Here's a cheerful start...

"The administration has not only the right, but the duty, in my opinion, to pursue Fifth Column movements," Graham, R-S.C., told Gonzales during Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on Feb. 6.

"I stand by this president's ability, inherent to being commander in chief, to find out about Fifth Column movements, and I don't think you need a warrant to do that," Graham added, volunteering to work with the administration to draft guidelines for how best to neutralize this alleged threat.

"Senator," a smiling Gonzales responded, "the president already said we'd be happy to listen to your ideas."

UAE gave $1 million to Bush library
By WENDY BENJAMINSON
Associated Press

A sheik from the United Arab Emirates contributed at least $1 million to the Bush Library Foundation, which established the George Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M University in College Station.

The UAE owns Dubai Port Co., which is taking operations from London-based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co., which operates six U.S. ports. A political uproar has ensued over the deal, which the White House approved without congressional oversight.

The donations were made in the early 1990s for the library, which houses the papers of former President George Bush, the current president's father.

The list of donors names Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan al Nahyan and the people of the United Arab Emirates as one donor in the $1 million or more category.

The amount of the gift grants them recognition on the engraved donor wall in the library entrance or on the paving bricks that line the library's walkways, according to library documents.

Roman Popaduik, chairman of the Bush Library Foundation that collects donations, said he could not discuss details of the gifts except to say the amount category and whether it was before or after 1997.

The chief executive of the Dubai company, Ahmed bin Sulayem, did not donate individually.

The hundreds of large donors include longtime Bush associates, including Vice President Dick Cheney and other administration officials as well as business titans — such as Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay — and big Republican donors.

Other Arab donors include the state of Kuwait, the Bandar bin Sultan family, the Sultanate of Oman, King Hassan II of Morocco and the amir of Qatar. The former Korean prime minister and China also gave tens of thousands of dollars to the library.

PJF and staff.....all the posts become open threads after a little while. Good to hear from you, though.

I have a question to anyone out there: That Libby is hiring a memory expert...is that to help him
remember or help prove that his memory could be faulty? Just a question that I haven't seen answered...and where did they pull that idea out of? Expensive lawyers and all, you have to wonder!

Everyone have a great day.

Senator Graham is inconsistent. Sometimes he seems to show a lot of common sense and other times he goes off the wall.

He has taken a pretty hard position on the torture issue but then makes a grandiose statement on Presidential power like the one cjt cites.

As far as the Bushies getting money from UAE and others - I am afraid that the root of most of America's problems is tied to big money in one form or another.

I don't think he's looking for someone to help him remember.

Because if it workes out he would have so answer truthfully! And that's called a confession :-)

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening folks:

Happy Thursday! I read Anon's comments late last night about my computer. Yesk it was a virus on my computer. And some of my files were corrupted. But, thanks to my computer technician, Mike, he has resolved my computer problems. So, I now waiting on brand new computer. It was shipped two days ago. I should be back to normal with being on the blog by the end of this week.

Now, sounds like Fitz is busy today (thanks to Anon for yesterday's comments to Jackie and to the current posting today. I assumed it is one of his staff members in the office).

Early this morning, I received this article via email regarding domestic spying:

All,

Here is the Biloxi's news for today. As Fitz is out fight for justice and the mangler-in-chief is in India, Dubya has more problems here. More things unraveled:

1. Bush was told that Saddam would not attack U.S.
The report stated that U.S. intelligence agencies unanimously agreed that it was unlikely that Saddam would try to attack the United States -- except if "ongoing military operations risked the imminent demise of his regime" or if he intended to "extract revenge" for such an assault, according to records and sources.

http://hotstory.nationaljournal.com/articles/0302nj1.htm

2. A second Dubai deal in secret.
U.S. reviewing second Dubai deal: Firm was to make military components

The Bush administration, stung by the public outcry over the Dubai port deal, has launched a national security investigation of another Dubai-owned company set to take over plants in Georgia and Connecticut that make precision components used in engines for military aircraft and tanks, The Washington Post reports on Thursday page ones.

http://rawstory.com/news/2006/U.S._reviewing_second_Dubai_deal_Firm_0301.html

3. And the state of California is pushing to have Bush impeached. Which other state will step to the plate?

March 2nd, 2006 2:02 am
CALIFORNIA: PUSH TO IMPEACH BUSH
(AP) San Francisco city supervisors have passed a resolution asking their Democratic Congressional delegation to pursue the impeachment of President Bush, accusing him of mishandling the Iraq war and cutting civil liberties. "I think the case is clear, and I think it's appropriate for us to weigh in," said Chris Daly, a supervisor who sponsored the measure. The Board of Supervisors approved it on Tuesday, 7 to 3.

Now, this article certainly get the knuckhead award for today by Rambo Cheney:

Cheney Urges Americans to Save

Thursday March 2, 2006 3:46 PM
By JEANNINE AVERSA
WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney urged Americans Thursday to do a better job of saving and challenged policymakers to strengthen pensions and fix Social Security to help people in their golden years.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-5658402,00.html

There you have it folks. The words from Dick Cheney. Here is a billionaire that stole from people and made huge profits currently from Halliburton (A company that he was once the CEO). And now he tells people that they need to save. Here is why people can't save! Take a look of the today's U.S. deficit:

U.S. NATIONAL DEBT CLOCK
"The Outstanding Public Debt as of 02 Mar 2006 at 06:20:11 PM GMT is:

8,265,701,505,629.34

The estimated population of the United States is 298,667,099
so each citizen's share of this debt is $27,675.31.
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$2.17 billion per day since September 30, 2005!"

Is Rambo living in fantasyland???

The answer to almost every question is, "follow the money."

The Bush-Saudi ties are about mostly oil money. The Iraq War is about mostly Halliburton profits. Trying to privatize Social Security is about who controls the money - those who donate to campaigns or government agencies that have Congressional oversight. Health care - anyone not know drug companies pay big money to lobbyists and politicians to keep their finances private and profits high? The list goes on.

Democrats can be just as bad in order to get the big bucks. But this current gang seems so positively evil about it, with no "give-back" to the American people.

I fear for how long it will take to clean up this mess. Hurry, PJ, we need so clean this house of evil-doers. (Okay, I really mean take your time to get it right, as I know you are.)

3:48 PM
Blogger Special Prosecutor Biloxi said...

You are right on the money, Kit! It all boils down to money! Both parties Democrats and Republicans need some serious housecleaning! Certain politicans had their hands into the kitty with the Bush Adminstration. As I pointed out from previous postings, this Adminstration will go down in history as the most corrupted. Look at the debt clock that I posted. It is a crying shame of this major mess that we are in. But, don't worry, Fitz will bring the Adminstration to justice. and that goes for the other current cases that are connected to the Adminstration such Abramoff/DeLay/Enron Case/Dubai Post sales, etc. If all of the corrupted individuals, including Fitz's case are all brought to justice, then you will certainly see a large majority of politicans cleaned out.
P.S. Rove will be the next for Fitz to tackle. Looks like Libby doesn't have a prayer and his boss, Cheney, since the emails came from Cheney's computer. Once Libby, Cheney, and Rove (Bush's brain) are indicted and out of the picture for Dubya to lean on, Dubya will be a lost cause. He will not have anyone to help him out of this mess.

Now I know why Condi was asking 75 million for Iran propaganda. And that money could have been given to the Departments whom budgets have been cut such as the DOJ.:

U.S. State Department creates new office for Iran

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. State Department is creating a special office to deal with foreign policy changes related to Iran and to promote a democratic transition in the Islamic republic, State Department officials said Thursday.
Traditionally, Iran has been dealt with as part of a larger grouping of Persian Gulf countries, but the officials said the new Office of Iran Affairs reflects a growing concern over actions by the Iranian regime and the need to devote significantly more personnel and resources to Iran policy.

On a positive note: payback is something else. Remember, Pat Robertson and his scary remarks about Chavez. As Robertson would say: "God works in mysterious ways." And it did on him!:

Robertson Loses Broadcasters' Board Seat

03-02) 11:37 PST Virginia Beach, Va. (AP) --
Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson, criticized by some evangelicals for comments about Venezuela's president and Israel's prime minister, lost a bid for re-election to the National Religious Broadcasters' board of directors.

And if that can happen to Robertson, then it can happen to the Adminstration when they used the church for political gain.

I did some research on Bowman and I don't know if he is part of the Tin Foil Hat Brigade or not.

I do have some doubts on how much he was in charge of when he was still in the Air Force. I don't know of any Lt Col in my experience that had the kind of responsibility that is mentioned in some of his writeups - e.g., head of Star Wars - Star Wars didn't even exist when he was on active duty.
