Oh, this is too fantastic. I will be in London in May and regale my friends with this story.
It also shows how a rumor can come out like fact. In our case, it was to support and honor a terrific public servant, vent a little, share some information, and most of all to know there were others out there who believe in truth and justice.

Fitz I know the real you will be watching from afar, and I just had a comment, inner confessions.
I feel the political parties are ultimately powerless to resolve this situation, as I belong to neither, and they are all still compromised by the same menacing force.
But in that vein, I am hopeful to see you still applaud the efforts of the Jury.
A Jury is Justice
So I hope that all of these crimes will be made public, no longer secret, and the unflintering stench of the American Turkish Counsel is laid bare.
I hope we can, through the power of Jury nullification and duty, force the Senate/Congress and its mainstay to convict these criminals and with it may Cheney be forever finished.
As I am very clear and make no mistake of, we will have to fight and force them to finish the job.
But we can finish these criminals if we do the job, and we simply let the Jury process take its course.
Grand Juries in every place, every locality of every creed, will permanently stop AIPAC or the American Turkish Counsel. It will put the real culprits into prison, and it will get very ugly.
But it is our only true vestige, those that believe in the power of law will lay bare the facts of who Sibel Edmonds is and all witnessed.
As that will bring conclusion and resolution, so that this never happens again- and so that Europe can also make sure it never happens again.

International law now vital: Fitzgerald Prosecutor talks to U.S. lawyers visiting Dublin

DUBLIN, Ireland -- American prosecutors increasingly have to be aware of other countries' laws, Patrick Fitzgerald, Chicago's U.S. attorney, told a gathering of lawyers here Friday.
One example would be a prosecutor trying to go after a child molester who puts footage of his actions on the Internet. A prosecutor would need to be familiar with the laws of the country in which the transmission originates, Fitzgerald said.
"We used to think of prosecutions of conduct happening outside the United States as coming once in a blue moon, but I think we're going to start seeing this a lot more frequently," Fitzgerald said.
Taking the tougher route
When Fitzgerald went to Kenya in 1998 to investigate the bombing of the U.S. Embassy there, he and his team decided to follow both American and Kenyan law until they decided which country they would file charges in.
"If there were two ways of doing it, we would do it the harder way so it would stand up in court in either place," he said.
That meant that instead of letting a witness sit behind a one-way mirror and point out a suspect from a lineup of six people, as U.S. law requires, witnesses had to come face-to-face with a lineup of nine people, then walk up and place their hand on the shoulder of the suspect they identified, as required under Kenyan law.
Kenya does not guarantee suspects the right to an attorney, and the New York judge who tried the case was not satisfied Fitzgerald's team had satisfied their obligation under American law to educate the suspect of his right to an attorney and so dismissed some parts of the man's confession.
But both suspects were convicted anyway.
Took no class
Fitzgerald was one of the 63 percent of American lawyers who took no international law class in law school.
"I thought that was for students who studied Spanish or French. When you're from Brooklyn, you're working on English as your first language," he quipped.
The audience of mostly American lawyers at the Chicago Bar Association-sponsored seminar included Mike Madigan, speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, and eight current and former state and federal judges.

U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald was ranked among prosecutors who had "not distinguished themselves" on a Justice Department chart sent to the White House in March 2005, when he was in the midst of leading the CIA leak investigation that resulted in the perjury conviction of a vice presidential aide, administration officials said yesterday.
The ranking placed Fitzgerald below "strong U.S. Attorneys . . . who exhibited loyalty" to the administration but above "weak U.S. Attorneys who . . . chafed against Administration initiatives, etc.," according to Justice documents.
The chart was the first step in an effort to identify U.S. attorneys who should be removed. Two prosecutors who received the same ranking as Fitzgerald were later fired, documents show.
Fitzgerald's ranking adds another dimension to the prosecutor firings, which began as a White House proposal to remove all 93 U.S. attorneys after the 2004 elections and evolved into the coordinated dismissal of eight last year, a move that has infuriated lawmakers and led to calls for Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales to resign.
The Justice Department last night gave the House and Senate Judiciary committees 3,000 pages of new documents related to the firings, including one e-mail that says Gonzales was "extremely upset" by Senate testimony Feb. 6 from his deputy, Paul J. McNulty. Gonzales felt that "some of the . . . statements were inaccurate," the e-mail says.
Justice officials said Gonzales specifically disagreed with McNulty's statement that a Little Rock prosecutor was fired to make way for a GOP operative. They also said the new documents show that political motivations were not a factor in the firings.
The latest revelations came amid reports that the White House has already launched a search for Gonzales's replacement and that support for the attorney general among Republicans in Congress is fading fast. One GOP strategist with close ties to the White House said last night that it is likely Gonzales will leave and that White House counsel Fred F. Fielding already has potential replacements in mind.
White House press secretary Tony Snow offered tepid support for Gonzales, saying President Bush still has full confidence in his longtime friend and ally. "We hope he stays," Snow said.
The March 2005 chart ranking Fitzgerald and other prosecutors was drawn up by Gonzales aide D. Kyle Sampson and sent to then-White House counsel Harriet Miers. The reference to Fitzgerald is in a portion of the memo that Justice has refused to turn over to Congress, officials told The Washington Post, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the Fitzgerald ranking has not been made public.
At the time, Fitzgerald was leading the independent probe into the leak of the identity of a CIA operative, which led this month to the perjury conviction of former vice presidential aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. Fitzgerald, the U.S. attorney in Chicago, also had recently brought a corruption indictment in Illinois against former Republican governor George H. Ryan.
A Justice Department official yesterday sought to play down the importance of Fitzgerald's ranking, saying the chart was "put together by Sampson and is not an official department position on these U.S. attorneys."
Sampson resigned as Gonzales's chief of staff last week, and his attorney declined to comment yesterday.
Mary Jo White, who supervised Fitzgerald when she served as the U.S. attorney in Manhattan and who has criticized the firings, said ranking him as a middling prosecutor "lacks total credibility across the board."
"He is probably the best prosecutor in the nation -- certainly one of them," said White, who worked in the Clinton and Bush administrations. "It casts total doubt on the whole process. It's kind of the icing on the cake."
Fitzgerald has been widely recognized for his pursuit of criminal cases against al-Qaeda's terrorist network before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and he drew up the official U.S. indictment against Osama bin Laden. He was named as special counsel in the CIA leak case in December 2003 by then-Attorney General John D. Ashcroft, who had recused himself.
Fitzgerald also won the Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service in 2002 under Ashcroft.
Justice spokeswoman Tasia Scolinos said yesterday that "Pat Fitzgerald has a distinguished record as one of the most experienced and well-respected prosecutors at the Justice Department. His track record speaks for itself."
But Fitzgerald also came under sharp criticism from many Republicans and press advocates for his aggressive pursuit of the Libby case.
The March 2, 2005, memo from Sampson came in response to a proposal floated by Miers to remove all U.S. attorneys during Bush's second term. Fitzgerald was placed in a middle category among his peers: "No recommendation; have not distinguished themselves either positively or negatively."
Although the ranking meant Sampson was not recommending those prosecutors for removal at the time, two U.S. attorneys who received the same ranking were fired last Dec. 7: Daniel G. Bogden of Nevada and Paul K. Charlton of Arizona.
Two prosecutors who were listed in the top category on Sampson's chart were also fired: David C. Iglesias in New Mexico and Kevin V. Ryan in San Francisco.
Two administration officials said Fitzgerald was never included on later lists of U.S. attorneys targeted for removal by Sampson, who has been portrayed by administration officials and documents as being in charge of the firings effort.
Sampson's memo was among more than 140 pages of documents sent to congressional investigators last week, but the names of most of the prosecutors and their rankings had been deleted. Senate Judiciary Committee investigators have been demanding an unredacted version of the memo, but the administration has refused to provide it, according to a Justice official and a Democratic Senate aide.
Administration officials said they do not know why Sampson put Fitzgerald in the "not distinguished" category. Bush said last year that Fitzgerald had done "a very professional job" in the CIA leak investigation.
The thousands of pages of documents released last night highlight the tension among the highest officials at the Justice Department as they struggled to cope with the firings and the resulting public outcry.
In the wake of McNulty's Feb. 6 appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Gonzales was furious with how the deputy attorney general characterized the departure of Little Rock U.S. Attorney Bud Cummins, which was explained as a move to insert Tim Griffin, a former White House political aide, into the slot.
In an e-mail, Justice's deputy communications director, Brian Roehrkasse, wrote to Sampson and another aide: "The attorney general is extremely upset with the stories on US attys this morning. He also thought some of the DAG's statements were inaccurate. . . . I think from a straight news perspective we just want the stories to die."
Roehrkasse said in a statement last night: "The Attorney General was upset because he believed Bud Cummins' removal involved performance considerations and it was that aspect of [McNulty's] testimony the Attorney General was questioning."
Another e-mail exchange shows that Sampson and McNulty aide Michael Elston did not want the fired federal prosecutors to testify before the Senate committee, a position that seems to support an allegation by Cummins that Elston threatened to retaliate against the former U.S. attorneys if they continued speaking out. Justice officials said last night that McNulty later verbally told Elston to not take a position on testimony.
On Dec. 5, two days before seven U.S. attorneys were fired, McNulty admitted in an e-mail to Sampson that he was having second thoughts about firing Bogden, the U.S. attorney for Nevada, whose record provided no obvious performance issues or policy differences. McNulty also said he had not reviewed Bogden's performance before including him in the dismissal group.
"I'm a little skittish about Bogden," McNulty wrote. "He has been with DOJ since 1990 and, at age 50, has never had a job outside of government. My guess is he was hoping to ride this out well into '09 or beyond. I'll admit [I] have not looked at his district's performance."
The e-mails detail some of the personal and financial hardships the fired prosecutors have been going through -- particularly Margaret Chiara of Grand Rapids, Mich., who begged for help finding another job.

NEW YORK (March 22, 2007) -- Charlie Sheen has been lined up to take part in a 9/11 documentary, his reps confirmed to Access Hollywood.
Sheen is involved in the production of "Loose Change," a new version of a documentary suggesting the US government was behind the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks. The current version of the documentary is availabe on YouTube.
The actor's reps declined to reveal more details about Sheen's involvement in the project, but Page Six reports he will be narrating a new version of the film.

If George W. Bush launches a preemptive war on Iran, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will bear responsibility for that war.

According to John Nichols of The Nation, Pelosi's decision to strip the provision barring Bush from attacking Iran without Congress' approval "sends the worst possible signal to the White House."

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald has heard no shortage of jokes about a recent revelation that a top Department of Justice aide rated him as "mediocre."
Fitzgerald tried to take it in stride in his first media availability since returning from winning a conviction against Vice President Dick Cheney's top aide, I. Lewis Libby, in Washington, D.C.
Not 'one toe in that pool'
"Look, really it's not that big a deal to me," Fitzgerald said. "I just do my job . .. I think I've done the best job I can and that's all I can expect myself to do."
Fitzgerald sidestepped questions about a growing scandal in Alberto Gonzales' office over the firing of eight U.S. attorneys nationwide.
"I've just stepped out of the D.C. fishbowl and I'm not looking to plunge back in," Fitzgerald said. "There's no way I'm putting one toe in that pool and not going head first."
" Instead, the mangled body of the 56-year-old retired firefighter from New York City was shipped back to his family in June 2004 in the bloodied clothes in which he died, with half of his head blown away, according to Zbryski's brother Richard.
"I viewed the body," Richard Zbryski said. "What really upset me was that he was laying there floating in at least 6 inches of his own body fluids. They didn't even clean him up for us."

Last summer, federal agents investigated allegations of abuse following a riot at the Evins Regional Juvenile Center in Edinburg. The findings of that investigation are still pending, as is a multimillion-dollar civil rights lawsuit filed by several students. Statewide, the agency suffered a 48 percent turnover rate among staff last year. The recidivism rate for inmates, Harris told the panel, is hovering around 50 percent. Yet Harris was clearly not prepared when Sen. Juan Hinojosa, a Democrat from McAllen, asked about an alleged case of sex abuse by staff members at the West Texas State School in the rural town of Pyote west of Odessa.
The incident was a particularly ugly one, though few people outside the Permian Basin have ever heard of it. Following an investigation by the Texas Rangers and the FBI in February and March 2005, two of the highest-ranking officials at the school—the assistant superintendent, Ray Brookins, and the principal, John Paul Hernandez—were accused of having sexual relations with several students over an extended period. Both men denied the allegations, but investigators collected dozens of statements from students and staff, conducted polygraph tests on students, and collected DNA samples from semen-stained carpet and furniture at the school, according to a TYC inspector who assisted with the investigation. Yet there has been virtually no mention of the case in the media since the two men resigned nearly two years ago, nor have there been any arrests. Harris told the Senate panel that the investigation was closed. He also asserted it was the agency that alerted the Texas Rangers to the case and that his staff had done everything in their power to address the problems at Pyote.

Lewis was convicted in 1999 of indecency by exposure with a 5-year-old girl, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety Web site listing sex offenders.
Because he was a juvenile at the time, Lewis was sent to a Youth Commission facility, where he served an indeterminate sentence. After his release, he registered as a sex offender in June 1999, according to the Web site. He is required to register annually.

So Wilkes was trying to get funding for two new businesses.
One was tied to the 2002 anthrax scare, when tainted letters were sent to Capitol Hill. Wilkes' idea was to have all Capitol Hill mail rerouted to a site in the Midwest, where ADCS employees wearing protective suits would scan it into computers and then e-mail it back to Washington.
He called his proposed solution MailSafe – similar to the names of several anti-anthrax companies launched at that time – and began vying for federal contracts, even though the company had little to its name other than a rudimentary Web site.
The House Administration Committee, on which Doolittle sat, oversees the congressional mail system. Doolittle told his colleagues about MailSafe and introduced them to Wilkes, but the project never got off the ground."

When asked how he communicated, one aide pulled out a new personal cellphone and said, ‘texting.’”

"Pat was used," she said. "Once he was killed, I think they saw this as an opportunity." She noted that April 2004 was the worst month up to that time in the year-old Iraq war, and the shooting occurred right after the Abu Ghraib scandal broke.
The latest investigation "only presented the points of view of the soldiers in the vehicle" who fatally shot her son and an Afghan soldier and wounded two others, she said.
