Personally, I think this was not just a "leak" but a conspiracy and like the Wilson's Attorney said, "it does not end the matter."

I wondered why RawStory kept posting new pictures of Rove every hour; ack! RawStory, btw...seemed to have changed its style of reporting about 2 months ago, IMO.

Similar to the Conrad Black court case, pending criminal charges against Rove have been sealed for now.
Former Fed will understand any of this since he's a former official.
Of course, this means that we have almost assuredly secured his testimony against Cheney.

Let's go the topic of the discussion: ROVE
1. Rove was never charged by Fitzgerald with leaking the CIA covert's identity.
2. Rove is certainly not off the hook of criminal charges that WILL arise very soon
Fitz will get Rove on obstruction of justice and perjury for sure... Folks, I know that the beginning for Fitzgerald's case was mainly about finding out who leaked Ms. Plame Wilson's identity. But, we will never know WHO exactly leaked Valerie's name from the get go because there were multiple players involved in leaking Ms. Wilson's name. But, through Fitzgerald's investiagation, he undercovered a WH conspiracy. As Jason Leopold has written last year, the Fitz created a timeline of the events that involved certain major key players involved in discredit Mr. Wilson. By discrediting Wilson, it would have foiled the WH's plans to invade Iraq. Get the picture.. That is why Libby was never charged with leaking the CIA covert identity. He was charged with lying to the investigators and making false statements. We don't know WHAT exactly Rove told the GJ and Fitz on his many testimonies. And we know that there were inconsistent.
Now, I'll just cut to the chase. Where does this case go since Rove is not charged? As the article from Wayne Madsen report that S-Q and another bloggers passed along, this case is a lot bigger than you think. It is a WH conspiracy. I read that article this morning about the link with ousting Plame/Abramoff. As WMR points out:
"In any case, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is now dealing with a much larger case with the same limited budget and relatively small staff of prosecutors and FBI agents."
And as Jason Leopold's article points out:
"The fact that the indictment has been under seal for more than a month also suggests that it involves a high-profile investigation, he said."
"Additionally, it's entirely plausible for a federal prosecutor to obtain permission from a federal magistrate or a judge, have an indictment unsealed for the limited purpose of having parts of it read to a defendant and his or her attorneys in an attempt to have the defendant cooperate with an investigation to avoid facing further charges, legal experts said."
This is a very high profile case folks. And expect alot of negativity and distortion about this case in the press. Expect more trolls on this blog to tell you "I told you, so!" But that is what Fitz and the DOJ office have to endure. That is called criticism. So, without a doubt in my mind, I always been 150% behind him. I tell him often that you will know who your friends are when this case is over.. The WH may think that they have won the battle with Fitz. But, Fitz will win the war. And those in media who are naysayers to Fitz's case will have egg in their faces when he brings down the entire administration. Amd I personally would give any if those naysayers a single and exclusive interview after this case is over. Let them read or listen to interview like everyone else. So, have faith in Fitz, folks. This will be rollercoaster and bumpy ride.

There is alot of pressure on Fitz and the DOJ office on this case.. Major players would want to botch this case because there was always a hidden agenda withe the Gerbil and company. Joe Wilson, John Doe (ex-CIA agent who knew that there were not WMD and who sued Porter Goss and the CIA for ruining his career), and others were targets by the WH.
I think Fitz's strategy is to let Rove's knucklehead attorney, Luskin, know that his client was not being charged with leaking the covert's identity. Both Rove and Luskin ran with that like a person who gotten a lollipop! And the media just made it headline news.. But, Rove doesn't get it. He is not off the hook on criminal charges and the WH conspiracy. Roger, just expect the media will have eggs in thier face when this case is over...

Leopold is not being mislead from his sources. There were some of the same source who informed him that Libby was being indicted by Fitz. These were the same sources who told him about Richard Armitage cooperating with Fitz since the beginning of the case. Leopold reported that in March. And around 3 months later, the NY news reports about Armitage. NY New was 3 months late because Jason knew about Armitage.. Let's not forget Jason's article in May that Rove was indicted.. But, people tend to forget that Jason's article says that Rove was charged with obstruction of justice and not leaking the covert's name.. You got read between lines from the media. That is why I just don't listen to media on T.V a lot. Some of the media are there to push the Gerbil's hidden agenda..

saddened by this morning's headline, but not totally surprised...there is a shit-load of corruption going on here in our great nation...we have an AG that makes up the laws as he goes... an AG and some federal judges that are in Bush & Cheney's pockets...and an adminsitration that thwarts justice at every turn...a president that has circumvented 750 laws in the last 5 years...and these crooks play for keeps
and then we have PJF & his talented team...they are smart and they will not give away their hand before its time...they know what they are up against...there is more to all of this than meets the eye...I have felt this very strongly from around the time everyone was speculating on an impending indictment (Leopold, Schuster, other pundits, etc)...but I felt that things would not play out as most bloggers wanted initially (myself included)...however, I do believe this is not over yet...
a few things keep playing over in my mind...
First, a Hardball show when Rove indictment seemed imminent (about a week after Leopold's article and many were denying it) -- in this show Matthews asked a Newsweek reporter when the indictment was coming in a laughing tone...this reporter's face went white as a ghost and looked like "a deer in the headlights"-- he quickly said I don't know. Then uncharacteristically, Matthews quickly changed the subject like he knew he was touching fire...(I just got the eariest feeling that there are a lot of media and other people in the Beltway receiving enormous pressure to not go against this WH)
Second, I think there is more to Sealed vs. Sealed...but it may be awhile before we get the chance to know...
Third, PJF may be going after someone higher, or it's possible that another prosecutor has something on Cheney or the Gerbil and PJF knows it...
I still feel that another shoe is going to drop here this summer...PJF would not have taken so much time to make up his mind on Rove if he didn't have some interesting cards in his hand...
And when PJF plays his cards, I will drive to DC and personally place the Viagra pen in the courtroom for my Fitzie and his brave team...
To me Rove and Libby are small potatoes...I would rather see Lady Justice grab Dumbya and VP Elmer Fudd by their impotent...well you get the picture

Interesting that you mentioned John Doe, SPB. I noticed while the Exhibits A, B, and C posted here recently contained copies of Libby's testimony regarding the leak, they were given in reference to the "John Doe" case, not the Leak Case. I did not know what to make of it.

But how do I know Kerry won? The whole BBC team did an incredible investigation, and we found 3.6 million votes cast but not counted. It was called "spoilage" - and that’s everything from hanging chads to paper ballots that have extra marks, and are junked and thrown away – you name it.
But it’s not just anyone’s ballot that doesn’t count. Whose votes are they? We did a precinct-by-precinct analysis of whose votes were thrown away. If you are in a black majority precinct, the chance that your vote will be thrown in the electoral dumpster is 900% higher than if you’re in a white precinct. If you are Hispanic - 500% higher than if you’re in a white precinct. This also includes something called "rejected provisional ballots," a whole new gimmick. A million people were shunted to back-of-the-bus ballots called provisional ballots. And over half a million of those were never counted – never counted. And who made the decision not to count them? The Secretaries of State, like the Secretary of State of Ohio, who is also the head of the Bush reelection campaign.

I'm ready to put this to bed. Karl Rove walked. He's one of the rare subjects of an investigation who was able to talk his way out of an Indictment.
And yes, I think Jason needs to out his sources. If there was and will be no Indictment of Rove, his sources lied. If any are lawyers at Patton Boggs, I hope they lose their jobs and their law licenses.
As for Joseph Wilson's lawyer's statement, it appears to me his lawyer is threatening a civil suit.
Will there be more indictments? I'm not ready to speculate right now.

Dear Lovers of Liberty,
I am currently in Munich, Germany and receiving treatment at a cutting- edge cancer clinic.
This is my third battle with bladder cancer but the prognosis here is very good. In the United States I was told that I had very little chance, in fact, that I was a hopeless case and had no chance to survive. I am fortunate to be in a position to seek care outside of the U. S where I am receiving the latest in high tech cancer treatment and quality patient care. Do not be worried.
I am very confident of survival and that in this, my third battle with bladder cancer, I will finally kill it. The doctors here say that not only will I survive but leave here healthier than I have been in years.
I think the discrepancy in treatment between U.S and German health-care providers is directly related to the interference in Americans' health care system by the FDA. Which we all know ties into the theme of AMERICA: FREEDOM TO FASCISM.
I want to thank everybody for your ongoing support of this film. Based on the amount of emails, Internet activity and donations that we have received, I can tell that there are a lot of motivated Americans out there!
From the website alone, we've had over 500,000 downloads of the trailer and over 11,000 links to our website. We've screened the film in select U.S cities with sold out crowds and standing ovations. Just recently at Cannes, we had a standing-room-only crowd and another ovation for the film from the international audience of buyers and media.
And now the word is spreading to millions of more people worldwide via the Internet and there is interest from film festivals all over the world including Lebanon, Spain, Italy and Greece.
Positive reviews about the film are starting to come in (see below) and we also have multiple screens booked in five major cities for our July 28th release, which I' ll tell you more about next week.
To me this means that a lot of people are clamoring for a systematic change and the end of the New World Order and our film, AMERICA: FREEDOM TO FASCISM is primed to be the summer's wake up call.
But I am here receiving treatment for the next month, which makes fund raising and promoting the movie a bit difficult, so I need your help.
We need to raise at least $500,000 in donations to help with the release of the film. I'm asking for everybody to donate $100. If that is done, then we will have more than enough money to release this film on a nationwide basis.
If after making a donation - which is clearly the most important and necessary thing you can do now - you also wish to provide additional help, this is what we would need:

Very interesting posts here. In all of my years hanging around a courtroom, I have rarely seen a letter from a prosecutor or Special Agent telling someone that there are no plans to charge them criminally when they have been a subject or target of an investigation (whether grand jury or administrative investigation), even though a decision has been made to not pursue criminal charges. Normally, the target/subject does not get anything in writing, and the investigation just goes away or focuses elsewhere. This letter that Luskin speaks of-- I would like to see it. Until we see the text of the letter, I think it best to refrain from commenting on what the letter means for Rove.
I have no doubt that we are seeing only part of the picture as of today and that, when the full picture is revealed, it will be something quite different from what we see today.
Interesting to see the Right trashing Fitz. Seems to me they had kinder words for Ken Starr. Somebody could have some real fun comparing quotes by the Right on Starr with their quotes on Fitz.
I've been wondering lately whether the limited number of DOJ attorneys available to Fitz is something that Fitz is happy with (perhaps because fewer attorneys makes it easier to manage a very high profile case, perhaps for other reasons) or whether it is an indirect effort by the Politicos inside and outside of DOJ to place practical limits on what Fitz can do. Comments anyone?

Answer: I don't think that he should come forward to make a statement. As Fitzgerald has said that this is an ongoing investigation. By releasing a statement to the press, he would give Rove and Luskin more ammunition to try to do more damage control of Fitzgerald's image as an U.S. Attorney and a Special Prosecutor in the media. Like Randall said, no comment.

Certainly if Luskin did not receive a letter or a call and is making a big lie I can't imagine the SP would let something like that stay out in public. He could just say that he has had no contact with Luskin or Rove to kill the big lie. Don de Drain: I think the answer is B (placing practical limits on Fitz). Fitz has always praised the Eckenrode, other attorneys involved in the case, the agents, and U.S. Attorney office in Chicago for working on the leak case despite many of them are working on other tasks and duties. With the less than 10 people working on this case and less amount of money spent on this case in the last 3 years (apprx. 700,000), the DOJ office should be applauded with a skeleton crew and a tight budget. Try comparing that to Ken Starr who had 50 + staff working on the Waterwater and Lewinsky case which cost 70 million. With this temporary setback of trust in the case fed by the media, the Polticios will try to do damage control to make it differcult for the DOJ office to continue this case since this case involves many key players from the WH!

Answer: Two separate charges, Grandmanuk. Rove was never going to be indicted for leaking Plame's identity just Libby was never charged for that. Obstruction of justice and lying to investigators is a different charge than leaking a CIA covert's name.. Rove gave very inconsistent GJ testimonies.. As I said we will never know WHO leaked Plame's identity first. This is what Fitz's invesitgation in the beginning: who leaked Plame's name. There were too many people who leaked her name that it differcult in a timeframe to pinpoint who leak her name first. But, this case centers around a WH conspiracy to discredit Wilson.. They found something to bring Wilson down a peg: his wife! Wilson has always said that there was more to the case than just leaking his wife's name. If Wilson's was discredited by the WH, there would have not been a war in Iraq as preplan by the blueprint of the Gerbil.. Former CIA George Tenet knew actually where King Gerbil was heading when the Gerbil gave those 16 words, he knew that there was no WMD...

Answer: That is the media feeding words to the public. The media used the word "leak" to assume that Rove was possibly be charged with the leak.. I think alot of you need to read Jason's prior articles really carefully. Let me see if I can find the article.. All I say is that this is still an on going investigation and notice that Luskin is doing all the talking about what the prosecutor tends to do with Rove.. That is why I say on this blog that I don't carry the T.V. media with a grain of salt as 100% accurate... And no, Grandmanuk, Fitz has never said that Rove is not going to be charged at ALL IN THE ENTIRE CIA INVESIGATION! Got to read between the lines with the media..
