Libby And Veep In Deep Doe Doe...

Evil Cess Happens....

Libby's Grand Jury Testimony Transcript - May 24, 2006
Exhibits A through C

Sorry Scooter, No More Discovery For You- Part III - May 24, 2006
"To be clear, the government’s argument is not (as the defendant claims) that it is more likely that the Vice President discussed these issues with defendant merely because he wrote them down but, rather that, in light of the Vice President’s annotation of the Wilson Op Ed with the words, “Did Wilson’s wife send him on a junket?,” it is unlikely that, as defendant testified, the issue was not discussed in defendant’s repeated conversations with the Vice President during the week following the Wilson Op Ed’s publication."
And the MSM still thinks I am calling Cheney as a "witness" - WITNESS my a**!" ;)
What Would Cheney Say? - Washington (Clueless) Post
"For one, Fitzgerald yesterday made it clear that he may very well call Cheney as a witness. ( I did? )

In one of the brief's footnotes, of all things, he wrote: "Contrary to defendant's assertion, the government has not represented that it does not intend to call the Vice President as a witness at trial. To the best of government's counsel's recollection, the government has not commented on whether it intends to call the Vice President as a witness."

And then, to bolster his argument that notes from Cheney are more relevant to the case than notes from peripheral figures, Fitzgerald released several pages of Libby's hitherto secret grand jury testimony.

According to Libby's own testimony, Cheney was upset for several days about Wilson's op-ed in the New York Times -- and spoke of it frequently during that period.

"I recall that he was very keen to get the truth out," Libby told the grand jury on March 5, 2004. "He wanted to get all the facts out about what he had or hadn't done, what the facts were or were not. He was very keen about that and said it repeatedly. Let's get everything out." [

Right under their noses. Sheesh! ;)

Hell, even I don't have one.

The point is, they have really nothing to answer on, they did this in secret to have some fun. They did not want the whole world here, you can ask Jackie...

They just wanted their followers to have a place to go, see whats happening with the case, give feedback and relax. And they'll never have to worry about anything else.

Ex-Lover Sues Washingtonienne -- for Getting the Details Wrong
By Justin Rood - May 25, 2006, 4:20 PM
A quick refresher: in 2004, a twentysomething Hill staffer had been keeping a "secret" online diary of her sexual exploits with various Hill figures. Someone emailed the URL to Wonkette, who wrote about it ad nauseum. Washingtonienne was unmasked as Jessica Cutler, a staffer for Sen. Mike DeWine (R-OH). She lost her job, found a book deal. Then, except for occasional stories about how she gets sexually entangled with her lawyers, she disappeared.
But one of the men Cutler wrote about, Robert Steinbuch, wants justice. And he's willing to have even more details of his private life entered into the public record in order to get it.
Steinbuch, a senior DeWine adviser (or, as Cutler described him, "this crazy hair-pulling, ass-smacking dude who wants to use handcuffs on me") is suing Cutler, not for violating his privacy, but to correct what he says are falsehoods in what she blogged.
“There are graphic and intimate details which are not true,” Steinbuch told Legal Times. “Those are facts that are going to be litigated.”
http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/

I left out the graphic and sexual detail that was mention in the article because it may disturb some folks. You have to read the article...

U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow is expected to resign by mid-June, according to CNBC.

"What we are now hearing from Republican sources in Washington is the likeliest scenario is that John Snow will leave sometime in the middle of the month of June," said John Harwood, national political editor of the Wall Street Journal, in a CNBC interview.

Snow is expected to leave either before or after the G8 finance ministers' meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia. The report is expected in Friday's edition of the Wall Street Journal.

Fitz has posted an article of the Gerbil's connection to Kenneth Lay. Here is another connection to Lay, Governator Arnold of California. From Truthout.org, here is an excerpt:

"When Ken met Arnold in the hotel room, the games were far from over. For example, in June 2003, Reliant Corporation of Houston simply turned off several power plants, and when California cities faced going dark, the company sold them a pittance of kilowatts for more than gold, making several million in minutes.
" Power-market shenanigans were nothing new in 2000. What was new was the response of Governor Gray Davis. A normally quiet, if not dull, man, this Governor had the temerity to call the energy sellers "pirates" - in public! - and, even more radically, he asked them to give back all the ill-gotten loot, the entire $9 billion. The state filed a regulatory complaint with the federal government.
"The Peninsula Hotel get-together was all about how to "settle" the legal actions in such a way that Enron and friends could get the state to accept dog food instead of dollars. Davis seemed unlikely to see things Ken's way. Life would be so much better if California had a governor like the muscle guy in the Speedos.
"And so it came to pass that, in 2003, quiet Gray Davis, who had the cojones to stand up to the electricity barons, was thrown out of office by the voters and replaced by the tinker-toy tough guy. The Governator performed as desired. Soon after Schwarzenegger took over from Davis, he signed off on a series of deals with Reliant, Williams Company, Dynegy, Entergy and the other power pirates for ten to twenty cents on the dollar, less than you'd tip the waitress. Enron paid just about nothing."

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052506A.shtml

So I hear that Governor Arnolsd may be in his way out as Governor. The two Democrats candidates will have to duke it out for the chance for governor.

Secondly, a followup to the Enron trial. From WSJ, here is some of the experts that are discussing the chances of Lay in appeal:

Not an Appealing Future
Posted by Ashby Jones

If the experts’ commentary is to be believed, Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling shouldn’t pin their hopes on an appellate reversal. “I just don’t see any obvious issues [for appeal],” says Andrew Hruska, a white-collar defense lawyer at King & Spalding in New York and former federal prosecutor, adding that defense lawyers typically look to the jury instructions and the jury-selection process for its grounds “Good luck,” adds Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Randy Mastro, also a former federal prosecutor. “The jury made its finding, and it’s going to be very hard to overturn it.”
The sentence that each has to serve could well be 20 years or more, ratcheting up the probability that Lay, 64, and Skilling, 52, could spend the rest of their lives behind bars. And that, says Samuel Buell, a visiting professor of law at University of Texas and former Enron Task Force member, makes it all the more vital to both men that they’re able to delay the end of this thing for as long as possible. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 11. “Each day that their lawyers can keep them out of prison is a victory; it’s one more day off their sentences.”

In other words, the chances of Lay winning appeal is little to none.. Berkowitz and team pretty much nailed Lay and Skilling.

From WSJ:

Kenneth Lay had to give up his passport.. And check out his response to the verdict:

Ken Lay’s Dark Day
Posted by Peter Lattman

post-verdict subplot transpired in the courthouse today. Skilling had already surrendered his passport and put up a $5 million bond, so he and Petrocelli left the courthouse almost immediately after the verdict. But Lay hadn’t, and Judge Lake ordered Lay to surrender his passport and post the $5 million bond.
“I’m not going to let Mr. Lay leave this building until his passport has been surrendered,” Lake said, according to the Houston Chronicle trial blog.
So earlier this afternoon, during a brief hearing before Judge Sim Lake, Lay’s wife, Linda, and his children signed the bond. Lake said: “You shall appear at all (court) appearances as required … you shall specifically appear on Sept. 11, 2006, at 1 p.m. for the sentencing.” Between now and his trial, Lay is not allowed to “drink alcohol excessively,” own a firearm, or be in contact with any witnesses or jurors.

We’re shocked,” Lay said. “I firmly believe I’m innocent of the charges against me.” He added:
Despite what happened today, I am still a very blessed man…I have a very warm and loving Christian family that supports me . . . Most of all, we believe that God, in fact, is in control and inded he does work all things for good for those who love the Lord. And we love our Lord and ultimately all of these things will work for good.

Please... Why do crooks do that.. find God or plead for God when they get caught.. Lay sounds as though God wasn't around for service when he was stealing!

RE: False Story Regarding Justice Department Investigation

The article regarding Ireland, was taken off of this website entirely.

It was done because really, Fitzgerald's office is tired of getting calls about this blog.

This blog was meant as nothing more than a secret place to simply relax, pass the time, and onward.

Instead some various people, including Clarice, who I will not say are neocons since no one knows either way-decided to turn this into a spitball war.

As we already were well aware, neocons have attacked this place since its inception. But this was different.

This person seemed to have real difficulty getting the message, and even a bizarre type of vendetta. (Anger management medication perhaps?)

So she and her friend drove everyone up the wall, making it a better time than any to remove anything of Fitzgerald's cousin or anyone's personal life.

Technically all of that is pretty off subject and private information, and with the kind of prying eyes here...nobody really wanted to see it go all over the globe.

Thanks to the trouble these past few days, anything of personal nature has been removed and various other rules have been established.

Here are excerpts:

Shuster says:

"Documents released earlier in the case indicate Vice President Cheney and Libby talked about the Wilsons on the very day Libby allegedly leaked her identity to two reporters. Is Patrick Fitzgerald trying to build a case against Vice President Cheney?"

Ah, yes David.. Fitz is!!

"SHUSTER: Meanwhile, in the investigation of Karl Rove, sources close to the presidential advisor are now confirming a story first reported in the national journal that Rove, who was a source for columnist Bob Novak, later had a separate conversation with Novak after the investigation began."

"Former federal prosecutors are convinced Fitzgerald has explored whether Rove and Novak coordinated their testimony.
But today, a spokesman for Karl Rove said quote, "Karl Rove has never urged anyone, directly or indirectly, to withhold information from the special Counsel or to testify falsely. Circulating such speculation now is nothing short of irresponsible."

"SHUSTER: (on-camera) But the contention is not that Karl Rove urged Bob Novak to withhold information, rather it's that Rove was assured early in the case that Novak was not going to burn him."

Hastert: Timing of Letter and Fund-Raiser Just a Coincidence
May 25, 2006 4:47 PM

Brian Ross Reports:

Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert said today that is was "a coincidence" that convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff held a fund-raiser for Hastert the week Hastert sent a letter to the Secretary of Interior that benefited some of Abramoff's clients. The fund-raiser was held at a restaurant owned by Abramoff.

Here's the full transcript of his comments, including his reaction to the ABC News story about him:

Reporter: Mr. Speaker, you did write a letter to the Interior Secretary trying to quash the building of this casino that would have competed with the one represented by Jack Abramoff.

Speaker Hastert: Well, you know, I'm not sure what Abramoff's connection was, I really don't. Jim McCreary from Louisiana asked us, and 33 of us signed a letter because we also have underlying concerns, and this is venue shopping by tribes, in areas that they weren't necessarily in before, to put casinos down. We have a problem in Illinois with Miami Indians. In central Illinois, we also have a problem in my own district with the Kansas Potawatomi's who want to do the same thing. So it was a letter saying this precedent shouldn't be set.

Reporter: And the fact that it was written after you had a fund-raiser at Jack Abramoff's restaurant?

Speaker Hastert: That's, that's a coincidence.

Reporter: What do you make of the fact that this investigation got out there the same time you have a conflict with the FBI over the Jefferson raid?

Speaker Hastert: Well, you know, first of all, what we want to do is not protect people that broke the law, what we need to protect is the division of powers in the Constitution of the United States, and that's one of the things I talked to the President about, that's one of the things that we're concerned about in this issue, and it's an ongoing discussion that we have. Now I don't know if this leak out of the Justice department or wherever it came was a coincidence or not, but I'll let anybody else connect the dots.

Reporter: Trying to intimidate you?

Speaker Hastert: I wouldn't say that. I don't know.

Reporter: What is your remedy from ABC News right now? What would you like to see from them?

Speaker Hastert: That's something my lawyers are taking care of right now, thank you.

An angry President George W. Bush intervened in the Justice Department's so-called constitutional confrontation with Congress Thursday and ordered that documents seized in an FBI raid on a congressman's office be sealed for 45 days.

The president ordered no one involved in the investigation can have access to the documents under seal and that they remain in the custody of the solicitor general.

Bush's move is seen as an attempt to reach a cooling off period in a heated confrontation between his administration and leaders of the House and Senate.

Hastert accuses Justice Dept. of 'intimidation' tactics
By LAURI KELLMAN
May 25, 2006, 13:51

House Speaker Dennis Hastert accused the Justice Department Thursday of trying to intimidate him in retaliation for criticizing the FBI's weekend raid on a congressman's office, escalating a searing battle between the executive and legislative branches of government.

"This is one of the leaks that come out to try to, you know, intimidate people," Hastert said on WGN radio Thursday morning. "We're just not going to be intimidated on it."

Asked later Thursday whether he thought he Justice Department retaliated against him with the leak, Hastert replied: "All I'm saying is, here are the dots. People can connect any dots they want to."

"I thought it was an interesting sequence of events," he added.

The Illinois Republican, in his interview with the Chicago radio station, was responding to an ABC News report that quoted an unnamed law enforcement source as saying that he was "in the mix" of the Justice Department's investigation into influence peddling by convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

"We are not going to dignify or speculate about the motives of anonymous sources providing inaccurate information," said Justice Department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

Within minutes of that report late Wednesday, the department issued the first of two denials that it was investigating Hastert. The speaker demanded a retraction from ABC News, which stood by its story. Hastert on Thursday threatened to sue the network and reporters and executives for libel and defamation.

"We will take any and all actions necessary to rectify the harm ABC has caused and to hold those at ABC responsible for their conduct," wrote Hastert's counsels, J. Randolph Evans and Stefan C. Passantino. The letter was addressed to network President David Westin and reporter Brian Ross.

"Our response to the letter is our reporting on the story," said ABC News Vice President Jeffrey Schneider.

Correspondent Brian Ross stood by his report, saying he has checked with his sources who say the story accurately represents the facts "as they know them."

"There's enough there for them (the FBI) to take a look at the speaker" and other members of Congress, Ross said in an interview.

Hastert aimed his broadsides at the Justice Department amid a swirl of recriminations on Capitol Hill, including warnings by some lawmakers of a voter backlash against members of Congress "trying to protect their own."

Hastert's aides, at the same time, were in talks with the White House about the possible transfer of material seized by the FBI during its weekend raid of the office of Rep. William Jefferson, perhaps to the House ethics committee, according to several Republican officials.

A federal law enforcement official said no computers were taken during the search. Instead, "mirror images" were made of the contents of some computers in Jefferson's office, the official said on condition of anonymity because the items taken during the search remain under court seal

The goals of any transfer, they said, would be to deny the documents both to prosecutors and to Jefferson, a Louisiana Democrat ensnared in a bribery investigation, until the legal issues surrounding the weekend search of his office are resolved. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity, citing the confidential nature of the discussions.

Historians said it was the first such search of a congressman's quarters in the more than two centuries since the first Congress convened.

The White House continued to try to keep its distance publicly, saying it acknowledged "the constitutional concerns" expressed.

The House Judiciary Committee chairman, GOP Rep. James Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin, announced a hearing next week, "Reckless Justice: Did the Saturday Night Raid of Congress Trample the Constitution?"

The Associated Press reported last November that Hastert for two years did not disclose his use of Abramoff's restaurant for a fundraiser just two weeks before he asked the Interior Department in a letter to reject a Louisiana Indian tribe's application for a casino license.

At the time, Abramoff was representing another tribe that opposed the casino. Hastert, who collected a total of $100,000 from Abramoff's and his tribal clients, blamed a paperwork oversight, filed the required disclosure and paid for the use of the restaurant.

"$100,000 went unaccounted for due to paperwork oversight" That statement will certainly go down in history as the most retarded excuse for a representative.. That quote should go be taught in the GERBIL 101 class!!

Hmmm...

A very interesting article about Cheney. From WSJ:

May 25, 2006, 4:52 pm
Cheney’s Pen Knife Clipping System
In an administration that has shown disdain for the media, it’s interesting to learn from the grand jury testimony of I. Lewis Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, that his boss often used “a little pen knife” to clip newspaper articles.
Cheney would then put them on the edge of his desk or inside, pulling them out to look at and think about, Libby testified in March 2004. “That will often happen,” Libby told Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald as part of the investigation into whether Bush administration officials leaked the identity of a CIA agent in response to a critical opinion piece by her husband.
Answering follow-up questions, Libby said the vice president often would keep two or three articles on the corner of his desk where they would remain “sometimes [for] a long time.” Libby noted that sometimes Cheney kept the articles in his briefcase or other places too. “I’ve seen him produce them from different places,” Libby testified. –Anne Marie Squeo

And what articles that Cheney keeps for a while in his briefcase.. Ummm.. say some articles about Joe Wilson..maybe??

One final note regarding my previous posting. If a person like Cheney keeps articles for a long time in his briefcase or in other places, means that that person is really engrossed into that particular article.. Not saying obsess with the articles.. But, it does show of a person state of mind and behavior in regarding to possession of items such as the articles. Now are those several articles in which Cheney keeps in possession for a long time are on the same subject or person.. Makes you wonder.. But, this WSJ article does shed some light of Dead Eye Dick's behavior observed by the little soldier...

Or that's just his thing. I know women like that (one being my mother) pass time cutting stuff out of mags and papers and filling them. Bet he has some files of his cut-out- would be fun to make a collageout of them-show the state of his mind.

Yup, Jan!

Cut-outs of Ambassador Joe Wilson's face and several articles of Wilson's op on what he found in Niger.. Yup, that's sure sums up Dead Eye Dick's state of mind.

This is starting to smell like the One Armed Bandit Defense from Hastert."It wasn't me. It was a paperwork oversight."
