EDINBURG — A young girl featured in a controversial television ad during the 2000 presidential campaign testified this week that the man who developed the commercial molested her for years and forced her to watch pornography and use sex toys.

The girl, now 15, told jurors Carey Lee Cramer — a 44-year-old political consultant who gained national notoriety when he released an anti-Al Gore ad showing a young girl picking daisy petals and ending in a nuclear blast — began molesting her in the third grade, when she lived in Mercedes with him, his then-wife and her younger brother.

The ad in which she and another girl were featured was a remake of one Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson’s campaign used against Republican Barry Goldwater in 1964.

The girl took the stand Thursday in Cramer’s aggravated child sexual assault trial, which began June 7 in Hidalgo County before Visiting Judge Homer Salinas’ Auxiliary Court A. She continued testifying Friday.

Let the TRUTH come out.

Yes, justice is served! Can't wait to hear about Jerry Lewis' trial.

In other news:

1. From Thankprogress:

"A Pentagon document classifies homosexuality as a mental disorder, decades after mental health experts abandoned that position." The document was condemned "by medical professionals, members of Congress and other experts, including the American Psychiatric Association."

2. This is truly ashamed of the treatment of Dan Rather:

Dan Rather is leaving CBS

The Associated Press is reporting that CBS has reached a deal with anchor Dan Rather to leave the network after 44 years. CBS News launched a series of attacks on Rather in their story on his departure

3. The Gerbil is riding a dead horse to revive Dr. Quack!:

From Thinkprogress:

Bush Urges Supporters To Help Keep (Retiring) Frist as Majority Leader
Speaking to a crowd of political supporters last night, President Bush twice stressed the importance of keeping Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN) as Majority Leader after the November elections.

I don't have cable and you may have noticed that I've might comments lately about CBS news' reporting. Propaganda and fear mongering to scare old viewers and kids.

I started to notice when the grand jury (yes, that one) was probably making a decision and CBS runs a series on how many witnesses end up getting murdered...and how the law cannot get people to testify because they are threatened or killed. There are other examples, but you get the picture. CBS---faux news. (Never knew Bob S. was a friend of Poppy either, hmmm.)

Glad to see a new thread. Lots going on, on that last one. It is not easy to follow the thread of truth in all the insanity. Channeling? (added nothing meaningful to the discussion)
Does anyone here have any thoughts about how the Abramahoff mess, and the information he may be giving up now, may play into the SP's leak investigation. It's hard to imagine that there aren't some links.

Oh, and firedoglake has some good commentary about this conviction. I'll check in with this thread throughout the afternoon. I guess soon, I will need to choose an identity, I keep being drawn back here to read and to post. SPB, Jackie and others here, I appreciate reading your thoughts and responses to the various developments. Thank you.

Anon at 1:03 pm:

Hmmm.. I found Safavian's trial very similar to Libby's indictment:

Safavian: Was convicted on 2 counts of obstruction of justice and 3 counts of making false statements.

Libby: Charged with 1 count of obstruction of justice, 2 counts of making false statements and 2 counts of perjury.

Safavian: From FDL, "He resigned from his White House post last year as the federal government’s chief procurement officer."

Libby: Resigned and assistant to the VP and assistant to President in 2005.

Safavian: From FDL, "Word to the wise: first one to cut the deal gets the better one — the longer you wait, the less likely you are to get a deal. I’m just saying. The squeeze is on, and those who fess up early will only have to deal with short penitentiary time. The longer you wait, the longer you get…try keeping that in mind the next time you look at your family and friends."

Libby: Continue to use different tactics to prolong the trial: strategies such as graymail, nanny nanny boo boo defense, and Gilligan defense. He refuses to cooperate with Fitz and take a plea bargain.

Even though Safavian's fate was sealed, so will Libby.

As far as Abramoff, Abramoff's case does intertwine with the leak case. The connection of major players goes like this: Abramoff/DeLay/Norquist/Scalon/Cunningham/Hookergate/
Wilkes/Wade/Lewis and so on.
Of course, Norquist is connected with Rove who is connected to the CIA Leak case.

The Abramoff case all interwine with some any cases like the leak case because is all revolved around government contracts to buddies and fronting and lobbying bogus companies to panhandle the Indians for Indian gaming and funnel that money back and forth to the major players. This is sort of strategy that Enron players like Fastow, Skilling, and Lay did. Nothing but a scam to benefit certain top players... Best believe that the players all of the way up to the food chain benefited from the Abramoff and Enron scam. Abramoff will squeal more info about DeLay. And DeLay is the person who bring down to the President because DeLay was giving very special favors from him. This scaming all began when the Gerbil crawled into the WH from the get go!

Folks,

In more related news in Fitz's other case with Conrad Black. From WSJ:

Feds Continue to Squeeze Conrad Black
Posted by Peter Lattman

"Federal prosecutors want former newspaper tycoon Conrad Black, who was released on a $20 million bond last year, to provide additional security to remain free on bail until his criminal trial next year, reports the WSJ.
In documents filed in federal court in Chicago, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald says he wants more security because Black has failed to pay the mortgage on his Palm Beach oceanfront manse, which is part of his bail bond. The New York Post reports the home is said to be worth more than $35 million.
The government wants to force a sale of the Palm Beach home because he missed a payment on a $10 million note that is secured by a mortgage, according to the government’s filing. This bumped up the interest rate on the loan to 26% from 21%, and the government says it’s worried it won’t recover any equity in a sale. It also wants Black to sell his stake in a privately held publishing company, valued at $16 million.
The feds also accuse Black of lying about his financial assets. At the time of his bail hearing he said he had less than $300,000 in “liquid assets available to post as security.” But the government says he recently paid taxes of about $460,000 on the Palm Beach house and made a donation of $446,000 to the Canadian Opera Company.
Black has pleaded not guilty to fraud and racketeering charges related to Hollinger International, the publishing empire he once controlled that devolved, in the words of an internal investigation, into a “corporate kleptocracy.” Representing Black is Canadian lawyer Edward Greenspan and colorful Chicago defense lawyer Edward Genson, who said “there are numerous misstatements” and “numerous half-truths” in the court filings.
Black’s legal team has complained that the government has imposed undue financial hardship on their client, inhibiting Black’s ability to defend himself."

Please... Yet, Black was eating good before he got caught!

Thanks Roger for the link, and SPB for the information and perspective. And I am sure the corruption goes to the top, and I am sure that very powerful interests are providing backing and cover. I won't go any further with that line of thinking, but it would seem that any prosecutor trying to conduct an investigation that points in the direction of the highest levels of government is doing so at great risk and will have to proceed with extreme care. I wish there were more things ordinary citizens could do to demand accountability and support bringing all the dirty secrets and illegalities out into the open.

Anon,

You right that corruption starts all the way to the food chain. That is what makes this case so secretive yet complicated because of who is involved in the lease case from to the top of the food chain. There are lot of risks that the DOJ office is taken in this case. But, that is the law. And a law has been broken for sure. When you are dealing with high level in the goverment, you have to take precautions..Yes, I do wish more citzens would their officials and support exposing the dirty secrets of this leak case. There is three type of people: people that makes things happen, people who watch things happen, and the people want to know what happened. It is only those people who separate themselves from the masses that will step up to the plate and demand the officials accountable.

I'd like to testify to something I've lived through that will make you sick. I turned in a mafia family for ripping off taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. I've sat back and watched as they have diverted money into California's hands while it clearly states in the State/Federal Purchasing for the state's rules that these come locally. Yes, I'm a state and federal purchasing agent that was blackballed because I didn't know that the mafia, democrats and republicans were getting a cut out of. I watched as I tried to build my company that would put Mayor Daley politically un-empowered- they murdered my cousin and buried him where my building could have been!!!!!!!!!! I'm so angry that I don't CARE that they have sent Latin Kings to kill me- YES- THE MAFIA DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS!!!!
NOT ONLY TO ME, BUT IN 1994 CORYDON INDIANA AT HARRISON COUNTY HOSPITAL MY UNCLE WAS APPROACHED WITH A BRIBE AND HE TOLD THEM TO SHOVE IT- HE WOULDN'T RAISE THE PRICE OF HIS PRODUCTS AND PERPETUATE THE RAISING OF TAXES SO POLITICIANS COULD BY MORE COKE OFF THE MAFIA! STEVEN TAYLOR- THE ONE WHO IS IN CHARGE OF PURCHASING BRIBED HIM, AND THEN SET THE LOCAL FEDS AND COPS ON HIM- THE ONE'S THAT WORKED FOR THE PROMINENT MAFIA FAMILY IN THE MIDWEST. THEY ALMOST PUT MY UNCLE IN JAIL ON FALSE CHARGES, PUSHED HIM OUT OF HIS POSITION AT HARRISON COUNTY HOSPITAL. IN YEAR 2000 THEY MURDERED MY COUSIN!!!!!!!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND MY ANGER! AND I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO PUT IT- AND THERE'S MORE, IT'S LIKE SINCE I TOLD MAYOR DALEY TO GO FUCK HIMSELF WHEN HE SOLICITED ME ON THE STREET FOR A BLOWJOB- I "SHOVELED SHIT ON MY LIFE" HOW AM I GONNA LIVE ANY LONGER ANYWAY. SO I TESTIFY TO THIS TRUTH. THE ONLY PERSON THAT HELPED WAS WRITING TO MR. FITZGERALD AND SPEAKING UP. I KNOW I DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME, I WANT TO SAY THE TRUTH, ALL OF IT, EVEN THE SHAMEFUL SHIT I HAD TO DO CAUSE I WAS NEVER GIVEN A BREAK BY THE SBA! THE ASSOCIATIONS THAT WERE SUPPOSSED TO HELP ME HAVE ALL OF MAYOR DALEY'S BUDDIES RUNNING IT- AND THE BIGGEST JOKE- ME AND MY COMPANY WHERE PUT ON THE PATRIOT LIST AND "AWARDED" AN EMAIL FROM BUSH. FUCK THIS! START FIGHTING, FIGHT FOR ME! CAUSE I'M NOT GONNA BE ALIVE FOR TOO MUCH LONGER. FIGHT WITH FITZGERALD. THIS HAS BEEN INSANE, AND IT'S HOW AMERICA IS -EVERYWHERE. DON'T FOOL YOURSELF.

Folks,

I find something interesting. Hmmm. Remember the article that came out recently about a possibility that the smurf may be pardoned by the Gerbil? I found some interesting news. Joseph diGenova, a former prosecutor and an old Washington hand who shares that view in Newsday:
http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-uspard0618,0,467087.story?coll=ny-leadnationalnews-headlines

What is interesting is that LA Times dated April 9, 2006 DiGenova did the same piece about a possibility of the smurf being pardoned. Well, if you don't succeed, try again? Again, this is nothing but propaganda to sway the public opinion about the smurf and the case!

TPMmuckraker reported this in April:

http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/000325.php

And here is the LA Times article on April 9, 2006:

Seriously, are they really THAT stupid? If they had any hint of Fitz taking this further (and I am sure they talk to Gonzalez or had Fitz kept Gonzo out of the loop and how could he do that to his superior?) why would they run the risk of announcing Rove getting a pass and Luskin saying he got a direct communication from the SP? Why wouldn't they just keep saying no comment? Unless they know nothing is going to happen until after the elections which means everybody is going to have a long wait and the one thing that would guarantee to tip the elections in favor of the Democrats has been defanged for the time being.

It really sounds to me like nothing is going to happen until the Libby trial starts in January. This way the Bushies can concentrate on keeping both Houses in the Repub side so that even if Rove is indicted next year nothing will come of it for Bush and he will pardon everybody convicted.

Well, I can tell you that no only that they will be an embarrassment to the news station but they will be an embarassment globally especially to BBC News. The integrity of journalism will be questioned in this country and I think jobs will be lost or demoted. People on this blog keep talking about the corruption in the WH. What Armstrong Williams, a public syndicated journalist did in promoting the GOP agenda is nothing to compare to hiw many journalists and media were paid by the Gerbil. There are a lot more Armstrong Williams replicas out there.

The media and journalists will have egges on their faces when the smurf is convicted and Rove is indicted. Yes, you are right. The evildoers are setting themselves for a fall and the media are getting sucked into the propaganda by the Gerbil. But, certainly need to clean house in the media when the corrupted WH is exposed!

Finally, the media are going to look like complete asses in from of the DOJ office because they bad mouthed this case and Fitz. You don't judge a book by its cover. You read the whole book first. And that is what the media did. They judge the case first and not heed to Fitz's statement on October 28, 2005 when he said: "Let the process work." And I were Fitz, I keep a close eye on those journalists and media that either distorted the information or jumped to the wrong conclusions in this case. When this case is over, don't give ANY interviews to the nimrods who bashed Fitz! Here are some of Biloxi's list of media or journalists to put the phone off the hook on:

Fox News
CBS News with Katie Curic
The Today's Show
The View
WSJ
MSNBC
Good Morning America
Hardball with Tweety Matthews
ABC News
Tucker Carlson
David Brooks (definitely not that turd)
Ann Coulter (definitely not the meds woman)

Anon,

You have to understand that there are things going on behind the scenes...

Their MO(Modus Operandi) is the same as it was after 911 and what was going on behind the scenes then to silence the questions that still persist to this day(5 years later) is now going on with Valerie plame...

The MO is the same in Votegate as it is in Abramoff AIPAC as it is in Enron/Bush and is as well in the Cheney Halliburton sweet contract deals..

All made secret with the gift of National Security or Executive Privaledge invocation..

Like I said before...

A full balloon with many holes, ready to pop and nobody knows when...

Roger, I just wanted to thank you for the positive comments. Also my Uncle just informed me a Mason freind of his is handing in his resignation because of the "dirty deals" going on. More information is coming out soon. Still, we are all afraid to speak, my Uncle, his freinds that are ex-Masons, me running from politicians using gang members because I opened my mouth. The chiding is rather unnecessary by others on this board- I'm doing nothing other than trying to bring America back and I believe Fitzgerald is our answer. There is a price to pay for standing up and speaking out. I'm paying it. I'm not trying to be the next first lady like some others are. so boo-ya as I start on another UN PAID campaign, this time for my hometown. Sarah

Hi guys today wasn't a good day. I just couldn't stop thinking about the two GI's and how Bush changed the policy to make torture of prisoners legal. Bush/Cheney/Rummy set a new policy to torture, jail for life with no charges and kill woman and children. Now our kids are paying the price. I wonder how all those elected officials feel about their vote as these two babies died, all the other countries are pulling out of Iraq while Bush is sending more kids to die. My heart hurts for those two babies I just keep seeing their faces. I hope tomorrow will be better.

LMAO! That was so funny with Laura and the Joker. I guess always leave with a smile as the joker says! She looks like the Joker character. I give the comedy award of the day to you for the pictures of Shug and the Gerbil. And the Gerbil looks so happy with his boo, Shug! He never looked like that with Laura. Laura and the Gerbil look like two porcelain dolls! I bet that he has stride in his walk from getting his groove on with Shug.. Shug and Mister. What a couple. They beat Pitt and Jolie!

Folks,

Here is the amount of money that the smurf raised in money for the past year:

More than $2M raised for Libby's defense
June 20, 2006

"WASHINGTON --Supporters of Vice President Dick Cheney's indicted former chief of staff have raised more than $2 million since late last year for his legal defense in the CIA leak case.'

"The $2 million figure came from Barbara Comstock, a member of Libby's legal team. Among the co-hosts for the event at Matalin's home were former Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham, former Rep. Bob Livingston and oil industry executive and former Commerce Secretary Don Evans.
Former Republican Sen. Fred Thompson hosted a fundraiser at his northern Virginia home last month to raise money for Libby's defense."

In reality, this is not good for attorney fees. that 2 million dollars will go fast! Maybe he should write another money. The book should be titled: I Need The Benjamins."

it is a very sad day for all of us hearing about the two soldiers killed mercilessly...

I am so tired of this unjust war...and I support our troops...

I am outraged by the "cut and run" spin of these political @sses! I hope this spin blows up in their faces...none of them have been to war themselves...it is shameless!!!

I pray for the soldiers...

Final posting, folks!:

Karl’s kid
By Ken Herman | Tuesday, June 20, 2006, 11:31 AM
Thanks to a morning speech to the National Federation of Independent Business, we now know what Karl Rove does not want his soon to do for a living.
“Now frankly,” Rove said during a riff on the temporary worker part of President Bush’s immigration reform plan, “I don’t want my kid digging ditches. I don’t want my kid slinging tar. But I know somebody’s got to do it. And we ought to have a system that allows people who want to come here to work to do jobs for which Americans are not lining up.”
What are those tasks that foreigners are more willing to do than Americans are (other than watching soccer)?
“I don’t know where you’re from,” said Rove, “but in Austin, Texas in August if you see some guy on top of a roof slinging tar odds are he is not a U.S. citizen.”

2. More from Gerbilgate:

“All right. You’ve covered your ass, now.” Bush’s response on August 6, 2001 to the CIA briefer who informed him, “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.”

Looking forward to hear more scoop from global evildoer fighter
of the Shug/Gerbil/Laura saga on the next episode of: FORNIGATE!

Superman Biloxi is hanging his tights up for the evening! Signing off!

And Chimpcoulter!

The soldiers are in a better place. My heart goes out to their families. But, I believe what the bible says: you reap what you sow! The powers above will take care of that! I just wouldn't be next to the bastards in the higher government when the lightening bolt hits!

Have a good evening!

Wow you guys covered alot of ground.

I can tell you from meeting Greg Palast tonight and talking to some others what Rodger says about whistleblowers is true. That is sooo wrong. More protections are needed.

Anyway-it seems there are people coming out of the woodwork here in OH about the vote fraud stuff. I know people working on it and they tell me the dems originally said "There was no significant vote fraud because that would have required many many people to be in on such a conspiracy" well, guys, guess what-turns out there were many many people involved-now scared and feeling guilty-some thought they did it in God's name.
Can you believe this? Palast said they can do it again in 06 and 08 and explained how to prevent it. I recommend his book "Armed Madhouse" It has a lot of info in it-documents relating to pre-war planning, ect. He works for the BBC. Lot of people showed up for the book signing. At the reception later of course I had to ask him what he thought of SP Fitzgerald's investigation!

OK, on the Bush/Rice picture with what appears to be him trying to look sexy--BLAHHHHHH!!! I'm going to have nightmares from that. I think I will need to host a dinner party to create a Night Owl's Psychiatric Care Fund after seeing that. >;-)

On the "Chicago Tribune"--in today's paper, those folks spent only a few columns on the Sorich corruption trial but almost a page and a half on the lawsuit of a dancer who claims she was fired because her breasts were too big. That second article went on and on, and of course included a picture of her. Dear Chicago Tribune, describing a dancer over and over as "stacked" is just not good investigative journalism.

On North Korea, geez, Rice is *not* going to get that right. Kim Jong-Il is one of the world's biggest partiers. Invite the guy over to Las Vegas for weapons talks. After he blows all the money he brought with him, then get down to business and work out an agreement. It might take him a really long time to spend his walk-around money; that should be a long enough distraction to get tensions settled down. Then, he and Bush can share the bottle after the agreement is signed. I am actually serious in part of that--the only way to deal with the leader of a country who is crazy is to think outside the normal boundaries of diplomacy. 'Crazy' is overused, but Kim qualifies as well as Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus. Imagine trying to get Idi Amin not to do something . . . that is how one should approach trying to deal with Kim.
