"Quotes Of The Day..."

Plame: "I and my former colleagues trusted the government to protect us in our jobs" and said it "betrayed that trust. I'd much rather be continuing my career as a public servant than as a plaintiff in a lawsuit."

Wilson: "We are under no illusions about how tough this fight will be. But we believe the time has come to hold those who use their official positions to exact personal revenge accountable and responsible for their actions." <more>

Yours truly: KICK SOME CIVIL BUTT!

Well, that press conference of the Wilsons' lawsuit really presented just two people that are Amercan citzens that devoted 43 years as a public servant to the government. As Ms Wilson said that the government betrayed her. Again, Ms. Wilson was betrayed by the goverment that she trusted for 21 years and so was ex-CIA Robert Baer betrayed by the same government. I agree with Joe Wilson that the public officals need to be held accountable. But, the public who are listening to the Wilsons and why they are filing a civil suit, a lesson needs to be learned by them. If they are willing to step up and demand from their public officals and leaders to be held accountable for their actions as U.S. citizens, then the American people need to do the same.

Folks,

It is not an individual person that can bring down this Administration and hold them accountable as well as Congress and Senate and other public officials. It is all up to us as a team: American people. It is not just up to the presecutors like Fitzgerald, Andrew Laurie, Sean Berkowitz, Ronnie Earle, and others to bring down the evil doers. It is up to the U.S. citzens as a unison to hold our public officials accountable in their job positions and put the public officals who are NOT serving the public and their job positions out of business!!!

Unfortunately, there are millions of people out there who don't get it, who either buy the BS put out by Rove, Bush etc. or else think that this is just another spat between political enemies.

For those people, the "lesson" will be learned, if at all, when it becomes personal to them. Figure out how to make the lesson personal for those people, and you will see some real positive changes.

My fear is that we are running out of time. At some point there could be a political "explosion" in the US, which would play right into the hands of the fascists now calling many of the shots in the US government. (Bush is not a fascist, he's just an enabler of fascists.)

Let's not mince any words, people like Addington, Yoo and Cheney are at heart fascists. They need to be stopped, politically, now.

Hi guys yes I support the Wilson's effort to bring justice this leak matter. I put my money as support because it's easy to say I'm behind you but fighting this group of criminals is costly. Now I have been asked by all candidates to donate but I have all have a problem with impeaching Bush. So now I realized my money is not only helping fight for justice but it's going to all those who are past and future whistle blowers.
Fitz asked us once to all do something to make changes well this is a change worth putting my money where my mouth is. Those funny naming drinks at Starbucks cost $5 to 6 dollars I felt justice was worth something. I also like that fact that money is going to a Trust Fund, unlike Libby's give me what you got Fund. Fitz has helped me understand and follow this case for years now. I thought it was the lease I could do to help. Now as for the Little Angel's case it's not over til the fat lady sings and she is far away from singing. Justice is a long process and somethings the spin/re appointments/mistakes don't work. A Grand Jury not Fitzgerald has found probable cause for a trial some reason to say we doubt that this person is telling the hold truth. The biggest mistake Gonzales could make is not reappointing Fitz because it leaving the public with doubt of innocence and not clearing the charge. Now I think these guys aren't smart so Fitz most likely wont be reappointed, the next Special Prosecutor will have to find a legal way for the Government to drop the charges and stop the investigation. But the civil case by the Wilson's will give bases to the fact that the Government fixed a criminal charge. For a law student this is a lesson in law, for the public its a waiting case.
That fact remains that Fitzgerald and his team open the eyes of the public to corruption in the White House and folks that goes down in history and I'm very proud of them.

GOP can be questioned in phone scandal
Judge grants request to allow depositions
By Rick Klein, Globe Staff | July 14, 2006

WASHINGTON -- A New Hampshire judge yesterday cleared the way for Democrats to question top Republican Party officials -- including its former national committee chairman -- in connection with a 2002 phone-jamming scheme, as a local political scandal continues to reach into the realm of national politics.

Hillsborough County Superior Court Judge Philip Mangones granted the Democrats' request to allow depositions of Republican officials. Each subpoena would have to be granted on a case-by-case basis, however. If individual subpoenas are granted, officials will be forced to answer questions under oath about whether they were involved in the plan to tie up Democratic get-out-the-vote hot lines on Election Day 2002.

``We want to figure out the scope of the conspiracy," said Finis E. Williams III, an attorney for the New Hampshire Democratic Party. ``Was the White House involved in this? We'd like to know that. The Republicans have never to this day come forward and come clean and said who was involved in this and who wasn't."

Among those in question are Ed Gillespie, who was Republican National Committee chairman at the time of the incident; former RNC political director Terry Nelson, who is now a top adviser to Senator John McCain of Arizona; and Alicia Davis, who worked in the White House political affairs office under Ken Mehlman, the current RNC chairman.

Williams said the Democratic Party will seek to compel testimony from Gillespie, Nelson, Davis, and at least five other officials. He said the party may also try to depose Mehlman, depending on the testimony the others give. Democrats also want to force the White House to identify who spoke to New Hampshire Republican operatives in the days surrounding the election.

Through his ruling, the judge made subpoenas possible, but he did not include individual requests for specific depositions. An RNC lawyer, Robert Kelner, indicated yesterday in court that some of the subpoenas may be contested.

National GOP leaders, including Gillespie and Mehlman, have denied knowing about the scheme in advance and say Democrats are using the situation to score political points. Kelner said the RNC did not fight the efforts to allow subpoenas because party leaders have nothing to hide, though he said each individual will decide whether to testify.

``To my mind, this appears to be largely a political exercise aimed at an election-year audience," Kelner said.

According to court testimony, officials with the New Hampshire Republican Party hired a telemarketing company to tie up the hot lines Democrats and a local firefighters' union had set up to help get voters to the polls. The scheme was called off after less than 90 minutes, after state party officials questioned its legality.

The incident, however, led to the conviction of two Republican Party officials -- one associated with the state party and one with the national party -- as well as an executive of the company that conducted the automated phone calls.

The phone jamming occurred as voters chose between Representative John E. Sununu and Governor Jeanne Shaheen in one of the most closely watched Senate races in the country. Sununu won the race by about 20,000 votes, helping Republicans regain control of the Senate.

Democrats point to phone records that show that James Tobin, the national GOP official convicted in the scheme, had regular contact with the White House and the RNC during the three days in which the plan was finalized and carried out.

Tobin was the RNC's regional director for the Northeast during the 2002 elections, and the party has covered his legal bills, which have totaled more than $2 million. Tobin, who was sentenced in May to 10 months in prison, has appealed his conviction.

``Top Republican operatives will finally have to answer questions about their involvement in an illegal scandal aimed at stopping people from voting," said Michael Gehrke, executive director of the Senate Majority Project, a Democratic interest group that conducted the analysis of phone records.

The GOP depositions would become part of a civil lawsuit Democrats have filed against Republicans, seeking unspecified damages stemming from the jamming. The trial is to begin Nov. 27 -- meaning the pretrial depositions would occur in the months leading up to the congressional elections.

Very good. Start holding public officials accountable as we find out the truth by convincing them or some to com out with a "truthout" promising no convictions in hope of figuring out the big picture. I'm not feeling so good about the idea that Bush got in during the turn of the century, after 9/11 Fundamentalist Christians preach that it is Armageddon, and the best way to speed it up is to build a christian church on a particular piece of land in Jerusalem? I'd have to dig for the history- but I know they have more than one charity for it. Then this Israel stuff- I want Bush or the Masons to tell the truth. They won't let me in even though by rights I meet the geaneology-criteria. Fitzgerald- my Uncle Marvin saw the article written up and linked yesterday- what's been going on in a synopsis essentially, he has joined up and says "you're it."
I know you should be honored- but you might not understand right away. Everybody be ready for vietnam heroes and ex-masons that want the truth and want to tell the truth arriving.
Snitchin' is bitchin'.

Do you know what the success rate for prosecutors who retry after the defense lays out their case in a mistrial? Just think of this civil action as an enhanced mistrial where the defense lays out it's case for all to see. The prosecutor then goes back to make an air tight case by countering every argument the defense can present.

The rules of evidence in a civil action are far more compelling and broader than those in a criminal action. Everything, and I do mean everything, will be discovered in this civil case. OJ won one and lost one because the evidence was open for all to see. It will be OJ in reverse. Even if the plaintiffs do not prevail, the damage will be extensive.

Market hunters call it the stalking horse method of hunting.

How many paragraphs of claims, assertions, and allegations, how many causes of action in that complaint document? I'm glad I don't have to face such detailed accusations with a hot shot like Fitzgerald, on the prowl for my scalp, waiting for the defense strategies to be seen and developed. Brrr. Scary!

As to perceptions of what the majority of people want, wingnut claims of boredom are no indication. This civil action has just begun. What develops as the court works will be far from boring. It feels good to know, as the wingnuts so frequently claim, the courts are filled with liberal activist judges, the kind who will bury the reactionary, political opportunist, traitors charged in this case.

Did I mention the televised OJ trails? There are no rules against televising a civil trial. Any station can demand access for their media. Smart beautiful blond spy, fighting for the security of the nation against the evil bomb builders of Iran, betrayed by vengeful bureaucrats, and now fighting for truth, justice, and the American way, and it's even called news.

So much for boredom.

It's been a long week....I'm reading the comments, and they're the same old frustrated remarks that we all have been thinking /feeling for 7 years. Don't get me wrong, I agree. But the truth of it all, is that Diebold has rigged our votes,Americans have been betrayed by the government. We are living in a Fascist country, nobody seems to be really mad about it either. Both parties are equally guilty and they both suck. Up here in Michigan, does not matter how many letters, calls made, emails that are sent to "elected" leaders, they are all crooks. I wrote a letter many months ago to state my views to my local paper about the Plame outing and you can't imagine the outcry of anger against me. Most people are ignorant & brainwashed. I hope next week is better....

You can't give up remember how this country started by people like you not giving up. I wondered when I was a child why people fought for equal rights, I watched and learned why some of those people didn't make it but for us that did we knew fighting for justice is worth it. Anon our country is called the United States not just Michigan State so keep fighting for justice and you'll see the postive results.

TREASON???????????

Valerie Plame, and she has worked for the CIA for years. Plame is not an analyst or a secretary. Plame is what the CIA calls a NOC, which stands for "non-official cover." A NOC designation means that Valerie Plame was working under such DEEP cover that she could not be associated with the American intelligence community in any way, shape or form.

Plame worked out of a CIA front company called Brewster Jennings & Associates while she performed her service to America's defense. Her service? Valerie Plame RAN a CALNDESTINE global network designed to track any person, group or nation that might try to deliver weapons of mass WMD destruction to terrorists.

Not long after Wilson's editorial ran in the Times, individuals within the Bush administration cold-called several journalists and informed them that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA. One of these calls went to Robert Novak, who wrote about it in his column. "Wilson never worked for the CIA," wrote Novak on July 14, "but his wife, Valerie Plame, is an Agency operative on weapons of mass destruction."

This revelation, and the subsequent firestorm that followed, had a number of effects. Most prominently, it annihilated an intelligence network dedicated to keeping weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of terrorists. It destroyed the VIABILITY of Brewster Jennings & Associates as a CIA FRONT COMPANY, thus WRECKING the work of EVERY other agent who worked from there.

It put the lives of Plame's informants within her network in mortal peril; when an agent gets blown, foreign intelligence agencies - especially ones in unfriendly countries - tend to ERASE the people that agent associated with as a matter of national security. It put Plame's life in peril as well; those same foreign intelligence services would prefer Plame be DEAD for revealing sensitive data about their activities.

.... "Did they know she was a clandestine operator? The number of people in the administration who knew what my wife did for a living is very small

Correct. A "NOC" is the most hazardous duty an agent can undertake.

The CIA will deny all knowledge and existence of such if caught by the enemy and leave them to their fate alone.

"Case dismissed" would cause an outrage surpassing Nixon's Saturday Night Special.

The worst President in history and the most hated ever by the world community is capapable of out doing Nixon so yes maybe they'll wiggle out of this too.

But it will only make them look worse.

Folks,

The latest from Truthout.org from Jason. Here is an excerpt:

On September 14, 2003, during an interview with Tim Russert of NBC's "Meet the Press," Cheney maintained that he didn't know Wilson or have any knowledge about his Niger trip or who was responsible for leaking his wife's name to the media.
"I don't know Joe Wilson," Cheney said, in response to Russert, who quoted Wilson as saying there was no truth to the Niger uranium claims. "I've never met Joe Wilson. And Joe Wilson - I don't who sent Joe Wilson. He never submitted a report that I ever saw when he came back ... I don't know Mr. Wilson. I probably shouldn't judge him. I have no idea who hired him."
That was a lie. Cheney knew Wilson well. He spent months obsessing about him.

"Cheney and Libby made it clear that Wilson had to be shut down," the CIA official said. "This wasn't just about protecting the credibility of the White House. For the vice president, going after Wilson was purely personal, in my opinion."

We cannot get involved with sending in any troops to Iran, Syria, Lebanon, or Israel right now. It will turn into World War III.

Both Hezbollah and Israel were looking for excuses to shoot at each other for a while. No one else needs to get involved with the violence.

night owl,

I see no recourse for the United States, Ahmadinejad has already planned for the demise of Israel.

If the United States remains out of it, they're gonna gang up on Israel.

You see, Ahmadinejad knows that if the US interferes with Iran, then Russia and China will get into it....

...That's what Osama wants and he's probably in contact with Ahmadinejad and they want to issue in their Mahdi messiah.

The Party's on Night Owl...

Two suspects, one known as Night Owl and the other known as Global Evildoer Fighter aka Agent 86, were arrested today by Special Prosecutor Biloxi aka Superman.

Biloxi stated at a press conference that these two suspects were divulging high security information concerning his trip to Canada. Biloxi said, "America will be safer, now that these two big mouth bloggers are off the blog!"

NO-Get Smart! Couldn't think of it-though I faithfully watched it as a kid-and read Nancy Drew. Which explains a lot of things about me ;-) Any assistance on the 'id' is greatly appreciated.

GEF-Well isn't that just great-another angry Prez at the wheel. One that wants to show how tough he is AND "teach some lessons". But I wonder what they can do-thinking back to the Iraq-Iran war. Do you think Putin is stupid enough to begin WWIII? Maybe not-but the Chinese? Did you know gerbil canned the Mutual Assured destruction theory of war too? T--Good luck.

You actually set up an account like you are going to create a blog, but if you do not want a new one or create one, you just keep going. So, after you create a username and password, and give an e-mail address (it does not have to be public) at:

http://www.blogger.com/start

keep going to creat a blog. When you get to Start Posting, just sign out. You will not actually create a blog.

Then, sign back in and skip creating a blog. If you scroll down, on the right side you will see a link to: "Add a photo by editing your profile." Clicking that link will give you all kinds of options.

GEF, Yes indeed on them wanting to invade Taiwan as soon as they think we aren't looking...Geez, did you guys see this in the WaPo? I am staying down the road from where this happened. Me and snore lady have a girlfriend who lives here. Those Bushies are NUTS-more proof:

"A former Bush administration" official, after arguing violently with his wife Thursday night, shot and killed his 12-year-old son inside their McLean home, then turned a shotgun on himself and committed suicide, Fairfax County police said.

William H. Lash III, 45, was an assistant secretary of commerce from 2001 until last year, then returned to teach at George Mason University Law School in Arlington, where he had begun as a professor in 1994. His wife, Sharon K. Zackula, fled the house before the shootings, and police said yesterday they were not sure what ignited the murder-suicide in a first-floor bedroom.

I wonder if North Korea has another Taepoedong missle ready to launch? I wouldn't put it past them to have done those "test" missles to make us think they can't hit America. Also, they have ONE MILLION soldiers in uniform. We all know if Iran gets involved then North Korea, China and possibly Russia will join. What was it... not long ago, Russia's military was training with China or North Korea military?

Al Qaeda says...

We stand united behind the GOP , the republicans, and all, who
refuse to question your President.

As luck would have it, inadvertently and unknown to themselves,
‘our’ ‘team’ is impressive indeed. To list a few:
Cheney, Addington, Yoo, Hayden, Hadley, all members of the AEI,
Bradberry, Murdock, the Bush bros and fathers, Mobbs, Roberts -
(we are still waiting for the second part of your report), Rove,
(special thanks to RG Joseph ;) ), and of course Al. We are especially
indebted to the Blackwater crew, who have replace our embedded
US homeland cells admirably. AIPAC’s efforts to pin the label anti-semantic
to anything that undermines a continued war, earns a honorable mention.

Before you go ballistic(nuclear), we take this opportunity to say good-bye.
We are confident that you have set unprecedented foundations, (that will go on forever), for all nations of the world to follow.

Those efforts, we are sure, will be duplicated, to divide nations
and undermine anything remotely taking on the guise of democracy –
long after you have nuked us.
We thank you for our and your legacy.

Signed,

GrandmaNuk, you are right on target. The same thing happened in Iraq, too. They had elections and whoa, a bunch of Shi'ites got elected!

The picture of Bush and Putin was hilarious. Bush looks like he is ready for the 'special' vodka. Shop owners in Russia often keep bottles of really watered down vodka to sell to people so drunk they would not be able to tell the difference. The shop owners make more of a profit that way by stretching the vodka supply.

Coulter is such a bitch--someone on TV blog wrote a good comparison to Fred Phelps who is so filled with hate and so un-Christian that he does not deserve the title minister. Part One Under Attack is pretty good--at one point the guy uses a *hypothetical* analogy of her using drugs in the green room.

GEF--Yeah, I've got nothing to hide from the NSA and they are wasting their time by checking in on us. But with the current trend of employers Googling potential employees, I would not use my real name to post, though.
