How interesting! Some key notes:

The Court: “I conclude that it is an interest of justice, if I didn’t previously do so, to permit Mr. Libby to waive his right to a speedy trial so that counsel can be in position to adequately provide representation to him.”

So now, the little soldier waives his right for a speedy trial? This tells me that he knows that he has a uphill battle in this case. And I like the exchange with the little soldier's attorney, Wells, and the court:

Now, Wells says that "With this entire case is about is how Libby and others in the government responded to the controversy that erupted after Mr. Christoph writes this article of May 6 and then Mr. Wilson writes his article about what took place on the trip. What the testimony will show is that it was Mr. Libby position and a position of the Bush Administration." Sorry, Mr. Wells! But, this case is whether the little soldier lied to FBI investigators, made false statements, and passed classified information of a CIA active covert to reporters....

And I like this conversation with Wells and the Court:

Wells: "We have 400 pages of grand jury transcript and much of the transcript involves Mr. Fitzgerald questioning Mr. Libby about the administration's response. But it all revolves around the trip and what started this controversy. The state of the union given back in January---

The Court: "How does this have anything to do with whether Mr. Libby made statements to these various people about the relationship of Ms. Plame and Ambassador Wilson?" Folks, The little soldier and his attorney are riding a dead horse!!!

Here are highlight of Tony Snow job's press confernce with media:

From Thinkprogress:

New White House Press Secretary Tony Snow held his first gaggle this morning. Here are some highlights:

“Can’t comment on national security issues.”

“You’ll forgive me, but I’ll do the talking points on this as the new kid on the block. I’m not fully briefed into everything. I hate to read from a sheet of paper.”

“For today, I am not going to handle international issues or currency issues. I do not wish to set off global tempests. I frankly just don’t know enough on those.”

“I thought this would be nice and congenial and it is obviously just a mess.”

After his performance, ABC’s Chief White House correspondent, Martha Raddatz, described Snow as “a smoothie.”

No comment he says. Well, Gerbil, Snowie is doing a heckva good job is he???

Police hiring hit men, the FBI obstructing justice, and excuses for
abuse, 3

Expose one Connecticut Murder for hire plot, cops hire thugs to kill
you. They fail when you are stabbed 13 times, you wake up in the
hospital, only to be arrested for having been stabbed. Does this sound
like the Twilight Zone? No, it gets better, cops and the FBI now can
state they have the right to confiscate the evidence of police and FBI
misconduct and illegal behavior in that they commit in the process of
violating a citizens rights, saying they have "Homeland Security"
authorization to do as they please and complain and you can be arrested
with no hearing, release date, and no way out.

From Americablog:

Verizon now invoking "secret agent man" excuse for violating their customers' privacy
by John in DC - 5/12/2006 02:35:00 PM

"The email response Verizon is now sending their customers to justify their huge violation of their customers' privacy.

Mr. xxxxx

Verizon appreciates that the media reports about the possibility that the NSA is able to analyze local call data records is causing concern. Please be assured that Verizon places the highest value on protecting the privacy of our customers.

Anything to do with the NSA is highly classified, so I can't comment on whether or not the news article causing concern is even accurate. But I can say that, to the extent that we cooperate with government authorities, we are confident that we are complying with all applicable statutes.

Bob Varettoni
Verizon Media Relations

No problem, Bob. Your customers can move to another carrier that doesn't have a problem saying whether or not they just massively violated their privacy."

STEVE ALMOND
Condoleezza Rice at Boston College? I quit
By Steve Almond | May 12, 2006
An open letter to William P. Leahy, SJ, president of Boston College.

"I am writing to resign my post as an adjunct professor of English at Boston College.
I am doing so -- after five years at BC, and with tremendous regret -- as a direct result of your decision to invite Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to be the commencement speaker at this year's graduation.

But I am not writing this letter simply because of an objection to the war against Iraq. My concern is more fundamental. Simply put, Rice is a liar.
She has lied to the American people knowingly, repeatedly, often extravagantly over the past five years, in an effort to justify a pathologically misguided foreign policy.
The public record of her deceits is extensive. During the ramp-up to the Iraq war, she made 29 false or misleading public statements concerning Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and links to Al Qaeda, according to a congressional investigation by the House Committee on Government Reform."

Waterflake,

Yes, the Gerbil can pardon anyone. But, in his case, he is pretty differcult since he leaked classified information. He violated National security. There is n=so much going on with scandals that leads back to the Gerbil. Now, a NSA whistleblower is testifying in Congress about the wiretapping. And last night, I found another article of a another whistleblower about the wiretapping... Now that Tom DeLay resigned and he was the GOP party backbone, the GOP is now weakening andwill change the nature of the GOP in November... I sent you a link of Jason Leopold's interview about the leak case. It iwll be enlighteningto you!

Roger,

Well, I know that the Gerbil and company are changing the rules on protecting whistleblowers. It does take a lot of guts and risk to come forward to speak the truth. Until we remove the Gerbil from office, I know that it is a uphill battle for the whistleblower. I know the ex-CIA officer, John Doe, is having differculties defending his rights, since the CIA and Porter Goss have tempted to have his case dismissed serval times because he had information about the WMD. When Rove beocmes indicted, this will be a good sign of the house of card falling... But, I understand that you have to do whatyou have to do to protect you.. But, hopefully, sooner of later (once the key corrupted people are removed) we will hear your findings....I will check my email!

West Point Graduates Against The War: Now Is The Time

West Point Graduates Against the War

Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war,
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.
Julius Caesar

Why?

We members of West Point Graduates Against The War stand appalled at the deceitful behavior of the government of the United States and, in particular, its widely known malefactors. Their lying, cheating, stealing, and rendition of evasive statements not only has demeaned these deceivers and our country, but they have placed vast numbers of innocent people in deadly peril as a direct result of their deceptions. We will not serve these lies, that is, we will not work for, be a servant to, provide for, assist, or promote the interests of this dishonorable administration. By remaining silent we tacitly serve; we are no longer silent.

The illegal assault and occupation in Iraq has killed tens of thousands of innocents, both American, Iraqi, and others, causing incalculable damage to Iraq and the Iraqi people, as well as the reputation and honor of the United States of America.

Karl Rove told President Bush and Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten, as well as a few other high level administration officials, within the last week that he will be indicted in the CIA leak case and will immediately resign his White House job when the special counsel publicly announces the charges against him, according to people knowledgeable about these discussions.

Roger: His name is Robert not Richard. And I think we are going to be hearing about Promis or its modifications for a very long time. It is my belief (and many others) that it is directly tied to the death of hundreds of scientists and microbiologists that have come up dead worldwide in a short space of time.
Promis has the capability to sequence DNA and can create Race specific diseases among its many capibilities other than vote tampering. It is a worse nightmare than
anything devised by mankind ever and capable of wiping out a good portion of mankind. I know Bill Hamilton must be in deep sorrow that his contribution to society has gone so terribly wrong, he is a decent man in my opinion.

Porkrinds roasting on an open fire,

Fitzmas carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed all in orange clothes.

Everybody knows a Grand Jury and some mistletoe,
Helps to make the season bright.
Fitz’s bloggers with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Fitz is on his way;
He's loaded lots of indictments on his sleigh.
And every CIA Agent is going to spy,
To see if Turdblossom really knows how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To bloggers from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
A very Merry Fitzmas to you!

First Impressions

I really enjoyed the full transcript!
The only qualifications I bring to comment on the transcript is my IQ. ( It's over 150, but I'm not saying how much, tho. Sometimes it's a blessing, sometimes it's a curse - depends on how I feel and what I'm doing)

There's alot of "show-me-yours and I'll show you mine" - but with lots and lots of rules!

(Guess nobody wants to see something they secretly want to see by surprise - tho, it's more fun that way, depending on who you are)

"23 MR. WELLS: I couched the request as Brady, and Brady trumps Jencks."

(Almost sounded like poker there!)

My favorite part:

MR. WELLS: "Just so the record is clear what the grand jury testimony is. He said that the disclosure of the material was a go, then it was a stop and then it was a go."

(I didn't know the WH Administration played that game!! I NEVER saw them on the white house lawn playing the "Red Light! Green Light!" game! It's alot of fun, tho, till you get caught - I never reach the light!)

Sometimes Mr. Wells sounds hungry, but I'm sure he's speaking figuratively again....

"6 MR. WELLS: What I'm saying is you can't slice it that thin because what was going on in reality were discussions about the trip of which the wife was this piece and what the
government is arguing is that I can't show the jury the whole picture. That's what you are depriving me of, being able --

Well, thank you all! I learned really alot! (PJF's primers - explanations imbedded in his blogs really helps, too)

Rule 16, Brady, Rule 17, Giglio, Jencks, 302s', Section 4, CIPA, and on and on...

...and I know all this is beyond serious, it's a life/death struggle for democrarcy...I needed to humour myself for one second - it helps from going bonkers.
