Scooter Libby, in the EOB, with the V.P.

Libby Live: Zeidenberg’s Prosecution Summation Two

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a case about lying, Not conspiracy, No WH conspiracy, no NBC conspiracy; Libby not here because of bad conduct of others. He's here because of his own decision. He decided to lie to the GJ. When you consider all the evidence, the govt has established that the defendant lied to the FBI, lied to GJ, obstructed justice.

Great job Peter you explained so well a 5 year old could understand.
Now for Libby to found innocent the jurors have to believe that all the witnesses are lying and that Libby knew nothing about CIA agent or anything that was going on during the Fitz time line. Plus Libby would have been born with a small brain that never developed to store memory. I love the scapegoat come back yet it was never addressed after Wells told us about it.

Wells:

LIbby did something only an innocent person would do , got to VP, I didn't do anything. Clear suggestion once they cleared Rove, He goes to VP, only an innocent person would do this, VP writes in his own handwriting, It's not right to clear Rove and sacrifice Libby. It was written and it exists. [Damn Wells is setting himself to get REAMED since the note says nothing about Rove.]
--------------

That statement that he could not rule it out is totally contrary to what he told you on witness stand. Those counts rely almost exclusive on Russert's testimony. [This is total BS–there's one charge that relates entirely to Libby's knowledge. Fitz is going to have a field day]

Innocent mistake many times

If the jurors see this as a defense Abramoff and others will appeal under this finding. Our courts will be loaded with ops it was a good faith mistake that I lied. I keep thinking of Bill Clinton's impeachment case as would that have been allowed? Last I heard Children make mistakes because they haven't learned truth/lie but adults know the difference or maybe the defense should be Libby hasn't fully grown up yet there for it was a childs mistake. Something to think over.

I am still wrapping my head around the fact that in response to Mr Z’s excellent narrative that Wells started off by basically admitting that he was already drinking at such an early hour.

I would be too if I had to look forward to another couple of years of holding poor little Scooter’s hand while feilding phone calls from the likes of Barbara Comstock and Victoria Toensing.

Hopefully he will find some comfort in his bank balance…

I just have to say this. With the story Wells is telling the court it would make the jurors believe Harry Potter is real and Peter Pan can fly. We all love a fairy tale but it's for children. Wells has lost the facts to the case and allowed good faith as excuse to lie and innocent mistake to cover that lie. Only the person knows why he/she had to lie and that's why they are entitled to a defense. To bad Libby and his attorneys didn't bother to defend his actions when given the chance. Now Wells has to give a story of maybe and what if as answer for lying.

I remember something a long time again that would help Wells in his defense. Preppie was 8 and didn't know where babys came from he didn't like girls. A girl like him and said she was having his baby. Yes I know this is going to sound strange but I said if all it took was liking someone to have a baby well Denez Washington would have been your father. Wishing and make believe is fact we all wish and day dream but this case is about reality and fact not wishful thinking.

I would like to ask Wells in one of his sentences in his closing arguments: WTF is "Mr. Libby's memory system?" Where is the evidence in that Theodore?

Wells: One of you jurors asked a great question–how did Libby do his job?

Answer is Libby had a system. What LIbby told GJ is to cope, he pooled collective recollections together. Backbenchers, always take one person whose job is repository of information. That person to take notes.

Besides Hannah who was Wells' only witness that testified about Libby's work habits and moery loss, you need a hell of lot more witnesses besides Hannah with evidence to prove that Libby had a "memory system."

Man, pretty dam good closing argument by Fitz.

Here is some highlights that I found interesting:

Fitz: No one wished this, but if Tim Russert were run over by a bus and went to that great newsroom in the sky, you could still find plenty of evidence that Libby was not surprised when he heard this from Russert.

Great newsroom in the sky.. LOL!

And this was an excellent point by Fitz about Valerie Wilson. Wells pointed out that Ms. Wilson wasn't important and refreed to her as "the wife."

Fitz: Her name Valerie Wilson. She had a life before Joe Wilson, but to them she wasn't Val Wilson, she wasn't a person, she was an argument, she was a fact to use against Wilson. We keep hearing about merits. The two things Jeffress points out about Wilson. He said he wasn't sent by VP,
THey said the wife was important. It cast suspicion that Wilson got sent because of "the wife."

Valerie Wilson was a tool for the Administration to discredit her husband for their hidden and political agenda.

Blogger FBI said...

Here's a great one too SPB!

"Btw, maybe Russert and Cooper got confused.

How would the conversation have happeend on July 11, if Rove said, that I just found about Novak. What would libby have said? Oh, I found about it tomorrow from Matt Cooper."

Fitz: There is a cloud over the VP. He wrote those columns, he had those meetings, He sent Libby off to the meeting with Judy. Where Plame was discussed. That cloud remains because the denfendant obstructed justice. That cloud was there. That cloud is something that we just can’t pretend isn’t there.

One of the people he blamed was defendant. ANd VP. Don't for a second believe, that the defendant wouldn't get pissed if someone said you lied the country into a war.

If you think it's important, when you're focused on it, when you're angry about it. You know the things you forget and the things you remember. You know how to tell the difference. It's actual common sense."

Very good, counselor..

But most important words by Fitz:

DONT YOU THINK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE ENTITLED TO ANSWERS. If as a result his wife had a job, she worked at CPD, She gets dragged into newspapers. People want to find out was a law broken when people want to know, who did it. What role did Defendant play. What role did VP play? He told you he may have discussed this with VP. Don't you think FBI desesrves straight answers.

Wells mentioned about Libby being a honest man and public servant to this country. But, what Fitzgerald pointed very clearly is that we also have two honest and public servants in this country whose lives are tarnished forever from a simple punishing from a public servant, Joe Wilson. And we are talking about violating National Security by Libby and violating his non-diclosure agreement that Libby signed in his employment.

Finally, Wells failed to pointed out the public has to right to know the truth since Libby and his defense team decided to drag in this case Libby's National Security matters.

My summation will be on blog since I will analyzing both sides. But, great job from both Fitz and Z man. Oh, one more thing. That was great of Zeidenberg to point out the defense team's empty promises to the jurors in their opening statements about Libby being an scapegoat for Rove and the lack of evidence. ;-)

There are no words that can express how proud I am of my Little Angel's closing. Talent is great but when it comes from the heart with truth it's with Gods blessings. Fitz and his team have done a great Justice to America I only hope the public realizes it. Now we'll see the media and paid Journalist spin/twist/lie/blame to make sure the cover up is continued. Mr. Fitz did a great job capturing what every American should be feeling about this case and beyond. If that didn't leave people with wanting more investigations into Bush/Cheney saga, you must be an enabler, one of them, or living without a thought to your country/planet's future.

Sometimes attorneys might make a statement of which they have no evidence or proof but merely speculation or possibilty of something.
