I was due to speak this evening, in Manhattan, to a group called Network 20/20 comprising young business leaders, NGO, academics, etc, from the US and many countries. Topic: the Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy. The meetings are always held at the Polish Consulate in Manhattan.
I just received a call from the President of Network 20/20. The talk was cancelled because the Polish Consulate had been threatened by the Anti-Defamation League. Serial phone calls from ADL President Abe Foxman warned them off hosting anything involving Tony Judt. If they persisted, he warned, he would smear the charge of Polish collaboration with anti-Israeli anti-Semites (= me) all over the front page of every daily paper in the city (an indirect quote). They caved and Network 20/20 were forced to cancel.
Whatever your views on the Middle East I hope you find this as serious and frightening as I do. This is, or used to be, the United States of America.

When someone like Abe Foxman starts raving and ranting “anti-semitism…anti-semitism”, it’s usually a good indication that some brave soul has struck a nerve by daring to tell the truth about the Zionist Mafia. When Foxman and his gang cry “anti-semitism”, politicians and journalists literally piss and shit themselves through and through. The ADL not only defines “anti-Semitism”, but also tells writers and politicians what to think and who to blame for “terrorist attacks”. Yes indeed, only you wouldn't believe how hard it is for those kids to get a job! vets in the 20-25 age bracket 60% unemployment. I know two that have worked since they were 13yrs old (and stayed at the same place till it closed!)-one it took 6 months the other 9 months! Wendy's wouldn't even hire them! The new House report makes clear that when Jack Abramoff wasn’t stealing money from the Indian tribes who were his clients, he was wielding influence in both Congress and the White House. His team of lobbyists made an extraordinary 485 contacts with members of the Bush administration between January 2001 and March 2004, 345 of which were in person (the rest were phone conversations or e-mail exchanges). The key point of contact was Susan Ralston, who went from working as Abramoff’s personal assistant to working as Karl Rove’s personal assistant. Her e-mails show the level of access the Abramoff team enjoyed. “Thanks for breakfast,” an e-mail from Ralston to one of Abramoff’s lobbyists reads. “I showed KR the binder ... He gave the binder to Mehlman to read cover to cover and to be prepared. Mehlman will be at the meeting.’” That, of course, refers to Ken Mehlman, then a White House political strategist and now chairman of the Republican Party. “Abramoff is someone who we don’t know a lot about,” Mehlman said a few months ago. “We know what we read in the paper.”
In their defense, the White House has argued that Abramoff didn’t get most of what he wanted from them. While this is true, he was not entirely unsuccessful. The Government Reform committee’s report showed that Abramoff’s team apparently succeeded in arranging the removal of a State Department official named Allen Stayman, who had advocated labor reforms in the Marianas Islands. “Mehlman said he would get him fired,” read an e-mail from one of Abramoff’s lobbyists. Later, Stayman was told by his superior “that politics had been brought into the decision, which Stayman took to mean White House involvement, and as a result Stayman’s appointment would not be renewed.” Soon after, according to the committee’s report, “Susan Ralston reported to Abramoff that the Office of Presidential Personnel and the State Department had ‘worked out a deal’ and that Stayman would ‘be out in four months.’”
Abramoff’s client, the government of the Marianas Islands (a U.S. protectorate), wanted to maintain their ability to operate textile factories with virtual slave labor conditions yet put “Made in the U.S.A.” on their products. In one of the ugliest vignettes of the Abramoff scandal, Rep. Ralph Hall, R-Texas, who took a junket to the Marianas and had numerous contacts with Abramoff’s office, inserted in the Congressional Record an attack on a 15-year-old girl who had been vocal about her sexual slavery in the Marianas and told her story (Hall argued that she was a willing participant)."

Okay, back to the rumor. As I hear it, I supposedly had the Foley emails and/or salacious "instant messages" for 2 years now, or something like that, but I decided to sit on them until just before the election, then, as the rumor goes, I secretly set up a separate blogger blog on which I published the emails just last week, apparently to push the story into the mainstream media right before the election (because I didn't have another blog on which I could publish them?).
A second rumor has Reynolds' now-former chief of staff, and former Foley chief of staff, Kirk Fordham giving me access to Foley's AOL account - apparently because I blackmailed him, not sure with what - so that I could personally get a copy of Foley's instant message traffic. First off, it's not clear why in God's name Foley's former chief of staff, and still good friend, would want to screw Foley. And second, I'm pretty sure you can't get copies of your IM discussions via your AOL account - but hey, no one ever said that Hannity and his minions were good with facts.
Anyway, as you know, I published the Foley emails on my blog last Thursday after ABC News story broke. I had received the emails in July, as I already explained on this blog last Thursday, but I didn't think it was appropriate to publish allegations of pedophilia/child sex predation, even against a member of the other political party, until I had all the facts (and not being Speaker Hastert, it's not like I had access to the House GOP leadership, to Foley or the pages to quiz them about the emails). Shortly after I received the emails, I found out that CREW had also received copies of the emails and had immediately passed them to the FBI. I figured that took care of the situation (silly me to trust George Bush's FBI, they didn’t investigate) and I let the issue go until I saw ABC had published the story last week and that Foley had confirmed to ABC that the emails were real.
Don't get me wrong. I'd love to be personally responsible for bringing down the entire House GOP leadership and handing both houses of Congress to the Democrats. Nothing would make me happier, and it would be a hell of a boost for the blog and my career. So had I set up that stopsexpredators Web site, I'd be taking credit for it right now - and in any case, if I were going to publish the Foley emails, they'd be on my own blog alongside Jeff Gannon's photos. But it wasn't me, and I don't know who it was.
