Threats against Jerusalem came today also out of Teheran: The iranian leadership gave notice for the case of an israeli attack on Syria with "unimaginable losses". "We hope, that the zionistische government make not the mistake commit becomes, Syria to attack", said outside office speaker Hamid Resa Asefi today. An expansion of the conflict would have unforeseeable sequence for Israel. Iran stands "at the side of the Syrian people". Syria and the Lebanons could calculate on the "spiritual and humanitarian aid" of the Iran.

Rove, Novak: Have You No Decency?

At last the Prince of Darkness has spoken. Columnist Robert Novak has come forward with a tardy confession of his collusion with the highest levels of the White House — namely Karl Rove, himself — in an unprecedented bit of nastiness that perfectly conforms with everything else we know about both. Rove leaked. Novak wrote, and a covert CIA operation was blown. And for what? To exact revenge.

The Rove-Novak connection is like a perfect maelstrom of deceit in the arena of public policy. The despicably immoral operative in the White House teams with the equally contemptible partisan disguised as a journalist in a nefarious scheme to punish a political enemy. These two thought nothing of the consequences of their devil’s compact in terms of how it compromised vital U.S. national security interests, critical covert operations and potentially the lives of undercover CIA agents.

Plame had been outted years ago, even by her own husband, Joe Wilson. She was in no danger and was not covert. Much ado about nothing as it has been proved with no indictments from Fitz.

Al Rogers is SUCH a bore! His fearless leader has people collecting his excrement for fear of his shit faling into the wrong hands. Al sounds as if he'd love to caretake the Presidential turds.

And goodness, Ann Coulter is so unquestionably vile. I suppose like attracts like, I guess, when it comes to people like Al. Such a disappoint to see that spew here! Al, sees himself as The Man? But does he see himself as The Man who is not only Ignorant but Stupid? Quel Imbecile!

You've become a Turkey Lurkey, Al. Guys like you will be the last clueless white guys in the country to know what PJF and his dream team are doing. Up till that time you are wasting your breath. Hang onto those illusions, Al. To be on the side you're on, you've turned yourself into a whore-- especially for getting attention. Do you honestly imagine that Ann Coulter will actually notice your spew? Your provocations definitely are pointless and puerile. And certainly, pathetic. Someone fitted you for a nose-ring long ago. It's hard work to think and a lot of people just like you avoid it. So much easier to come off like a rabid, unthinking, jingoistic, party-line groupie. I bet even the GOP will show you the door, when even they tire of a**kissers like you. Too bad there are some people in this world who never learned how to do anything but suck...

Think about it, Al. Stop avoiding looking in The Big Mirror at who and what you've become.

July 16, 2006 -- EXCLUSIVE TO WMR. Our intelligence sources in Lebanon have reported to us exclusively that Israel is now using poison gas and depleted uranium shells on towns in the south of Lebanon. Residents of the small village of Kasarshoba became violently ill, experiencing severe vomiting, after the Israelis hit the village with poison gas. In other cases, underground shelters in southern Lebanon were hit by Israeli depleted uranium shells. Our sources also report that the entire southern suburbs of southern Beirut, with a population of 800,000, have been totally depopulated. Israel has targeted thousands of civilian homes for destruction.

Meanwhile, Israeli government spokespersons and Bush administration officials took to the Sunday morning talking head programs in Washington to defend Israel's barbarous actions. The networks failed to present the views of Lebanese government spokespersons. Israel's and the Bush administration's line is that Israeli attacks are "precision targeted." Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice pointedly refused to criticize Israel on ABC's This Week.

Doubtful that Israel would use poison gas. Sorry if you all disagree, but I really can't see that happening and I'm still entitled to my own personal opinion.

This one is for Al - his girlfriend is remodeling (or is she his next victim maybe???):

Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL) -- who, when pollsters last checked, was trailing her Democratic challenger for Senate by 33 points -- has withdrawn $100,000 from her campaign war chest for a personal expense. (Remember, she pledged to put her entire life's worth into that war chest, in order to win the race. Of course, to date she's only put in $3.5 million.)

Why would she remove funds she desperately needs to fund a campaign that's showing every recognized sign of tanking (as well as some new ones we've never seen before)?

To remodel her Washington, D.C. home.

Is it a gesture of how sure she is of winning? Is that why she's made it a de facto campaign expense, using money from her campaign instead of the millions of personal wealth she's held in reserve?

Hezbollah has a lot more 'toys' up their sleeves. Syria really wants to stay out of this, but the only way to stay out of this is stop selling weapons to Hezbollah.

The problem is that Hezbollah and Hamas are now functioning and elected members of the government in both lebanon and syria.

We have NO say in any of this. Bush is hamstrung. The sockpuppet has nothing to say - other than to try and drag Iran into it.

He shot his wad when he made that stupid comment to Putin about "hoping Russia was going to be democratic". The G8 is still laughing.

He is such a freaking pig when it comes to diplomacy.

Newt is not my favorite, but he can be shrewd and has a good grasp on what is happening. The US is allowing this to happen, but in our defense (limited), we created the climate that it is happening within.

When we took out the Taliban (justifiably so), we took a needle out of Iran's side. When we took out Saddam, we removed the needle from the other side of Iran.

Our meddling into the affairs of Middle Eastern nations has taken nothing into consideration regarding tribalism. The Muslim nations are tribes. They do not have a "national unity" so they are not affected by things that happen to their countries the way that we do.

Iran is not an Arabic country, which pretty much every single idiot in our Administration has obviously chosen to ignore. They do not consider themselves Arabs, they are Persians. You cannot deal with them as Arabs.

God we are so in a huge hole in this mess....we have got to stop supporting Israel in everything. Israel is obviously acting with our blessing.

I think one of the things I find most frightening is how this Mid-east thing is being "spun". This is not a game and it is not going to be over in 7 days.

The fact that we have NO diplomacy in play (other than the Carlyle Group) in the Middle East and no credibility with anyone anywhere, is damning for our country.

Above all, pay attention to what happens and when. Lebanon is a small budding democracy with a very ineffective democratic leaning head of state. The Lebanese have chosen democracy over a repressive despotic regime, but the fact is, they are very weak and the Hezbollah and Hamas are the power brokers in that country.

Lebanon is being crushed. Beirut is a lovely thriving city, very modern and western with industry and bright people trying to get ahead. It had managed to do a lot of rebulding in the last 20 years. We had the privilege of spending time in lebanon but of course, never got into areas US citizens were not allowed.

Danger is in the Bakaa valley for one. We were given orders to leave for Cyprus immediately by our State Department and flew out as quickly as possible (this was 1998). It was scary but handled well .. although spending December being virtually the ONLY guest at a Cyprus Resort was a bit weird.

Someone has to stop this mess. The US doesn't have the power to do it. No one will listen to any of our Boneheads...someone the other day told Condisleezy to "butt out" (beautiful!)

We live in troubled times

7:33 PM
Blogger basheert said...

Just a few thoughts re: Syria

It is not in Israel's interest to involve Syria. The Syrian president is a weak and ineffectual person - but he is not a war monger and really doesn't want to get into the middle of this mess.

Hezbollah and Hamas are in both Lebanon and Syria - they are the drivers in this force. Sort of like Bush and Cheney being the Evil Darth Vaders in our country.

Syria is a pathetic little country, as is Lebanon right now. They are being used as staging points in this conflict...and the innocent are suffering because of their government's choices (as is Israel).

We will be in this same position soon if we don't do something about Bush.

Medically retired soldier concludes: "We are pawns" in Iraq
By Cindy Rodríguez
Denver Post Staff Columnist

At what price would you take a job that included scraping human flesh off ambushed Humvees?

What if it also meant working 16 to 20 hours nearly every day in 120-degree temperatures?

As an enlisted soldier, Army Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Peskoff of Fountain took on such a job, overseeing 29 soldiers at a military installation in Mosul, Iraq.

Of course, he didn't know what he was getting himself into. (more)

Referenced in the article, there are transcripts of the February 2001 U.S. v. bin Laden, et al. in the book "Usama [sic] bin Laden's al-Qaida: Profile of a Terrorist Network" by Yohan Alexander and Michael S. Swetnam published in 2001 by Transnational Publishers.

Ummmm, does WMR know how to find books?

Because not everyone seems to like the Washington Post, here is a link to an off-the-wall place:

Oct. 2005 article

Next up is former Sen. Peter Fitzgerald. That guy refused to allow the Lincoln Library to be tainted and he was willing to stand up to make things right, even if it was going to make him unpopular. Just say no thank you to building a library with graft, especially one honoring Honest Abe.

If WMR gets any worse, it will sink to the Ann Coulter level of very poor research.

basheert-- I share your concern that we are heading into WWIII. (I think I'll go get that visa for Australia this week.) Newt brought up the subject of WWIII for purposes of suggesting that the Republicans use the event as a political weapon. Now there is a man who is consistent! WWIII? The hell with the rest of the world, let's just make sure that the Republican Party survives the nuclear conflagration. Newt's comment is right up there with Bush's "Bring 'em on!" comment a couple years ago. (Why the Dems didn't run that comment nonstop in the 2004 campaign is beyond me. Such a failure demonstrates a fundamental incompetence in campaigning.)

Hey Newt, why don't you do something to help prevent WWIII instead of gloating about how a declaration of WWIII will help Republicans win the 2006 elections?

G`morning justice blogger

Here is a Computertranslation about the background in the case Middle East :

South west Asia: Who stops Cheneys new Middle East war?
( EIR, Jerusalem postal service, Ha' aretz, washington Post)
US vice president Cheney has threatens a new Middle East war angezettelt to expand himself that of Israel and Palestine on Syria and the Irans. This war was planned middle June in a meeting between Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Benjamin Netanjahu during a conference of the american Enterprise institute in Beaver Creek (Colodaro). The war should not protect Israel against the "terror attacks of the Hamas and the Hesbollah" or the alleged Atomwaffenplänen of the Iran, it is operated rather of powerful synarchistischen powers around George Shultz and Felix Rohatyn , who stand behind Cheney and Netanjahu. And these synarchistischen powers use Israel as its instrument, for the US-troops are bound in Iraq.
What presently in that sewed happens East, follows that, what in the notorious strategy paper a clean breach: A new strategy for the security of the empire laid down is. Neocons composed leading this paper for Netanjahu when it became 1996 israeli Prime Minister. To its authors, the "sovereign of the darkness" belong Richard pearl, the earlier Pentagon-official Douglas Feith as well as the Neokonservativen davids and Meyrav Wurmser. In the paper, a "clean breach" is demanded "of the slogan, comprehensive peace', back to a traditional powers balance". Israel should seize "the initiative at its north boundaries" against the Hesbollah and Syria as well as the Irans.
When three weeks ago Netanjahu of its meeting with Cheney returned, announced it, Israel had to reject negotiations with the Palestinians and had to restore its military "deterrence". This politics completely was received of the israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. The capture of the israeli soldier Gilad Schalit through militant Palestinian out of the Gaza Strip served to initiate as a pretext, Netanjahus politics of the "restoration of the deterrence" with the destruction of the Hamas: Political negotiations with the Hamas-government of the Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Hanijeh and Präsident A Mazen were rejected and the Gaza Strips with country and air forces attacked.
Then a second front was opened in the north. Contrary to the published reports, the Hesbollah was not penetrated in israeli territory in order to abduct two israeli soldiers. The caught israeli soldiers patroullierten on Lebenese territory. How in the case of the kidnapping of the soldier Schalit the kidnapping as a pretext for a massive served to smash wohlvorbereitete military operation with the goal, the Hesbollah. A further strange anomaly in these events is that the alarm condition high, that had been exclaimed after the kidnapping Schalits three weeks ago also at the north boundary, was canceled , according to the Jerusalem postal service of the 13 July three days before the capture of both israeli soldier.
Ha' aretz reported on the 13 July over a "practice plan" of the israeli military, that the scenario stands behind that the israeli military reacts to the capture of an israeli soldier through the Hesbollah with massive air attacks and country attacks on the south Lebanons in order to smash the Hesbollah. Exactly this plan is transferred now. The israeli military has similar plans of action for an attack on Syria, that stood behind the practices of the last two or three years. During Israel goals in Beirut and in the southern and eastern Lebanon bombed as well as imposed an air blockade and lake blockade, fired the Hesbollah rockets on north israeli cities. Hesbollah-boss sheikh Hassan Nasrallah explained, the caught israeli soldiers would become only through a Gefangenentausch freikommen.
The conflict is designed on that to expand to escalate itself and to Syria. The intention to attack Syria and the Irans , became deceive clear when several speakers of the government explained bush , Syria and the Irans the responsibility for the events in the Lebanon and in the Gaza Strip. Bush itself explained on the 13 July in its meeting with Federal Chancellor Merkel , Israel has the right, "itself to defend". The most obvious proof that the government bush wants a new war, are however not the denouncements Syria, the Iran, the Hamas or the Hesbollah, but rather that it stirred no finger to prevent the crisis or to soften at least. Through its ambassador at the United Nations, the waiter-Neocon John Bolton, prevented the government bush even that the explosive situation in Middle East in the UN security council was discussed.
Vis-à-vis EIR , the israeli military historian waiter a. D confirmed. Meir Pa' hurried that a wide military escalation is to be expected. In accordance with the military logic, Israel would occupy the south Lebanons to the Litani-river, therefore to return into the "security zone", out of which it had withdrawn in the year 2000. But Israel could hold out neither a comprehensive country war in the Lebanon as well as 1982, another permanent occupation of the old security zone. Pa' did not hurry doubted that Syria would deliver a pretext for an israeli attack, but such an attack could be excluded. Israel would begin to be sure no large country war against Syria, but a certain parliamentary group in the military and Sicherheitsestablishment dreams to advance already long therefrom, so far that israeli artillery could fire to Damascus in. Because the Syrian capital would be removed only approximately 40 km of the israeli occupied Golanhöhen, let this be readily possible.
Let but the actual problem be, "that the israeli leaders only in military concepts think" while the actual problem would lie therein to reach a political solution with Israel of Arabic neighbor. Waiter Pa' hurried, that member of the peace friendly party Meretz-Yahad is, emphasized would lie, the value of the massive military superiority of Israel therein to show the Arabic world that Israel could not be overcome on military way. But this military power had to serve in addition to clear the way to a peace process, therefore to reach a political solution.
While the lawyer Ehud Olmert and the former furniture dealer try Benjamin Netanjahu , to sound like the Haudegen Ariel Scharon , gives it to drive large objection against its attempts, Israel in the israeli Sicherheitsestablishment into a more fronts war - against the Palestinian, the Hesbollah, Syria and the Irans. Ha quoted even already before the present crisis with Hesbollah ' aretz of security expert, that with the situation handled were, would make Olmerts politics of the Nichtverhandelns it "furiously". Ha' aretz Jitzhak Rabin quoted even the murdered Prime Minister: "If it no military option gives, do we all - including negotiations with the abductors - around the hostages to free." The earlier Mossad-boss Ephraim Halevy expressed similar doubts. When it was asked on the 11 July, how it would have advanced in the present hostage crisis, it said: "I believe, that one the enemy never underestimate should, and it is always useful and damages never, if one itself the largest challenges with a little humility approaches."
Many Israelis know that the government bush Israel gave light green to smash Hamas and Hesbollah. That knows also the Hamas. The Palestinian Prime Minister Hanijeh reproached bush in a guest commentary of the washington Post on the 11 July Olmert and the government, they would have itself verschworen to destroy the Hamas why also a Gefangenenaustausch and going on "earnest and fair" negotiations would be rejected: "The present invasion the Gazastreifens is only the latest attempt, the result the fair and free choices, that this year held off became, annulled make... the abducted israeli soldier Gilad Schalit is only a pretext for something, what one since months planned has... we thought, our pride on that, that we the fairest choices in the Arabic world held off have, would become in the United States and in its citizens resonance find. Instead our new government encountered from the beginning on document of the specific, declared sabotage of the white house. Now the aggression against 3.9 million civilians is continued, that live in the largest Gefangenenlagern of the world. America inactivity in view of of war crime is, encoded like always, imbedded in that, rhetorical green light: , Israel the right has to defend itself'."
It is clearly that Olmert believes to be able to create with support of the government bush a new "balance of forces" in the region. But Israel is confronted - like the USA in Iraq and in Afghanistan - with an asymmetrical war. In such a war, it gives no "balance" and first quite no "victory". Already now the israeli military warns that the military operations could last many months and could stop hundred thousands of Israelis battle actions. Can Israel survive this economically and politically? The Lebanon war of 1982 drove Israel into the bankruptcy, that was delayed only with large finance aids of the USA. Israel escaped again the bankruptcy in the six years of the Intifada between 2000 and 2005 only, because the government bush Israel with credit guarantees over 10 billions. Dollar helped. Now the USA stands however even shortly before the bankruptcy.

I am continuing some of Teak's post from DenverPost.com...such an important article...

Medically retired soldier concludes: "We are pawns" in Iraq

"As an enlisted soldier, Army Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Peskoff of Fountain took on such a job, overseeing 29 soldiers at a military installation in Mosul, Iraq.

...Taking into account the number of hours he worked each week, his $43,000 salary during his year in Iraq came out to less than $7 an hour.

Meanwhile, the soldiers in his unit had to transport and protect workers of U.S. corporations who earned salaries three to five times higher working on engineering projects, such as building (and rebuilding) oil pipelines.

For the first seven months of the year he was there, starting in April 2003, they had no armor for their vehicles.

"If you don't think about being security for these massive corporations making big bucks being there, you're OK, but if you do, then you realize the entire military is being used and abused," Peskoff, a married 33-year-old father of two girls, told me.

"This is not a Michael Moore conspiracy. It's not just Halliburton. Many U.S. companies are there to get the oil that's there."

...As debates swirl over the outsourcing of white-collar jobs, how U.S. corporations abuse workers in developing countries and whether Congress should raise the federal minimum wage, it's perplexing why, during a time of war, we aren't talking more about the exploitation of our soldiers."
***********************************

US corporations are not only using our soldiers, but their spouses, their children, their parents, and all of their loved ones...let us not forget the human cost of occupation, and how man lives are affected by this unjust war...

The offical numbers as of 7-15-06 (do not include other nation's soldiers, Iraqi soldiers, Iraqi civilians)

American Deaths 2549 & counting
American Wounded 18,490 & counting

Every politician should have to spend at least a month at Walter Reed Hospital in the Rehabilitation area...

Hey Anon 11:43...you really gotta educate yourself. Faux entertainment is not news.

It's unlikely you'll get Fitz to go over the case with you.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time either. Come cry on my shoulder when your boys go down, it is so pitiful when grown men cry...there, there- or do you support fascism AND the overthrow of the United States government?

The Marine JAG I talked to yesterday knows-why don't you?
