Rummy decides to testify on Iraq war

The move came after hours of criticism and pressure from Senate Democrats who urged him to come before the

Senate Armed Services Committee to answer questions about the administration's Iraq policies. Earlier Wednesday, Rumsfeld had said that his crowded calendar did not allow him to be present for the meeting Thursday morning, but he agreed to attend a private, classified briefing in the afternoon with the entire Senate.

The ties that bind.

Someone should ask Rumsfeld about the D.U. being spread around in Iraq and Lebanon. Same birth defects on the poor Iraqi babies and children of Gulf War parents. They cannot speak out, they need the insurance for their ill children or benefits get cut off. Blackmail. Meanwhile, everyone is dying with cancer or other health problems and all these countries are toxic. Betcha Deadeye Dick and Poppy know all about it. They might have Kuwait somewhat cleaned up.

Germany and France knew what the U.S. did to the Iraqi soldiers after the first Gulf War, now do you get it?

Those blacken, burnt corpses look like the ones of the kids in Lebanon from the other day. Shame on humanity.

Let's hope Rummy is under oath.. And I wish Fitz would be the person to crossexamine Rummy because I have a feeling that Fitz can easily slap an indictment or two on obstruction of justice and lying to the prosecutor! That's an easy bet. Let's hope that the Democrats put the squeeze on making sure Rummy is under oath!

Fitzgerald,

Good to see you on the blog, my friend!

"Barney is hiring Scooter's memory expert.." Hmmm.. If Walton turns down the smurf's request, Barney may be the smurf's last resort. Both have a lot in common. They are small and they have been thrown a bone lately!

Final Posting:

Tweety Matthews forgets who was president on 9/11

In a discussion with Mark Green, Democratic candidate for New York attorney general, and KT McFarland, a Republican running for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-NY) Senate seat, about President Bush’s efforts to protect New York City from terrorism on the July 31 edition of MSNBC’s Hardball, host Chris Matthews claimed that "[w]e know" President Bill Clinton "didn’t stop" the September 11, 2001, terror attacks on the World Trade Center.
Well, technically that’s true, Clinton "didn’t stop" 9/11. Then again, if my memory is right, Clinton had left office eight months before it happened.

Also, since Tweety is blaming Clinton, then why is the Gerbil taken the credit for the 90% job approvsl rating after the 9/11 attack?

Signing off for the evening! Biloxi out!

"Claude Allen, the former Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, is set to plead guilty, McClatchy reports. He'll admit to a single misdemeanor: for "fraudulently stealing items worth less than $500 from a Target store." He'll get no jail time - just $850 in restitution to Target Corp. and one month's probation. That's a pretty sweet deal considering police alleged that he stole over $5,000 from Target and Hecht stores. He faced up to 18 months in jail."

Lieberman rips W's war plan

Embattled Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman - facing a possible primary defeat Tuesday because of his strong backing for the Iraq war - yesterday launched a Hail Mary attack on the Bush administration's handling of the war.
"I supported our war in Iraq but I have always questioned the way it was being executed," Lieberman said.
"This administration took far too many shortcuts. We continue to suffer the consequences, as do the Iraqi people."

Too little too late. And the people in his state will not buy those beans!

Bush Stumps for Ohio Governor Candidate

Blackwell, the state's secretary of state, who has strong ties to Washington, is one of a handful of prominent black conservatives in the Republican Party, a group that the Bush administration has been courting.
Blackwell, however, is running 20 percentage points behind Democrat Ted Strickland, a congressman from Lisbon in eastern Ohio, according to a recent poll by The Columbus Dispatch. Strickland received 47 percent of support compared with Blackwell's 27 percent in the poll, which had a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points

Now here is a candidate trailing in the polls asking a President who has the worse poll numbers to campaign for him. Very stupid move...

A White House aide, who requested anonymity because his information was preliminary, said Wednesday that he knew of no top Bush administration official who had a relative who had served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yet:

In his scathing 2004 documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11,” Michael Moore said that only one of the 535 members of Congress had an enlisted son in Iraq. He was referring to Senator Tim Johnson, Democrat of South Dakota, whose son Brooks served with the Army in Bosnia, Kosovo, South Korea and Afghanistan as well as Iraq before coming home.

US supplying Israel with NSA signals intelligence

A report by columnist Sidney Blumenthal in Salon claims that Israel is receiving intelligence from the US's National Security Agency.
Blumenthal claims to be in touch with "a national security official with direct knowledge of the operation" to supply Israel with signals intelligence from American assets to help it monitor armament transfers from Syria and Iran to Hezbollah. He states that President Bush has approved the intelligence sharing.
Bush is being influenced by neoconservatives in his administration led by Vice President Dick Cheney's staff and Elliot Abrams, senior director for the Near East on the National Security Council. The group, according to Blumenthal, seeks to start a 'four front war' by giving Israel the pretext to strike Iran and Syria. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has been briefed, but is not a central actor in the plan.

Posted by Peter Lattman
In the February issue of Vanity Fair (the one with a bikini-clad Lindsay Lohan on the cover), David Margolick pens a paean to Illinois U.S. Attorney and special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, “Mr. Fitz Goes to Washington.” It’s a good read, but unfortunately isn’t online (if VF were a restaurant, there wouldn’t be a sign out front).

Here’s what you missed:

Margolick is oddly infatuated with Fitzgerald’s brain. Let us count the ways in which either Margolick or a source describes his cerebrum:

“his remarkable mind”

“his uncanny memory”

“his ‘scary-smart’ intelligence”

“his brain was a marvel of organization”

“his brain was like a computer”

“his mainframe-computer brain”

Halliburton Lobbyist Blames Wife for Green Party Donation

This morning I spoke with the Halliburton lobbyist who gave $1,000 to the Luzerne County (PA) Green Party.
"It was my wife" who made the contribution, Bill Wichterman told me. Wichterman, a well-connected GOP lobbyist, presumably backs Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), his onetime employer.
So, do the Wichtermans have a wacky Dharma-and-Greg thing going on? I asked Bill if his wife was a Green Party member.
"I'm not going to answer any questions about it," he replied.
Well, would your wife be willing to discuss the contribution?
"No, she wouldn't."

Roger, that was error on my part. It was supposed to be the Gerbil's brain not Fitz! And you are all people should have caught my comments about the booze when Fitz is NOT a boozer! I am quite surprised by you, my friend! Here is the correction:

Roger,

I don't think a memory expert can help the GOP crooks. They all have a case of pure denial especially for the crimes that they have committed. They don't need a memory expert just a prosecutor to indict and convict all of them. Then, all of a sudden, they will start to recall their graft. Yes, Global Warming is destroying this Earth!

The Gerbil's brain vs. Fitz brain? There is no comparison between those two. The Gerbil's brain had been so fried from the booze that I don't think there is any more cells left in that brain. The Gerbil brain has been fed jello pudding for the past 5 years! Surely, there is no comparison between an intelligent U.S. attorney and prosecutor who earned his job and title to a drunk, Richie Rich, lame duck, and moron President who stole his job and title in two terms!

A mystery over Ney’s legal bills

Embattled Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio) raised no money for his legal-defense fund in the second quarter, after having brought in $65,000 the previous quarter, according to recent public disclosures.
Ney created the fund in January to help foot legal bills stemming from his dealings with former Republican lobbyist and convicted felon Jack Abramoff.
The fund was expected to help pay Ney’s attorney, Mark Tuohey at Texas-based firm Vinson & Elkins, but thus far it has not made any disbursements, save for buying checks April 12.
In a telephone interview, Tuohey disputed assertions that Ney is not paying him.
“Don’t assume that because he hasn’t used any contributions [from the fund] he hasn’t paid his legal fees. I’m not doing it on a pro bono basis,” Tuohey said.
A spokeswoman for Ney, Katie Harbath, said that the fund is “still active” but that she could not answer further questions.

DeLay Loses Appeal To Get Off Ballot

A federal appeals court affirmed a lower court's ruling that the state GOP had no grounds to remove DeLay from the ballot.
Judge Sam Sparks ruled in July that, at the time DeLay was taken off the candidate slate, there was no firm evidence he had moved to Virginia and no conclusive evidence that he intended to live in VA on Election Day. Justice Edith Clement, a Bush SCOTUS finalist, voted today with two Democrat appointees to endorse Sparks's decision.

And DCCC spokesperson Bill Burton chimes in: "One way or another, Tom DeLay is going to be serving a two year term. But it's not going to be in Congress."

From Thinkprogress:

Rumsfeld Claims Insurgent Violence Increases ‘In the Spring, Summer and Fall Months’

Last month, Lt. Gen. David Richards, head of NATO’s Afghan security force, said the country was “close to anarchy.”
Asked about the situation today, Rumsfeld admitted there was a resurgence of the Taliban, admitted Taliban fighters were “occupying safe havens” in Pakistan and other places, and admitted that violence has increased recently. Then he blamed it all on the weather:

Does the violence tend to be up during the summer, in the spring, summer and fall months? Yes it does. And it tends to decline during the winter period. Does that represent failed policy? I don’t know. I would say not.

Atomic gau only scarcely avoided
Stockholm/Berlin - in Sweden after an incident from 26 July in the nuclear power station Forsmark-1 four of the ten atomic reactors were switched off. As was communicated on Thursday by the responsible authorities, the opportunity was to be used to examine the safety systems. Atomic critics see an almost disaster in the incident in the work north of Stockholm. Politicians and environmental's groups in Sweden demanded a comprehensive examination of safety precautions. "Still more error in the automatic control would have arisen, then the world would have experienced previous week possibly their second supergau" after Tschernobyl, said IPPNW atomic expert Henrik Paulitz.

Pleased to meet you... Hope you guess my name, oh yeah

Please allow me to introduce myself
Im a man of wealth and taste
Ive been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith
And I was round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a generals rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
Who killed the kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
Im a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But whats confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me lucifer
cause Im in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or Ill lay your soul to waste, um yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah!
Tell me baby, whats my name
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name
Tell me baby, whats my name
I tell you one time, youre to blame
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah
Whats me name
Tell me, baby, whats my name
Tell me, sweetie, whats my name

SPB I looked up the case Daubert vs Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals. I found the following interesting reading.
Petitioners Jason Daubert and Eric Schuller are minor children born with serious birth defects. They and their parents sued respondent in California state court, alleging that the birth defects had been caused by the mothers' ingestion of Bendectin, a prescription anti nausea drug marketed by respondent. Respondent removed the suits to federal court on diversity grounds

Now is Libby going to say his memory is off because of some drug he took. I'll be doing more checking on this as all the criminals in jail need to know their new defense on appeals.

RADIO

THE liberal Air America radio network is going to be harder to hear in New York.

Next month, it is switching stations - to a weaker AM station, WWRL (1600 AM).

Al Franken and his lefty colleagues are leaving WLIB (1190 AM) apparently because they couldn't come up with enough cash for the owners, former Manhattan Borough President Percy Sutton and his son, Pierre.

6:38 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Starting Sept. 1, Air America will be on WWRL, at the top of the dial where AM signals are weakest - especially at night, when greater FCC restrictions apply.

As The Post reported last March, the ratings-challenged liberal network failed to renew its two-year lease with the Suttons.

Relations between the Suttons and the network's execs were rocky from the start and only got worse after the network's shaky finances became known and a scandal broke out involving loans to Air America from a Bronx charity.

At the point of the world a Jewish Potentat would stand, in the name its "the coworkers of the divinity" whole mankind would control. Thus the free bricklaying developed, and so 1717 in London the Grossloge were created by England.

Jewish history during the Diaspora was marked by the appearance of a succession of pseudo messiahs - among them Sabbatai Zevi - who claimed that they would return the Jews to Zion. Equally unsuccessful was the scheme of the Italian Nasi family, which obtained a permit from the Turks to establish a Jewish community in Galilee in the late 16th century.

Good Evening bloggers,

I am visiting this blog. And very interesting different topics of conversation on this posting.. Let's see.. The topic is about the Barney tearing apart Elvis' teddy bear. I love Elvis! I've been to to one of his concerts many years ago. That is too bad that the teddy bear was ruined by the dog. I hope nothing happens to the dog since I am animal lover.

By the way, I love your shades, ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha...

Welcome abroad, Mrs X! We have another female blogger.

In the news:

From Americablog:

Rick Santorum signs statement defending transgender rights
by John in DC - 8/03/2006 07:59:00 PM

Oh, how the mighty fall. Now, it's great that Santorum signed the statement - desperate to be sure - but great. How Santorum's religious right buddies are going to react to the Senator reportedly meeting with a transgender activist last week and then signing a non-discrimination statement that includes gender identity along with sexual orientation, well, that's quite another matter.

Scrotum and Lickerman are both in the same boat. Trying to get votes! Desperate people do desperate things!

Since Jackie mention Hillary, The comment of the evening from Hillary. From Americablog:

Hillary smacked Rumsfeld at today's hearing

"The secretary has lost credibility with the Congress and with the people. It's time for him to step down and be replaced by someone who can develop an effective strategy and communicate it effectively to the American people and to the world."

It's about time sombody told Rummy to his face live on T.V. that he needs to retire!

I am not offending my those words.. Rick Santorum is a Scrotum in my book! I am sure others on the blog have far worse names for Santorum as well as President Bush. I can think of a name for Bush. But, it is quite a bit vulgar to post on this blog! I am happy that someone like Hillary Clinton told Rumsfield that he should retire. He is definitely hurting the American people by staying his position. The old fart should go!

From KOSBush Seeks Retroactive Immunity From US War Crimes Prosecution

That is why the Bush team memos issued before implementing their policies expressed concern of their own liability under the War Crimes Act. To change the substantive law after the actions were taken is tantamount to retroactive immunity. As one legal expert stated:

"They want retroactive immunity," said Mary Ellen O'Connell, a professor of international law at Notre Dame, who has been critical of the Bush administration's detention policies. "Have you known of any other time in our history when we have tried to immunize public officials against crimes after they have committed the crimes?"

Actually, yes. Bush is now also trying to obtain retroactive immunity for his legal liability in implementing his illegal NSA spying programs.

Polygamist gets 45 days for sex with teen bride

Investigator fears sentence sends wrong message

The sentence disappointed authorities in Kingman, Arizona, who had hoped a harsher punishment for defendant Kelly Fischer would discourage others in the church from taking teenage wives.
Fischer was the first of seven members of the Fundamentalist Latter-day Saints (FLDS) to be tried for plural marriages to minors.

Legalized rape=National Security...

ALL THAT’S GIVEN UP IN THE NAME OF SECURITY

By Sibel Edmonds and William Weaver

http://waynemadsenreport.com/

If these words from Edmonds and Weaver can not be understood from an intellectual standpoint, the words can be understood instinctively from the emotional content of rape.

Any invasion upon body and mind, without mutual consent, is rape.

If you rape me during my sleep, it is still rape. ("Covert" national security.)

"Unitary Executive" is nothing more than an abusive father.

In that light, Whistleblowers are protecting the child, (Nation).

Roger,

With the way the Bush Administration has manipulated the tax cuts for the past years, I am for the tax cuts for the wealthy as Senator Kerry said in his 2004 Presidential run. But, the President has aimed those tax cuts for the poor and middle class (which I am affected in that catagory) and pocketed money for himself and his certain officals in his White House staff members. I think that is wrong. But, I think the Bush has really changed the meaning of the wealthy in most American's eyes. There are many wealthy people that outraged of the treatment of their money by the Bush Administration and the unfair treatment to the poor and middle class. But, money that are supposed to be allocated to the poor and middle class are being diverted to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. And because the Administration decided to not allocate money to NY to prorect on another terrorist attack, it leaves the state very vulnerable. I just hope November is more promising. And because Bush has screwed the economy in the U.S., we are left with no choice but tax cuts.. But, it is unfair to tax more of middle class than the wealthy. Bush might have flunked in math on that!
