UAE gave $1 million to Bush library

A sheik from the United Arab Emirates contributed at least $1 million to the Bush Library Foundation, which established the George Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M University in College Station.
The UAE owns Dubai Port Co., which is taking operations from London-based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co., which operates six U.S. ports. A political uproar has ensued over the deal, which the White House approved without congressional oversight.
The donations were made in the early 1990s for the library, which houses the papers of former President George Bush, the current president's father.
The list of donors names Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan al Nahyan and the people of the United Arab Emirates as one donor in the $1 million or more category.
The amount of the gift grants them recognition on the engraved donor wall in the library entrance or on the paving bricks that line the library's walkways, according to library documents.
Roman Popaduik, chairman of the Bush Library Foundation that collects donations, said he could not discuss details of the gifts except to say the amount category and whether it was before or after 1997.
The chief executive of the Dubai company, Ahmed bin Sulayem, did not donate individually.
The hundreds of large donors include longtime Bush associates, including Vice President Dick Cheney and other administration officials as well as business titans — such as Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay — and big Republican donors.
Other Arab donors include the state of Kuwait, the Bandar bin Sultan family, the Sultanate of Oman, King Hassan II of Morocco and the amir of Qatar. The former Korean prime minister and China also gave tens of thousands of dollars to the library.

Happy Thursday! I read Anon's comments late last night about my computer. Yesk it was a virus on my computer. And some of my files were corrupted. But, thanks to my computer technician, Mike, he has resolved my computer problems. So, I now waiting on brand new computer. It was shipped two days ago. I should be back to normal with being on the blog by the end of this week.

The answer to almost every question is, "follow the money."
The Bush-Saudi ties are about mostly oil money. The Iraq War is about mostly Halliburton profits. Trying to privatize Social Security is about who controls the money - those who donate to campaigns or government agencies that have Congressional oversight. Health care - anyone not know drug companies pay big money to lobbyists and politicians to keep their finances private and profits high? The list goes on.
Democrats can be just as bad in order to get the big bucks. But this current gang seems so positively evil about it, with no "give-back" to the American people.
I fear for how long it will take to clean up this mess. Hurry, PJ, we need so clean this house of evil-doers. (Okay, I really mean take your time to get it right, as I know you are.)
You are right on the money, Kit! It all boils down to money! Both parties Democrats and Republicans need some serious housecleaning! Certain politicans had their hands into the kitty with the Bush Adminstration. As I pointed out from previous postings, this Adminstration will go down in history as the most corrupted. Look at the debt clock that I posted. It is a crying shame of this major mess that we are in. But, don't worry, Fitz will bring the Adminstration to justice. and that goes for the other current cases that are connected to the Adminstration such Abramoff/DeLay/Enron Case/Dubai Post sales, etc. If all of the corrupted individuals, including Fitz's case are all brought to justice, then you will certainly see a large majority of politicans cleaned out.
P.S. Rove will be the next for Fitz to tackle. Looks like Libby doesn't have a prayer and his boss, Cheney, since the emails came from Cheney's computer. Once Libby, Cheney, and Rove (Bush's brain) are indicted and out of the picture for Dubya to lean on, Dubya will be a lost cause. He will not have anyone to help him out of this mess.
Ok little angel I've read the open threads but I have a small request. BRING THEM DOWN ASAP I'M NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER AND I'M BAD AT WAITING BUT YOU KNOW THAT. Sorry just had to get that out.
