"There are 72 House pages, 48 of whom were selected by Republicans and 24 by Democrats. The House page program is administered by the Office of the Clerk and supervised by the House Page Board, chaired by Representative John Shimkus (R-IL). Members of the Page Board include Representatives Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Dale Kildee (D-MI), as well as the Clerk and the Sergeant at Arms of the House." <more>
Among the Republican explanations during the night:
_The congressional sponsor of the page, Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., said he was asked by the youth's parents not to pursue the matter, so he dropped it.
_Alexander said that before deciding to end his involvement, he passed on what he knew to the chairman of the House Republican campaign organization, Rep. Thomas Reynolds, R-N.Y. Reynolds' spokesman, Carl Forti, said the campaign chairman also took no action in deference to the parents' wishes.
_Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill., chairman of the Page Board that oversees the congressional work-study program for high schoolers, said he did investigate but Foley falsely assured him he was only mentoring the boy. Pages are high school students who attend classes under congressional supervision and work as messengers.
_The spokesman for Speaker Dennis Hastert, Ron Bonjean, said the top House Republican had not known about the allegations. Shimkus said he learned about them in late 2005.
I feel no pity for Rep. John "Mark" Carr Foley. Countdown to admission of drinking problem and abuse by priest as a child...

Karma is a b*tch!! Looks like Karma came back and bit Foley in the a*!!!
Republicans were aghast at Clinton's behavior, with many saying it showed he had lied and abused his power.
"It's vile," said Rep. Mark Foley, R-West Palm Beach. "It's more sad than anything else, to see someone with such potential throw it all down the drain because of a sexual addiction."
That was "just sad," Foley said. "It's unbelievable that he could behave so carelessly in that setting."

BEIJING - The former chairman of one of China's biggest banks pleaded guilty to charges that he took bribes to arrange loans, according to a report published Saturday. The plea adds to a string of high-level graft cases at Chinese banks.
Zhang Enzhao resigned 16 months ago as chairman of China Construction Bank Ltd., one of China's top four state-owned banks. The bank said he quit for personal reasons, but later disclosed he was suspected of unspecified wrongdoing.
On Thursday, Zhang pleaded guilty in the Beijing No. 1 Intermediate Court to taking bribes, but he said the amount was lower than the $520,000 cited by prosecutors, the Beijing News reported.
It was the most detailed account yet of the charges against the 60-year-old Zhang.
The report did not say when Zhang might be sentenced or what penalty he might face. A court employee who would give only his surname, Liu, confirmed that Zhang stood trial Thursday but said he did not know the plea or other details.
China's banking industry has been battered by dozens of such cases, usually against managers accused of embezzlement or arranging fraudulent loans.

It is interesting that more and more of these cases are coming to the surface. I wonder if it ties in somewhere to our current problems?
Foley is probably just one among many that seem to have a problem on Capitol Hill or the WH, I wonder how many generations it passed through before being caught? (No thanks to the ones covering it up in the Senate.) For a healthy future, to heal the present, you first must understand the past.
Care about our future, healing the present and our YOUTH to stop this cycle of insanity.
The crime is not only by Foley but also the people that let him get away with it by doing nothing. As Foley has been in office for 12 years how many other children have been victimized. What about the young man's parents who allowed this investigation to be dropped. When we don't protect our children they wont protect us.
Mama don't let your babies grow up to be Pages!
Looks like more neo-con zionists got arrested in China.....
Off to the Hague it is for Zhang and crew!

Washington, D.C., September 29th 2006: “Some very unhappy people here but not about the mid term elections. It seems that after the Second World War, the Soviets captures all of the records of the Nazi concentration camps…from 1935 to 1945….and put them in their archives in Moscow. Because they pretty much knock a hole in the legend of six millions gassed, Jewish groups pressured Russia not to ever allow any researcher to see or copy any of these and for certain, never to release the contents of these files to anyone, ever. Russians are easy to bribe and apparently someone in the States got the whole file (on microfilm) and there is fury and panic over this. Jewish groups have asked the DoJ to declare these “improperly released” classified documents and grab them. Unfortunately, there is no legal basis for doing this. The original documents were German and the microfilms are Russian, not American. Some of these groups have built up a thriving business on the subject and anything concrete that could sink their boat is something not to put up with. This is a subject that most people don’t care about but to those who do, it is a real bell-ringer. All of this hinges on whether or not the present owner got these legally. If our people can’t prove he didn’t, it looks like fun and games in the History department!”

Then there are the records of the Red Cross which (unlike the US prison camps) were given full access to the German camps, even to the point of having observers permanently stationed at some of the camps, and while their records showed large numbers of deaths from typhoid towards the end of the war, plus executions for criminal actions, the records fail to show any indications of a large-scale organized genocide in the camps.
Voice of the White House---spook?
Has people been allowed to conduct any tests they wanted? Wrong doesn't make right, but facts should be known. Afterall, don't our children's textbooks say this about the ovens?
