Justice Department and FBI Unveil Measures to Enhance National Security Oversight

WASHINGTON – Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, Assistant Attorney General for National Security Kenneth L. Wainstein and FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III today announced a series of comprehensive measures to significantly enhance national security oversight and compliance at the Justice Department and FBI.

Among the primary components of this oversight effort, which has been in the works for months, are the proposed launch of two offices to conduct reviews, compliance activities, and training. The first is a dedicated Oversight Section within the Justice Department’s National Security Division. The second is a proposed Office of Integrity and Compliance at the FBI.

The oversight and compliance programs run by these offices will be at the forefront of the Justice Department’s ongoing efforts to ensure that national security investigations are conducted in a manner consistent with the nation’s laws, regulations, and policies, including those designed to protect the privacy interests and civil liberties of U.S. citizens.

“The top priority of the Department is to protect the nation from terrorist attack. At the same time, we have an important obligation to make sure the tools we use to prevent terrorism also protect the civil liberties of our citizens,” said Attorney General Gonzales. "This effort helps us achieve these objectives by enhancing internal controls over the Department’s national security activities.”

Now we have to have a new office to keep justice just...

Jan:

It is another pet project for Gonzo. Now that information has been released from FBI files of certain investigations that weren't conducted property, Gonzo is trying to hang on to his job by creating a Dept. to protect this nation from National Security. Gonzo is simply passing the buck of his errors to another new department.

We don't need another new created department. Gonzo needs to be removed to bring back integrity and a decent budget to the Justice Dept. The morale in the Justice Dept. is so low that this new pet project won't help Gonzo.

Same thing diffrent day for Gonzo.
Got to run...

Talking to people tonight who are ready to leave the country. They think even though bush is nearly over and will likely not serve his term out, that it will take a life time to undo the damage he has done to the US.

I try to be optimistic, but if I stay in USA, it will be massive gardening, electric car and windmill electricity for me. As disengaged from corporate America as possible.

Judge Walton only has to be told the President is an idiot and can't read. Bush wouldn't understand even if it were explained to him. He publicly said he was given a college degree because he was drunk for four years. His Father brought his degree from Texas. That' not unusual for rich people to do for their kids. Now we see the result of that purchase. Walton earned his degree so it would be hard to understand how an idiot got to be President but it's all about the money. The entire Justice System is messed up. Gonzo is in the job to take orders from Karl Rove. Cheney could care less as he works on getting more money from the US Treasury. Maybe Mr. Black can buy his way to one of those pardons that Bush gives out.

How do you figure that ms. kitty? Meee-oow... Disengagement from corporations does not equal disengagement from people-only from energy dependence. I'm not an over consumer and shopping is not my hobby. I received 'best dressed' at a social event for a governor. Funny to me, since I only spent $15 on my outfit.

I'm what you'd call a true "conservative" and a social "liberal."
Unlike today's so called "conservatives" I conserve resources-not the freedom and liberty of others. You know, reduce, reuse and recycle.

Yes, Jackie I agree that's what is the worst-Rove is really in charge and the whole world acts impotent to take down a coward. Time for the Marines to go in and get him...Speaking of KKKarl, several of us have more war crimes and civil rights evidence abuses for the right prosecutor. You'll love the witnesses-they blow Karl away on credibility.
Karl has been known to say "They f*%k with us and we'll f*&k them over." Yeah Karl, I know. Everyone does...

US Senate Computer Used For Louisiana David Vitter Talking Points

I wonder if Vitter only apologized because he got caught? Did he apologize for being so judgemental of Bill Clinton or Hillary for choosing to stay with her husband?

New Woes For Senator Caught In Sex Scandal, Former New Orleans Madam Says Sen. David Vitter Was Once A Client - CBS News

"Jeanette says that most of the clients who wanted to be dominated were Republicans. She cracks a smile, then adds, "They wanted to be spanked and tortured and wear stockings--Republicans have impeccable taste in silk stockings--and these are the people who run our country."

"They wanted to be spanked and tortured and wear stockings--Republicans have impeccable taste in silk stockings-"

I could say something to that comment, but I wont. Like the Momma said .... Woman have to be ladies.

These men paid for their sexual fantasies. And the "girls" were consenting adults who made a lot of money.

What is wrong with that?

Nice pic-that Judge Reggie wears the snazziest ties in Washington.

Once the government is under control and we have time for fun matters of culture Americana- I nominate him for "best ties on the bench" award!

Kitty, I gotta give Ms Palfrey a lot of credit for tapping into that particular market.

Got a point there. Somehow I cannot evisage any of Ms Palfrey's girls standing on a street corner.

Although its a good market to tap into safety and probably health wise, the vision of some overaged, horny man right or left pawing at me turns my stomach.

Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. There is a market up and down market.

Id lay there and instead of thinking of England think of the tip. hehehehe

But thats the way it is, or was.
