March Comes In Like A Lamb...

Dead-eye Dick loses grip in wind of change

"Nobody truly knows what goes on between the vice-president and president of the United States. That’s how they like it, after all. They have a weekly lunch session alone, with no aides and no notes taken.

It’s the ultimate power lunch. They never publicly disagree. The only time they did — over the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriages and civil unions — Cheney got a pass because his daughter is a lesbian, now expecting a child. But the lack of public disagreement has not prevented Washington from constant chatter about the real state of affairs. And the evidence we’re getting is that Cheney is far from the influence he once was."

Cheney's world of illusion
If Dick Cheney were anything less than vice president, you'd have to wonder if the judge in the Lewis "Scooter" Libby trial would have let him leave the country. During closing arguments, prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald made it clear that he believed Cheney's chief of staff perjured himself to cover up his boss's role in "outing" CIA agent Valerie Plame.

As some of you have noted, Judge Walton released a whopping 48-page opinion explaining his evidentiary decision-making in the trial. I think he did so for two reasons. First, his clerk, who has been involved in this case from the start, had his last day Friday. By getting all this on paper now, Walton makes sure that the clerk who worked with him on these rulings works with him on the opinion.

But it also lays out where we might be heading for the appeals process. After all, in the very first days of this trial, Ted Wells said we were "probably … maybe" going to be arguing these issues after the trial. If the Lead Defense Counsel thinks an appeal (and therefore some convictions) are probable, then the judge might well take note and prepare for it.

March blew in like a big roaring lion where I live, now roar about this.

"It's official: Rupert Murdoch is launching a new business channel that will be "more business friendly" than its competitors, namely CNBC.

As if CNBC (owned by General Electric) isn't business friendly enough. Every night Lawrence Kudlow hawks the latest supply side argument and grotesque piece of corporate welfare. Recently Maria Bartiromo, the so-called "Money Honey," came under fire after it was disclosed that she hitched rides on Citigroup jets and did promotional appearances for the company. The network, with its omnipresent stock ticker, resembles a never-ending pep rally for Wall Street. "

Jan we sure will hear the Lion roar and much more. Let's see how Gonzo handles the hearing of the fired attorneys and let's see how the White House handles the Walter Reed scandal. Much more to come as Iran and Syria play their cards now the Bush is a world wide lame duck and the Dickster is double talking out of control.

"Suddenly a new slide popped up on the giant screen behind Mr. Spitzer on the stage of the Hilton New York ballroom. It said, in huge letters, “Guardians of the Status Quo,” and it bore the logos of the two groups, the Greater New York Hospital Association and the union, 1199 S.E.I.U. United Healthcare Workers East, which have joined forces to become one of the most powerful lobbies in Albany.

“Now, my good friends at 1199 and Greater New York, I want to put your logos up here just so everybody will know who you are,” Mr. Spitzer began, before launching into a point-by-point rebuttal, with 16 more slides, of their claims about his proposed cuts.?"

can you dig it?, I just learned recently that Dietrich Snell who worked with Fitzgerald in the SDNY (friend, I don't know) is Gov. Spitzer's chief legal advisor. Does that mean anything?

I can just see that power lunch! Bush with his smirk and Cheney with his growl!

One says, "nook-lee-urrr, the google and the internets" and the other one says, "you're out of line and go f**k yourself" Whew! That must be some real power lunch! Great conversation! LOL

Cheney's goose is cooked...

Jackie,

I am so happy for you that your daughter will soon come home to you. :)

I have a question:

New Mexico Sen. Pete Domenici acknowledged Sunday that he called a federal prosecutor to ask about a criminal investigation, but insisted he never pressured nor threatened his state's U.S. attorney.

latest/story/0,,-6457357,00.html

Isn't a Senatetor calling a federal prosecutor to ask about a criminal investigation just flat out against the law or just a slap on the hand with a ruler by the senate?

Jan
First they will have to find out what the Senator wanted to talk about like what was his question about the criminal matter. That's why they don't want the Attorneys to testify under oath. It's that question to could be against the law. Many more attorneys are stories of interferrence. Look it's really not that hard to understand. To many GOP and friends have been indicted and convicted. So the White House needs lawyers that follow the Bush policy of only indicting Dems. Bush has to find a way of controlling the legal system to stop his friends and Cheney from being indicted. If not many more will be convicted.

Back at the beginning of the year the Justice Department announced that it was replacing seven U.S. Attorneys in an unprecedented move. The Attorney ‘purge’ was able to take place due to a provision allowing the Justice Department to unilaterally replace U.S. Attorneys for any reason that was snuck into the PATRIOT Act reauthorization by Senator Arlen Specter ☼ (R-PA). McClatchy Newspapers reports today that one of those Attorneys, David Iglesias, U.S. Attorney from New Mexico, was pressured by Rep. Heather Wilson ☼ (R-NM) and Sen. Pete Domenici ☼ (R-NM) to bring down indictments on local Democratic officials prior to the 2006 midterm election. Iglesias refused and has since been purged by the Justice Department. If Wilson and Domenici did attempt to pressure a sitting U.S. Attorney for the political benefit of the oft-endangered Wilson it would be a serious ethical violation...

Americans want truth and justice, not cronies that will bury the truth, let crooks walk free or find 'patsies' to take their fall. Democrats, Republicans, Independents, none should receive special treatment or play dirty tricks. Specter needs his own tricks looked at along with Pat Roberts.

"Published: March 4, 2007

The Bush administration’s assault on some of the founding principles of American democracy marches onward despite the Democratic victory in the 2006 elections. The new Democratic majorities in Congress can block the sort of noxious measures that the Republican majority rubber-stamped. But preventing new assaults on civil liberties is not nearly enough." much more

They waited this long to speak up? Better late than never, I guess.

Apparently, this was the reason for Coulter calling Edwards a faggot. So, it all makes sense now why the early attack on Edwards!

Dead Eyed Dick better worry about who will take his place. There is someone waiting in the wing wanting Dick's power. That's corporate America!

Regarding the canning of the attorneys, both Senators in NM are trying to play CYA. and they were in the backpocket of certain Congress constitents to pressure Iglesias to push forward the investigation into a Democrat in that state. Iglesias will bust a hole into the WH because he knows which two people in Congress were involved. This opens the door to discussions into a very corrupted 109th Congress. The 109th Congress did a lot more to help the WH than rubber stamping. What else will we find out about the 109th Congress?

Good Evening JB's

The benefit for the new progressive radio station went great! The mod outfit was a hit with my (other;-)homegirls and the boys too (I think they just liked white go-go boots LOL) My silly and sweet friends gave me a full length chinchilla fake fur coat-it is gorgeous!! Prissy is going to need an entire closet of her own soon for wardrobe LOL

"Bin Laden also hoped that such an entrapment would drain the United States financially. Many al Qaeda documents refer to the importance of sapping American economic strength as a step toward reducing America's ability to throw its weight around in the Middle East."

Yes I was thinking about how stupid the neocons were to fall right into his trap-he was so much smarter than these old white guys. OBL wanted, "America to die the death of a thousand cuts". He said we would endlessly chase the ghost of terrorism and bankrupt ourselves, he said it worked with Russia in Afghanistan and it will work with the other superpower too. He was right-our military is broken and so is the economy.
Lucky for us, team Fitz is smarter than them all and so were our founding fathers.

Verdict cannot soon enough, except for the "accessories" to the crime

Yes, this administration was duped because they let hatred, fear and ignorance get the better of them instead of using knowledge, insight and reason to make rational decisions.
