"Dozens of foreign student pilots with questionable visas have been able to slip between the cracks and gain entry to American flight schools, federal officials tell ABC News.
The FAA says it is conducting an investigation of a number of flight instructors and schools, including one school which was attended by 9-11 hijackers Mohammed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi.
An internal Homeland Security document obtained by ABC News, says the post 9-11 program to prevent terrorists from entering US flight schools has been marked by "confusion and misinterpretations."

An equally perplexing lead involved a US Navy Lieutenant, Delmart "Mike" Vreeland, who was in a Toronto jail on US fraud charges at the time. Vreeland claimed to be an officer in US Naval intelligence. The Navy initially denied that, claiming that Vreeland never worked in intelligence and was discharged as a seaman in 1986 for unsatisfactory performance. In any case, Vreeland reportedly wrote down some details about a planned attack on the World Trade Center in early August, placed his notes in a sealed envelope, and handed it over to the Canadian authorities. Three days after 9/11, they opened the envelope and discovered that Vreeland's description was correct.

Murder case

The local police conducted a cursory search of the house but did not find any obvious signs of a break-in or forced entry. The note suggested that the ransom collection would be monitored and JonBenét would be returned as soon as the money was obtained."
