Operation Global Con...

A smashing success! The AG earns this headline.
U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez thanked his counterparts and police forces abroad for their "co-operation as we fight for con-sumers everywhere."

Gonzalez expressed his gratitude to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Costa Rica attorney general's office, the Costa Rica Judicial Investigation Organization, the Amsterdam police, the Dutch public prosecutor, the Competition Bureau of Industry Canada, Phone Busters (the Canadian Anti-Fraud Call Centre), as well as six joint U.S.-Canadian task forces across Canada and all the others who helped him get his money refunded.
Bully!

And what does Gonzo want from us a biscuit for bringing down the evil doers in that global scam??? I agree to what chimpcoulter said. Gonzo should be trying to prosecute the Gerbil amd company who have been running a scam in the WH and scamming the American people out of millions on a war on false pretenses. Also, Gonzo should prosecute himself first since he lied (not under oath) on the domestic spying and withholding those emails for the leak case.. Sorry Gonzo.. No cigar from me.. Great you prosecuted the people involved in the global scam but you should be going after your boss!!

Iran test-fires long-range missile

Iran conducted a test launch Tuesday night of the Shihab-3 intermediate-range ballistic missile, which is capable of reaching Israel and US targets in the region, Israel Radio reported. The test came hours before Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with US President George W Bush in Washington to discuss the Iranian threat.
Military officials said it was not clear if this most recent test indicated an advance in the capabilities of the Shihab 3. They said the test was likely timed to coincide with the Washington summit and with comments made by Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah during celebrations in Beirut marking the 6th anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon.

"What deters the enemy from launching an aggression is the resistance's continuous readiness to respond," Nasrallah told scores of supporters. "Northern Israel today is within the range of the resistance's rockets. The ports, bases, factories and everything is within that range."
The Shihab test was only "partly successful," according to news reports. The nature of the difficulties was not clear. The Iranians have been working to extend the Shihab 3's current maximum range of 1,300 kilometers. A year ago, they successfully tested a solid fuel motor for the missile.
In December, Israel's defense against an Iranian ballistic missile strike, the Arrow 2 missile system, succeeded in intercepting an incoming rocket simulating an Iranian Shihab 3 at an altitude higher than in the previous 13 exercises.
Maj. Elyakim, commander of the Arrow missile battery at Palmahim, told The Jerusalem Post last month that the missile crews were always on high alert, but that they were recently instructed to "raise their level of awareness" because of developments on the Iranian front.
The Arrow missile, he said, could intercept and destroy any Iranian missile fired at Israel, including ones carrying non-conventional warheads. Experts believe that if Iran is attacked by Israel or the US, Teheran would respond by firing long-range ballistic missiles at Israel.

Here is the information:

"The prosecution kicked off the trial of David Safavian this morning with their opening statement. Justin will be checking in a little later with his account of what he saw, but here's a little taste from the AP. It will certainly not be the last time that golf comes up in this trial:
At the start of the first trial in the Abramoff influence peddling scandal, prosecutor Peter Zeidenberg told a jury that David Safavian provided substantial amounts of information about government-controlled properties that the lobbyist wanted for himself or his clients.
Using his official position, Safavian "worked first and foremost for a rich, powerful" lobbyist and personal friend and then he "lied and concealed in order to keep the truth from the public," Zeidenberg told the jury of 10 women and two men.
Abramoff "constantly dangled" the prospect that Safavian could return to the private sector and join Abramoff's lobbying operation, "where he would make a great deal of money and he would play a great deal of golf," Zeidenberg told the jury."

From the AP:

Defense says case against Safavian weak

"WASHINGTON --Prosecutors alleged Wednesday that the former White House procurement chief, David Safavian, gave away his office to Jack Abramoff. The official's lawyer said he was prosecuted simply because he was friends with the convicted lobbyist."

On a personal note: I was very young and in grade school when Watergate happened. My parents thought I was nutso because I came home every afternoon for lunch and watched the Congressional hearings. I knew it was history in the making; it's too sad that it is repeating itself again. But of course, Dumbya and his regime make the Watergate gang look like boy scouts.

ChimpCoulter says: "Dumbya and his regime make the Watergate gang look like boy scouts."

Well, King Gerbil, CEO of the Stupidity.org, found the Nixon playbook in the trash while he was yearning for the bottle, dust it off, and said to himself: "hey, if this worked for Tricky Dick, it can work for my two term stolen Presidency." And boy scouts.. you are right... With corruption and graft added to Hookergate plus hookers and "brokeback" moments, I wouldn't be surprised of the makers and investors of Viagra are not in this money deal with Cunningham, Wilkes, and the rest of the gang... But, history had repeated itself.. Same playbook but different era...

Well, if the makers and investors of Viagra can get into the money deal with the crooks, surely the company can give free supplies to Cunningham, Wilkes and gang for their "pleasure". So business is business and a win win deal with all of them...

In other news and not surprised by this article:

From Raw Story:

Republicans, incumbents receive large majority of oil lobby cash

"Republican incumbents are far more likely than their colleagues in Congress to receive oil company money, RAW STORY has learned.
Eighty four percent of the $8.6 million oil and gas companies have contributed to the 2006 elections has gone to Republicans, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
According to data compiled by the Center, the top 20 recipients of oil money in Congress are all Republicans.
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX,) tops the list with $159,611 in oil company contributions this cycle. Rick Santorum (R-PA), whose campaign coffers made waves on the blogosphere yesterday, comes in at number 2, trailing Hutchison by nearly $40,000. At the bottom of the top 20 list is Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), who pulled in just $48,500 from the industry.
Incumbency also seems to be a major factor in determining who will receive oil company backing. $4.8 of the $5.3 million doled out by the oil industry this election was given to candidates already holding office.
Six of the top ten Senate recipients of oil and gas industry contributions this campaign cycle are facing what some believe to be competitive races for re-election."

From BusinessWeek Online:

Intelligence Czar Can Waive SEC Rules
Now, the White House's top spymaster can cite national security to exempt businesses from reporting requirements

President George W. Bush has bestowed on his intelligence czar, John Negroponte, broad authority, in the name of national security, to excuse publicly traded companies from their usual accounting and securities-disclosure obligations. Notice of the development came in a brief entry in the Federal Register, dated May 5, 2006, that was opaque to the untrained eye.

Unbeknownst to almost all of Washington and the financial world, Bush and every other President since Jimmy Carter have had the authority to exempt companies working on certain top-secret defense projects from portions of the 1934 Securities Exchange Act. Administration officials told BusinessWeek that they believe this is the first time a President has ever delegated the authority to someone outside the Oval Office. It couldn't be immediately determined whether any company has received a waiver under this provision.

The timing of Bush's move is intriguing. On the same day the President signed the memo, Porter Goss resigned as director of the Central Intelligence Agency amid criticism of ineffectiveness and poor morale at the agency. Only six days later, on May 11, USA Today reported that the National Security Agency had obtained millions of calling records of ordinary citizens provided by three major U.S. phone companies. Negroponte oversees both the CIA and NSA in his role as the administration's top intelligence official.

As I mentioned before, The Gerbil has certain key people in place for his blueprint plan... When Fitzgerald indict Dead Eye Dick and the Gerbol is exposed for what he is really is, all hell is going to break loose in this country about this Administration.. "And of course Big Oil will be protected as they supply oil to the military. And let's not forget Halliburton." Yup,the whole ball of wax... As I said, all in the name of BUSINESS.

Ummm.. Interesting strategy by the Smurf's attorneys that I was reading on Truthout.org regarding May 12 filing:

"To help counter that contention, Libby's lawyers, in their May 12 court filing, identify former CIA spokesman Bill Harlow as a potential witness in the case, saying he was the government official who disclosed Plame's "employment status," probably in June 2003, to Cheney spokeswoman Cathie Martin, who then passed it on to Libby."

"Mr. Harlow may be called to testify about that conversation and about whether he told her that such information was secret," Libby's attorneys wrote in their filing. "Such testimony would support defense's contention that Ms. Martin did not tell Mr. Libby that Ms. Wilson's employment at the CIA was classified, which would help the defense to contest the government's argument that Mr. Libby should have known such information was classified," they wrote.

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052206E.shtml

The more I read on the smurf's strategy the more stupid that he gets.. Doesn't the smurf gets it or does he have to be knocked over with a coconut to figure it out?? Of course, Catherine Martin, assistant to Cheney knew about the Plame's identity and some of the top officials directly or indirectly involved in this leak case knew Plame's identity, but who leaked Plame's identity to the reporters???: the nimrod smurf himself!!! He still doesn't undetand that the smurf lied to the investigators.. Still pointing fingers but not accepting responsibility.. Boy, the smurf's attorneys are sure as hell getting "sucker" legal fees from Tiny Tim...

Imagine, one-hundred-million Americans, who refuse to buy any non-essentials for a month. Its like forming an American Peoples Union.

But first, freeze all corporate offshore accounts, and certainly use the U.N. as both clarion and possible enforcer.

There'd be a sea of red ink. Then, maybe, the People might talk.
