Rove Said Unfazed by Chance of Charges

Former White House counsel John Dean, who told prosecutors about his own role in Watergate in the 1970s, said Nixon aides who were fighting charges went through great anxiety and spent a lot of time to protect themselves during their final days.

"If Rove is operating as if nothing is going to happen, it is because he has been told nothing is going to happen," Dean said. "Otherwise, he is faking it, and others are protecting him."

Be patient, Roger, it will happen verry sooooon.....

I received an email from Truthout.org regarding the Jason Leopold's story on Saturday. From those who will get naysayers who will say that Rove will not be indicted. Here is a response from Truthout.org:

How Accurate Was the 'Rove Indicted' Story?

"On Saturday afternoon, we ran a breaking story titled, "Karl Rove Indicted on Charges of Perjury, Lying to Investigators." We assumed that we were well ahead of the mainstream media and that we would be subsequently questioned. Right on both counts."

"What everyone is asking right now is how accurate is the story? Has Rove in fact been indicted? The story is accurate, and Karl Rove's attorneys have been served with an indictment."

"In short, we had two sources close to the Fitzgerald investigation who were explicit about the information that we published, and a former high-ranking state department official who reported communication with a source who had "direct knowledge" of the meeting at Patton Boggs. In both instances, substantial detail was provided and matched."

"We had confirmation. We ran the story."

Captain Anon: While you are waiting, write a short but professional letter to all your reps in Congress telling them what you think of these guys--your reps in Congress do want to be reelected in November. ;-) I think most folks in Congress now have an electronic 'letter' message system.

Fitz and team: next on the agenda is the tampering of voting.

Stealing yet along election is just plain despicable.

Here is an excerpt of the Gerbil's speech tonight since no one could care less about the Gerbil. I know in a few days that this "Macarena" dance speech will be yesterday's news in a few days when Fitz has his news conference of Porkrind's indictment! Here is an excerpt od his blah, blah speech from Raw Story:

"UPDATE -- 5:41 p.m.: The White House press office just release excerpts of Bush’s speech tonight. Here’s a sampling of what you can expect to hear.
On the President’s vision for comprehensive immigration reform:
“We are a Nation of laws, and we must enforce our laws. We are also a Nation of immigrants, and we must uphold that tradition, which has strengthened our country in so many ways. These are not contradictory goals – America can be a lawful society and a welcoming society at the same time. We will fix the problems created by illegal immigration, and we will deliver a system that is secure, orderly, and fair.”
On Border Security:
“Since I became President, we have increased funding for border security by 66 percent, and expanded the Border Patrol from about 9,000 to 12,000 agents. . . .we have apprehended and sent home about six million people entering America illegally.
“Despite this progress, we do not yet have full control of the border, and I am determined to change that. Tonight I am calling on Congress to provide funding for dramatic improvements in manpower and technology at the border.”

By DEB RIECHMANN

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush's top political adviser, Karl Rove, arrives at the White House every day wearing a jovial smile that masks his boss' political troubles and his own legal woes.

Rove, the man Bush dubbed ``the architect'' of his re-election, has the arduous task of halting Bush's popularity spiral and keeping Democrats from capturing the House or Senate in November elections - while under the threat of indictment in the CIA leak case.

His friends and colleagues say he's not fazed by his precarious situation.

``Karl's focus is sharper than ever and his spirit is high,'' said Dan Bartlett, White House counselor, downplaying any claims that Rove is distracted. ``He packs more work into one day than most of us get done in a week.''

Rove was asked about his legal problems Monday after a speech on the economy at a conservative think tank, the American Enterprise Institute. He ducked. ``Nice try,'' Rove told the questioner.

If the grand jury weren't in the news, it would be hard to tell that Rove, a deputy White House chief of staff, is waiting to find out if he'll be indicted.

Photo after photo of Rove, who is often seen walking behind Bush on the South Lawn or sitting behind him at meetings, depicts the moonfaced adviser wearing the same smile, one that suggests little about what he might be thinking or feeling.

from talkleft.com:

Luskin Denies Truth of Leopold Article on Karl Rove Indictment

Robert Luskin, Karl Rove's attorney, has officially denied the allegations in Jason Leopold's article reporting Rove has been indicted and that there was a Fitzgerald-Luskin meeting on Friday.

I received the denial directly from Robert Luskin this afternoon.

1. Luskin stands by his April 26 statement in its entirety.

2. Karl Rove's status has not changed. They remain confident Fitzgerald will decline to bring any charges.

3. There is "no truth whatsoever" to any of Jason Leopold's recent stories about Karl Rove's resignation, the alleged meeting in his office or the Indictment. The denial he gave me Saturday night was and was intended to be "all purpose."

4. As far as he knows, Patrick Fitzgerald was in Chicago on Friday.

5. People should not interpret their "unwillingness to comment on every wild and malicious rumor as a change in position."

if they do.the country deserves everything it gets.If the indictments
that are hanging out there --not even PJF"s dosent wake people up to the evil going on then we deserve it--If local officials dont monitor the polling places--again we deserve it--I assure you people will vote but will their vote be counted???

We live in a mockery of a sham of a mockery..

Electronic voting leaves too much to chance for a quick swipe of a database from one column to another. Its a stroke of a key board and that may happen any where in the world on a cell phone, in a kid's room, in a cyber cafe in Mozambique.

Rove Indictment Report Denied

By Staff Reporter of the Sun
May 15, 2006

A spokesman for a top White House aide under scrutiny in a criminal leak probe, Karl Rove, yesterday vigorously denied an Internet report that the political adviser to President Bush was told that he had been indicted on charges of perjury and lying to investigators.

"The story is a complete fabrication," the spokesman for Mr. Rove, Mark Corallo, told The New York Sun. "It is both malicious and disgraceful."

A liberal Web site, Truthout.org, carried a report authored by Jason Leopold, alleging that Mr. Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, was given the indictment during a marathon, 15-hour meeting in Washington Friday with the special prosecutor handling the inquiry, Patrick Fitzgerald. The site also reported that Mr. Rove had advised senior White House officials that he would be indicted.

Mr. Corallo said there was no such meeting Friday, Mr. Luskin was not in his office that morning, and Mr. Fitzgerald was in Chicago. The spokesman said there was no indication that Mr. Fitzgerald has made a decision about whether to seek charges against Mr. Rove in the inquiry.

In response to a query from the Sun yesterday, Mr. Leopold defended the report. "This was a story that we had more than two sources on," he said.
