Crime Does Not Pay Or Give Refunds...

'Show me the money!' - 'Talk to the hand!'
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Seven years after donating $1.1 million in Enron stock to his alma mater and with little to show for the gift, company founder Kenneth Lay asked the University of Missouri to steer the unspent money to Hurricane Katrina relief.

The school rejected the request, according to records obtained Monday by The Associated Press. By February, a Lay attorney was asking the school to return the money so Lay could pay legal bills stemming from the fraud and conspiracy case against him. The school again turned him down.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't believe what I am reading here. Lying Lay's "attorney was asking the school to return the money so Lay could pay legal bills stemming from the fraud and conspiracy case against him." Now, that is lower than dirt.. I certainly would tell Elmer J. Lay to talk to the hand! He certainly have nerve to ask the college to forwarding that money for his legal bills when Lay was living off the hog pimping the company, investors, and employees in millions.. Personally, if I were the college, I would hand Lay a tin cup and a sign to hold up that says: "can you spare a dime for the smartest guys in the Enron room?" and get the legal fees and dough the best way that he can...

More on the Enron Trial. This is about Lay's second trial. From WSJ, the spotlight is on U.S. assistant attorney, John Hueston:

Here is an excerpt:

Enron Founder Ken Lay Spars
With Prosecutor in Second Trial
Associated Press
May 23, 2006 4:02 p.m

HOUSTON -- Sparring again with prosecutor John Hueston, Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay insisted he was not trying to do anything improper when he failed to comply with federal rules covering the use of bank loans by buying stocks with the money.
"Mr. Hueston, I know you find this very strange, but Regulation U was not something I carried around with me all the time," Mr. Lay said, referring to a Depression-era federal law at issue in his bank fraud case. "The regulation is not something I carried around in my hip pocket."

"Prosecutors in Mr. Lay's other trial allege that, beginning in 1999, Mr. Lay obtained $75 million in loans from three banks -- Bank of America, Chase Bank of Texas and Compass Bank -- and then reneged on an agreement with the lenders that he wouldn't use the money to carry or buy stock or mutual funds. The federal rules governing use of loans for stock sales were covered in documents Mr. Lay signed.
His personal banker testified earlier that the rules were spelled out to Mr. Lay."

And exchange between Hueston and Lay:

"Mr. Hueston reminded Mr. Lay: "You were the one calling the shots."
"I'm not trying to shift responsibility," Mr. Lay replied.
The prosecutor also told Mr. Lay that banks gave him tens of millions of dollars, "relying on your personal representations as a precondition."
"We clearly made mistakes here," Mr. Lay responded. "We clearly were in noncompliance. And I'm sorry about that," he said, adding: "I can't go back and undo it. But there never was any intent to defraud or mislead anyone."

This is an interesting article from Talkleft.com. Jason Leopold is always a step ahead of his reporting than the rest of the media:

Here is an excerpt:

Tuesday :: May 23, 2006
Robert Grenier as a Witness in Libby Trial

"The New York Daily News is reporting that former CIA official Robert Grenier has been disclosed in pleadings by Team Libby to be the unnamed CIA official who allegedly told Libby on June 10 that Joseph Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame Wilson, worked for the C.I.A. and had a role in sending her husband to Niger to check on the uranium claim.
Unless I'm missing something, this news is two months old. The first such pleading was filed on March 17. The latest was May 12. Both have been previously reported on.
Jason Leopold reported this on March 18."

It is interesting that New York Daily News report Robert Granier as the witness yet Jason reported this same person in March. Yup, this news is old..

Now who is Robert Granier?

Robert Grenier was a longtime CIA officer and top official in charge of the CIA's Counterterrorism Center. Grenier was fired from the CIA on 6 February 2006 by CIA director Porter Goss. The London Sunday Times reported that Grenier lost his job with the CIA "because he opposed detaining Al-Qaeda suspects in secret prisons abroad, sending them to other countries for interrogation and using forms of torture such as 'water boarding'."

Bad news, folks! Hayden is in. From Thinkprogress:

"Hayden approved 12-3 by Senate Intel Committee to replace Porter Goss as CIA Director. Sens. Russ Feingold (D-WI), Evan Bayh (D-IN), and Ron Wyden (D-OR) opposed the nomination. “If the Senate approves him before Memorial Day, as expected, Hayden could be sworn in by the end of the week.”

Well, folks, you know who opposed Hayden's nomination.. Make sure you make a statement come November!!

Yeah ah huh, someone's really slow still I take it. *Yawn*

The article regarding Ireland, was taken off of this website entirely.

It was done because really, Fitzgerald's office is tired of getting calls about this blog.

This blog was meant as nothing more than a secret place to simply relax, pass the time, and onward.

Instead some various people, including Clarice, who I will not say are neocons since no one knows either way-decided to turn this into a spitball war.

As we already were well aware, neocons have attacked this place since its inception. But this was different.

This person seemed to have real difficulty getting the message, and even a bizarre type of vendetta. (Anger management medication perhaps?)

So she and her friend drove everyone up the wall, making it a better time than any to remove anything of Fitzgerald's cousin or anyone's personal life.

Technically all of that is pretty off subject and private information, and with the kind of prying eyes here...nobody really wanted to see it go all over the globe.

Thanks to the trouble these past few days, anything of personal nature has been removed and various other rules have been established.

Secret place ???? At least one of your fellow bloggers was using this site as a reference on another internet site and posted the link otherwise I would never have known about it.

I was abused and disrespected from the first time I posted on this blog.

So cry me a River. I'm told that this is Patrick Fitzgerald's blog by some here but no one will admit to it at Mr. Fitzgeral's office. I just want the facts and an understanding of why Mr. Fitzgerald would tolerate threats and intimidation just because a person like me holds a differing opinion than most that post here.

I think the young people call this a do over. Once you give it you want it back. He should have put some of the money he spent thousands of dollars as Eron was going down hill. Well at lease he has the houses in Texas he can sell. Matter yet Ken Lay should ask for of his supporters to cover his legal cost.

That's right, they were laughing at the fact you take the world so seriously.

Instead of being such a painful eyesore, why don't you simply go ahead and believe what you like about this blog and then leave.

After all, its up to you. Only the true believers know what is up with this blog.

And they are nothing more than inside the circle, so they are allowed to know all about this blog. Including Jackie, of course, and the other one bluewild.

I don't find the disrespectful nature of bloggers here to be funny. It just seems to be one big conspiracy to try and bring down the current administration. Everyone is assumed guilty and the faithful here don't care how, they just want their guilty verdicts. Whatever happened to the principles of "innocent until proven guilty"? This is the most angry "doom and gloom" bunch of people I think I may have ever encountered in my life. If this is really Mr. Fitzgerald's blog then I will pray for him tonight.

The Legal Bar-- Thanks for letting me know that this is reel. But, please, I am Don de Drain, not down the drain.

You know, I get abused and disrespected on a regular basis. Mostly by judges, mind you, so I suppose you could say I'm getting paid for the abuse and disrespect. But even when the abuse and disrespect is pro bono, I do my best to act in professional manner. I don't try to "get even" and don't worry about getting the "last laugh." I make the points I want to make in a professional manner, and then go swim off the frustration. Being human, once in a while I slip off the wagon, get a bee in my bonnett and rush off to avenge the "injustice" that has been done to me. And every time I do that I get into trouble.

Gotta really laugh about Kenny Boy's efforts to get back his charitable contribution to pay his legal fees. Think he would remember to report the refund from the charity as income on his tax return if he got it back [assuming he deducted the contribution in the year he made it]? Doubt it very much. Hey, then they could prosecute him for tax fraud!

And how about Hueston? He really can go over the top sometimes. A very bright, aggressive and ambitious federal prosecutor, not particularly known for his finesse. But he's one prosecutor I'd put my money on almost every time.

Which brings me to PJF. I'll put my money on him, every time. Can't wait for the real show to start.

Virulent hatred, greed, the desire to control, crush and subjugate spirit, will destroy the world if we don't wake up. Stopping the current manifestations of the ego sickness threatening the world (Enron, our current government, unchecked capitalistic global expansion, environmental destruction, terrorism....)is one part of the work on our plates at this time. I hope this does not seem like too bizarre a posting, but the sickness seems to have found its way here. The measures necessary to contain it will diminish the vibrancy, the humanness that has contributed to the uniqueness of this blog. And I certainly agree w/Charles' posting at 7:01.

I think General Charles Hayden is the right man for the job. It is about time the military got more involved in this country and I really hope he does not cave in and quit the army while he runs the CIA. I think he will instill some discipline into that booze fed organization. Crack the whip is what it needs.

People respect men in uniforms and this will really let the American public know who is in charge. I would like to see the president wear a uniform too. Something with a lot of medals on it and lots of stars. People will stand up and salute I guarantee it.

I would like to see more influence by religious leaders like Falwell and Robertson in the government. I think there should be a permanent position in the cabinet for a National religious Leader. Billy Graham is too old but he would have been perfect.

I also think that everything the president does should be classified. See how many problems an open society creates. Out of sight, out of mind I always say.

Yes, precisely. This American experiment with freedom is overblown and has caused numerous problems. Remember, progress is getting things to work as well as they used to and the 12th century would be a good place to revisit.
