Would President Hastert Pardon...

the former Commander and Chief?

An exercise in the hypothetical...

Yes he could and its been done before. But Hastert has his own problems to get through. So your question should be will the next elected Commander-in-Chief pardon Bush. We my little angel will see this country have its first election of the President of the United States early due to the corrupt line in the White House. No we wont be the first country to do it but it will be the first in our history. Think about it for a while ok.

The line of succession for President if both Bush and Cheney resign is the previous Vice President!

Your pal Al is ready to serve!

Would President Hastert Pardon ..
* how weak would the Republican party be [this is directly correlated to your other posting on Abramoff and the rush to give back his gifts, er, a little late to THAT party they are]
* if the Republican party is weak, Hastert may also be undone in part by the Abramoff/Delay scandals which abound
* after Hastert, is there an election. Then I think we're looking at

PRESIDENT MCCAIN.

I'm good with that!

History does repeat itself. Hastert could pardon the mangler-in-chief just as Ford pardoned Nixon full immunity. What is amazing is that Bush's reasons for spying on Americans comes from the same page in history in the Nixon era. In Woodward's book, The Secret Man, on page. 146, Reagan gave Mark Felt full immunity " In a five paragraph statement , President Reagan said the actions of the two (meaning Felt and Edward Miller) grew out of good faith belief that their actions were necessary to preserve the security interests of their country. America was at war in 1972 and Mssrs. Felt and Miller followed procedures they believed essential to keep the Director of FBI, the Attorney General, and the President of the United States advised of the activities of hostile foreign powers and their collaborators in this country."

Prsctr Bil and PJF

Was FBI Director Mueller a part of the secret spying 'approval' process. . .

whom else was a part of this 'spying approval' process..
* the secret court, troubling
* any of the Supremes? -->more troubling
* CIA/DHS/FBI/State Dept?

you've got a cast of characters ..
seriously, I think we'll be fine with a
PRESIDENT MCCAIN
until
'08
when we have a
PRESIDENT FITZGERALD!

ALL GOOD!

6 miles from the epicenter:

Remember Bush and Cheney are using the same methods in the Nixon administration. After all, Cheney did work in the Nixon era. Woodward's book gives a lot of education which parallel to Bush's methodologies. In Woodward's book, Nixon believed that he had the authority to order break-ins if the national security was threatened and he had to delegated that authority to the FBI director. I believe that Mueller is part of the spying approval process but I think that the final approval came from Bush. Remember Bush feels that he is the all and powerful Oz. As Abraham Lincoln says: "To test a man's character, give him power." Bush has taken the same technique as Nixon but the only problem is in 1972, we had the Vietnam war but 2 years ago, we invaded a country on false pretenses rather than the country attacking us.

Keep the military around you at all times Pat, once Rove goes down this is going to get ugly.

These neocon zionist bastards are going to try to "terrorize" everybody...

I've met a few of these nutcases in real life, one even tried to steal and I nailed the jackass.

Jews are all open deceivers, except for the other 60% of christian jews anyway which I don't consider to be jewish either. They all respect and tolerate christ.

After all thats what christians do..

So why doesn't AIPAC, ADL, not to mention the PNAC cabal NOT accept Christ?

Ahhh the ultimate hoax is afoot I believe....these guys equal Zionist Jews(Khazar) who have never been anything BUT Zionist.

Prsctr Bil & PJF
is Pres Bush so maleable by the power hungry Cheneys, Roves, Rummys, that he'll go along with whatever schematic they dream up .. I'm curious to gain some insight in to whom is really pulling the string on the infamous biscuit of power out of Washington. My fear is, its a 'shared' chair and hence, not coherent strategy, without a proper course [take note of Iraq -- no exit, no plan, etc].. some days, its Rove, some days its Cheney, some days it may be Bush, perhaps not. This is where the shell game gets played infinitum against you and your team Fitz ==> what I call 'chasing the biscuit'.. some one holds the string on the biscuit, and the sharpestdog needs to keep hunting, following the scent, to keep chasing it, not ever in the same place, same direction --> again ..as its not necessarily coherent..

Fitz, if Hastert is caught up in the Abramoff morass, as a number of potentially on both sides of the aisle . . you'll need to size up the end-game [as I'm sure you're already doing] as to whom is left standing in the corrupt Congress, and most importantly, whom will be sitting in the Oval chair with his finger on the button..
I vote for a fireside chat tete a tete with McCain ... he has the diplomacy, the international experience to take the helm.

Not many others do, that are in the line of potential succession in a mid-term election. It must and cannot be, a free-for-all-get-my-face-in-the-media-buy-the-election frenzy, which, many of the Dems and Reps clamour for more than the course and direction we as a country need.

You've just got to get to McCain somehow. .. . he, as far as I can tell, is uncorruptable and cannot be bought. Many of the others, well, I just shake my head. Unless of course, you're on a ticket for a mid-term election-!

My 2 cents.

You've got a lot to think about to get to 'end-game' and steady-state.

Well I guess we get Stevens, unless he's caught up in the corruption; we already know Condi is, so that leads to Snow as Rummy, Gonzales are caught up in it as well [the spying aspect, dunno about Abramoff]; then after Snow, we're at Norton.

Line of Succession:
1. Vice President (Richard B. Cheney)
2. Speaker of the House of Representatives (J. Dennis Hastert)
3. President pro tempore of the Senate (Ted Stevens)
4. Secretary of State (Condoleezza Rice)
5. Secretary of the Treasury (John W. Snow)
6. Secretary of Defense (Donald H. Rumsfeld)
7. Attorney General (Alberto Gonzales)
8. Secretary of the Interior (Gale Norton)
9. Secretary of Agriculture (Mike Johanns)
10. Secretary of Commerce (Carlos Gutierrez, ineligible)
11. Secretary of Labor (Elaine Chao, ineligible)
12. Secretary of Health and Human Services (Michael Leavitt)
13. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (Alphonso Jackson)
14. Secretary of Transportation (Norman Y. Mineta)
15. Secretary of Energy (Samuel W. Bodman)
16. Secretary of Education (Margaret Spellings)
17. Secretary of Veterans Affairs (Jim Nicholson)

Why would the president be Kerry-since he actually won the election.

(See GAO report on 2000 and 2004 elections-especially FL and OH)

I will never trust a damn thing Kerry does until he admits he's a devout catholic and tears up all affiliation to the AIPAC.

His uncle was a Talmud worshipper.

Screw that half-jew Kerry until he decides once and for all, he is not one of these zionists!!

Give it to McCain, Feingold

McCain is not better. Oh, I'll grant you-he on occassion says or does something lucid.

But any man, a decorated Veteran at that, who allowed the Bush cabal to say he fathered children out-of-wedlock in 'Nam and that his wife was a drug addict, amongst others and yet McCain still wanted a kiss from Dubya on his birthday...he is no better than any other politician-in fact he is worse because he is so inconsistent!

What's with all the posts about the Jews anonymous? Yes I may be somewhat ignorant in regards to what you are talking about but you come across as rather anti-semetic and well, a bit crazy.

You lower the bar on this site - in particular this site. If I don't know what you are talking about, I imagine many of us don't. Raise the bar, please.

And Jesus was Jewish too, right?

Contessa I too worked for McCain in '99

After South Carolina I have never fully recovered and can't believe McCain got over what was said and done to him.

So you see having Karl Rove stripped out of Washington is important - [Fitz please don't let him get away with nothing]

I believe John McCain would have been a far better leader then Bush - (Is there ever someone in DC we love to just hate?)

If you think about the push to have someone like Alfred E Neu.. I mean Bush in power the way it started in S Carolina there is/was a huge agenda -

I did vote for Al Gore
and proudly for Kerry -
After S Carolina and the anal prod they did to McCain.. I could never support Bush and shame on you Johnny Mac for shaking his hand etc.

Hoping there was a late day press breaking hope that Fitmas was here.

The Patriot Act was extended to only 5 weeks instead of 6 months. So, I do think the Patriot Act is going to be the big topic for 2006 since Bush is steadfast on continuing spying on Americans.

Several members of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court said in interviews that they want to know why the administration believed secretly listening in on telephone calls and reading e-mails of U.S. citizens without court authorization was legal. Some of the judges said they are particularly concerned that information gleaned from the president's eavesdropping program may have been improperly used to gain authorized wiretaps from their court.
~~~
First is the hypothesis by legal means or cronYism?
First, the main SIGNALS intelligence is outside of the United States and built with little no congressional oversight, this facility is Menwith Hill, and, of course they have BEEN monitoring emails and phone calls, ISPS, for code words using cray type computers, say a BAD WORD and the logging begins.
NOW, if this were a truly Democratic Republic, which it isnt, the congress would have known about Menwith.
Some Do.
No President of the US has ever been charged with War crimes, or fomenting war such as Gulf of Tonkin ALTERED SIGINT, or Pearl Harbor SIGINT.
On McCain and the dirty tactics from within his own party some 6 years ago:
* hmmm: McCain still has class, cannot say that for the other Repubs
* politics: its business and McCain knows where these cockroaches eminate from
* as for stumping for Chimpy: don't believe you'd catch him doing that now
* hmm: how'd he exactly get Chimpy to stop the torture? . .
HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WOULD, COULD and DID ...
The DEMS need to step up their game to keep up with McCain. . .
Then again, my vote is for Fitz in '08!
