Officials: Hastert "In the Mix" of Congressional Bribery Investigation
May 24, 2006 6:24 PM Brian Ross Reports:
Federal officials say the Congressional bribery investigation now includes Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, based on information from convicted lobbyists who are now cooperating with the government.
Part of the investigation involves a letter Hastert wrote three years ago, urging the Secretary of the Interior to block a casino on an Indian reservation that would have competed with other tribes.
The other tribes were represented by convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff who reportedly has provided details of his dealings with Hastert as part of his plea agreement with the government.
The letter was written shortly after a fund-raiser for Hastert at a restaurant owned by Abramoff. Abramoff and his clients contributed more than $26,000 at the time.
The day Abramoff was indicted, Hastert denied any unlawful connection and said he would donate to charity any campaign contribution he had received from Abramoff and his clients.
A spokesman for Speaker Hastert told ABC News, "We are not aware of this. The Speaker has a long history and a well-documented record of opposing Indian Reservation shopping for casino gaming purposes."
This week, Hastert has been outspoken in his criticism of the FBI for its raid on the office of another congressman under investigation, Democrat William Jefferson of Louisiana.
"My opinion is that they took the wrong path, Hastert said of the FBI. "They need to back up, and we need to go from there."

GROUP: New Video Exposes Behind-the-Scenes Story of Gore’s Own Energy Use Wed May 24 2006 17:59:00 ET
As former Vice President Al Gore’s documentary on global warming fears debuts today, a new video from the Competitive Enterprise Institute tracks Gore’s own “carbon footprint.” CEI’s 70-second video points out that Gore himself is a big user of the hydrocarbon fuels that produce carbon dioxide when combusted.
Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” asks, "Are you willing to change the way you live?" The Gore documentary and new book of the same name go on to suggest ways that people can reduce their carbon footprint, yet Mr. Gore has clearly not taken his own message to heart. He even says in the documentary that he has given his global warming Power Point slide show more than 1,000 times all around the world.
The CEI video, which may be viewed at: http://streams.cei.org/, includes footage of Gore and his constant air travel with two CO2 meters running at the bottom of the page that compare Gore’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions with those of an average person.
"All the evidence suggests that Mr. Gore is an elitist who passionately believes that the people of the world must drastically reduce their energy use but that it doesn't apply to him,” said Myron Ebell, CEI's director of energy and global warming policy and the creator of the video.

WASHINGTON May 24, 2006 (AP)— The Justice Department denied a news report Wednesday that it was investigating House Speaker Dennis Hastert.
The statement by department spokeswoman Tasia Scolinos came in response to a report by ABC News that Hastert was under investigation by the FBI to determine his role in a public corruption probe centered around convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Just as bloggers here jumped on the false Jason Leopold's report of Rove being indicted like it was red meat, they also jumped to conclusions from a false ABC news report. You guys never learn. You can't convict someone until the legal process has been completed.

Less than half of Americans satisfied with 9/11 investigations
RAW STORY Published: Tuesday May 23, 2006
Print This | Email This According to a new Zogby poll, less than half of Americans are convinced that that the events of September 11 have been thoroughly investigated, RAW STORY has learned.
In the telephone survey of 1200 individuals, just 47% agreed that "the 9/11 attacks were thoroughly investigated and that any speculation about US government involvement is nonsense." Almost as many, 45%, indicated they were more likely to agree "that so many unanswered questions about 9/11 remain that Congress or an International Tribunal should re-investigate the attacks, including whether any US government officials consciously allowed or helped facilitate their success."
The poll is the first survey that has attempted to gauge the level of Americans' doubts about 9/11 and was carried out for the "9/11: Revealing the Truth, Reclaiming Our Future" conference to be held in Chicago in June.
Not surprisingly, Republicans as a group were the most supportive of existing investigations, with 70% expressing their satisfaction -- about the same percentage that has expressed approval of Bush's performance in recent polls. Sixty-four percent of those earning over $75,000 were also skeptical of doubts about 9/11. The groups most likely to want the attacks re-investigated were Hispanics at 67% and African-Americans at 64%.
Other groups also skewed one way or another, but with the majority position generally not above 58%. Overall, the breakdown on the question closely followed the usual political divisions in the country: Republicans vs. Democrats and independents, whites vs. minorities, the wealthier and better-educated vs. the poorer and less educated, people over fifty vs. those under fifty, men vs. women.
This rough balance in opinions is itself a striking finding. It suggests that doubts about the officials accounts of 9/11, far from representing an extreme fringe position, have become a standard component of anti-establishment attitudes.
When asked specificially if they thought there had been a government coverup of evidence that contradicts the official story, the results were again not far from an even split, with 48% rejecting the idea of a deliberate coverup and 42% supporting it. Belief in a coverup was the majority position among Democrats, 18-29 year olds, and a few other groups.
In an attempt to focus more specifically on the attitudes of those who were best informed about the events of 9/11, the poll asked its responders if they were aware of WTC Building 7, whose collapse on September 11 for no obvious reason was not investigated by the 9/11 Commission. Only 52% answered that they were aware of the collapse of Building 7, but out of that subgroup, 73% believed it should have been investigated.
On a related topic, those polled were asked if they felt the Bush Administration had exploited the September 11th attacks to justify the invasion of Iraq or if Bush had been right to go into Iraq because Saddam Hussein supported terrorism. Here the country was divided exactly, 44% to 44%, with the answers following party lines more closely than those to the 9/11 questions. Among Republicans, 72% felt the invasion was appropriate, while among Democrats 69% felt it was not.
A final question asked about the media's performance regarding 9/11, including coverage of victims' families, unanswered questions, theories that challenged the official account, and how the attacks were investigated. A majority of 55% rated the media as only fair or poor, while only 33% rated it as good.
Surprisingly, the groups most likely to rate the media positively tended to be those that were also most skeptical about official accounts of 9/11, including African-Americans, progressives, and those with lower incomes. The media were rated poorly by roughly 60% of Republicans, conservatives, and the more affluent and better educated. Libertarians and extreme conservatives, at 74% and 67% respectively, were the most negative of all.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Vice President Cheney could be called to testify in the perjury case against his former chief of staff, a special prosecutor said in a court filing Wednesday.
Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald suggested Cheney would be a logical government witness because he could authenticate notes he jotted on a July 6, 2003, New York Times op-ed article by a former U.S. ambassador critical of the Iraq war.
I am back! Sorry, i was busy,. O.k. Waht's the deal... the previous posting has been blocked to make any comments...
Anon or whomever you are, you acting like a buffoon on the blog. You had your fun. A lot of the bloggers would like to make comments without feeling that this blog is being hijacked... And I know it is you Dr. Evil, Al Rodgers, etc. Start making some intelligent comments and quit trying to hijack this blog! We really don't give a hoot what party belong to or if you are ProBush or Anti-Bush or anyone else on this blog. You may not give a rat's ass about Fitz or myself or the leak case.. But, there are people that are concern about this case.. If you are man or woman of your words, you would stop with this nonsense before Fitz disables this posting!!!! Think before you post your next comment. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
SPB, without me this correction would probably never have been posted: I'm doing a public service.
WASHINGTON, May 24, 2006 — Ron Bonjean, communications director for Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., issued the following statement regarding the ABC World News Tonight story that aired this evening:
"The ABC News report is absolutely untrue. As confirmed by the Justice Department, 'Speaker Hastert is not under investigation by the Justice Department.' We are demanding a full retraction of the ABC News story. The Speaker's earlier statement issued today accurately reflects the facts regarding this matter."
"You may not give a rat's ass about Fitz or myself or the leak case.. But, there are people that are concern about this case.."
I'm very concerned that the truth gets out and not mere speculation. There is a lot of speculating going on around here. Bloggers were already convicting Hastert the moment the false ABC report came out. That is what I call knee jerk reactions and it brings into question your reliability.
spb, I'm not an attorney but wouldn't there have to be some actionable cause? That some actual law-not merely exercising one's First Amendment right-was violated? It seems to me that in the absence of an actual charge, there is no case.
-and on a related note:
These are the heroes of the severe right and our pox americana, our shame:
Sorry about my comment.. I only mention that to only Anon, Dr. Evil, or whomever... I hope that i didn't hurt your feeling by that.. But, the truth is that we are concerning about this blog and your case and Anon (Dr. Evil) may not care at all.. But, I do.. My words may have been strong but it was never meant to hurt anyone on this blog.. So, I hope that we can get pass this... And I do know that you are concerned.. But, I am sorry, Jan. I am a type of person that when a friend or a family member is in trouble, I fight back.. I am not going to give in to someone like Dr. Evil/Al!!! So, for now on, I will just ignore his comment and will not make any more comments to him.. this is Fitz' blog. and he can do what he wants with the blog. I will leave it up to him. But, this blog will be the way it is until everyone on this blog ignore Dr. Evil/Al's comments. It has to be a lare majority of bloggers and not just a few...
Anon/Al:
I knew it was you all along from your writings.. Be nice... This is last comment from me...
Thanks for the clarification.. I'm alright.. I know Fitz will be glad when this case is over.. He is going to need a vacation... Hopefully, when the announcement of the indictment of Rove and Cheney, soon, this blog will go back to normal...
SPB: If Fitz calls Darth Cheney to testify against little Libby, will that automatically change Darth Cheney's status from witness to subject or target? At what point does his status change?
What is going on here I leave and you guys are not being nice. If someone makes a derogatory comment I suggest we ignore it. We have to remember some want to keep correct information from coming out. It's well known that the corrupt team needs to distort the truth. I know these people are smart but boy do they act dumb. The sealed indictment means there is an indictment but not released to the public per the Judge. How stupid can people be. The lies used to confuss the public can't change that fact that there is a sealed indictment handed down by the Grand Jury. So please let's try to keep this blog respectfull to our interest in the CIA leak case. For those who just want to disrupt blog know this we are loyal supporters of truth and justice as Americans and we will continue to comment and support Patrick J. Fitzgerald and his team.
Here is the lastest article from Firedoglake from Christy. Here is an excerpt. she makes some key points:
Shuster: Is It Not If, But When?
"A big consideration for any prosecutor is whether a reasonable jury would find in the government’s favor at trial. You don’t bring a case that you know is a loser — at least not if you can help it. You either keep investigating until you nail the SOB, or you don’t bring the case. The public doesn’t need to have its time or its money wasted on a trial that is a loser from the start — sometimes, it is to the state’s advantage to press a difficult case, because the matter is that important or the stakes for the victim require it (it’s true for a lot of child sexual abuse cases, where you have the word of a small child against an adult, and the odds are rarely in your favor in those cases…but you bring them anyway because it is important to the community.) But where you have a choice, especially when you are dealing with a prosecution of a high level government official, that indictment needs to be solid and as airtight as you can make it.
"It’s just the way things are, and I’m certain that Fitz and his team are being very, very careful to keep mistakes or missteps to a minimum as much as possible. Scrutiny of the case – being certain that it is thorough and that Fitz and his team feel confident that they can win at trial – is certainly a consideration."
Looking forward to the events...what a LONG wait. Dr Evil, why do you hate Americans? What's wrong-did right-wing-nut nation ban you and now you are left with nowhere to vent? Some of us are interested in the case-so add to the discussion or go away. It's like a chess club-either you watch with good manners or you play. There is nothing in between. Good night all, looks like I missed an interesting news day.
I know, s-q. The thing is, to me, we have to impower, young poeple from day one that some poeple are bad. I know that's harsh. But it's the truth... u know- like some of the people on this blog. They would molest their own kin for money and then call them "tin foil hatters".
This 5th thing is a good point. I can totaly hear that in my head. " I can't speak of that. It would bring on nuclear attack from our enemy is I was to divulge our state secrets here in court." Then he would go on and on about the distuction and so forth.
The Wayne Madsen Report and the Chris Matthews Show have both floated the theory that Fitzgerald had secured indictments against Rove, but Gonzales --via McNulty-- came in at the last second and used his power as Fitzgerald's superior to kill the indictments.
IF, this theory is true, Fitzgerald would have likely challenged McNulty's decision in court, pointing to an earlier administrative directive from then acting Attorney General James Comey that gave Fitzerald the "authority of the Attorney General." Comey is long gone, however, and was replaced by McNulty. The question then becomes what, if any, value does Comey's administrative directive have today.
One unfortunate realty of this scenario is that if the judge sides with McNulty, we will never know what really happened, because it will remained sealed. Which, is one explanation about why Rove is acting so smug these days and why the White House has not pulled back his public schedule.
My country,' tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing; land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrims' pride, from every mountainside let freedom ring!
My native country, thee, land of the noble free, thy name I love; I love thy rocks and rills, thy woods and templed hills; my heart with rapture thrills, like that above.
Let music swell the breeze, and ring from all the trees sweet freedom's song; let mortal tongues awake; let all that breathe partake; let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.
Our fathers' God, to thee, author of liberty, to thee we sing; long may our land be bright with freedom's holy light; protect us by thy might, great God, our King.
I finally read about Dead Eye Dick testifying.. You slickster... You are getting Cheney to testify against the smurf so you can get Dead Eye Dick UNDER OATH... Cheney is going to crack when you cross-examined Cheney.. His packmaker may give out when you are finished with him.. Smart move, counselor.. You got Dead Eye Dick where you want him. Cheney may be a shrewd businessman but when you push this man's button, he will crack! Give him enough push and will commit perjury.. I can sleep good tonight... Good night!
I seen 'Dateline' s-q..sick damn pedophiles. Rabbi, firefighter, schoolteachers, doctor, military intelligence, NSA?--homeland, father that brought his toddler w/him, repeat offenders, youth counselor, naked man, on and on. That Rabbi got hostile, he sure didn't mind sending his naked pics across the web nor showing up to the house where the young teen was alone.
From big cities to a small rural town where they drove at least a hundred miles these pedophiles flocked, sick damn bastards. Justice needs to start at the very top of this country, for even the powerful, rich and 'righteous'. No one should get a free pass when it comes to preying on children or destroying their lives. Abused victims need help so they don't grow up thinking this kind of abuse is the standard "normal" way of life for everyone.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Speaker Dennis Hastert is demanding a "full retraction" of an ABC News report that he is being investigated in connection with the Jack Abramoff corruption probe.
The report Wednesday night prompted the Justice Department to take the highly unusual step of denying on the record that the Illinois Republican is the subject of a probe.
"Looks like everyone is STILL standing by the Hastert story...the anon was incorrect ..."
Not eveyone is standing by the Hastert Story, just ask the Justice Dept. Mark up another one for Anon. Faux Fitzgerald Bloggers got it wrong again by jumping to conclusions. You guys are premature litigators.
Justice Department says Hastert not under investigation BY ANDREW ZAJAC AND MIKE DORNING Chicago Tribune
WASHINGTON - In an unusually swift and blunt response to a news report, the Justice Department on Wednesday issued a statement denying an ABC News story that House Speaker Dennis Hastert was under investigation in the far-reaching Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal.
"Speaker Hastert is not under investigation by the Justice Department," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse, less than an hour after ABC News, citing "high-level Justice Department sources," reported that Hastert "is under investigation by the FBI" in connection with the Abramoff scandal.
U.S. Justice Department denies probe of House speaker
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Justice Department official denied a report on Wednesday that the speaker of the House of Representatives, Dennis Hastert, is under investigation by the FBI in connection with a corruption probe.
ABC News, citing unnamed Justice Department sources, reported that information implicating Hastert was developed from convicted lobbyists now cooperating with the government.
But a Justice Department official told Reuters: "The story is wrong. Hastert is not under investigation."
Hastert's spokesman Ron Bonjean demanded that the network retract the story, pointing out the Justice Department denial.
"The ABC News report is absolutely untrue. As confirmed by the Justice Department, 'Speaker Hastert is not under investigation by the Justice Department,'" Bonjean said in a statement. "We are demanding a full retraction of the ABC News story."
Libby Told Grand Jury Cheney Spoke of Plame Vice President May Be Called as Witness
By R. Jeffrey Smith Washington Post Staff Writer Thursday, May 25, 2006; Page A01
Vice President Cheney was personally angered by a former U.S. ambassador's newspaper column attacking a key rationale for the war in Iraq and repeatedly directed I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, then his chief of staff, to "get all the facts out" related to the critique, according to excerpts from Libby's 2004 grand jury testimony released late yesterday by Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald.
Libby also told the grand jury that Cheney raised as an issue that the former ambassador's wife worked at the CIA and that she allegedly played a role in sending him to investigate the Iraqi government's interest in acquiring nuclear weapons materials. That issue formed the basis of former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV's published critique.
In the court filing that included the formerly secret testimony, Fitzgerald did not assert that Cheney instructed Libby to tell reporters the name and role of Valerie Plame, Wilson's wife. But he said Cheney's interactions with Libby on that topic were a key part of the reason Libby allegedly made false statements to the FBI about his conversations with reporters around the time her name was disclosed in news accounts.
"The state of mind of the Vice President as communicated to defendant is directly relevant to the issue of whether defendant knowingly made false statements to federal agents and the grand jury regarding when and how he learned about Ms. Wilson's employment and what he said to reporters regarding this issue," he said.
The prosecutor also left open the possibility that Cheney will be called as a witness at Libby's trial, scheduled to begin next year, and denied an assertion last week by Libby's lawyers that Cheney would not be called......
An early laff..but in retrospect actually not that funny...kinda sad...'cuse the language..
May 24, 2006 08:48 PM / Capitol Hillbillies . Scandal-ridden Louisiana Democratic Congressman William Jefferson is pissed at the leader of his party in the House. So pissed he reportedly called Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi a "tight-assed honkie bitch." According to a House aide walking behind Jefferson while he was on a tirade about Pelosi asking him to step down from the House Ways & Means Committee because he got caught taking a $100,000 bribe from an FBI informant, Jefferson called Pelosi a "tight-a**** honkie bitch who should mind her own f****** business."
LOL. Usually the crooks are quite talented with profanities.
I was thinking about the Rep. Denny GRAFTstert news story this morning. I have noticed that in MSM news reports they do not mention that he is Republican. But every article I have seen on Jefferson mentions he is a Democrat. Do you think there is a memo circulating the media outlets - not to mention the word Republican alongside words like GRAFT, BIBERY, THEIVES, UNLAWFUL, ETC.?
Now for the record, I am an Independent voter. I know there are crooks on both sides of the aisle. But I have found this news reporting phenomenon very interesting.
FBI wants to meet with top House Members in NSA leak probe

Exceprts:
The FBI is seeking interviews with top House Members from both parties to determine whether they leaked details of the National Security Agency's domestic surveillance program to The New York Times, further fanning the flames of an already tense relationship between Capitol Hill and the Bush administration.
Those being targeted for interviews include GOP and Democratic leaders, as well as the chairmen and ranking member of the Intelligence committee. Altogether, 15 senior Members and Senators were briefed about the existence of the NSA program before the Times first disclosed it in a Dec. 16 article, according to briefing records released last week by John Negroponte, director of the Office of National Intelligence.

When asked about her knowledge of the FBI inquiry into lawmakers' contacts with the Times, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, would only say, "There is no credible claim that anyone in Congress leaked anything."
"So far as I know, there has been no request in writing," Harman added. "I urge the Justice Department to carefully consider separation-of-powers issues and the appearance of intimidation before proceeding any further."

OOoo, now this is where I can help. I'm an artist and I love lawyers. So, what color are your eyes?
You really should get to know me better. I'm really a nice guy but very opinionated.
See, Anon @ 9:00, I can help you pick out a tie :)
Jan, mostly hazel but they turn red when I see Hillary on TV. Doctor said there is no cure for that, it happens to him too.
Good Luck to Taylor Hicks.
He will be the next American Idol!
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert addressed a joint session of the US Congress and urged the international community to tackle Iran's nuclear bid.
"If we don't take Iran's bellicose rhetoric seriously now, we will be forced to take its nuclear aggressions seriously later," he said.
I am green-eyed too and I think Hillary is a sell out.... I would, for you, match your tie to you shirt. That way you don't distract the jury from you penetrating gaze. You don't want them think "I love the pattern of his tie".
Jan, I like being the center of attention so I want something flashy. What do you suggest?
Al Gore running for President again in '08 would be a gift from heaven for the Republicans.
Hmmmmm, see, I wouldn't go with flashy. I would go with tasteful. Fashy is just distacting. That doesn't mean it wouldn't cost a lot though. :)

Less than half of Americans satisfied with 9/11 investigations
RAW STORY
Published: Tuesday May 23, 2006
Print This | Email This
According to a new Zogby poll, less than half of Americans are convinced that that the events of September 11 have been thoroughly investigated, RAW STORY has learned.

Cheney will be called to testify.....
Fitz? Biloxi? You guys must be in court....
Cheney may be called in CIA leak case
By TONI LOCY
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Vice President Cheney could be called to testify in the perjury case against his former chief of staff, a special prosecutor said in a court filing Wednesday.
Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald suggested Cheney would be a logical government witness because he could authenticate notes he jotted on a July 6, 2003, New York Times op-ed article by a former U.S. ambassador critical of the Iraq war.
ChimpCoulter,
Why isn't that court filing on the "Office of Special Counsel" 's web site. ? Wouldn't he post it? Happy news, just asking.
Hello, everyone!
I love this Faux Blog, you get all the latest faux news.

Jan,
I imagine he will post it later as Roger said.
It's interesting to see things trickle out...
He's just here to try pick up women online anyway.
That's why he went all charming on Jan.
Dr. Ruth, I've always had the hots for you. What are you doing this Saturday night?
Al
What public service??
Honestly, you pathetic the Dennis Hastert investigation is true and has already been confirmed.
You have never done any kind of public service returnofdrevil2, Al Rogers, Dr. Evil, Dr. Ruth and whatever else your name is.
I have no idea why you are even here. But all I can say is for a fact, nobody wants to hear about it.
Move on or get on along for once.
Really, I don't think anyone likes closing topics or dealing with it.
SPB, how did you figure out it is me? Your old buddy, Al.
"You may not give a rat's ass about Fitz or myself or the leak case.."
You are wrong to say that, my friend. I am, indeed, very concerned.
My public service is called, "deception detection".
Al
leagal bar,
Yes, brother.
Al, I am free Saturday night and the first thing we shall do is remove those muliple corncobs from you. Ya?
Dr. Ruth,
Get off my My President.
Dr. Ruth, you are so cute. We will have a great time. Bring plenty of baby oil.
I think someone needs to pull out the duct tape.
hasta la manana...
spb, I'm not an attorney but wouldn't there have to be some actionable cause? That some actual law-not merely exercising one's First Amendment right-was violated? It seems to me that in the absence of an actual charge, there is no case.
-and on a related note:
These are the heroes of the severe right and our pox americana, our shame:
http://www.light-to-dark.com/americas_shame.html
Jan mine leibschen, Al Rogers is not your President. Nein.
Al, I will be very forceful and you submissive. Ya?
Anonymous 10:43,
What are you saying?
Jan,
Sorry about my comment..
Roger, would you like to tag along with Dr. Ruth and myself? Sounds like you need a night out. Dr. Ruth, bring the extra large bottle of baby oil.
With Love,
Al
Ruth,
Oops's :} My bad.
Roger,
Are you serious? Dr. Evil is trying to get Fisher killed?
SPB,
I was talking to Anonymous@10:29.
I know you and me are tight. :)
OH, what a tangled web we weave.
Anon at 10:43 pm:
I am not sure about your question to me. Could you elaborate for me?? Thanks!!! BTW, nice picture and so true...
SPB,
I wish to smote the Dr. Evil with my lace covered sword of TRUTH! :}
Jan, I've never been smoted before. Does it hurt?
Jan:
Youa re wasting your time! Roger is correct to IGNORE Dr. Evil.
O.k. Jan!
Thanks for the clarification.. I'm alright.. I know Fitz will be glad when this case is over.. He is going to need a vacation... Hopefully, when the announcement of the indictment of Rove and Cheney, soon, this blog will go back to normal...
SPB,
GOOD!
And, as you wish. I shall ignore.
Nein Al, no threesomes. I am no freak and I don't surmise Roger Rancourt would want a little Jewish girl like me anyway. Ya?
Darn, how about you Dr. Ruth? Do we still have a date for Saturday? I think Roger will be a no show.
later,
Al
SPB:
If Fitz calls Darth Cheney to testify against little Libby, will that automatically change Darth Cheney's status from witness to subject or target? At what point does his status change?
Viagra Pen Company, ?. ?, This musta happened while I was working.
Yes, at what point?
Because once he testifies, he is incriminating himself, correct?
I have been so nice, Jackie!
Final posting:
Here is the lastest article from Firedoglake from Christy. Here is an excerpt. she makes some key points:
Shuster: Is It Not If, But When?
"A big consideration for any prosecutor is whether a reasonable jury would find in the government’s favor at trial. You don’t bring a case that you know is a loser — at least not if you can help it. You either keep investigating until you nail the SOB, or you don’t bring the case. The public doesn’t need to have its time or its money wasted on a trial that is a loser from the start — sometimes, it is to the state’s advantage to press a difficult case, because the matter is that important or the stakes for the victim require it (it’s true for a lot of child sexual abuse cases, where you have the word of a small child against an adult, and the odds are rarely in your favor in those cases…but you bring them anyway because it is important to the community.)
But where you have a choice, especially when you are dealing with a prosecution of a high level government official, that indictment needs to be solid and as airtight as you can make it.

Having a good evening folks! Signing off!!!
We do Al. Meet me at the Proctology Conspirators of Zions' convention on Saturday in Tel Aviv. Danke.
I just watched "Dateline" and they caught 88 online perverts in 9 days!! Did anyone else see that program?
I'm sorry Jackie, you're right.
s-q,
I am all too familiar with that.
These guys were teachers, priests, rabbis, doctors, etc. All meeting with what they thought were boys & girls under 15 yrs old, for sex!!
Sick SOB's!!
See it? Hell, I wuz on it!
What Jan?
I'm off to slumber. Night all.
Sorry s-q. Waht do you mean, what? I saw the program. And, all to familiar with that seedy side. They are every where.
She means she's under 15, I knowed it. Or uh Rabbi.
I know they are everywhere Jan but it just pisses me off to know they are out there and some are getting away with this shit!
Shut up, slingscandal... sorry Jackie.
Good night. Be nice to each other!
I know, s-q. The thing is, to me, we have to impower, young poeple from day one that some poeple are bad. I know that's harsh. But it's the truth... u know- like some of the people on this blog. They would molest their own kin for money and then call them "tin foil hatters".
Hmm..I would think that Libby will now sing a whole new different tune!
Exactly Jan! I think our youth needs more education and/or counseling on this subject.
Thank you for your understanding...
This 5th thing is a good point. I can totaly hear that in my head. " I can't speak of that. It would bring on nuclear attack from our enemy is I was to divulge our state secrets here in court." Then he would go on and on about the distuction and so forth.
My wine content shos in my text. I must retire. Good night to all the good Americans :)
I think Libby would be smart now to start singing the whole song! :)
What say you to this:
From DailyKos:
I actually asked the question to settle a debate where I am now.
I thought that was the case but was not sure due to the nature of the investigation and what it involved.
This isn't an ordinary situation.
Thanks for the input CP.
Perhaps Libby should sing this song:
"AMERICA"
My country,' tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims' pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring!
My native country, thee,
land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
thy woods and templed hills;
my heart with rapture thrills, like that above.
Let music swell the breeze,
and ring from all the trees sweet freedom's song;
let mortal tongues awake;
let all that breathe partake;
let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.
Our fathers' God, to thee,
author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright
with freedom's holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King.
I would wager that the first can not be over road.
11:46, Interesting but Rancourt will discredit your story because you are Jewish.
SPB:
I apologize for my questions earlier, I now remember you are under a gag order and can't comment on that. :)
Looks like everyone is STILL standing by the Hastert story...the anon was incorrect
http://www.rawstory.com/
Fitz,
I finally read about Dead Eye Dick testifying.. Good night!
Cheers!!
Kudos to 'Dateline' for getting something right.

Justice Department says Hastert not under investigation
BY ANDREW ZAJAC AND MIKE DORNING
Chicago Tribune
Libby Told Grand Jury Cheney Spoke of Plame
Vice President May Be Called as Witness
By R. Jeffrey Smith
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, May 25, 2006; Page A01
Vice President Cheney was personally angered by a former U.S. ambassador's newspaper column attacking a key rationale for the war in Iraq and repeatedly directed I.

According to a House aide walking behind Jefferson while he was on a tirade about Pelosi asking him to step down from the House Ways & Means Committee because he got caught taking a $100,000 bribe from an FBI informant, Jefferson called Pelosi a "tight-a**** honkie bitch who should mind her own f****** business."

Good Morning Jan, cjt and all,
How old is that picture of him there? LOL! Must be from the days when he first took office and introduced legislation to take the ban off of DDT!
Did you click on the video?
Video is the funny part!
I just sent an email to Delay's Trust Administrator:
"I would not send a penny to this crook."
Now I know they are listening to my phone calls.
ChimpCoulter,
hehehe hehehehe
No video yet but I will now. Maybe I better wait for this coffee to settle first, thinking of my keyboard .
Consider the possibilty that Justice killed that Hastert story just as some say they may have with the Rove indictment fiasco.
that's a very scary thought cjt, but still very possible -- I hope not.

FBI wants to meet with top House Members in NSA leak probe

The Federal Bureau of Investigation wants to interview leaders from both parties in the House of Representatives over leaks of information related the the National Security Agency's domestic surveillance activities today's edition of ROLL CALL reports.
The registration restricted article may be read here.
#
#
When asked about her knowledge of the FBI inquiry into lawmakers' contacts with the Times, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, would only say, "There is no credible claim that anyone in Congress leaked anything."
"So far as I know, there has been no request in writing," Harman added. "I urge the Justice Department to carefully consider separation-of-powers issues and the appearance of intimidation before proceeding any further."
