In my opinion the patterns that are being revealed in the Page Progam "of not wanting to tell someone for fear of repraisals in future careers" speaks volumes and
creates the very atmosphere for graft, corruption, and blackmailed legislation.
They are there by the mere focus of wealthy families donating money and gaining favors
It is time for this program to be abolished and create one that includes all american children regarless of their station in life.

Ask yourself why does Frist all of a sudden want to turn Afganistan over to the "evil" Taliban? Do we need the soldiers to go fight a war in Iran soon, like before the elections...

Boehner Flips -- Again, Re-Blames Hastert
By Paul Kiel - October 3, 2006, 10:50 AM

Top Republicans are pointing the finger at Speaker Dennis Hastert for not doing more after learning of solicitous emails sent from Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) to a Congressional page.

Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) this morning switched his position on the leader's culpability, telling a radio interviewer, "I believe I talked to the Speaker and he told me it had been taken care of."

On Saturday, Boehner had denied speaking to Hastert about Foley this spring -- after initially telling The Washington Post that he had.

Rep. Tom Reynolds (R-NY), head of the House GOP's political arm, the National Republican Congressional Committee, has also implicated Hastert. "I did what most people would do in a workplace," Reynolds said at a press conference last night, “I heard something, I took it to my supervisor.”

From the AP today about North Korea:

"North Korea said Tuesday it will conduct a nuclear test in the face of what it claimed was "the U.S. extreme threat of a nuclear war," ratcheting up tensions amid international pressure to return to negotiations on its atomic program.

The United States warned a North Korean nuclear test "would pose an unacceptable threat to peace and stability." South Korea raised its security level, and Japan promised a severe response if the threat was carried out.

The statement from Pyongyang gave no precise date for a test, but the prospect that North Korea could soon take a major step forward in its nuclear weapons development triggered alarm and condemnation in foreign capitals, including Russia and the European Union. North Korea has a recent history of making provocative statements while refraining from an all-out confrontation with its chief enemy, the United States."

I've heard that Russian tanks, never seen before with awesome technology gave the Israeli soldiers quite the surprise in Lebanon.

Olmert, Blair and Bush should be careful, they may not have as much power as they think they do...are U.S. citizens (now finally coming out of their stupor) going to take the hit for a man who doesn't take responsibility for his OWN actions, and have already ordered hundreds of thousands killed? Enough of selling souls to the Devil.

FYI, is Rumsfeld wanting to attack Chevez now? Reported yesterday.

Rice didn't 'brush off' terror warnings

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (CNN) -- In July 2001, then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice did have a meeting with CIA Director George Tenet about the threat posed by al Qaeda, but the information presented to her was not new, her spokesman said Monday.

A new book by Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward says Tenet and Cofer Black, then the U.S. counterterrorism chief, demanded a snap meeting with Rice to warn her of a growing al Qaeda threat to U.S. interests and possibly the U.S. homeland. The meeting took place July 10, 2001, two months before al Qaeda suicide hijackers attacked New York and Washington, killing nearly 3,000 people.

The Foley scandal is going to occupy the press for a while. It is the October surprise the democrats needed and now the republicans need a bigger surprise to counter balance it.

What would the republicans' surprise be? Would their hand be forced? Would the attack on Iran, which is reportedly planned, become inevitable?

I am a cynic. With all due respect to the work Patrick Fitzgerald is doing, I regard all leaks that implicate those in government, elected or appointed, as the result of a power struggle within its branches.

A clear example would be the Valerie Plame leak case; if it were not for a CIA complaint, the case would not have existed. One branch of government complaining about another!

The information to be selectively leaked is gingerly protected in their little bag of tricks to spring on us, the public, at the appropriate time. The public is never engaged in a democracy but duped into two fanatic camps at a football game cheering and jeering a game that is fixed.

If the power struggle of the old days were between democracts and republicans, it is no longer the case. Today, it is way more serious than that, a lot more is at stake; it is between the old guards of the republican party and the neocons and what is at stake is the arena where the football game is played, i.e. our so called democracy.

Little scandals are allowed to happen, and I am not dismissing the gravity of what Foley did, while the larger scandals, those that might jar the public out of their trance and make them realize that there is no true democracy and that they are only allowed the cheap seats, will never become public.

At one point in our history, one was allowed to surface, the Water Gate scandal, and we thought the reforms that followed safeguarded our democracy and we let our guards down.

It is time we learned that democracy never survives without the ever-vigilant eye of a committed citizenry.

Information with implications that eclipse those of Water Gate is what the public needs and such information exits and was supplied through Randall Samborn to Patrick Fitzgerald’s office.

In my last communication with Mr. Samborn I said: “The investigation is complete, the attachment is the final draft of the article. As officers of the court who have made an oath to protect the constitution, I should expect that you guys would act but you know I am not holding my breath. Filing it away and having it on record is probably the most I can expect.”

I was not born yesterday and I am not naïve. I did not expect Mr. Fitzpatrick to act on the information but I knew he would do what the law requires of him. Send a copy of the material to the DoJ.

The article I mention was published on Counterpunch “Osama’s Confession; Osama’s Reprieve”. The article implicates many in the Bush administration in the crime of dereliction of duty at a minimum, high treason and high crime against humanity are the other options.

The response of the FBI to a Freedom of Information Act request relating to the Bin Laden confessional tape, the topic of the article, is the following: “The material you requested is located in an investigative file which is exempt from disclosure…”

If such an investigation was launched based on the information I shared with Patrick Fitzgerald, such an investigation should have been complete within 4 to 6 weeks. My first contact with Fitzgerald’s office was on November 9, 2005, almost a year ago, and my last contact was on June 3, 2006, a little more than three months ago.

This information will never make it into the bag of tricks of either republicans or democrats. Recapturing out democracy is not an option; we are to remain the occupants of the cheap seats.

I reached out to Mr. Fitzgerald not only because he is an officer of the court but also because he had the notoriety and protection to carry out such a serious task.

OMG...New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote

"Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.

ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18....

The exchange continues in which Foley and the teen both appear to describe having sexual orgasms.

Maf54: ok..i better go vote..did you know you would have this effect on me
Teen: lol I guessed
Teen: ya go vote…I don't want to keep you from doing our job
Maf54: can I have a good kiss goodnight
Teen: :-*
Teen: [kiss]

The House voted that evening on HR 1559, Emergency War Time supplemental appropriations.

(And another IM)

Maf54: ok
Teen: I probably shouldn't be telling you that huh

Foley knew waht underage boys to prey on. And the Page Program are certainly not for a boy in a underpriviledge neighborhood. These pages come from a very good neighborhoods and backgrounds. Mainly wealthy. This is why there is such an uproar among people. Ruben Hurricane Carter, a former boxer and who was charged with a triple murder in Patterson, NJ. in 1968 and spent 22 years in jail for a crime that he never committed, explain in his biography how a prominent elected official was known to prey on little black boys in the neighborhood. He used his title and position and preyed on little boys and the officials looked the other way. So, elected officials like Foley have been around collecting a paycheck and using their position to prey on children. But, Foley's case has become a big deal since for the past 5 years, the Gerbil and company and the GOP have ran their campaign on family values and faith. And I notice that I haven't heard from the corporations that supported Foley. Of course, I don't some of the corporation are not too happy to support a congressman that preyed on underage boys. I think some of the executives in those corporation are thinking about their own kids. But, Foleygate makes people really worry about programs such as the Page program and other kids programs funded by the government out of fear that the government are not looking out for the chidren and their welfare. From Foleygate, corrupted Congress and government put themselves first before the children's welfare: all in the name of money!
