White House paying $100,000 salary to "Director of Lessons Learned"
by John in DC - 7/12/2006 11:25:00 AM

Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) offers a few more lessons learned:
Mr. Speaker, yesterday the President said we continue to be wise about how we spend the people's money.

"Then why are we paying over $100,000 for a 'White House Director of Lessons Learned'?

"Maybe I can save the taxpayers $100,000 by running through a few of the lessons this White House should have learned by now.

"Lesson 1: When the Army Chief of Staff and the Secretary of State say you are going to war without enough troops, you're going to war without enough troops.

"Lesson 2: When 8.8 billion dollars of reconstruction funding disappears from Iraq, and 2 billion dollars disappears from Katrina relief, it's time to demand a little accountability.

"Lesson 3: When you've 'turned the corner' in Iraq more times than Danica Patrick at the Indy 500, it means you are going in circles.

"Lesson 4: When the national weather service tells you a category 5 hurricane is heading for New Orleans, a category 5 hurricane is heading to New Orleans.

"I would also ask the President why we're paying for two 'Ethics Advisors' and a 'Director of Fact Checking.'

"They must be the only people in Washington who get more vacation time than the President.

"Maybe the White House could consolidate these positions into a Director of Irony."

And yes, you do deserve a raise, my friend! The DOJ office should created a position and title called: Director of Removal of Graft!

"I wouldn't think it possible for Gonzo and Bush to look even more devious and guilty." Well, that is the choice the Gerbil has to make. And if he and Gonzo choose the path of not appointing Fitzgerald for personal and political reasons, both of them will deal with consequences of their decision. And their fate will not be good. Speaking of the Gerbil. From Thinkprogress:

Bush may trim Crawford vacation.

“The White House is concerned enough about President Bush’s job rating…that word of reduction in vacation time at Crawford next month is being put about,” the Houston Chronicle reports. “Bush may be so desperate to look engaged that, even if he’s not in Washington, aides say he will spend more August nights on the road away from his Prairie Chapel Ranch.”

It seems I remember a post awhile back...that Fitz said Chicago was a "temporary assignment"? Anyone else remember that post?

I found it..it was on May 31.

Yes, I remembered that S-Q,! And it up to Gonzo to reappoint him back in that decision! So, the fate in unfortunately in Gonzo's hands.. Even though the situation sounds grim, we have no idea what will transpire from that Administration in corruption between now and appoximately October. Tomorrow is promissory note!

The 1.7 of that number are the millionaires. The 313 are the billionairs...in the US.

Current US population: 298444275
(July 2006 Est.)

So... 0.0056% or about 1/175th of one percent of the total US population have close to 3 trillion dollars.

I belong to the "have nots".
My conscious is clean. I can afford honesty, truth, justice and the american way.

I am in good company. 99.44% americans have less than a million dollars. We can't afford dishonesty, injustices or the unamerican way.

Hmm, if you get that raise, don't follow that trail of money. :)

How much longer until Daley "is out of office"-or for the less optimistic, how much longer is his term? Also can someone give me a quick pro quo on Gonzalez?
I hope Mr. Fitzgerald, that you have that "ace" up your sleeve, if not, I still have mine. It's just a rumour- but it could be true- usually the "guys" don't lie to me, you know? Well, a rumour is just that. Right. I really hope, and pray that Bush forces Gonzales to keep you because - just because it's a good idea. You should get a raise- I should have my state vendor job, and my business. I hope your luck is far better than mine. If you ever need me for a crimes against humanity trial, just come get me.I don't know why nobody cares- "a small group" we are a small group. When Daley got wind of what I was saying, he retorted with "it's all propaganda". Well, Daley, your life has been nothing but one propaganda machine covering up what you do, to the people of not only chicago, but it reaches to Wisconsin, Indiana and ALL of Illinois. You pissed off some of your old friends, some became my friends. Bush, how dare you, not even look at chicago politics after I put my neck on the chopping block for truth and integrity! I've lost friends, family, my health, all for a spot on your "Patriot List". I'm so fucking honored that you call me a Patriot and my corporation has gone nowhere and Daley just swept you off your feet with all the same lies. He's good. But not good enough to get away from it all. See, I know what they did to a man that fell for his lies, he wasn't given a fair trial, it wasn't even one evening at Cook- you did it to alot of people- how else can you keep th reign of terror a secret to the world? Murder those who know the truth. Bush, I hope you read this, I hope one day you will know the whole horrid past 10 years and how you commended me for my integrity and then left me to the wolves. I was around your daughters ages when it was happenning. I had no father to protect me. No mother. An easy target for Daley- he isn't a public servant- he serves his needs by using the "public"- we are his toys, and have been for years. You would have to grow up in it to understand it the way I live with it. And I told your Homeland Security, I thought you gave a damn. I saved lives, but I failed in saving the "alpha". Remember Mr.Bush? Does skull and bones still carry around john babtiste's head? You should really put it in a museum, not hoard it for yourselves, maybe us peasants that saved your ass might want to see it before you take down this nation and the upper-lower middle classes dissapear. All the money in the world won't protect anyone. You will see. SARAH

This Administration is stupid. Okay, stating the obvious, I know, but by not re-appointing Fitzgerald, it will look like they're saying yes to graft.

What I think is, that Bush never cared much what people thought but with only two years left he's no longer even pretending. The polls can't go much lower so they're just blindly grabbing what they can while they still can.

They act like they believe the worst is behind them, they survived it, and they can continue with business as usual.

What is Bradbury of the DOJ sucking up for is there another person leaving Bush's cabinet? Only a fool agrees with everything a person says or their looking for higher job appointment. This man gives the DOJ a back name.
Matlin is a back seat attorney now. I do understand why. After the sorry story Rove gave in LA and the fact that Spanish people will vote someone had to say all this was a dream. I know her husband is laughing.
Oh I also hear that Bush ordered that the US use the Geneva Rule in the military, now if memory serves me right Bush said while having people tortured that the US didn't have to follow the rule. Look for the international law suits to follow.
I knew when this idiot started running wild and invading countries that others would use the same excuse to do the same thing. Now Bush as open Pandora's box as the Middle East, Asia and Israel start a war. It only took one lunatic to create world terror.
I researched Dubai and they own a lot of stuff. Now I was thinking Bush is spying on overseas investors, eavesdropping on everybody to stop the terrorist from getting money. The Bin Liden family has shares of Dubai so all they have to do is give the money to their son. Look Bush Senior and Golden Sachs owns share no way that money will be shut down.

Why we can't follow the money
The Pentagon is at war with the Congressional Research service about the cost of the Iraq war so far and how much we will have spent by next year. The Congressional Research Service (CRS) says that the total cost of the war so far is $319 billion but the DOD says it is $210 billion. It is comparing apples and oranges because the CRS is counting all the money that has been spent and the money that has been appropriated and the DOD is counting just money that has been spent.

CRS estimates that the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will top $500 billion next year and that Congress has increased their appropriations 72% since 2004. They can't explain the large jumps in costs in operations and maintenance costs because the amount of troops have stayed the same. The debate goes on and on about the overall and rising costs.

Would someone provide a link on the Fitzgerald removal from the Plame case? Thanks

Jackie: Recall last week when all reporters but FOX news were to be removed from Guantanamo coverage? Of course, the fascists will now say they will follow Geneva, because FOX will say so and no one will be there to counter with the truth.

Fitz can't be touched, at least in the following analysis by Marcia Macmullan:

And, wasn't Fitz reappointed in Oct. '05 for four more years?

Contess37 your most likely right Gonzales wont renew Fitzgerals contact. If I were as guilty as these guys I would want Fitz remeoved too. Maybe with a new appointee the case can be dismissed. Even the other criminals like Abramoff, DeLay and Duke can have their cases overturned and go free. Look no friend of the President's should be charged with a crime only those other people. As for Fitz the world knows he's honest, knowledgable and can go anywhere he wants. That's the way God takes care of those who follow His teachings. Satan will reward this like Bush and his follows that go by Satans rule. Your right about Fitz having a great life ahead, I only hope he can find someone to share that with. I guess all that will work out too.

Mr. Pitt your right who knows if the words of returning to the Geneva Rules is actually being done. Now we know Bush wouldn't lie about anything right. The secret jails well we're not sure but if they are is it a crime. We will pay for the crimes we've committed. Now that Bush as admitted he broke the Geneva Rule look for millions of law suits to follow. I guess the US has enough money since we pay $2,550 per person we kill in Iraq and Afgan. We pay for propaganda so we can pay the law suits to millions that we tortured or killed. As for money we can always borrow again from the Saudi's and China. Money isn't a problem, because all the debt and problems will be left for so other President to fix.

Hi Jackie:

I'd like to see verification-not just spot checks and prearranged times. Why not the Red Cross and two other human rights groups assert themselves here. I'd like to see photos and videos...because after all, Bush is abiding by Geneva now.
