the Washington Times has not been the same since Kate Graham passed away -- her son Donald is not half the woman she was...

Barbara "Dances With Lies" Comstock Named Washington Post Editor?

How else are we to explain the editorial decisions to propel Byron York's inept and hapless crayon scribblings yesterday, followed by the propagandistic, defamatory rantings of longtime Barbara Comstock sister in crime Victoria Toensing today? Barbara Comstock currently serves as the PR flack for the Libby defense team, and has been a key fundraiser for his defense. <more>

Washington Post Enables Toensing's Delusions

Mr. Fitz!

More people should read Larry Johnson's blog more often. He flat out states it.. without the spins, hoops, and lies.

Nothing I've read about that Comstock woman has been good. More chicken, dear?

From the article..

As I've said, others will address more directly the lack of merit of the Toensing article itself, but the first point to take is the Post's choice to serve as the sewage pipeline for Wilson and Fitzgerald smears.

Boo! Washington Post!

Newsweek_Tony_Blairs_reputation_
shredded_by_0218.html

For two months, Prime Minister Tony Blair offered "extraordinary access to himself and his top aides" to Newsweek, in hopes of rescuing "Blair's legacy from the grip of Iraq," the magazine reports.

"More than any Western leader other than President George W. Bush, British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s reputation has been 'shredded by Iraq,' a senior Bush administration official who would only speak anonymously about a foreign leader, tells Newsweek," notes a press release sent to RAW STORY about the article. "Perhaps even more so than Bush: Blair transformed the Labour Party into a juggernaut and oversaw a 10-year renaissance in Britain. He had further to fall than the American president."

"Newsweek" will apply their lies and spins from sources that seem to grow unnamed and doesn't want to embarrass anyone in government with sensitive subject each week.

"Newsweek" would have gotten canceled from me right after the '04 election but it was one of the kids' money making projects. They send notices that practically beg people to re-new their subscriptions. Cathie Martin testifying just confirmed it all for sure why no one wants to read their rag anymore.

Someone posted a Letterman like countdown of Libby's defenses from this site:

http://satiricalpolitical.com/?p=613

Sorry I can't link it. My favorite one was that Libby was under a lot of duress because Cheney threatened to "out" him as a Jew at his exclusive country club. If jan were on here, she'd say that I was stirring up a pot of crap with that one :). Got me to thinking that he wanted to be known as Scooter all his life because it's so preppy sounding.

Both sides of the issue, I guess. I just found this site today. But I've read things before about "chaos" being helped along to the construction of the U.S. bases moving on schedule.

With Darth/Rumsfeld and that certain cabal in the Pentagon, nothing should be put past that bunch.

Folks,

Pretty damn damaging info. from Firedoglake:

Michael Isikoff reports for Newsweek. "What Novak didn't tell the jury is what the lobbyist then did with it: Hohlt confirmed to NEWSWEEK that he faxed the forthcoming column to their mutual friend Karl Rove (one of Novak's sources for the Plame leak), thereby giving the White House a heads up on the bombshell to come."

After Novak first told Hohlt that he was working on a hot story about ex-ambassador Joe Wilson, Hohlt says he e-mailed Rove to expect a phone call from Novak. Then Hohlt began pressing Novak to learn the juicy details. On July 11, 2003, three days before the column was published, Novak gave him a preview copy. (Unknown to Hohlt, Rove had already confirmed to Novak that Wilson's wife worked at the CIA.) That same day, Hohlt e-mailed details about the column to Rove, and later faxed him the entire unpublished article. (Rove's lawyer confirms this account.) "I was just trying to be helpful," Hohlt says. His role as a go-between later earned him a visit from the FBI, but it stayed secret until now. And that was just fine with Hohlt, who says that his greatest accomplishment as a lobbyist has been "staying out of the press."

http://www.firedoglake.com/2007/02/18/what-did-rove-know-and-when-did-he-know-it/

On a side note, Wells asked Novak about the Richard Hohlt. Novak told Wells that Hohlt was a lobbyist and friend. Novak shared his column with Hohlt. We now know who Hohlt shared the article with at the WH!

Whatever happened to these guys? How come Bush doesn't talk about them in his press conferences?

http://www.madison.com/post/

Several sources are reporting the Pentagon is using an Islamic terrorist group from Iraq to help prepare for a possible attack on Iran. The group is Mujahedeen-e Khalq (MEK), which was expelled from Iran in after the Islamic revolution and was supported by Saddam Hussein. MEK advocates the over-throw of the Iranian regime, with replacement by the group's leadership.

According to the initial report in Raw Story this plan was advanced by the Vice President's Office and the Defense Department as early as 2003. A former counterintelligence official said "The US army secured a key MEK facility 60 miles northwest of Baghdad shortly after the 2003 invasion, but they did not secure the MEK and let them basically be because Wolfowitz was thinking ahead to Iran." The Asia Times includes a quote from the intelligence correspondent for United Press International that confirms the United States is "using the Mujahideen--e Khalq (MEK) organization and other groups to carry out cross-border operations." The plan was opposed by the State Department, National Security Council, and then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice. A senior British intelligence official "expressed that any operations with MEK would violate their own military code and would absolutely not be tolerated."

Just because Condi Chevron says something doesn't mean squat. She's proven it time after time, she's a war monger.

Hi Geezerpower:

No surprise to me.

Happy New Year - Year of the Pig

It's the year of the pig, which many are claiming means conflict and more natural disasters.

"The Year of the Pig will not be very peaceful," said Hong Kong feng shui master Raymond Lo.
Feng shui is the ancient Chinese practice of trying to achieve health, harmony and prosperity by using specific dates, numbers, building design and the placement of objects.
The pig is one of 12 animals (or mythical animals in the case of the dragon) on the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac, which follows the lunar calendar. According to Chinese astrology, people born in pig years are polite, honest, hardworking and loyal. They are also lucky, which is why many Chinese like to have babies in a pig year.
"Any children born in The Year of Pig will receive help from others throughout their lives," Lo said.

There's been another debunking of the Toensing article posted by Atrios. It's by someone named Brent Budowsky whom I'm not familiar with but was a minor official in other administrations. He calls it a blatant attempt at jury tampering. Well, I guess if just one of those people reads the article, it cooks the trial. I've been leery about this jury from the time they were selected and so many pro-bushies were allowed in, but we'll see.

I had a question for the lawyers among you too. Biloxi? If the sealed v. sealed is Rove turning on Cheney, could it be sealed until Cheney leaves office? And if that's the case, would Fitzgerald still have to be the special prosecutor? IANAL.

The Year Of The Rat

1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996

People born in the Year of the Rat are noted for their charm and attraction for the opposite sex. They work hard to achieve their goals, acquire possessions, and are likely to be perfectionists. They are basically thrifty with money. Rat people are easily angered and love to gossip. Their ambitions are big, and they are usually very successful. They are most compatible with people born in the years of the Dragon, Monkey, and Ox.

BREAKING: NM Senate Rules Committee Passes Bush-Cheney Impeachment Resolution

Senate Joint Resolution 5, the legislation urging impeachment of Bush and Cheney, was passed this morning in the NM Senate Rules Committee with only Democrats present, all of whom voted for the resolution! The meeting room was packed to the gills, with a huge crowd winding down the hallways outside the hearing. Several hours were spent listening to citizens speak on behalf of the bill, until Committee members were forced to move on to other business.
