BELFAST, Ireland, July 2 (UPI) -- An asteroid with the power to wipe out a small country will miss the Earth tomorrow, the Sunday Telegraph reported.

Asteroid 2004 XP14 is nearly half a mile wide and was discovered in December 2004. It is in the "Apollo" class of asteroids, which are those that cross orbits with Earth.

Initial speculation by scientists predicted the possibility of impact with Earth later this century, but that conclusion has been ruled out, the newspaper said.

When the asteroid passes Earth, it will be some 268,624 miles away, just slightly further away than the average distance of the Moon from Earth, the report said. A telescope will be required to view the asteroid, which will pass at 5:25 a.m. UK time.

Richard S. Lindzen needs to go do some more homework. There was indeed very heated debate on global warming for decades, whether it existed or not, if humans had anything to do with it if it did exist, and/or if it had anything to do with our current interglaciation (Holocene).

Mr. Lindzen at least needs to go take a look at a "National Geographic" special issue that came out within the past year, I believe (last summer?). It will be written in language he can understand. ;-)

They had something on about global warming on that Sunday News program before "Face the Nation" this morning. Bush made campaign promises in 2000 and then promptly let the industries run amouk when he took office. (or may have relaxed the restrictions even more.)

Why do they want to read blogs anyway? Find out how much of the truth the public already knows about the corruption?

Yes, we do have issue with Global Warming. I am glad that Al Gore came out with his documentary to educate the public. Gore told Jon Stewart that he had been working on his concern about Global Warming while he was in office. This showed his dedication to his concern about global warming.

And about the military being payed to study blogs.. Waste of time.. But, it is irriating of invasion of privacy by the government!

Dubai ownes a large hotel in New York so look for Dubai to keep buying American property and businesses.

Meanwhile, the little farmers will struggle or go out of business. Fuel prices, fertlizer prices higher and insurance higher...nope, they are not making it. Most people tend to lump all farmers together and read articles like this...never having a clue how hard is for the average farmer.

There was no explanation of why Mehlman would have wanted the information shared with Abramoff.

SPB, I don't think Mr. Fitzgerald is the type of person that could live with himself if not giving his all against such corruption. The fact that he doesn't care which side the crooks are on or BOTH speaks highly of him. TRENTON, New Jersey (AP) -- Courts, motor vehicle offices and inspection stations are closed. Lottery ticket sales have been halted. The same could happen to betting at race tracks and casinos.

More than half the state work force was staying home Monday on the first weekday of a statewide shutdown that began after lawmakers missed a July 1 deadline to adopt a new state budget.

The furlough affects about 45,000 state employees. It exempts personnel deemed essential, including state police, prison guards, child welfare workers and some administration staff.

Gov. Jon S. Corzine closed state government Saturday amid an impasse with fellow Democrats in the Assembly that left New Jersey with no means to spend money. He met in private with top Assembly and Senate leaders for nearly four hours Sunday but no compromise was reached.

It a shame about McCain. He was real strong leader in the GOP. I may have not like some of his issues in the past. But, he was very dedicated to his political party and shared a deep concern about the military. However, he has sold himself to the Gerbil big time. And he used to be called The Maverick? I don't think that he even have a chance for the Presidency. And he certainly need to worry about his own state in Arizona espcailly about the Tillman coverup case. With all of the bear hugs and love for the Gerbol only means that he is either directly or indirectly involved some deal with the Gerbil. And I wonder if he is directly or indirectly involved in the Abramoff scandal.. Makes you wonder...

The "paragraph" you cite is meaningless! It only states Rove and Hadley "does not intend to call them as witnesses at this time"-for THIS particular CASE-despite that Libby wants to put their ugly conduct on trial too. But it isn't their case, this one is for JUST Libby...

Not to worry-Rove and Hadley will have plenty to witness in their own trials.

Forget your buddies anon-put in a fork in them-they are done! Justice will be served.

I would say that PJF has somewhat left that avenue open with his statements, not ruling it out completely. He may not need to call either Rove or Hadley to prove his case against Libby. But we are not sure whether this case will lead to other people involved in a conspiracy...

PS-Anon, Looking forward to Rove's indictment in particular. You see, Fitz does not need Rove/Haldley to testify to convict Libby. Libby case is open and shut-just like Gitmo-when it finally got to court. Sad day to be a neorepublican...

Hadley can also tell us all about why he changed his name and how a convicted insurance fraud felon got clearance to work in our governments highest levels.

I did read paragragh 15 about the government not intending to call Rove or Hadley.. But, the more that I think it. Was Karl Rove really "Official A" Or I call it the #1 guy? It just makes me wonder about the person's comments from a previous post that "Rove is just small potatoes." Fitzgerald is known for getting the number 2 guy to get to the number 1 guy.. And from March 5, 2004 and March 24, 2004 testimony by the little soldier about Cheney and the handwritten note. And that document says "Johm Doe." Hmmm.. And Cheney told CNN that he may be testifying at Libby's trial...Yet Chimpcoulter says: But we are not sure whether this case will lead to other people involved in a conspiracy... I am sure more individuals are tied in to the leak case. But I wonder if it has to do with the State Dept. Memo (which ties into the leaking of Plame's name) mention in the NY Times article in 2005...

Don't worry, folks, I just thinking out loud...

After years of competitive and often contentious dealings, President Bush and Senator John McCain of Arizona are building a deepening if impersonal relationship that is serving the political needs of both men.

Given their history of intense rivalry and sometimes personally bitter combat, their newfound partnership is seen by some Republicans as born more of political calculation than personal evolution. Either way, it could prove valuable to Mr. McCain in his efforts to win the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 by sending a signal to Mr. Bush's conservative base and fund-raising network that, at a minimum, the White House will not stand in the Arizonan's way.

That would be a disaster on the defense part. Wells, Jeffress, Tate, and Cline are playing into the Team Fitz's hands.. If Porkrind is called to testify in the defense, and if he lies on any part of his testimony (which Fitz will review Rove's five testimonies to the GJ), then Rove is caught like a dead duck! This will work in Fitz's favor for sure if that is what the defense's strategy! The little soldier is spending some much money on legal fees on a lame duck defense!

I think you are absolutely correct on the Rover thought. If he testifies in any trial and his testimony deviates in any way from what he told the GJ, he is absolute TOAST.
Something is up - Rover is NOT off of the hook by any means. A deal was made. It is the only thing that makes any sense at all.

Rove is certainly not off the hokk by a long shot. As I said to Anon, I think was trying to see what trump card strategy that the defense was going to spin regarding a possible testimony by Rove. Because Fitz said that he was not going to call Rove or Hadley, he knew that the defense would call Rove. I would have love to find out exactly what Rove said to the GJ and Fitz for the five times that he gave testimony, what Cheney said to Fitz (not under oath), and what the Gerbil said to Fitz in that 70 minute interview (not under oath).. But, Rove will hang himself in the Libby trial. Team Libby really underestimated Fitz' strategy. For an expensive and prestige attorneys, Team Libby surely feel asleep at the wheel on their defense to bail the smurf out.
