Iowa poll: Edwards tops Clinton - Whispers of Fitz

In reality, the article doesn't even mention me, but let's first focus on the fall elections before letting the media do what it does best - taking an exciting exercise in democracy and turning the general election into a long drawn out and horribly boring two year horse race.

If you want more of the same, vote for Hillary Clinton. She is FOR the Iraq war and maybe even want to start a war with Iran. Apparently she is on very friendly terms with the Bush family too, which sends up a warning flag to me.

Funny how the media/public don't think Hillary could be a good President. Even the commet by Anon was interesting say Hillary was friends with the Bush family yet no one is impeaching GW. We are so backward in the US. Other world leaders have female President and we praise them for womans rights yet we don't do the same here. Behind every good man is a great woman. I wonder what these non woman President men think of their Moms and how well their Moms raised them. I guess it makes since because Bush was given the Presidentcy twice and he's as dumb as a door knob it tells alot about us.
Fitz do what you do best tomorrow and take down the evil doers. I'll check in tomorrow morning which will be three hours different in your time. Stand straight and try to give us a smile. Eat a good breakfast and don't spill anything on your tie or pants.

If you go to Truthout.org on the right hand of Fitz's page, you'll find the link. It is the top story as of 'now' on the left side of page.

Well -- Cheney, W and gang -- somehow reminds me of tale of 3 witches and their brew. ;)

As for Hillary - pls, I'm for a woman, or a man with an IQ of greater than 80 which is what we have in the Oval.. {{preferably a top notch lawyer - minimum 12 years experience [uhm, so they understand it and have applied it appropriately for starters; SOME appreciation for the Constitution] and yes, with a major in HISTORY so we do not repeat it}}.
But, we do not need posers, opportunists, those that have manipulated the law for personal gain, benefit or those that are bible thumpers because it is "in".
We lack true leadership today as we've lost our way on greed and power.

I'm not impressed with ANYONE on either side of the aisle. Move aside all, make way for FITZ.

Kind of liked the Fitz and Spitz scenario before ... but then, Fitz would have to pick his running mate ....

Jackie, don't you agree that for instance we wouldn't want to vote for Condoleezza Rice for President just because she is black and a woman, although that would have been nice. We vote for somebody because of their interest to truly serve the people, irregardless of race or gender. Hillary Rodham Clinton seems to have too much self-interest in becoming a president.

Good morining all,

From the Washington Post:

"The doors may be closing shortly on the nine-year-old Project for a New American Century, the neoconservative think tank headed by William Kristol , former chief of staff to Vice President Dan Quayle and now editor of the Weekly Standard, which is must reading for neocon cogitators and agitators.

The PNAC was short on staff -- having perhaps a half-dozen employees -- but very long on heavy hitters. The founders included Richard B. Cheney , Donald H. Rumsfeld , Paul D. Wolfowitz , Jeb Bush , I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby , William J. Bennett, Zalmay Khalilzad and Quayle."

Answer to Anon 10:24 Rice has never been elected to an office she will not run for President it's just talk. Now as for the race of a person well I was raised not to deal with race but the person so your asking the wrong person I'm color blind. My family is African American, Indian, White English, Spanish and Cuban so I'm mixed with everybody. You might say I'm a mixed group of races and respect all.
As for Hillary as President well let's see who qualifies and would you Vote for George Bush or Hillary as President? We have woman who can bring life into the world, fight in war, raise men to be men yet woman don't qualify as Presidents. The United States is being coming the one of the most backward countries, by saying give woman rights while pushing them backward. Let's face it our country has been tricked and made a fool of by George W. Bush so we're not ready to think on our own yet.

Here's a creepy story about Frist being a Kitty-killer from the Tennessean.com. It explains a lot. I always felt like he was too creepy to be a doctor (but not a politician)...

"There's a potential pothole in U.S. Sen. Bill Frist's road to the White House: He's a confessed kitty killer.

He fessed up in his 1989 book, "Transplant," to adopting cats from shelters when he was in medical school, treating them like pets for a while, and then using them in his research experiments. Maybe in hindsight, Trent Lott should have seen it coming."

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Fitzbloggers!

Hsppy Monday!

Yes, Roger, I am looking forward to keeping a close eye and ear in Fitz's court hearing today. I am confident that he will do well. I read Jason's new article on Truthout.org. It is good hearing from you. I did missed him writing his article. I know that it has been rough on him. As Jason says that his case is in secrecy. And the Sealed Vs. Sealed suggests that Fitz "felt it was necessary to add an extra layer of secreacy to an indictment to keep it out of public view." So, we all have to wait and see when Fitz actually makes the indictments of Official A, Official A+, and Official A-. As the legal scholars says that a federal prosecutor can keep an indictment under seal for weeks or months. I think this strategy by Fitz will be worth it to bring those individuals brought down to justice.

Here is my 2 cents on the article about Clinton and Edwards. I don't care what race, creed, religion, or gender gets in to the WH in 2008. As long as that candidate will abide by the laws of the Constitution and the position as the President. Folks, for 5 years, we have had a lame duck Gerbil President that stole, crawled in to the WH, lied to the American people, and broken the laws of the Constitution to fit his agenda. It is time for all of the American people to do our homework on all of the candidates and choose which candidate will lead, serve the American people, abide by the Constitution, and clean the public sink!

Florida House candidate to face litany of criminal charges after alleging vote fraud

"Charlie Grapski, a Democrat running for the Florida House of Representatives, was arrested in April after filing a lawsuit alleging that City officials abused power and influenced the outcome of an election by manipulating the absentee voting process. The story, however, does not start or end with election fraud allegations. What Grapski tells is a tale that one cannot imagine occurring in a law abiding country, one of false arrest, intimidation, and a crony-business system all centered around money interests."

"In this exclusive interview with RAW STORY on June 11, 2006, Grapski reveals startling details of his situation and updates regarding an election outcome allegedly changed by absentee ballot manipulation. He also levels serious allegations of abuse of power by public officials, including officials linked to President George W. Bush's brother, Florida Governor Jeb Bush."

Blogger SP Biloxi said...

Folks,

When Fitz mentioned that the media will distort information about the leak case, the little soldier's from Bryon York is one of them. Here are two examples!

Media Matters for America has documented numerous instances of conservative misinformation from York.

For example, York has misrepresented key elements of the CIA leak investigation:

•"York recently claimed that court papers -- released April 6 --pertaining to special counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald's investigation of former vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby "contained the erroneous and later-corrected suggestion that Libby lied about the contents of the National Intelligence Estimate [NIE]." York, however, misstated Fitzgerald's correction. According to those original papers, Libby testified that Vice President Dick Cheney instructed him to tell former New York Times reporter Judith Miller that a "key judgment" of the 2002 NIE was that Iraq was "vigorously trying to procure" uranium. Fitzgerald amended the prior assertion -- that Libby testified that Cheney authorized him to tell Miller that it was a "key judgment" -- not the "suggestion that Libby lied about the contents of the" NIE, as York wrote."

•"In response to news of FBI interviews further confirming that neighbors of former CIA operative Valerie Plame did not know of her employment with the agency before syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak's July 14, 2003, column identified her, York revived a Washington Times editorial's baseless conclusion that Plame's neighbors did, in fact, know of her covert status."

Speaking of CNN, there is an article about Libby's case but no new developments. But, this is a bit of information about Porkrind:

Cheney's ex-aide Libby to appear in court

"Fitzgerald, a U.S. attorney in Chicago, has returned to Washington at least twice since Libby's indictment to present evidence to a second grand jury. The panel has heard testimony from top White House policy advisor Karl Rove, most recently April 26."

We now know that Rove met on April 26. Yet, an indictment was returned by the GJ the week of May 10 remains under seal according to Truthout.org! I wonder what Porkrind said to the GJ!

Two pieces of news:

1. What can you say about this article except fire Chertoff! Absolutely embarassment to the DHS!

Homeland Security accepts fake ID
By Stephen Dinan
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
June 12, 2006

"The Department of Homeland Security allowed a man to enter its headquarters last week using a fake Matricula Consular card as identification, despite federal rules that say the Mexican-issued card is not valid ID at government buildings."
"Bruce DeCell, a retired New York City police officer, used his phony card -- which lists his place of birth as "Tijuana, B.C." and his address as "123 Fraud Blvd." on an incorrectly spelled "Staton Island, N.Y." -- to enter the building Wednesday for a meeting with DHS officials."

"Mr. DeCell said he has had the card for four years and has used it again and again to board airliners and enter government buildings, without being turned down once. But he said he was surprised that DHS, the agency in charge of determining secure IDs, accepted it."

http://www.washtimes.com/national/20060612-123713-4122r.htm

2. And I don't what to say on this new info on Jerry Lewis!

From TPMmuckraker:

Young, Multimillionaire Aide to Lewis Claims Elderlies' Tax Break?
By Justin Rood - June 12, 2006, 4:04 PM

"Jeffrey Shockey is a 39-year-old aide to Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-CA) who picked up $2 million from his old lobbying firm last year.
But the District of Columbia doesn't appear to know that.
According to the city's records, Shockey is a senior citizen who earns less than $100,000 a year. That qualifies him for a major break on the taxes he pays on his home, a manse thought to be worth over a million dollars."

"The tax break essentially chops the assessed value of an elderly person's home in half. In Shockey's case, he saved around $4,000 last year alone by claiming the deduction, according to the city's online database."

Leak prosecutor doesn't expect info block:

WASHINGTON - The special prosecutor in the CIA leak investigation said Monday he doesn't expect the White House to attempt to block Vice President Dick Cheney's former top aide from using classified intelligence material in his defense to perjury charges.

Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald told U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton that the White House has designated certain documents that it is concerned about being made public during a trial.

If those documents are among those that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby wants to prepare his defense, Fitzgerald said, he and Libby's lawyers will work out solutions with the judge in secret under a law designed to deal with defendants' access to classified government information.

Jan,

Thanks for passing along the article on Fitz's court hearing today. I couldn't find a single article from the media that given an update... Gosh, in a nutshell, the smurf has hanged himself with a noose: the bottom line. It is interesting what the smurf's lawyer said: "Cline also told Walton the defense has not yet decided whether it will call an expert on memory to testify at trial." And you why? That was a strategy that the smurf and his lawyers thought would work: The Gilligan's defense. Because Fitz said that he was going to bring witnesses in to prove the smurf's competance in his job position, Libby's lawyers went to Plan B to try to bring back the reporters to testify and try to obtain more document to jar the smurf's "memory." I just don't think that Libby's attorneys will bring in a memory expert (if only it is their last resort) because you have to ask was Libby in a doctor's care or a doctor's note to claim that Libby's was incompetent in his job between the time frame of the leak to the reporters? The memory expert was just a rabbit at the hat for his lawyers to throw out. Right now, the smurf's defense in this case is nothing more on borrowed time! When Darth Cheney, Porkrind, and others are indicted, it will be too little too late for the smurf to plea bargain with Fitzgerald!

Jan, his mind was fine like you and I. He was doing what he was told by his boss, Mad Dog Cheney. I would want to ask the smurf if his memory was out of touch between the timeframe of leaking to reporter, then was Libby's "memory" in tac when he was a participant in the marketing campaign and propaganda of selling a war in Iraq around September 2002?: From Vanity Fair: "At roughly the same time, highly placed White House sources such as Scooter Libby leaked exclusive 'scoops' to credulous reporters as part of the campaign to make Saddam's nuclear threat seem real."

Yeah, I knew that Libby's defense worked with Reagan. That explains why they tried to use the "greymail strategy" from the get go. Also, one of Libby's lawyers was on the Iran-Contra case...

From Washington Wire on WSJ:

Here is another update of the court hearing today from Washington Wire on the WSJ:

June 12, 2006, 3:20 pm
Libby Defense Team Considers Memory Expert
The defense team for former Vice Presidential Chief of Staff I. Lewis Libby said it is considering calling a memory expert to testify at his trial early next year.
Libby is charged with five counts of lying to federal investigators and the grand jury and obstructing an investigation into whether Bush administration officials wrongfully disclosed the identity of a CIA agent. He has pleaded not guilty.
Attorneys representing Libby have said in court filings that any erroneous statements made to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents or the grand jury were the result of a faulty memory, and not intentional lies. It isn’t clear if the federal judge hearing the case would allow such testimony. At a status hearing Monday, Libby’s attorneys said they would notify the judge by July 17 if they plan to call such a witness, and the government could then object. – Anne Marie Squeo

The little soldier is still going with the Gilligan's defense... riding a dead horse.. He won't dismount from that dead horse and find another defense strategy...

Well, someone had to help out the brother to let him know that his dead horse strategy is completed toasted.. From keeping a close eye on the leak case, Fitz should have charged him another 5 counts of using such a lame, same Nixon playbook, dead in the water and stupid defense as the Gillgan's defense! And his lawyers are certainly bleeding the little soldier in legal fees so much that his lawyers have quite enough to put away for retirement in the Cayman Islands.

S-Q, and Jan:

A speaker at a seminar that I attend sometime ago was speaking about change. People don't like to change. So, the speaker compared a person who won't change their directions, strategy or path in life to a person who continues to ride a horse even though the horse is dead. That is why I said that Libby is riding a dead horse. He has no case. And then the speaker advised that if you are riding a dead horse, dismount from it and find another horse to ride. I know you all laugh at my comment. But, that is what I meant by my statement. The lame duck President has been riding the same dead horse as Libby in his retarded agendas for this country!

Jan,

Libby just can't dismount off that dead horse! And since he is listening to his attorneys who are using the same old playbook, well, there you go!! Libby is like the character in the play: "Waiting for the Godot." The play was in the 4 scenes. And each scene, the two characters do the same thing: wait for the Godot. And the Godot never comes.. Libby is waiting for a miracle to happen from a dead horse case and it ain't going to happen! I should ask Websters Dictionary to stick Libby's face next to the defintion of insanity!

Rove roller coaster again!

Jason Leopold is standing by his statement that Rove was indicted a month ago.

According to Jason Leopold, the man whose credibility is most on the line "case number is "06 cr 128." is on the federal court's electronic database, '06 cr 128' and "is listed along with a succinct summary: 'No further information is available.'"

He offers a lot more credible evidence to suggest that the indictment is being treated so carefully that it has been given an extra layer of protection.
"Still, legal experts watching the Plame-Wilson investigation have been paying particularly close attention to Sealed vs. Sealed since the Karl Rove indictment story was published.

Folks at DU are trying to locate Sealed v. Sealed under 06-cr-128.

DU

Some there are convinced it refers to a motion to quash by Time Warner in the libby case, although the motion would be numbered with an MC not a CR. Wish it would occur to them to put it in both ways and see if they get different results.

Someone over at Truthout had this to say:

"Mr. Ash:

I'm afraid you are being badly burned here. Cases are numbered in consecutive order by filing date, and in fact to call this purported indictment Case "06 cr 128" is incorrect on its face. You couldn't even look it up on the Party/Case index that way. It's possible that you might turn up something using 1-06-cr-128, but correctly labeled, this case would be a variant of 1:06-cr-00128. In identifying and searching for records, laymen typically mistake the importance of specific numerical combinations & punctuation in legal nomenclature.

The numbering system employed by the courts indicate that case 1:06-cr-00128 had to have been filed either on May 16th, as was the preceeding Case 1:06-cr-00127, or on May 17th as was the following Case 1:06-cr-00129. There is no way it could have been filed in the time frame asserted by Mr. Leopold, and defended by you.

As for Mr. Leopold's latest, I cannot conceive of any reason a serious "legal expert" or "legal scholar" would insist on anonymity before commenting on the unusual nature of a "Sealed v Sealed" docket entry. The mistake in identifying the case # itself is only one of several errors in terminology that any knowledgeable party simply would not make."

http://forum.truthout.org/blog/story/2006/6/12/9216/61823

Well, we can only hope the errors were Jason's, not the sources.

Folks,

The great and powerful Prokrind has spoken:

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - White House adviser Karl Rove said Monday that Republicans facing midterm elections should campaign on the economy's strength and discuss the war in Iraq with no qualms.
"We have no excuses to make for it," Rove said during a fundraising dinner for New Hampshire Republicans. War supporters need not apologize for removing the threat of Saddam Hussein, and with so much work left to do, now is not the time to talk about leaving Iraq, he said.
Rove said Democrats pushing for the withdrawal of American troops should be the ones facing tough questions for wanting to "cut and run." He targeted Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry and Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha, both Democrats and vocal supporters of getting out of Iraq.
"They are profoundly wrong," he said.
More than 400 people paid $100 to have dinner and hear Rove rally the faithful to work to retain Republican dominance in a state now viewed as a swing state in presidential elections. Dinner and a private reception with Rove cost $250."

And right on, that;s right.. And that clears up the matter about Porky Porkrind. Looking forward for the indictment papers served on Porkrind.

I found this interesting on MSNBC about the court hearing today:

"Judge calls for ‘table of contents’
The judge ordered the CIA to provide what amounts to a “table of contents” of what Libby and Cheney received six days a week. The briefings contain sensitive details about intelligence gathered on threats against the United States."
"The defense attorneys originally wanted nearly a year of the intelligence briefings to show that Libby had more important matters on his mind and could have easily forgotten or remembered incorrectly “snippets” of conversations he had about CIA operative Valerie Plame."

If Libby is going to raise the "I was so busy I forgot" defense, it seems to me that Fitz should subpoena the billing records of Libby's attorney to see how many hours Libby spent prepping with his attorneys for his Grand Jury testimony. That info is not privileged, and it certainly is relevant to the question of whether Libby was just too busy to remember. And I'm sure that Fitz can think of a few other useful areas of inquiry to deal with that pathetic defense.

And calling a defense expert on memory retention! Golly gee, just think of all the areas to explore on cross. The defense might create more problems that it had without an expert witness. And if I am on the jury, I am going to view the calling of an expert as an effort to throw up a smokescreen. Of course, unless Libby is claiming some sort of special (medical?) condition that can not be understood without expert testimony, I don't think the Judge will let that testimony in. What a bunch of crap!
