any ideas?

The prosecution will be direct, fair, and thorough.

The defense will have to rely on techniques, tricks, and tomfoolery.

My bottom line? Just be clear, concise, and to the point with the closing arguments. I am sure that you and the Z man know that. Best of luck to the Z man as he is the first to present the closing arguments.

Final thoughts.. Just nail the baby conjones and get rid of the garbage! Other than that, there is nothing more I can say. I look forward to tomorrow. I'm calling it a night. Business meeting.. Good night! Biloximan out!

Yes, how can this be worked in? - "Cheney did nothing to discourage Libby from telling that story to the FBI and the federal grand jury. Moreover, Cheney encouraged then-White House press secretary Scott McClellan to publicly defend Libby, according to other testimony and evidence made public during Libby's trial.

And, that's all I have to say about that ;D

Can the prosecution allude to the fact that Libby chose to NOT take the stand in his own defense and then allow the jury infere whatever it wants from that?

"On a January 12 Washington Post op-ed, titled "The Plame Game: Was This a Crime?" Republican attorney Victoria Toensing and co-author Bruce W. Sanford defended nationally syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak and the anonymous government sources he used in a July 2003 column in which he exposed the identity of undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame. Multiple news outlets have noted that Toensing is apparently a personal friend of Novak -- a fact that neither she nor the Post saw fit to disclose." more

People that are telling the truth and have nothing to hide do not tend to shy away from saying so to a jury of their peers.

"Sanford and Brown believe there is more futility to come: "The futility will be evident in the acquittal next year of Vice President Cheney's former chief of staff, Lewis 'Scooter' Libby, on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. The acquittal will be yet another symbol of the misuse of prosecutorial time that is the big problem with leak investigations."

The authors conclude: "For all their futility and misguided initiative, leak investigations and private suits seeking to use journalists as leverage against the government are likely to proliferate. Reporters will almost certainly be forced again to give up their confidential sources, go to jail or, in civil cases, look to the deep pockets of their employers to pay to protect their sources' identities, as recently occurred in the settlement of the Privacy Act lawsuit that scientist Wen Ho Lee brought against the government."

Yeah, we seen who the sources for the rags' articles, the leakers in our own damn government accusing others of leaking and obstructing justice to save their own butts.

Fitzie & Z-man,

Give them the (Libby lied) facts sprinkled throughout your romantic presentation filled with passion for the truth, justice and the American way! That's what I would want to hear from you if I was on the jury.

What would happen to you or anyone else who commits these crimes? These Government Tiles do not give immunity to crime. Do your duty and judge them according to the standard they have placed on you and I..it would be called treason.

Good Morning Everyone! :D

Zeidenberg is giving an incredible opening statement! :)

From FDL live blogging...

"Fitz told you this is case about lying, and I submit that is right. Not a case about bad memory or forgetting. Libby does claim he forgot 9 separate conversations over a 4 week period, but he also invents out of whole cloth, two conversations that never happened. His conversation with Cooper and his conversation with Russert. That's not a matter of forgetting or misremembering, it's lying. Talk to you about evidence and credibility of witnesses."

Good morning, JBs. Bad night last night so CBS channel was on all night. First time in a long time they brought up the trial. Said closing statements were today and made references that defense failed to call Libby and Cheney. The "tone and language" for once, (we all know how they do it) seemed normal for once. It didn't sound good for Team Depends anyway.

I'm glad Mr. Z is getting a chance to shine. Go Team America!

I say a split verdict but I don't how the counts will fall. However, I've been terribly wrong about predictions in this case. Does the perjury testimony totally rely on Russert?

You have a point. The Administration especially Cheney wouldn't allow Fitz to go all the up to the way up the food chain. Fitz can't go about this alone. But, Waxman, Conyers, Feingold and others will demand that as well as the American people. You have get enough people to lock arms to demand an investigation in to the WH. And there will be one.. But, I think after Scooter's trial is over, there will more and more talks from the media and press about a WH conspiracy. This will be enough for the American people to want an investigation.
