And yes, Gibson (since you mention his name) did admit to his drinking problem, racial slurs to the officer, his DUI arrest and checked himself in the rehab! When the news came out about Gibson, we only heard the police version and not Mel Gibson. That is why I don't want to just to conclusions on any side. I like to hear both sides. Now, that he has admitted his wrong, he has to suffer the consequences and backlash that he is getting.. But, that is his problem! At least, Mel Gibson admitted his problem and fess up unlike the little soldier!
Scooter hasn't still come up clean in his part to discredit Wilson. And maybe whatever Mel drank that night should be passed to the little soldier! There is nothing wrong with the little soldier except he is trying to get over on Fitz, that's all... If he collected his paycheck and deposited it in the bank from the events leading to his Gilligan's defense, then there is just nothing wrong with him. The little soldier simply has the CYA disease.
And Mel being "suspected" of running his mouth? Well, Night Owl if that were the case, I guess all of us on blog including you would be guilty as charge for that!

Court: Prosecutors May Demand 'NYT' Phone Records

NEW YORK A federal appeals court on Tuesday ruled that federal prosecutors investigating a leak about a terrorism funding probe can see the phone records of two New York Times reporters.
A panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held in a 2-1 vote that prosecutors had a valid interest in seeing who had contacted the reporters.
"We see no danger to a free press in so holding," Judge Ralph K. Winter wrote for the majority.
The case involved stories written in 2001 by Times reporters Judith Miller and Philip Shenon that revealed that the government planned to freeze the assets and search the offices of two Islamic charities, the Holy Land Foundation and Global Relief Foundation.
U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald then opened a grand jury probe into the source of the newspaper reports, claiming the reporters' phone calls to the charities seeking comment had tipped them off about the investigation.
When the paper declined to identify its sources, Fitzgerald threatened to subpoena Times billing records from the phone company. The newspaper then filed a lawsuit seeking to block any such effort.
In February 2005, the newspaper appeared to achieve a victory when U.S. District Judge Robert Sweet ruled that the government had failed to prove that it had exhausted all other methods before resorting to the demand for phone records.
The 2nd Circuit panel disagreed.
"No grand jury can make an informed decision to pursue the investigation further, much less to indict or not indict, without the reporters' evidence," Winter wrote.

I say give Libby the memory dude. Now if a jury believes that Libby has memory problems what did that do to his job at the White House. Whrere their life given situtation that he lost his memory that hurt our national security or our troops? Is his lost of memory only with the CIA matter but he's sharp on everything else? Is he still having memory problems today? If Judge Walton and the jury believe that any person can selectively forget then the doors of the jails will open and future criminals will only use this as defense to go free. Now what does memory have to do with lying? All he had to say is I don't remember then he could leave. No he lied and now he's blaming memory loss. Well let's see what Judge Walton does. If it works maybe Bush/Cheney/Rummy and the GOP can just the say defense in thier criminal cases and walk.
Here's my thoughts on Mel Gibson. As of today I have read Tony Snow and Romeny use Tar Baby as other elected officials called Spanish yet there was no out cry. I'm not defending Mel but enough is enough. If a person calls God a name he/she can be forgiven. Yet if you call a Jewish person a nice and apologize you will never be forgiven. Are Jews higher or better then God now. Who among us have not committed sin? Americans aren't born racist their taught racism. Mel is wrong for what he said Tony Snow and Romeny were wrong. If Jewish people or any people can't forgive then what will God say when we ask for forgiveness. Their is so much hate in this world it's stifling. I forgive Mel, Tony Snow and Romeny as I want to be forgiven by God.

Now I remember seeing a friend of mine at a party a long time ago. She was from Japan and she was so drunk. She launched into this rambling tirade against FDR, Hiroshima, and the atomic bomb. Well, none of us took any of that seriously or held anything against her because we knew she was drunk. She did not even remember any of that the next day.

Col. Michael Steele, whose heroics were portrayed in the movie "Black Hawk Down," is under investigation for allegedly encouraging his men to go on a killing spree. The investigation begins just as the Army has started to make its case against four soldiers who are charged with murdering three Iraqi civilians while under Steele's command, ABC News has learned.
The soldiers' defense is that they were under orders to kill all military-age males.
ABC News has learned that Steele has already been reprimanded for the incident.
The hearing for the four soldiers that began today will determine if they should stand trial on murder charges. The killings took place as part of Operation Iron Triangle, which targeted a suspected al Qaeda training facility northwest of Baghdad, Iraq, in the city of Samarra.
Army prosecutors said the four American soldiers detained three Iraqi men and then killed them, unarmed, in cold blood.
The defendants claim that they acted in self-defense, claiming they were under orders to kill all military-age Iraqi men, whether or not they were armed.

We need policies for a real, lasting Middle East peace.
Leaders on both sides ignore strong majorities that crave peace, allowing extremist-led violence to preempt all opportunities for building a political consensus. Traumatized Israelis cling to the false hope that their lives will be made safer by incremental unilateral withdrawals from occupied areas, while Palestinians see their remnant territories reduced to little more than human dumping grounds surrounded by a provocative "security barrier" that embarrasses Israel's friends and that fails to bring safety or stability.
The general parameters of a long-term, two-state agreement are well known. There will be no substantive and permanent peace for any peoples in this troubled region as long as Israel is violating key U.N. resolutions, official American policy and the international "road map" for peace by occupying Arab lands and oppressing the Palestinians. Except for mutually agreeable negotiated modifications, Israel's official pre-1967 borders must be honored. As were all previous administrations since the founding of Israel, U.S. government leaders must be in the forefront of achieving this long-delayed goal.
A major impediment to progress is Washington's strange policy that dialogue on controversial issues will be extended only as a reward for subservient behavior and will be withheld from those who reject U.S. assertions. Direct engagement with the Palestine Liberation Organization or the Palestinian Authority and the government in Damascus will be necessary if secure negotiated settlements are to be achieved. Failure to address the issues and leaders involved risks the creation of an arc of even greater instability running from Jerusalem through Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad and Tehran.
The people of the Middle East deserve peace and justice, and we in the international community owe them our strong leadership and support.

(CBS) CBS News has learned that the FBI has a full-fledged espionage investigation under way and is about to -- in FBI terminology -- "roll up" someone agents believe has been spying not for an enemy, but for Israel from within the office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon.
60 Minutes Correspondent Lesley Stahl reports the FBI believes it has "solid" evidence that the suspected mole supplied Israel with classified materials that include secret White House policy deliberations on Iran.
At the heart of the investigation are two people who work at The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a powerful pro-Israel lobby in Washington.
The FBI investigation, headed up by Dave Szady, has involved wiretaps, undercover surveillance and photography that CBS News was told document the passing of classified information from the mole, to the men at AIPAC, and on to the Israelis.
CBS sources say that last year the suspected spy, described as a trusted analyst at the Pentagon, turned over a presidential directive on U.S. policy toward Iran while it was, "in the draft phase when U.S. policy-makers were still debating the policy."
This put the Israelis, according to one source, "inside the decision-making loop" so they could "try to influence the outcome."
The case raises another concern among investigators: Did Israel also use the analyst to try to influence U.S. policy on the war in Iraq?
With ties to top Pentagon officials Paul Wolfowitz and Douglas Feith, the analyst was assigned to a unit within the Defense Department tasked with helping develop the Pentagon's Iraq policy.
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has been made aware of the case. The government notified AIPAC today that it wants information about the two employees and their contacts with a person at the Pentagon.
Israel is NOT a friend of the U.S.

I remeber watching on TV very late the 60th Anniversary of D-Day hosted in France where the Gerbil and his wife attend. Talk about tension. There are so much tension between Chirac and the Gerbil that you could cut it with a knife! France has done a lot for the U.S. But, Chirac does opposed the Iraq war. Chirac simply wants the U.S. and France to mend their relationship. But, the Gerbil needs to be removed before that can happen!

Kidan has been ordered to report to prison on October 2nd, 2006
2.Bob Ney - Named by Prosecutors as Unindicted Coconspirator
One of Ney's aides in Ohio was recently subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury, with additional subpoenas of Ney’s staffers expected soon.
3. Tony Rudy - Pled Guilty - Status Conference Scheduled for October 2
Rudy's status conference was initially set for July 11th, 2006, but has been postponed until October 2nd so he can cooperate further with federal prosecutors.
4. David Safavian - Convicted - To Be Sentenced October 12
He's scheduled to be sentenced on October 12th. Safavian's lawyers have argued that some of the evidence used to convict him was impermissible, and that he deserves a new trial. A hearing will be held on August 24 to determine whether he will be tried again.
5. Michael Scanlon - Pled Guilty - Status Conference Scheduled for September 6
A status conference is scheduled for September 6th, 2006.
6. Neil Volz - Pled Guilty - Status Conference Scheduled for August 10
On May 8th, 2006 Volz pleaded gulty to a single count of conspiracy. In the plea Volz admits to conspiring with Abramoff and others to commit fraud - by giving and taking bribes - and to violate a federal ban on lobbying within one year of his congressional employment. A status conference is scheduled for August 10th.
7. Mitchell Wade - Pled Guilty - Status Conference Scheduled for August 21
8. Brent Wilkes - Named by Prosecutors as Unindicted Coconspirator
9. Jack Abramoff - Pled Guilty - Sentenced to Minimum of 5 Years, 10 Months
He is now scheduled to report to prison on October 2nd, 2006.

US court overturns convictions in Enron case
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A federal appeals court has overturned most of the convictions against four former Merrill Lynch bankers concerning a bogus deal with Enron Corp.
The four men and one former Enron executive were convicted in November 2004 of conspiracy and fraud charges connected to the sham sale in 1999 of three electricity producing barges in Nigeria by Enron to Merrill.
A jury in the case had agreed with prosecutors that Enron had illegally used the deal to inflate its profits by promising to buy back the barges in six months.
