I seen that cartoon earlier, I was hoping you would post it. lol

Someone might have to ask Cheney if he knows the difference between a lie or the truth, like they do to little kids.

Jackie--sure, I would like to see the bad guys have to go stand with their noses in the corner. But, if I have low to no expectations, then I cannot be disappointed later.
;-) Plus, unfortunately, I do not think the Democrats have enough of a spine to impeach. I wish they would find a spine.

Former Fed--My neighbor is a speech expert. We get a kick out of watching Cheney on TV. He has a 'tell' when he is not being truthful.

It would be interesting to have Darth try to tell the truth.. just once! Personally, I don't believe anything he says!

Oh Night Owl have a little faith.
It's not only the Dems that the Bush team have to worry about. Remember the deals that have been made with big business. When the money isn't given freely the business will move on. Nixon resigned because of big business not the impeachment hearing. Also don't count out the American people just yet. We also have to remember that when Iraq gets a new leader and kicks the US out many secrets will come out. As long as Bush/Cheney can pay the silence from those who know, it's ok. Once you stop paying out come the secrets. Look at what happen with Global Warming. Bush said it was nothing God took charge and showed the world it's happening. Just have a little faith my friend it will end with all of the White House going down.

Marcy Wheeler has a great piece on HuffPo about why she doesn't think Libby's defense will call Cheney. I couldn't find it on FDL so I am wondering if she wrote it explicitly for Arianna. It's hard to believe that she's not a lawyer.

Swearing for the Veep is like chewing gum to him. Veep's weakness is his temper, being humiliated, someone challenging him, and power. If you take that away from the Veep, then you just broke the Veep. Cheney wouldn't know that truth if it bit him in the butt. Lying has become natural to him. After all, he is in that corporate world with a corporate mind.

I have more faith in big business having a stronger spine than the Democrats. I saw the Gerbil giving Wall Street a plastic tongue lashing for high CEO pay. He bit the hands that feed him.

I read Emptywheel's posting on why the Veep won't be put on the stand. Here are my thoughts:

If the defense doesn't put the Veep, it leaves the Libby's defense like hole in swiss cheese of the state of mind of Libby. When the defense team fought tooth and nail to try to get as many classified documents for their case to prove how busy Scooter was and also said in their court filing they wanted to put Cheney on the stand to verify how busy Libby was, it leave the jurors with many doubt in their mind whether Libby was truthful that he didn't intend to lie to the FBI and the GJ. Cheney's involvement and actions in this case has been mention many times by the gov;t witness. They are taking that gamble. Addington did damage Libby's defense with theat smoking gun note written by Cheney and Libby, and the chicken scratch with Bush's name crossed out, the scribbling over the date 6/12, and the words stamped TCI and treated as. Let's just say that defense doesn't call Cheney. They have to call Rove. After all, Rove was mentioned in Wells' opening statement that Rove was being protected and Libby was an scapegoat. And Rove is not going down with Libby and let's not forget the sealed vs. sealed with Fitz. If Rove commit perjury on the stand to protect Libby, Rove is hosed. Fitz will have Rove by the cajones.

Libby trial has opened up a can of worm on how far the Administration had gone to punish Wilson and expose his wife covert's identity. Macry talks about the Veep but what about Joe Wilson. Joe Wilson is named as a defense witness. Wilson can be equally dangerous for the defense if he is on the stand.

You are welcome, Fitz. Feel free to take any one of the pic from my blog to post in yours. And what other pics did you take from my blog? LOL!

And that pic of the Veep does fit him very well. If he is put on the stand, he will not be a happy camper.

One of Marcy's points was that it opens up a goldmine for the Wilsons.

This entire case is a gold mine for the Wilsons. And their attorney, Cotchett, is careful watching this case. And that notes of Libby and Cheney and Addington's testimony is a gold mine for the civil lawsuit case. Whether Cheney testifies or not, Cheney is hosed in the civil lawsuit.

And why is Fitz working this weekend. All work no play makes Fitz a dull boy. ;-)

Fitzgerald and Team Libby have filed new briefs arguing about the admission of two Washington Post articles from October, 2003 by Walter Pincus and Mike Allen, both of which were contained in Libby's files and had been underlined in part.

Government Exhibit 422 is a copy of a three-page article by Walter Pincus and Mike Allen entitled, “FBI Agents Tracing Linkage of Envoy to CIA Operative,” which was published in the Washington Post on October 12, 2003.

Government Exhibit 423 is a copy of a two-page article by Walter Pincus and Mike Allen entitled, “Leak of Agent’s Name Causes Exposure of CIA Front Firm,” which was published in the Washington Post on October 4, 2003.

Fitzgerald seeks to introduce this evidence as part of its proof of defendant’s knowledge and intent. Team Libby argues that the articles are overly prejudicial and should be excluded. They argue that they will confuse the jury and cause them to infer Libby has committed a crime with which he is not charged, the leaking of classified information, and the court has ruled that whether Plame actually was covert or not is not an issue before them.

Jan,

A very busy week for me. I got home very late last night. And I had some errands I needs to run today that I didn't do this week. I am blogging while writing an article for Waterflake. I am doing this now so that I can enjoy tomorrow to watch the Superbowl game. How are you doing tonight?

Good cartoon. That first question(Do you promise to tell the truth?) would be a stumper for any Bush type. However, Cheney has his own version of truth and reality, so he can probably answer in the affirmative.

Eriposte is doing a very detailed and wonderful analysis of the evidence coming out of the trial.

(1)He makes it clear that certain redactions to testimony presented to the Senate Security Committee were made, not for security reasons, but to support the WH position that Iraq had indeed sought to buy yellowcake. GOP Senator Pat Roberts was the one who made those those strategic redactions.

(2)Eriposte's analyses also seem to prove that the CIA HAD REPEATEDLY found the Iraq Niger story not creditable. The only way it could have gotten into WH briefings would be if it was inserted by rogue CIA members in WINPAC.

(3)There is also an interesting note of an unprecedented meeting between the Italian Secret Service and Bush. The sequence seems to go like this: the Italians had tried to get the CIA to accept their story of the attempted yellowcake buy, the CIA kept refusing to do so. Someone in Winpac told the pres to go with the 16 words, and had the Italians meet with him to assure him the story was true.

It will make your head ache to try to follow it all, but you can find the posts on FDL and The Left Coaster, if you want to dig into it more.
