Stephen Colbert and newly elected Rep. John Hall sing a two part harmony of our national anthem...goosebumps...or as they say in Hawaii "chicken skin."
Colbert continually finds ways to elicit belly laughs from me, this episode being one of them. There are too many to list but the duet with Barely Manenuff (Manilow) and kisses from Jane Fonda come in second and third respectively. Colbert rules.
I tell my litle girls a man that can make you laugh is the best...
And as for the National Anthem, I occasionally get goosebumps when I hear it, in small town parades in the middle of nowhere with bagpipes ringing in the background, like where I live, and the last time I heard it like that was in July and I cried.
I whispered and whispered a plea to get our country back.
And I got the goosebumps again in a great way, because the people all said the same thing, I can obviously presume... we all wanted our country back!

On his death bed in AD211, Roman emperor Septimius Severus warned his successor and future emperors: "Keep the soldiers happy." Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush not only did not keep the soldiers in body armour and out of reckless escapades, but the soldiers on active duty in the military as well as the National Guard reserves - and their families and neighbours and retired veterans - may in fact have helped breathe new life into America's diminished and now revived system of checks and balances in government.
The military and the people may have just restored the republic.
What wonderful sentiments maureen & e on the earlier thread. I also felt the angst, anger and frustration during the past six years...I've never been so worried about our country's safety and our freedoms...and many a day I felt alone because my anger and passion seemed over-the-top to the mainstream so I thought...
That is what brought me to blogging...it was simply for therapy and to keep me from negativity...but what I found in blogging where kindred spirits...I was not alone...hallelujah!!! It was an epiphany...
I have thanked Fitzie before for this blog because it felt like home very early on when I started reading, but not yet posting...today, I thank my fellow bloggers because it was you who held me up when reality seemed to be slapping me in the face...
So today I have a big smile on my face, Jackie & JBs!
It was good to see the reaction from around the world as our election results came in. Cheers that Rummy is gone and Cheers that Bush got smacked down. America won Nov. 7th. The journalist who got paid by the GOP will have to suck up to the new power are leave. Chris Matthews must be still crying as O'Reilly has gone mad and insane. Bush/Cheney/Rummy once the might Oak Tree now just a nut.
Toto was last seen trying to sniff out the truth and looking for that justice bone. He was sporting a nice new handsome blue sweater though. ================================= Teak:
We still have to keep the Dems feet to the fire in regard to selling America out to K street Lobbiest. We cannot go back to business as usual. CANNOT. We have to take our country and government back, we cannot have our government a wholly owned subsidiary of corporate America. They make the wrong choices, always. We are going to have to insist on it.

- I grew up in Flatbush, kept my nose clean, went to law school. Now that I am in Chicago and D.C. I have found that the rampant graft and corruption to be a travesty - a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham.

America is awesome and yes, "Colbert rules"!
Hooray!
Good Morning JB's
They were really good! I had no idea Colbert could sing-harmony at that. That takes talent, take it from this former choir girl and band geek;-)
Agreed Maureen, what a smart thing to tell your daughters.

We will not have our country back until all lobbyists, PACs, and think tanks are driven out of our business and their personal agendas.
The lies and cover-ups must be revealed in this country or it is the same old, same old. Our troops have died for lies long enough.
Happy Friday Justice Bloggers! :)
It has been a heckuva week! What a great feeling, knowing that our country has just done a 360 degree turn in a new direction! :D

It's going to be nice to know we have a Congressman who knows the entire first verse of the National Anthem.
