Deal-No Deal..?

I love that show! ;)

So I rolled Karl...It is a very good thing.

"The language used by Luskin strongly suggests that Rove got immunity in exchange for his cooperation (it is probably the same deal I have been suggesting was offered to Novak way back when. . . )Otherwise he never would have testified in the Grand Jury to begin with.

“Does not anticipate seeking charges” means that if Rove testifies at Libby’s trial as expected, and as his agreement no doubt provides for him to testify, (lawyers call it providing “ongoing cooperation”), then all will be well for him. But if he “goes sideways” on Fitz and testifies differently from what is now expected, he could be charged–w/perjury certainly, and his deal to avoid criminal liability in the larger conspiracy could be “off” as he could face charges in that as well.

All told, a very standard deal and not unexpected. The more interesting issue and the reason for optimism now is that he couldn’t have gotten such a deal without having something important to offer Fitz. The “no prosecution” letter pretty much guarantees that he that he made a good deal. Either he offered up Cheney himself, or he offered up Libby to guarantee a conviction so Fitz can roll up Libby to Cheney. Either way, for me, I see Cheney going down and that’s something I can live with!" [

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JOE REPUBLICAN

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to
prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good
because environmentalist whacko tree-hugging liberals fought for minimum water-quality standards.
With his first swallow of coffee, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some
stupid commie liberals fought to insure their safety and
that they work as advertised. All but $10 of his medications
are paid for by his employer's medical plan because
some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too.
He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's
bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberals fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His
bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its right amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberals fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air
he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko
liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting
our air. He walks to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberals fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the pportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his workday. He has a good job with excellent
pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and
vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards (which also include his 40-hour work week and two-day weekend). Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.
If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberals didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.
It's noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he
can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FDIC because Liberal Democrat President Franklin D.
Roosevelt wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system prior to the Great Depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because elitist liberals decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. (If Joe had gone into the service, he'd have the GI Bill to help him through college.......another goofy liberal idea).
Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this
evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car
for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world
because some anti-corporation liberals fought for car safety standards.
He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans.
The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberals stuck their noses where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification. He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because union loving Democrat liberals created Social Security and Pension insurance laws to protect Senior Citizens.
Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a
conservative radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying
that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against almost every government sponsored protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day.
Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals
ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who
believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I do."

I think you are mistaken PJF for Noel Hillman. Hillman was the former prosecutor on the Abramoff case that accepted the judgeship by the President. Fitz is with this case to the very end. And Fitz certainly cannot be brought.. That certainly would make the Gerbil happy if Fitz was brought so that this case can be botched.

"Josh Marshall gives his take on Rove being cleared: “[N]ot only am I happy to take Fitzgerald’s word for it, if this is in fact the case, good for Fitzgerald. A prosecutor’s role is not to punish people for malicious acts. It is to ascertain whether they’ve committed specific criminal acts and determine whether there is sufficient evidence to sustain a charge.”

Roger, I may be sorta slow to figuring out this stuff w/o help but human nature, that is a different story. Luskin is scum along with his client.

As for Al, I googled his arse a long time ago and figured out he was playing both sides of the fence with his "Clinton made my life a living hell" and then posting on Kos.

Personally, I think every dirty little 'not so secret' crimes ought to brought out in the open and the responsible people held accountable--no matter who was President or what office they may have held and when. This country cannot take much more self-serving politicians selling out their country for oil, weapons, drugs profits, power trips or whatever the hell they might be doing to our children and their future.

As for Mr. Fitzgerald, I already posted the bad thing I seen about him, I don't believe it but if it is true...he has to live with that the rest of his life and beyond. I'm gonna keep praying for him and his staff for their courage, wisdom, and honor. rant over.

Here is another perspective from Firedoglake:

Hey Bob, Where’s Your Letter?
By Jane Hamsher

"While there are certain to be those who are more focused on their next cruller than the facts and accuse Fitzgerald of wasting public time and money, several things need to be made clear:
1.We have no idea what Fitzgerald has, and anyone who pretends to know anything conclusive one way or the other about what he got from Rove and where he’s going with this is talking out their ass
2.Whatever it is he wanted from Rove, he obviously got it without going through a long expensive trial and putting the country through a media circus. That’s called being responsible, not a Ken Starr showboat.
3.David Johnston’s paragraph this morning in the New York Times that seemed to indicate the investigation was at an end is at best poorly written. Rove will most certainly not be off the hook completely until Libby has had his day in court. If Libby makes a deal with Fitzgerald and implicates Rove, all bets are off. Fitzgerald acknowledges that because justice was obstructed, he could not know exactly what happened. The investigation will remain open at least until the Libby matter is closed. That’s just how it works.
4.Rove is not in the clear, not by a long shot. The Wilsons have backed off on their civil suit in order to give Fitzgerald the room he needs to maneuver, but that will not last forever. Do you think Joe Wilson is interested in letting bygones be bygones with regard to Karl Rove? Send me your email, I just received a large inheritance in Nigeria and I need your help.

And I certainly want to see the letter, Bobby. Could you please fax it to me?

7:48 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think that the public would love to see that letter. And Luskin, so confident that he thought he got his client off the hook should provide this information.
If the letter is authentic, then Luskin should share it with the public.

Debris is falling down on JQP and everyone is trying to figure how to save their own asses from becoming collateral damage while giving a rat's ass over which goofy monster wins. They just wish it was over already.

By the time Fitz ever gets around to putting any evil doers in jail (if ever) the reaction from JQP by then will be, "yeah, whatever."

8:03 PM

"If the letter is authentic, then Luskin should share it with the public.
I know I would love to see the letter." And if Luskin is reading this blog, hey, Bobby, help out brother Biloxi and freesbie the letter to me, will you? Muchas Gracias!

And folks, please get the barf bag on the Gerbil's speech. Still riding that dead horse of a "September 11th" auto suggestion speech:

From Americablog:

On cue, President 29%-Approval-Rating devoted a whole paragraph in Baghdad today to "September the 11th" -- still linking Iraq to the terror attacks... You know, right after September the 11th I knew that some would forget the dangers we face. Some would hope that the world would be what it's not -- a peaceful place in which people wouldn't want to do harm to those of us who love freedom. I vowed that day, after September the 11th, to do everything I could to protect the American people. And I was able to make that claim because I knew there were people such as yourself who were willing to be on the front line in the war on terror.

Here we go again! Deja Vu!

Cheney is getting out chessed...

See, things like this are baiting without proof. There is so much of this surrounding this story that it is straining the public's ability to follow any of it. Apathy will quickly set in. At least with the Watergate story there was Deep Throat and the journalists Woodward and Bernstein to keep the home fires burning. In this situation the net is playing a role and it is not doing a very credible job for whatever reason. As a matter of fact the signal to noise ratio is making it such that folk's will start tuning it out because every new utterance, speculation and conjecture is so anticlimatic and unverifiable. No one has any credibility at this point and both sides are coming across as ranting lunatics.

I have been to many liberal/progressive blogs in the last few months and just as a rational person I have asked questions to try and figure this puzzle out and quickly found out that I was a troll. I had no idea that asking questions was trollish. That makes journalists all trolls I guess.

The rancor of both sides is such that the ad hominems are crowding out the message if there is one. It seems there is more talk than action and all of the talk is suspect. Accusations abound and yet no one is going to jail, being indicted, or in any way shape or form shedding light on what is really going on. There is not one single source of information that can be relied on for the truth whatever that might be at this point.

It is the worst situation I have ever seen in the US except possibly the McCarthy era which was before my time. And even at that, where are the Edward R. Murrows to give the public information they can trust?

I am telling you that unless some real, honest to goodness facts come out about this soon the abiity for anyone to feel good about MSM or the blogging community is going straight in the toilet.

My attitude about this country that I have lived in for almost sixty years is getting flushed as well. The world opinion of this country is drifting towards bottom and I fear we may be facing this New World Order speaking Spanish or Chinese with nano-implants in our brains being fed a constant diet of sex, violence and lies. I think the way the US is heading would make Orwell freak out.

Sometimes is law you have to take a road less visible to the public but don't worry the little angel will meet us at the end. Jackie, that is no trivial matter even for lawyers. That is why we have Supreme Courts and Appellate courts because in the law nothing is as it seems until someone makes a judgement. So if you are a non legal person this is so much smoke and mirrors.

Well as I said earlier Fitz is a brilliant attorney and get's the big fish by entapping the small fish.

If you say so. But right now it is coming across as a tip on a horse running at Belmont.

All of us are angry because the hold group of this Administration is corrupt but the legal system works on facts and proof. It's called beyond a reasonible dought.

I first read dought(sic) as drought and thought that this really is a dry spell for truthful information.

Now if you followed the clues you would know that Rove is no friend of Cheney. Libby is a follower not a leader. So get the weakling Libby and have Rove sing his guts out about Cheney while making sure Rove does what he is suppose to do then hang Cheney from his gun.

That makes a nice story but following the clues does not yield that assessment I am afraid.

Sometimes is law you have to take a road less visible to the public but don't worry the little angel will meet us at the end. Is there really a war going on now at the DOJ between all of you guys and the neocons?

It sure seems like about the time that fur flies...especially in high profile cases like this.

Any hint at all you can give us is, always so appreciated.

I think if there was not a war going on, Rove wouldn't be sitting so smug and spouting off his nonsense.

Do I gotta go ask Tom Heneghan or someone maybe?

No matter what, I suggest keeping it low key this blog included...Never publish anymore about Rove's moves or your moves towards him..

I think it has tipped of the Rove team to try all sorts of things...I would say you're best off to let him hang himself.

And make certain Rove presents all the testimony needed.....because you will sink the big fish the quickest..

That would be blind faith as I have no way of making an assessment one way or the other except based on his actions which are slow in coming. Bush asked the country to trust him too and look where it got us. Maybe I am not so keen on faith based justice. Maybe, I and others would like to see some tangible progress so we can enjoy the wisdom you seem to enjoy. Maybe I and others would like to see this criminal regime put out of business real soon before they start a nuclear war with Iran, steal any more money from the taxpayers or institute any more draconian freedom limiting measures. Maybe I and others would like to know that there is at least one entity in this country that can make a difference.

Safavian Update: Juror Corruption at Corruption Trial
By Paul Kiel - June 13, 2006, 3:54 PM

From the AP:
Prosecutors argued that a female juror should be dismissed because she disregarded the judge's instructions on several occasions and told other jurors Tuesday she had discussed the costs of a golf trip to Scotland with her father. Safavian's expenses for the August 2002 trip arranged by Abramoff have been an issue in trial testimony.
The defense opposed replacing the juror with an alternate and said U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman should just give jurors a stiff warning to stop all outside discussions.
U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman, who questioned the juror, decided he wanted to study similar cases before ruling on the government's dismissal motion. He said he would rule Tuesday morning, and asked the jury to return then.

elees, i want to add something to your statement "my consolation is..that hate lives inside them and not me." My response may read like some bizarre psychobabble, but it's something I've really been thinking about. What if that ugliness, that hatefulness is part of our collective "shadow" as members of the human race. What if our current administration in dc represents the manifestation of all that we don't acknowledge as part of the survival-based core from which we have emerged. Maybe one way to put a stop to this madness is to become completely aware of and accepting of all that we are, even those elements we don't want to claim. The more conscious we are the less we likely we are to be controlled by twisted, fear and control-based motivations, and we are more likely to make choices based on respect and regard for self and others. Karl Jung wrote about this in his later years, in a little book entitled "The Undiscovered Self" written about 1957. There is a another person, Paul Levy, who has written a recently published book "The Madness of George Bush" that is also based on the idea of unconscious motivations taking over. If this is of any interest to you, you might google his website, "Awaken in the Dream" Just some thoughts.

I don't want to get my hopes high anymore. Seems to me that this administration is always making threats. I don't know if they threaten Fitz. I hope they didn't. For now I'm just not going to believe anything. I just want to wait and see what happens.

George Bush speaks....anyone who cannot see through this man's bullsh!t and evil really needs to take a good long look at the facts and themselves...values, morals, honor.

You already know the answer.

elees said, "the Universe does not
forget... man's inhumanity to man"

So true!

These crooks cannot hide in the shadows forever...this card game is not over...for those of you without faith in PJF and his team, you are mistaken and clouded by the shadows...

The faithful to Justice will not be swayed by any spin or intimidation...we are in it for the long haul...we cannot live within our souls without a good fight to bring these crooks and inhumane, selfish creatures to Justice...we live in the Light, not the shadows...

Go Team Fitzie...we believe in you and love the work you do for the people!

Good Morning Justice Bloggers

Who really owns (or at least controls) the oil fields in Iraq? Was there some funny business by BushCo. and one of their friendly groups?

What an idea! Control the world oil market...and how much you pay at the pump. I bet Bush really hates Chavez. And no wonder he wants Iran so much...how's that pipeline coming in Afghanistan and how is that "crop" doing? Conflict of interest and greed. Meanwhile, the blood flows.

the important thing to note is that he has bought himself enough time to focus on the midtern elections.

that is the most inportant issue this administration will face until they leave office. if they lose the house this administration will be held accountable. that must not happen at all costs. its do or die so expect their full arsonal.

To Ann C., Rove, Cheney, every single Bush, and evildoers high and low:

karma works.

I knew it...The only way Fitz was gonna let Rove "get-off" is Rove is going to give up Dick "The Most Evilest One" Cheney! Brilliant! Fitz is working these guys like a Champion Chess player! Brilliant! Get Rove to turn on Cheney and Libby to turn on Cheney and then get Rove on the Martha Stewart Law! BRILLIANT!

I know I voiced a little doubt yesterday but the "Spin Machine" is strong and sometimes I get caught up in it like the rest of us! However, I went around and did some research into Luskin and it's the same crap Rove tried before when he was announcing that he was going to be indicted..Trying to SPIN The MSM!

I still got faith in ya Fitz! GET EM!

And watch the Rove/Cheney/Libby drama unfold on the new SPB cable network channel where the evil doers spin the wheel on their next strategy and duke it out with one another called: Wheel of Defense. Coming to a cable near you...

I too have faith that the prosecution in the fullness of it is still being played and unfinished business being discharged and most carefully. I subscribe to the 'rollover' theory and getting to the top and the most high.
