Court Denies Libby Ploy To Remain Free
A federal appeals court ruled today that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Cheney's former chief of staff, must report to prison shortly to begin serving his 30-month sentence for lying to federal investigators about his role in leaking a CIA officer's identity.
In a one-paragraph order, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit denied Libby's request to remain free while he appeals his conviction for perjury and obstruction of justice.
The judges said that Libby's appeal does not raise "a substantial question" close enough that it is likely his conviction will be overturned. <more>

Finally...
Don't bend over for the soap, Scooter!
MSNBC says Bush just commuted Libby's sentence.
...
Unflippingbeliveable
The official said Bush "has commuted the prison sentence ... leaving intact the probation and fines handed down by the court."
"That means he is not going to jail," the official said.

Bush good luck justifying this one...may he reap what he has sown.
I sure hope Team Fitz has one helluva retort for this injustice.
I just heard. A collegue told me. I did say that regardless of Bush's decision on Libby that Bush's presidency is finished. He just shown the public the true meaning of the word "corruption" is from his actions after the decision from the appellate court. Of course, this was Dick Cheney's decision and not Bush. But, they both had a lot in stake if Libby was jailed. Bush had to choose between legacy vs.loyalty. And he chose loyalty.
I'm pissed!!
This was a lovely blog posst
