Here's a good one from Americablog:

"Overly friendly," Republican House Speaker Hastert called Mark Foley's creepy emails in his letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

Overly friendly? Overly friendly is Harriet Miers' gushing letters to George Bush.

When a 52 year old man emails a 16 year old boy to tell him that he thinks his 16 year old friend is hot, that's not overly friendly. That's disgusting. Especially when both boys were away from their parents and in a mentoring relationship with the not-so-secret admirer.

Professionally speaking-Foley's alcoholism should be dealt with as a "co-existing" problem- separate from his pedophilia. I hope the courts remember this!

I can't imagine the parents dropping it either, I would have been on his doorstep-with the cops. What kind of fathers are Bohner and Hastert? Wonder how willing they would be to sweep it under the rug with their kids.

Or is being a perv required to move up in the ranks with that crowd

Hastert Removes Cyberporn Press Release -- But You Can Read It Here

Over at TPM, Josh needled House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) for an Aug. 29 press release about Hastert's efforts to "keep kids safe in cyberspace." August 29, of course, is months after Hastert is said to have learned of Foley's indiscretions.

Well, today Hastert's office appears to have removed the press release. It had been prominent on his Web site's front page until this morning.

For history's sake, we've rescued a copy of the press release from an online database and posted it. Full text of the release below the jump.

I think that there should be a special memory loss prosecutor on this Gillgan gate scandal in the WH! LOL!

Nice try Shug! You will get caught in your lies like the rest of the Gerbil Administration!

This memory loss crapola spin by Shug is really getting old. And this tells you how weak the Gerbil Administration is now. The GOP party is falling apart, the graft politicans are coming out of the woodwork and getting caught, perverts, sex slave masters, and hookergate parties from the GOP party are coming out of the woodwork and so on.. Yup, S-Q!

And they are not different than the criminals behind bars. You can suit up the pedophiles and criminals in jail and put them in office. Makes no difference from the staff members in the Gerbil Administration and the elected officials. What bothers me is the mockery that this Administration is doing to the judicial systems and its principles in this country.

Now that deep republican ultra- sociopathology has become rampant-if not the defining party characteristic-will we see another ideological slave like Starr appear? The Republicans only wish they had a Clintonesque problem.

Now, it's blanket party amnesia and blathering Fox spin. That's the best they can do for an October surprise?

Maf54: dunno what
Teen: hmmm I have the feeling that you are fishing here…im not sure what I would be comfortable with…well see

This doesn't sound like a person who needs to check in a rehab because of being a pervert! Fingers Foley was pursuing this kid! Now if the GOP wants to support Foley sick excuse of a going into a rehab, then send a message to all of the drug addicts, sex addicts, and pot smoking politicans that it is okay to check in a rehab as an excuse. Who else is next on the list on the pervertgate scandal???

Now that Connie has got the Libby illness I think that should be put in the medical records as something all criminals can use in their defense. Bush has that drinking problem so his is more serious but the White House and elected Officials now have the world class Libby defense of memory lost except when it comes to getting money these people can count and remember that. Ask Jack Abramoff.

BOCA RATON, Fla. - A teen engineering prodigy who gained national attention in 2002 when he and his family received identification chip implants on live television was killed in a motorcycle accident, authorities said.

Derek Jacobs, 18, lost control of his motorcycle early Saturday and crashed into a guardrail and a pole, the Palm Beach County sheriff's office said. He was wearing a helmet.

"It was just a crazy accident of a bump or something, and he was catapulted," said his mother, Leslie Jacobs. "He had, of course, potential, because he was brilliant, and he was just a wonderful son. He wanted to make a difference in the world."

Derek was set to get his engineering degree this year after only two years at Florida International University. He wanted to be a neurosurgeon, his mother said.

Human beings have no business being "chipped".

"That teen said, "we drink"...so, was Foley providing alcohol to those minors?? Hmmm...another question for those kids involved!!"

I am assuming that email was a continuing conversation between Foley and the teen. But, whether the teenager was providing the drinks or not, the bottom line Foley is pursuing a minor which is illegal. Foley broke the law. But, the language with the teen near the end of the email sounded like the teen was very uncomfortable with Foley's comments. And it sound like "eat, drink, and hang out at night" sounds like verbiage of a teen especially with their buddies.. Usually a predator will use drink or booze to entice and lure a teen.

National-Center-for-Missing-&-038-
Exploited-Children-rethink-statement
-on-Foley-kind-of

Last night on their News and Events page, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children had placed this statement:

Congressman Mark Foley's resignation is a great loss to Florida and the nation. He has been a hard-working, dedicated and effective Congressman. He will be missed.

Now they have:

Congressman Mark Foley’s resignation is a loss to Florida and the nation. He has been a hard-working, dedicated and effective Congressman.

So Foley is no longer a "great loss", he's just a loss. And he will no longer be missed…though he is a loss.

Or perhaps they thought that as it had already been stated his resignation was a loss to the nation, then it would be redundant to say he would be missed, loss already implying such.

**********************

This center for missing children should be investigated with decent parents/citizens watching over everyone's shoulder. So many dots.

CT-SEN: Woodward: Lieberman Was Considered For Bush Defense Secretary

From today's Post excerpt of Woodward's new book:

Card had the names of 11 possible Rumsfeld replacements in his "hit-by-the-bus" book, among them Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (D-Conn.), who had been Al Gore's vice presidential running mate in 2000 and was a staunch defender of the Iraq war, and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
But Card thought the best replacement for Rumsfeld would be James A. Baker III, who had been White House chief of staff and Treasury secretary under President Ronald Reagan, then secretary of state and chief political adviser to the president's father.
Card floated the names to Bush over the course of several weeks, all the while underscoring the advantages of change. But his focus was on Baker.

Thanks for the pic. Check your blog. I wonder what John Walsh think about Foley since Walsh's programs features Wanted pediphiles and we had a pediphile collecting a paycheck and using his position to prey on children. I wonder what Mark Klass, father of Polly Klass, (Polly was a 12 year old that was murdered by a pediphile many years ago) and Erin Runnion, mother of Samantha Runnion, (who was murdered by pediphile) and other parents who fought the system to put the pediphiles behind bars think about Foley!

SPB,

I sure hope John Walsh is horrified about Foley! I went to his website to see if there was any comment about Foley -- nothing at amw.com yet.

It's a great illustration that you can't always tell who the predators are...there are even judges that are predators...people we would least suspect.
I am so glad that Foley is finally exposed!

On Friday afternoon, a strategist for Rep. Mark Foley tried to cut a deal with ABC's Brian Ross.

The correspondent, who had dozens of instant messages that Foley sent to teenage House pages, had asked to interview the Florida Republican. Foley's former chief of staff said the congressman was quitting and that Ross could have that information exclusively if he agreed not to publish the raw, sexually explicit messages.

"I said we're not making any deals," Ross recalls. He says the Internet made the story possible, because on Thursday he posted a story on his ABC Web page, the Blotter, after obtaining one milder e-mail that Foley had sent a 16-year-old page, asking for a picture. Within two hours, former pages had e-mailed Ross and provided the salacious messages. The only question then, says Ross, was "whether this could be authenticated."

A Republican strategist attempted to offer ABC news access in exchange for not printing sexually-explicit instant messages sent by Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL,) according to a report buried in the Media Notes section of the Washington Post.
