Hi GEF nice to hear from you. Everytime I think of Foley Hastert I get sick to my stomach. Kids should be protected. We don't even know how many children were abused by Foley as he's been in office for 12 years. Then it's when he wasn't in office who has he hit on.
It's scary when you see people with titles that are perverts. I'm even scared for Fitz yes I know he's grown but Washington is letting out all the dirt and dirty people. Between Peaches in Afghan and Fitz in Washington I'll be old before my time. My hair can't get any whiter.

Yeah, I guess hastert should stay in the race, as he has this to say about himself:

"Some say I have an incredible memory or recall for exactly what happened when and who said what to whom. I do listen pretty diligently, more than a lot of people listen, and I do pick up on facts that way."

9:32 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

The fact is all this stuff should have never, been allowed to happen to begin with.

junkyard dog tom flocco warned us about this ages ago.

Did anyone really listen though? no....

They should all be hosed and forced to appear before the international criminal court.

When we let Israel as well as nuclear arms dealers take over our intelligence apparatus, and get ensconsed in the state department this always happens.

They can then automatically out our american CIA agents, tie up the constitution, and literally do whatever they want with the media.

And then we say they get away with
it because these people are so clever. I say nonsense..

AIPAC and the ATC should be made to pay dearly, and once we get out of this hamstring we need to rethink our relationship to the middle east once and for all.

The perfection of this scandal lies in its substance, not its theatrics. The Foley scandal is not -- as even some Bush opponents have asserted -- an aberrational, isolated, inconsequential melodrama that is unrelated to the substantive and important critiques of the Bush movement and which just coincidentally emerged as a cynical weapon that can be used to defeat the Republicans. The opposite is true. This scandal has resonated so powerfully because it is shining such a powerful light on the towering hubris, utter lack of intellectual and ethical integrity, and deeply engrained corruption that accounts for virtually every other Bush disaster -- from Iraq to law-breaking scandals to torture to Abrahmoff-type corruption schemes and everything in between.

___

It truely is the tip of the iceberg and because of all the cover-ups for so many years, that iceberg is melting fast. Action must be taken before it is gone and justice served.

couric-gay/

Last night on Katie Couric’s CBS Evening News, this homophobic conspiracy theory was paraded to tens of millions of people. Their segment featured Family Research Council president Tony Perkins suggesting that the House leadership failed to investigate Foley months ago because they were “afraid to stand up to that network” of gay GOP staffers.-------

Katie Couric must have a lot of pull because CBS has changed so much under her. Some of the excuses are downright stupid given about the Republicans and Bush. I cannot stand this witch.

Because I cannot sleep well at nights, I see a lot of their news. They might as well start being called the Bushcon network of cover-ups. May they all get what they have coming to them when the house of cards finally falls.

May Miss Jackie box Fitz's ears if he gives Couric an interview ever.

As a mother, Katie Couric should be ashamed of herself. As a broadcaster, she needs help. She must impress herself the most, certainly not the viewers.

Stealing from FHA and HUD doesn't help the cause. Putting farmers out of business doesn't feed people. Most likely, city folks buy smaller farms as a 'get-away' from the city on week-ends or as hunting grounds.

Stealing money period is no excuse nor is stealing elections or raping children. Who makes up these rules anyway?

The Foley scandal is so perfectly tailored -- one could even say artistically designed -- to expose every character flaw of this country's Republican leaders (and their followers), and it has evolved so flawlessly (like the most brilliantly coordinated symphony), that one is almost inclined to believe that it was divinely inspired. It is difficult to believe that human beings (let alone Democrats) could create something so perfect (as Billmon wrote in comments here the other day, the relentless efficiency of this scandal is proof positive that Democrats had nothing to do with it). I agree with John Podhoretz's description:

The Old Man Upstairs has created an October Surprize that Rove could never imagine...
and I know my tiny prayers to the universe are being heard..becase they are being comebined with all other prayers..

This says it all

http://glenngreenwald.blogspot

their attempted use of those tactics is making things much worse for them, because people can see that Bush followers are attempting -- through the use of patently dishonest and corrupt tactics -- to excuse the inexcusable. And seeing that, it gives great credence to all of the accusations voiced over the last five years that this is how the Bush movement operates in every area, because people can now see it for themselves.

In that regard, this scandal is like the Cliffs' Notes version of a more complicated treatise on how the Bush movement operates. Every one of their corrupt attributes is vividly on display here:

5:07 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Prime examples of excusing the inexcusable
For the second straight day yesterday, Sen. Joe Lieberman attacked critics of the burgeoning scandal surrounding the cover up of Rep. Mark Foley’s sexually predatory behavior in Congress. Specifically, Lieberman again attacked as too “partisan” those who are demanding Speaker Hastert immediately resign after evidence has emerged that Hastert knew about Foley’s behavior months ago. The question is why would someone like Lieberman use Connecticut’s Senate seat to prevent those involved in a child sexual predator scandal from being held accountable?

reporter asked House ethics committee chairman Doc Hastings (R-WA) if he supports Speaker Hastert. “I think the Speaker has done an excellent job,” Hastings replied.

Today on his radio program, Rush Limbaugh blamed Congressional pages for Mark Foley’s misconduct. He said that the communications reported by ABC were example of “young kids” who like to “make fun of gay people.” Rush’s evidence? As a child, he used to order refrigerators over the phone for adults he thought were “odd or weird” as a prank.

"I’m looking at every single bit of public and private data,” Mr. Mehlman said. “So far, I have seen a minimal effect of this particular situation, which is not to say that I don’t take it seriously."

White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said, “We support her decision and consider the matter closed.”

this list could go on an on

Good Morning All,

Good posts E. I wonder how much longer until the WH facade cracks wide open-they can't keep it going much longer.

"Iraq for Sale" yes CC and SBP I am interested to know what you think about it. The soldier in my family watched it and said it confirmed what he saw while in Iraq and it made him angry that so many lives were wasted for a bunch of fat cats.

We are showing it for the community and doing Q&A afterward.

In the beginning of this war, when parents began to complain about lack of armor, etc one commander was asked what his "biggest problem" was- and that old fool said "Mama's boys"

He's lucky I wasn't there when he said it;-)

This son of bitch needs put out of business. Wasn't there rumors recently about this fat slob liking boys? Who is Rush speaking about anyway, himself? If you need medication to keep it up, you need to touch someone your own age. Damn pedophiles.

Anon 11:01 I concur. Stephens work speaks volumns

Foley could face charges in some states

Federal law generally requires a person to meet, or attempt to meet, a minor for sex before a crime has been committed. But in some states where the Florida Republican communicated with children, attempting to seduce a minor might be enough to bring charges.

A senior Justice Department official who didn't want to be identified says federal prosecutors investigating Foley are examining whether Florida authorities might be better positioned to seek charges against him.
