Bail Water...

'The Architect: Karl Rove and the Master Plan for Absolute Power'
"Perhaps Rove is more a ship's captain than an architect — the latter metaphor, after all, suggests a permanence that is unusual in American politics.

Right now, the sea is swamping the decks, the crew has turned mutinous and the ship's hull is creaking ominously. If the winds continue to howl, the Skipper may find himself trapped on Abramoff's Island with Ralph Reed, Katherine Harris and a handful of other castaways. " <so much more>

Interesting as well as revealing. And for what it's worth his step-dad was openly gay and he secretly held meetings with Abramoff on street corners...

"The book also reveals that Rove held streetcorner meetings with fallen superlobbyist Jack Abramoff, knowing that all visits and phones calls to the White House were logged. Abramoff recently pleaded guilty to tax fraud and conspiring to bribe members of Congress."

"When the latest sidewalk strategy session with Karl Rove had concluded, Jack Abramoff settled into the backset of his chauffeur-driven car," Moore and Slater write on page 9. "'Like I said, everything that comes out of the White House is logged in. The phone calls he makes. The phone calls he receives. So this is just easier.'"

Hmmmmmm I took notes, Jackie knew about Rove's father being gay before RAWSTORY even had the story up.

She knows a whole lot sounds like....

But that's not all

"There is much to digest in The Architect, but new details of Rove's family history, self-proclaimed agnosticism, and the political machine built by friends such as the scandalized lobbyist Jack Abramoff, are certain to raise the heckles of Rove's Republican base.

Citing on the record sources including close friends of the elder Rove, Moore and Slater reveal he lived openly as a gay man and remained close to his son throughout his life.

Karl grew up believing Rove was his natural father, learning the truth only after his parents divorce during his young adulthood. A New Yorker profile of Rove recounts their relationship:

Rove spoke of his adoptive father in a tone of fierce admiration, love, and loyalty, for, as he put it, “how selfless his love had been,” as shown by his willingness to play, persuasively, the part of a blood parent for two decades.

The Architect describes the relationship of Louis and his long time friend, Joseph Koons. "Joseph Koons had been living openly as a gay man throughout his adult life, but Louis Rove had only come out after he'd left his family in Salt Lake City and moved to Southern California," the authors write.

In the book, Koons recounts how he and the elder Rove began to cruise the scene in Palm Springs, looking to make friends with older gay men, eventually forming a social club they dubbed the "Old Farts Club."

"The men met every Friday, usually at the Rainbow Cactus Restaurant… or the Martinie Burger, to eat, drink, and socialize," of the book says.

Moore and Slater raise speculation as to whether the suicide of Rove's mother, Reba, may have been aggravated by shame she felt over Louis' homosexuality.

"A man of almost startling intelligence, Rove is not likely to have ignored the possibility that his father's homosexuality might have figured in his mother choice to end her own life," the authors write.

A self-admitted agnostic, Rove has to date portrayed his parent's divorce and mother's subsequent death as something of a mystery.

"It's hard to figure out," Rove told Time Magazine in 2004. "You can speculate on what demons she just wasn't able to overcome, but she couldn't.” "

So Karl Rove, the king of moral values, is openly Gay, Agnostic, and has a strange connection with cults relating to Jack Abramoff???

And here he is in deep with Katherine Harris....all the while claiming he is the savior for the Conservative Republican base!!!

Evangelicals and real christians seem to be running from him like the plague...

If that doesn't cause Rove to resign now, I can't imagine what would, this has fingered him as an utter disgrace and one who outed a CIA agent after lying.....

Jack Abramoff has his ticket it says.

Thanks Anon what a story. Now I'm wondering if the little angle knew this and that's why it wasn't that important to push Rove to much because this will put him over the top and out of the potical game for good. Now yes I'm still wondering will Rove sing as his so call friends turn their backs on him. I'd love to have 3 hours to pick Fitzgeralds brain, there are things I need to get answers to.

Jackie--I have one answer but not about Rove, al-Qaeda will be up to their old tricks between now and probably a couple of months from now. The media did not think there were any threats in the latest video but anyone with a basic understanding of the 'flavor' of Islamism that these folks practice is that in this type of jihad, it is considered proper to give one's enemies a chance to convert before they are attacked. It was a huge warning. The media missed it because they still do not understand this type of Islamism.

Karl Rove is no different from anyone in this world.. The decisions that you make everyday (whether good or bad) is the direction of where your life will go. Rove chose his world which is the elite world of politics, greed, money, and power.. He has forgotten who he is and where he is going in life.. His family history has come back and bit him big time.. He condemned the gays, he did damage control to the American people all in the name of power.. And the one thing in his life that he at least gave a damn about which is father cost his reputation... He is a tragedy like the rest of the Administration.. But, as Jackie said that the family vacation with the Gerbil was a business vacation.. And best believe Rove is indispensible.

Regarding Abramoff/Rove connection, Rove has done so much graft that it is hard to choose which graft will bring down Rove.. I would bet the farm that it is the election fraud and the domestic spying... I know that the bloggers want Karl Rove indicted by Fitz.. But, it is matter of which graft that Rove was involved in will seal his fate...

Well, is it surprising that Cheney had his daughter Mary trying to get the gay voting when her daddy was running for V.P yet he flip flop on his opinion about gay rights and marriage. One minute he is for and other times he is against.. Both Rove and Cheney made those decisions all in the name of get the Gerbil elected and politics...The Gerbil crawled back in the WH for the second term from the church backing. And the Administration went on the chitlin circuit to promote anti-gay marriage and rights and promote the church's agendas.. And the Church have turned their back on Porkrind...

I could not possibly claim to be an expert on Islam. All I can say is that I know just a little bit more than a random person off the street. There are many, many different groups in Islam. Americans really know maybe two words, Sunni and Shi'ite because both groups are in Iraq but know nothing more than that. Those groups are different from Islamic fundamentalism, and there are even different fundamentalist groups. Some folks use the word 'Islamism' for some fundamentalist groups.

Now, bin Laden and company have some ideas influenced by an Egyptian religious leader named Sayyid Qutb. Here is a pretty good quick description of Qutb's ideas .

Jackie, you are correct in thinking that it is not realistic to think that everyone in a country should convert to Islam, but that would not matter to a jihadist influenced by Qutb's ideas. Oh, and of course there are different groups of jihadists, with different beliefs. Qutb's ideas influenced some of the most violent groups, though. As you will see, Egypt considered Qutb so dangerous that he was executed.

If more Americans had a basic understanding of more cultures, we would have fewer problems. I knew right away that bin Laden and Saddam were not in leagues with each other in 2003 because their belief systems are too different. Of course Saddam is a bad man that should have been kept under a magnifiying glass like an ant in the sun, but not an invasion like what happened. Bin Laden and the Taliban have a lot of beliefs in common, but not Saddam, not even close.

The neocons who are pushing a Clash of Civilizations are mirror-images of the terrorists that inspire their hyperbolic fear -- they are just as irrational and just as great a threat to our security.

"Seriousness" has become the word of the day for the Islamophobic set.

According to some of our more serious hawks, anyone who doesn't buy that the liberal democracies of the West are engaged in a death-match with hordes of dusky Muslim fanatics is "unserious" about America's security and can't be trusted.

It's the latest in a series of attempts to forestall any meaningful discussion of the causes of violent Islamist ideologies, much less how the United States should respond to them. It locks us into the global "war on terror."

Why is the WH Conducting a Smear Campaign Against Fitzgerald At This Time?
September 2, 2006

The New York Times and Washington Post have jumped aboard a blatant White House train aimed at smearing Patrick Fitzgerald, the Boy Scout of prosecutors.

Why is this happening now? As we pointed out on August 27, the attempt to claim Armitage as the first leaker to Novak is a red herring aimed at confusing the issue of Bush Administration accountablity for outing a CIA operative specializing in Weapons of Mass Destruction.

For the Times and Post, both ready to aid the White House in times of need, to pile on the sliming of Fitzpatrick with such gusto is a true sign of a feverish White House strategy unfolding.

But why now?

Larry Johnson, a counterterrorism expert, may have the answer. We're sure he won't mind our reposting of his recent column:

How low can they go? I refer of course to the latest vitriol directed at Valerie and Joe Wilson by the likes of Christopher Hitchens and Fred Hiatt of the Washington Post, who claim that Joe Wilson, not Bush Administration officials, is responsible for destroying his wife's cover and exposing her as a CIA operative. Hitchens battle with the bottle may account for his addled thinking, but what is Hiatt's excuse? Both men perform like Cirque du Soleil contortionists in dreaming up excuses for the nutty and destructive policies and actions of the Bush Administration. In watching their behavior we see a parallel with the devotees of Jim Jones who gathered in Guyana almost 30 years ago to drink poisoned kool aid.

Let's focus on the Post's Fred Hiatt. In today's Post editorial page, Hiatt writes:

Nevertheless, it now appears that the person most responsible for the end of Ms. Plame's CIA career is Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson chose to go public with an explosive charge, claiming -- falsely, as it turned out -- that he had debunked reports of Iraqi uranium-shopping in Niger and that his report had circulated to senior administration officials.

The claim that Joe Wilson’s op-ed from July of 2003 was a pack of lies and misrepresented the truth is an old rightiwng, White House canard. Here is what Joe Wilson said in the July 2003 op-ed:

Though I did not file a written report, there should be at least four documents in United States government archives confirming my mission. The documents should include the ambassador's report of my debriefing in Niamey, a separate report written by the embassy staff, a C.I.A. report summing up my trip, and a specific answer from the agency to the office of the vice president (this may have been delivered orally). While I have not seen any of these reports, I have spent enough time in government to know that this is standard operating procedure.

The question now is how that answer was or was not used by our political leadership. If my information was deemed inaccurate, I understand (though I would be very interested to know why). If, however, the information was ignored because it did not fit certain preconceptions about Iraq, then a legitimate argument can be made that we went to war under false pretenses.

False claim? False claim my ass! There were at least four reports. We now know that the National Intelligence officer for Africa in January 2003 briefed the White House that the Iraq/Niger claim was bunk. Even a partisan Senate Intelligence Committe report cites repeated efforts by the intelligence community to warn the President’s advisors that reports claiming Iraq was trying to buy uranium, including British reoirts, were not credible.

What is so bizarre is that the White House did admit that it was wrong to put the infamous 16 words into the State of the Union Address (of course, they blamed the CIA), just days after Wilson's op-ed appeared. If, as Hiatt claims, Wilson's op-ed was false, then why did the White House correct the record by confirming the substance of his claim?

Hiatt also portrays an astonishing ignorance of national security affairs. He offers up this goofiness referring to Joe Wilson's "culpability" for exposing his wife's job:

He ought to have expected that both those officials and journalists such as Mr. Novak would ask why a retired ambassador would have been sent on such a mission and that the answer would point to his wife.

Yes, why would the CIA send the former Director of Africa at the National Security Council, a former Ambassador to Gabon, and the last U.S. official to face down Saddam Hussein to Africa? Because Joe Wilson was uniquely qualified to do the job. Moreover, this is (or at least was) a common acitivity by the CIA. My former boss at State Department, Ambassador Morris D. Busby, made at least two trips I know of at the behest of the CIA after leaving government because of his experience in dealing with terrorism, narcotics, and Latin America. There are times when the CIA wants information and does not want to expose its own assets.

There was nothing on the public record or in any public document identifying Valerie Plame Wilson as a CIA operative. That information was classified. Sending Joe on a mission to Africa does not point the finger at her. Moreover, she did not make the decision to send him. That is another of Hiatt's lies and is routinely echoed by rightwing hacks. As Walter Pincus reported in the Washington Post in July 2005:

“ They [the White House] said that his 2002 trip to Niger was a boondoggle arranged by his wife, but CIA officials say that is incorrect. One reason for the confusion about Plame's role is that she had arranged a trip for him to Niger three years earlier on an unrelated matter, CIA officials told The Washington Post.” (Washington Post, 27 July 2005)

Harlow, the former CIA spokesman, said in an interview yesterday that he testified last year before a grand jury about conversations he had with Novak at least three days before the column was published. He said he warned Novak, in the strongest terms he was permitted to use without revealing classified information, that Wilson's wife had not authorized the mission and that if he did write about it, her name should not be revealed. (Washington Post, 27 July 2005)

We are forced to revisit this nonsense because we have now learned that in addition to Libby and Rove, Richard Armitage also was shooting off his mouth about classified information. Regardless of Armitage’s role as an initial source for Novak, we are still left with the fact that Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, and Scooter Libby abused their power and were actively engaged in a coordinated effort to discredit Joe Wilson for his behind the scene efforts to alert the public to the falsehoods in the President’s State of the Union address.

While Richard Armitage may have had no malicious intent, the same cannot be said for Cheney, Libby and Rove. They knew exactly what they were doing. According to The Washington Post, during the week of July 6, 2003, “two top White House officials disclosed Plame’s identity to at least six Washington journalists.” Sometime after Novak’s column appeared, Rove called Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC’s “Hardball” and told him that Mr. Wilson’s wife was “fair game.”

And we have the document released by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald in United States v. Libby, that provides a copy of notes Cheney had written in the margins of Mr. Wilson’s July 6 op-ed. In a court filing, Fitzgerald stated that the notes demonstrated that Cheney and Libby were “acutely focused” on the Wilson column and on rebutting his criticisms of the White House’s handling of the Niger intelligence. Those notes became the basis for Republican National Committee talking points circulated and repeated by Ken Mehlman and others.

Why is this relevant? Today the Bush Administration is once again trying to manufacture a case for war. They are calling critics of its policies on Iran and Iraq "appeasers" and decrying the lack of intelligence on Iran. It is deja vu all over again to quote Yogi Berra. They whine about a lack of intelligence on Iran but refuse to accept responsibility for their own role in destroying Valerie Plame's undercover work, which was focused on monitoring the flow of nuclear technology to Iran. They may not have fully understood what Val was doing because of her cover status. But that's the point. They don't think these things true. Their only goal is political survival.

Perhpas the new attention on the Plame affair will fuel public support for accountability in government. The gang of political thugs currently in the White House refuse to be held accountable for anything. With the help of enablers like Fred Hiatt and Christopher Hitchens and others in the main stream media, it is no wonder that Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld skate from disaster to disaster, oblivious to the field of debris left in their wake.

We must also remember that the Government sanctioned attack on the Wilsons is not an isolated event. Just ask former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill or National Security Advisor Richard Clarke. Add to this list the names of the two CIA Baghdad Chiefs of Station who were savaged for their prescient early warnings that Iraq was moving into a civil war. The Plame/Wilson affair stands as a stark reminder that President Bush and his minions prefer destroying those who call them to account for failed policies rather than admit error and take corrective measures that will serve the longterm interests of the United States. As we move towards a new war with Iran, we should not be surprised that people who know the truth are reluctant to come forward. If you choose to blow the whistle you are choosing career suicide and a full frontal assault on your character. In smearing the Wilsons, Bush and Cheney also are sliming America.

Posted by Larry Johnson on Friday, 01 September 2006 at 13:24

The irresponsibility of the Washington Post and New York Times in this slander is breathtaking.

Why does the Central Council of the Jews in Germany behave such as AIPAC?
It seems, as we citizens in Germany would have to make a decision. If we now did not decide defend Minister Wieczorek-Zeul separate permit that its suggestion of an investigation goes down regarding the loud antisemitism-cry, then it will similarly be issued and in the future as the citizens in the USA. Our government will be capable of no appropriate Middle East policy, because each criticism at Israel is over-sounded by antisemitism-reproach. It is because of us whether also in the German political landscape the antisemitism-club is the mortal blow for each argument, or whether this club is an embarrassing and clumsy derailing of the respective user.

GOOD Morning All and especially Fitz,

What great news!! So Rover's step-daddy was gay.

Sure would be easier on these guys if they would preach and live "tolerance".

It seems odd to say it makes me happy to see these things come out-but it does:-)

About that Adam with Al-Quada
I have read this several places on the net.The very strange saga of Adam Gadahn
“The FBI lists Gadahn's aliases as Abu Suhayb Al-Amriki, Abu Suhayb, Yihya Majadin Adams, Adam Pearlman, and Yayah.

But Adam Pearlmen is his real name! Adam is the grandson of the late Carl K. Pearlman; a prominent Jewish urologist in Orange County. Carl was also a member of the board of directors of the Anti-Defamation League, which was caught spying on Americans for Israel in 1993, much as AIPAC has been caught up in the more recent spy scandal.”

I think this information came originally from David Irving, so we should look into it in detail. The man now known as ‘Azzam the American’, and definitely associated with top al Qaeda leaders, was born Adam Pearlman, the son of semi-prominent hippie musician Phil Pearlman. Pearlman had converted to Christianity and changed the family name to Gadahn. Phil Pearlman’s father was in fact prominent urologist Carl Kenneth Pearlman.
---------------------------

The other day I saw a big ole marine cry after seeing his grandson for the first time since he has been home from Iraq. Gramps was for the war, before he was against it!

It seems Israel, AIPAC and various supporters of the their agendas have many things to hide. It isn't racist or anti-semitic to demand the truth.

Former and present actions demand the truth be told. If there is nothing to hide, then no one should object.

The citizens of Israel may not agree with their leaders who promote wars, send spies, encourage the slaughter of other world citizens AND CHILDREN while being so "helpful" to America.

I'm not a racist, think gays should be allowed to get married and enjoy all the benefits as straight people. You are barking up the wrong tree here. I'm not into the this one gov't, one religion B.S.---how about you? Stop playing both sides to promote chaos and violence for that to happen.

If truth hurts, perhaps someone went down the wrong path along the way much like Rove, Bush and the neocon/neolib ilk.

Tired of being manipulated.

I think you are a manipulator/con artist trying to spin the truth or avoid any truth from being revealed.

Some people do not agree with the leaders of Israel, AIPAC and their promoters of war. Nor the American or British ones either.

Are you sure you aren't racist? Are you upset that people are figuring the manipulation game going on here in America? Rove, Bush/Cheney all have an agenda but they weren't the only ones with the agendas.

Oh yeah, did they do something about that all white group in OK that wanted to kill people? Look it up.

Hate breeds hate, corruption breeds corruption, and people who act like savages breeds savages, no matter what color they might be. So let the truth keep coming out, it always does. Try humanity.

People people listen up. It makes since to attack Patrick Fitzgerald now as the birds are singing and the crooks are telling on the crooks. Libby's friends are even saying he lied just a little. Rove is left alone as all the GOP groups turn their back on him. To convince the American people that Fitz is wrong as to take the heat off of the White House's crimes. When Libby goes to trial all hell will break loose. Cheney will go down as well others. It's doesn't matter if you like or dislike the prosecutor it's all about the job he's doing. All criminals turn the story on the prosecutor to take the real truth out of the picture as they know they are guilty. Now if Bush does pardon Libby before he is found guilty that will tell Americans that Bush let a guilty man go free. You are innocent until proven guilty. Abramoff and Cunningham will be getting their pardons too. Bush can't let one of his team do time while releasing another. All these guys have information of corruption by the White House.
Like the movie all the Presidents men in this up dated movie who do you think should play Fitzgerald. I prefer Denzel Washington just a thought.

Roger you are bonkers nuts and crazy to the 666 degree. BTW, pull your shades because I am in the dark sedan idling outside your house with the AIPAC bumper sticker on the rear window.
