Bush, signing statements were used sparingly as a means to defy Congress. From the dawn of the republic until the inauguration of Bush fils, the nation's first 42 presidents collectively used signing statements to challenge fewer than 600 laws. By the current sixth year of his presidency, Dubya has thus far used signing statements to challenge about 800 laws. Every piece of legislation that President Bush signs is first routed through Vice President Dick Cheney's office, where Cheney's Chief of Staff, David Addington, scans the bill for any perceived challenges to executive-branch authority. President Bush recently signed the first out-and-out veto of his administration, rejecting a bill that would have eased somewhat the current restrictions on stem-cell research. This was greeted as big news. But Addington has quietly been vetoing legislation for years by arranging, in effect, for Bush routinely to sign bills with two fingers crossed behind his back.

They have more along with statement made by Bush back in 2002.

Stupid Bill Kristol---

In the end, the neocons' cynicism about Saddam may prove to have been right, but in ways contrary to what they believed. As Bob Drogin of the Los Angeles Times reported in August, U.S. weapons inspectors in Iraq are investigating the possibility that Saddam, eager to project an image of strength to enemies within and outside the country, sent defectors to the West with bogus stories about the creation and maintenance of weapons stockpiles and programs that he didn't, in fact, have. "We were prisoners of our own beliefs," a senior U.S. weapons expert told Drogin. "We said Saddam Hussein was a master of denial and deception. Then when we couldn't find anything, we said that proved it, instead of questioning our own assumptions." The imprisonment-by-assumption thesis might also explain another mystery historians will have to sort out: how the neocons managed to convince themselves and many others that controlling post-Saddam Iraq would be a cakewalk because virtually all Iraqis would welcome invading G.I.s as liberators. Talk about mirror-imaging!

Perle and Kristol among others have been beating those war drums very loudly...no one should fall for that shit ever again. (Not that most people did anyway.)

When they smell those flowers:

*KABOOM!*

Soldier: "LOOK MA, NO LEGS, AND THE FEDS HAVE CUT OFF MY MEDICAL MONEY!"

Kristol: "Shut up, pick up your flag and wave boy!"

..here's some homework for ya...

How do those Capped Foreign Bankers link with Enron which link with Ken Lay, which link with the Gerbil, which links to Gerbil41, which links with Carlyle, which links with Saudi Business men ?

How is the Israeli War with Hezbollah a way for the US to attack Iran in order to get rid of their Oil Bourse ?

How does the Iran Oil Bourse threaten the Foreign Fed Bank ?

Who from the Foreign Fed Bank is a member of the Bilderbergs and did they plan this conflict ?

Inquiring Minds want to know!

"The criticism of Miss Rice has been intense and comes from a range of Republican loyalists, including current and former aides in the Defense Department and the office of Vice President Dick Cheney. accelerate its nuclear weapons program.

By accelerate one has to understand that unless Russia or China has given them Nukes, they won't acquire it for at least 8 more years...

All they could do is hit Israel with a dirty-nuke and they know full well that Israel will instantly retaliate with Hardcore Nukes...

The Baron says so!!

Well then if the actual president says so then Make-it-so number 1.
