America's "Lie Busters" Team

One potential juror who handles information technology business development at Lockheed Martin noted that she respects the commander in chief and Bush's "reasons for going to Iraq." She explained that citizens outside the government are not privy to enough information to second-guess such presidential decision-making. Is that not a prejudice (perhaps an unhealthy one) in favor of Bush administration officials? She also said that she is currently chasing a billion dollars in federal contracts for Lockheed Martin. Might she have an interest in pleasing administration officials? She was not kicked out of the potential juror pool; special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald ought to take a closer look at her in the next round.

Last but never least is Libby's former boss and Chalabi's former patron, Dick Cheney, who is back on Sunday-morning television floating fictions about Iraq and accusing administration critics of aiding al-Qaida. When the vice president went on a tear like this in 2003, hawking Iraq's nonexistent WMD and nonexistent connections to Mohamed Atta, he set the stage for a war that now kills Iraqi civilians in rising numbers (34,000-plus last year) that are heading into the genocidal realms of Saddam. Cheney's latest sales pitch is for a new plan for "victory" promising an even bigger bloodbath.

Talks about Libby and lying like it is 2003.

Thank you and good luck to all of America's Team and to all the good and decent federal workers trying to make a difference in our beloved country.

You all deserve a raise before any Supreme Court justice gets one anyway, JMO. Some of those whining should step down and make America's day.

Q said it best @ 4:26pm. You don't know how much it means to me personally to be able to follow this case and see true, hard working, honest public servants going forward with a case that is challenging to the Bush administration. Bush has a history of firing any federal official who speaks out against him or his cohorts.Hence, no one before you has dared to challenge them to such a degree as you all have. Team America has helped to restore my faith in the system.Regardless of the outcome, if this trial is conducted fairly and properly, we have had a victory. Thank you very much for that. I am behind you 100%.

Fitzgerald definitely wants to strike .....

And why does the defense get 12 strikes (I think that's right) and the prosecution only 6?

Fitz's Horoscope for tomorrow ;D

A pleasant day
This day is good for arranging and participating in social get-togethers. Spend time with friends and enjoy yourself. You probably won't want to talk about anything serious, because this is a light-hearted influence. Nevertheless, it is a good time for talking to loved ones and making it clear how you feel about them. Even if there are tensions within your relationships, this influence should enable you to discuss them, straighten them out and leave nothing behind but good feelings. If you do not have any work that has to be done, this is a good time for attending a concert, art exhibit or other intellectually stimulating activity. Or you might take a trip and spend the day in pleasant surroundings away from home. Whatever you do, this should be a light, pleasant day.

Sounds nice :)

Good Evening

Hi S-Q :-) Yes these reps must really be put to task on Iraq and get them out. It is interesting that before the election republicans weren't taking many appointments from anti-war military people, but now they are.

One thing you can do is call them up if they want a surge and say how many calls did you get today opposed to the war/surge-they tell you something like 45-then ask how many in favor of continuing the war/surge-0 Same with the torture issue...then let them know where you stand.

Agent 99 nice prose, as a mix of many of those I can really appreciate it

Fitz don't forget Feb 2 is groundhog day hehe

Wired_to_report_US_unwittingly_
evolved_0121.html

A drug-resistant bacteria that is infecting wounded US soldiers in Iraq -- and has spread to civilian hospitals in parts of Europe -- accidentally evolved in US military hospitals in Iraq, Wired Magazine will report in a massive expose on Monday, RAW STORY has learned.
"By creating the most heroic and efficient means of saving lives in the history of warfare, the Pentagon had accidentally invented a machine for accelerating bacterial evolution and was airlifting the pathogens halfway around the world," the magazine reveals."

I wonder...amazing how the U.S. seems to have their hands in much tradegy along with our "allies".

Blair likely to quit if aides charged in loans inquiry
The Guardian

Tony Blair is likely to stand down early if charges are brought in the cash-for-honours affair against any of his key aides, including Ruth Turner, arrested on Friday on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

Ministers said they were certain Mr Blair would not seek to stay until his planned departure date of June or July if any of his immediate entourage were charged.

One senior Labour minister told the Guardian: "He knows he would need to do the right thing for the party."

Good Morning All

Fitz the best to you this week!

JB's does this sound familiar? Congress August 6-7, 1964

MR. GRUENING: [Ernest Gruening, Dem.-Alaska] . . . Regrettably, I find myself in disagreement with the President's Southeast Asian policy. . . The serious events of the past few days, the attack by North Vietnamese vessels on American warships and our reprisal, strikes me as the inevitable and foreseeable concomitant and consequence of U.S. unilateral military aggressive policy in Southeast Asia.... We now are about to authorize the President if he sees fit to move our Armed Forces . . . not only into South Vietnam, but also into North Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and of course the authorization includes all the rest of the SEATO nations. That means sending our American boys into combat in a war in which we have no business. which is not our war, into which we have been misguidedly drawn, which is steadily being escalated. This resolution is a further authorization for escalation unlimited. I am opposed to sacrificing a single American boy in this venture. We have lost far too many already....

MR. MORSE: [Wayne Morse, Dem.-Ore.] . . . I believe that history will record that we have made a great mistake in subverting and circumventing the Constitution of the United States. . . I believe this resolution to be a historic mistake. I believe that within the next century, future generations will look with dismay and great disappointment upon a Congress which is now about to make such a historic mistake.

I think Pachacutec is going to do a piece on Is the Jury Selection Process Fair today. Someone on this thread said that Libby's defense gets to strike 12 off the final list but the prosecution only 6. Is this true? The jury has been stacked if is because it was only until about potential juror 24 when Fitzgerald started objecting effectively to the relevance of jurors' opinions on the Iraq war and Bush administration. If this commentator here is correct, doesn't that mean that the defense can strike all 12 of the potential jurors Fitzgerald passed while he could get only 1/4th of the defense's 24 tossed out? I don't know. It depends on whether the commentator was right about 6 and 12, and I am just asking if there is a lawyer on this thread who does know.

“…or the Saudi king “may decide to strangle Iranian funding of the militias through oil policy. If Saudi Arabia boosted production and cut the price of oil in half … it would be devastating to Iran … The result would be to limit Tehran’s ability to continue funnelling hundreds of millions each year to Shi’ite militias in Iraq and elsewhere.”

Our "friends".

So special that they seem to run the U.S. at times, so special they don't report their own nuclear weapons to the U.N., sign treaties. The neocons sure like to stir the pot on behalf of our "friends". Never mind these "friends" and all the missing money and the stories of ties to 9/11. Are the corporations that own the MSM really the American people's "friends"?
