Yet another Republican embroiled in the Foley scandal has said that he'd spoken to Speaker Hastert about the Foley emails before they were made public -- only to quickly retract the statement. In that, Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-LA) follows the example of Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), who's flipped twice in his description of a discussion with Hastert about the emails.

Attorney Jim Fennerty of Chicago said Anderson will be interviewed by military investigators, given a uniform and assigned to a barracks while his case is processed. In three to five days, he will be given a discharge of other than honorable. At that point, he should be free from his military commitment and face no other charges, Fennerty said.
"He's not a criminal," Fennerty said.
As Anderson left the news conference, World War II veteran Les Powers confronted him, and shouted: "They should have shot you."
Powers said Anderson abandoned his military commitment and should face a court martial, not receive a deal that lets him out of the Army.
"He's a deserter. He's a coward," Powers said after Anderson was gone. "He should be given a dishonorable discharge."

And that is a hint for his boss Reynolds.. The chief of staff knows what is coming. It was resigned. It was bailing out because the stuff is about to hit the fan. I have a feeling that Reynolds will be heading out of the door if there are more noise for him to get the boot.

Ashcroft Warned Pre-9/11
In an interview with the New York Times Monday, former Attorney General John Ashcroft said he was never briefed in early July 2001 by then-CIA Director George Tenet about a purported terrorist threat against the United States by al-Qaeda the spy agency had received.
"Frankly, I'm disappointed that I didn't get that kind of briefing," Ashcroft told the Times. "I'm surprised he didn't think it was important enough to come by and tell me."
But Ashcroft was not being forthcoming. He was in fact warned about the possibility of a terrorist attack two months before 9/11 and told by his top officials in July 2001 to avoid traveling aboard commercial airliners because the FBI had received a credible "threat assessment" against the United States.
Indeed, on July 26, 2001, ten days after Tenet met with then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice to brief her about intelligence the CIA had obtained involving al-Qaeda's determination to strike the United States, CBS News reported that Ashcroft was traveling aboard a chartered government jet - which was considered highly unusual - to spend a weekend in Missouri fishing.
"In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a 'threat assessment' by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term," CBS reported.

The complaint about Foley was brought to the chairman of the page board, Congressman John Shimkus (R-IL), last spring, and he then consulted with the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Jeff Trandahl.
