The Iraqi government is in danger of being brought down by the wholesale smuggling of the nation's oil and other forms of corruption that together represent a "second insurgency", according to a senior US official. Stuart Bowen, who has been in charge of auditing Iraq's faltering reconstruction since 2004, said corruption had reached such levels that it threatened the survival of the state.

If the occupiers often seemed oblivious to reality, one reason was that many jobs at the C.P.A. went to people whose qualifications seemed to lie mainly in their personal and political connections — people like Simone Ledeen, whose father, Michael Ledeen, a prominent neoconservative, told a forum that "the level of casualties is secondary" because "we are a warlike people" and "we love war".

Yep, that is why they stole and had hookers. They like to kill babies but don't anyone dare think of getting an abortion unless it is a military strike.

NEW YORK – Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-NY) and Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ) today wrote Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez requesting that a Special Counsel be appointed to investigate whether criminal charges should be brought against former EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman, and against other government officials, for taking actions that may have endangered the lives of thousands of people following the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York.

I'm posting this although I am increasingly of the opinion that Putin wasn't behind Litvinenko's death. If, indeed, the Russian government did not kill Litvinenko, then this story is extremely convenient for whoever did.

"A former Russian security service officer said in a letter from prison released Friday that he had warned former spy Alexander Litvinenko years ago that the KGB’s main successor agency had formed a death squadron to kill him and other Kremlin foes,

T:

Thanks for sharing that filing by Paul Mitchell, private attorney out in California. That filing has to do with the Wilson's civil case not the criminal case against the smurf.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That’s not the whole picture, SPB.
I earlier posted the following response to t’s comment:
“What is interesting, t…is the ‘previously lodged VERIFIED CRIMINAL COMPLAINT, ON INFORMATION, formally charging Messrs. George W. Bush, Donald H. Rumsfeld, Richard B. Cheney and Does 1 thru 100 with multiple felony federal offenses’.
”Just follow the link as it appears in text VERIFIED CRIMINAL COMPLAINT, ON INFORMATION
”Or
”http://www.supremelaw.org/cc/gwbush/vcc.htm”
If you had read my post and followed that link, a far more interesting picture would have emerged.
Paul Mitchell’s filing does indeed have to do with United States of America Vs. I. Lewis Lobby, which is, as you say, “to do with the Wilson’s civil case not the criminal case against the smurf”.
But the information “Mitchell”, whose real name, as far as I can ascertain, is Mitch Modeleski, wishes Fitzgerald to present on the basis of a legal precedent valid in Manhattan and in New York state law has to do with 7 far more serious counts against Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld.
They are these:
COMES NOW the United States (hereinafter “Intervenor”) ex relatione Paul Andrew Mitchell, Citizen of ONE OF the United States of America and Private Attorney General (hereinafter “Relator”), pursuant to 18 U.S.C. 4 to report and serve this, Relator’s VERIFIED CRIMINAL COMPLAINT, ON INFORMATION, against the following named and unnamed individuals.
Relator hereby formally charges:
COUNT ONE: 18 U.S.C. 1958
COUNT TWO: 18 U.S.C. 1962
racketeering and conspiring to engage
in a pattern of racketeering activities
(multiple violations as a principal)
commission of multiple federal felonies by directly and indirectly acquiring and maintaining an interest in and control of an enterprise which is engaged in, and the activities of which affect, interstate commerce through a pattern of racketeering activities; also associating with an enterprise engaged in a pattern of racketeering activities which affect interstate commerce, and directly and indirectly conducting and participating in the conduct of such enterprise's affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity; and, conspiring to engage in a pattern of racketeering activities, all in connection with the deaths of at least 2,000 civilians, 343 personnel of the New York City Fire Department, 37 personnel of the New York Port Authority, and 23 personnel of the New York City Police Department before, during, and after the events of September 11, 2001, in violation of 18 U.S.C. 1962(b), (c) and (d) -- one count per enumerated death;
Hey Anthony, I got a 404 on the link about the former security person, but my computer has been acting up all day. So let's see if I can guess correctly without knowing what is on the link yet:
The former security person's name writing the letter from prison was:
(drum roll, please)
Michael/Mikhail Trepashin (spelling, probably a little bit off).
If so, Mr. Trep. had an ax to grind against Putin, too. Because of that, someone could have told him anything and from prison, he would have no way of finding out the truth behind the allegations. Of everyone mentioned so far, however, Mr. Trep. has the rawest deal yet because is is *in* a Russian prison.
Again, why wait until 2006 to release a letter from years ago? Prison workers do not make very much money. Enough bribe money could be paid to get messages in and out from Trep. without anyone knowing who leaked what for years.
Meanwhile, a large quantity of Polonium-210 – apparently produced within the past year at some un-safeguarded nuclear reactor – has been used to poison some former Russian spy in London.
"According to Israel Inside, Leonid Nevzlin, former CEO of the oil giant Yukos and current chairman of the Diaspora Museum in Tel Aviv, said the former Russian spy had come to Israel in the weeks before his murder with classified documents on Yukos that might be damaging to Russian leaders. Nevzlin estimated that Litvinenko’s death had been connected with this information, which he had handed to London police investigators of the murder."
Perhaps it isn’t significant, but most Russian nuclear reactors are subject to IAEA Safeguards. None of Israel’s are.
Found it!
I was close but only on 1.5 out of the three guesses:
Prison Planet Link
1. I got the person correct but blew the spelling by a long shot.
2. I misunderstood about the letter. I thought the warning letter was written years ago and released only after Lit. died but the warning was years ago and the letter was written (allegedly) only after Lit. died.
3. Yeah, Mr. Trep. was told something in which there was no way that he could corroborate it as truthful. I got that one correct. The story in the link looks like BAIT, just to see what Trepaskhin could be 'bought' or not.
Note to Prosecutor Fitzgerald: Michael Trepashkin's job was somewhat the Russian version of yours, except a prosecuting lawyer in Russia has to do a lot of his or her own investigating. That can get one into far more danger, especially because he worked on cases of people who are very high ranking in the Russian government, and he used to work in investigating tax fraud. Holy smokes, that includes going after government people, corporations, and mafia. Tax cheating in new Russia is like a new religion, kind of like corruption in Illinois, an art form. Before he was sent to prison, Trepashkin was considered good, damn good, and lots of people were mad at him.
Of everyone mentioned so far who are still living, I do feel sorry for Trepashkin. His life sucks.
Now, he was investigating both the infamous apartment bombings and the botched Nord Ost Moscow theater 'rescue.' The conspiracy theory people think the FSB was behind at least the apartment bombings and had something to hide. Like Nord Ost, Beslan, and the apartment bombings, I think there is no FSB conspiracy except to cover its own butt for being asleep at the wheel and for what could be considered mistakes. Yeah, they have something to hide but not for what the conspiracy theory people think. The FSB is supposed to be good, how the heck could a bunch of people blow up apartments right in Moscow? If it really was Chechens, then geez, was the FSB really doing a good job? Nord Ost and Beslan 'rescues' ended up with too many innocent hostages dying, and were disasters. Plus, where was the FSB in stopping those before they happened? Who needs a complicated conspiracy when plenty of government agencies are just NOT PERFECT and they need to cover their own butts!??
Anthony--yeah it is significant, the Soviet Union was considered a bad guy, so anyone from the international community would want to know what they are up to with their nukes, in any way possible. Second, remember CHERNOBYL???? If I remember correctly, blame was placed on the Soviet Union because they were building reactors like Chernobyl which were considered less safe than those say, in the U.S. (nevermind about Three Mile Island). They were considered unsafe even before Chernobyl, and again, people would have wanted to try to see what the Soviets were doing.
So, no matter what year Russia got people poking around the safety of their nuke programs in any way possible, it has nothing to do with them not being Jewish.
When a once mighty and scary country gets completely discredited for its economic and political system (obviously I mean the Soviet Union and communism), people left running the place have massive, massive inferiority complexes and they lash out against those throwing salt on their wounds.
Hi, all. I am confused about what has been written here about those charges Paul Mitchell outlined. I read the whole thing. I am not an attorney, but it sounded like Mr Mitchell was trying to demonstrate the legal basis for his being allowed to enjoin Mr Fitzgerald to bring these new charges outlined in the letter before a grand jury. I'm not sure how that gets Libby off of any charges. It might delay Libby's trial. It seems like Mitchell is acting on behalf of himself and the people of the USA. He's not a licensed attorney, he's a Private Attorney General. I would like to hear more of what the excellent legal minds here have to say on this. Patrick Fitzgerald, take on Mr Mitchell's criminal complaint and present the indictments to the Grand Jury.
Only then will you prove your worth to the millions who still doubt you.
This is a battle of good versus evil.
Especially in Israel, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan the list is too long to print.
Serve Paul Andrew Mitchell's complaint to the Grand Jury and see what they think of it.
All active lawyers or litgants have a duty to report treason offenses.
If they do not, that is a felony.
All the following documents should be presented to your Federal Grand Jury.
When that is done, the world will know you are serious.
Walton said he tried to balance national security concerns with Libby's right to a fair trial. The judge stressed that pre-approving classified evidence "requires a court to play the role of Johnny Carson's character Carnac the Magnificent by requiring it to render rulings before knowing the exact context of how those rulings will coincide with other evidence that has actually been developed at trial."
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has said he may appeal Walton's ruling, a move that could delay a trial scheduled to begin next month. Cheney and White House aide Karl Rove could be called as witnesses.
SPB,
Thanks for your great synopsis. Gee whiz, lil irv's really screwed...so his trial will start in Feb 07-good job on lil irv, Fitz:-)
OK so I did take room mother job...but now they'll send me to the RIGHT JAG-seems the state has different rules than the federal service anyways. Good rules someone opposed to an illegal war could use. And Oh, did I mention the Gov elect voted AGAINST the auth to use force? Oh my, I'm practically giddy now thinking how I'll get the bad guys...the good guys are interested in being educated-now
I have some extra inspiration-this is going around the internet -but I have been hearing it for about 6 months from other military families.
Baghdad, November 29th 2006: “This area is a zoo right now and a very dangerous zoo what with gangs of hungry tigers and leopards roaming the streets, eating everything in sight.
There is, is spite of Bush’s denials, a terrible civil war exploding around us.
For the time being, the Muslims are slaughtering each other, blowing up each other’s mosques, setting the other side’s worshippers on fire, machine gunning women and children on the streets and setting off so many car bombs that at night it sounds like the Fourth of July in Kansas City but much, much louder. You can read a newspaper at midnight by the light of the burning buildings and the stench of burned flesh, rubber and other things. Our bases out in the boonies are in real danger of being overrun by furious fighters and the soldiers slaughtered, so hyped up are the various factions.
Bush has said he will never leave, no matter what — so morale here is tanking worse than the dollar and the dead and wounded GIs are piling up on the airstrips not under occasional mortar fire awaiting evacuation to safer regions.
The current Iraqi government has absolutely no control over the warring factions and has to walk a narrow line to avoid being slaughtered by some splinter group no one has ever heard of.
Even senior officers are frightened by the insane violence (religious wars are absolutely the worst), and a number of the brass are fleeing to safer areas via friends in the Pentagon.
I have tried for three months to get my sorry ass out of here but I don’t have Point buddies with stars in DC so I will have to stay until an end that is surely coming. Pray for me!”
If you were going to start a highly aggressive war for global domination you would want to know you could defend yourself from incoming nuclear missile attacks from foreign powers. Zapping a little drone plane about the size and speed of one of those missiles would be a great way to find out if you were capable of doing so.
Especially when you could use the "Let's Roll" cover story to rally a naive and ignorant general public behind your blood thirsty quest for global dominance."
Americans and other people around the world that lost citizens along with the bogus Afghanistan and Iraq Wars are not willing to wait decades before the truth comes out. With the fraud and looting of taxpayers' money, loss of so many lives and lives forever altered, innocent children slaughtered--these criminal drug/arms dealers need to pay the price for their actions.
The motions in the civil case will be in mid February of 2007. So the attorneys of the defendents: Libby, Rove, and Cheney have to present. That is why the smurf is having Mitchell submit a letter to Fitz. A lot in the civil case rides on the information on the criminal case of Libby. This is certainly a finanical burden on him. Now, Cheney has some mighty expensive attorneys. Cheney's attorneys are the team from the Clinton's impeachment.. As far as Rove, I don't know if Luskin is representing him in the civil case or if he is still lawyering up. Rest assured, the civil case is thorn on the side of Libby because he is faced with two trial that are a month apart...
Hello GEF:
"Patrick Fitzgerald, take on Mr Mitchell's criminal complaint and present the indictments to the Grand Jury."
I had a feeling from reading that filing that there is certain a battle and challenge by Mitchell in the U.S. vs. Libby. All of the defendants Libby, Rove, and Cheney will do everything that they can't to get the civil matter drop especially since the civil case in on month after the beginning of Libby trial. And it give focus and ugly picture to the public and to the media of a much corrupted Admininstration and how far can the Administration go to silence a person who speaks out.
Forgot to add:
Libby is in a lot of deep doo doo for allowing confidential info about nuke and terror. He certainly going to confuse the jurors. But, certainly the public and people around the country following Libby's case don't want to hear about confidential info and nuke and terror.. It is certainly going to make national security very volunable all for a defendant who simply lied and claiming memory loss. This trial is certainly going to be a disaster for the smurf and demonstrate the incompetence of the Administration in the name of national security.
Did they ever find out the real names of the hijackers since Mueller said they were using fake passports?
Hey, did they track down the thieves of all those laptops stolen for identities? With all those stolen, you would think there would be break in the case and Americans could hear some good news.
Yes Mr Biloxi,
I am well aware of the challenge it represents.
It will certainly make Cheney once again stir in his boots, and he may just resign for good, before facing what lies ahead of this case.
I am in agreement on that point. I did not say Fitzgerald wouldn't do it, I am simply pointing out the facts.
We have a criminal neocon syndicate from Israel to Turkey to Pakistan, and they are in both parties on the levers of power. Mr. Fitzgerald should do what it takes to remove them, this is a collossal war.
And he must know what we are fighting for. One can not give up just because we got rid of the crooks in the Senate.
There's still much that needs to be done, just read this report, its a wide-eye opener ...
Soory I didn't add my comment about the criminal complaint against the Gerbil, the Ambien, and Rummy dated April 2006. Mitchell originally charged that complaint back in 2005. This is now resurfacing because the GOP controlled Congress was in control for 6 years and Mitchell couldn't have this complaint go through. Now that there will be a new Congress in January, best believe that Mitchell would have new Congress look at the charges on Gerbil, Ambien, and Rummy. And by Rummy being fired and in being investigated in the Abu Ghraib, it will be easy for Mitchell to have the criminal complaints resurface.
For many Americans Turkey is one of the closest allies of the United States; a most important member of NATO; a candidate for EU membership; and the only Middle-Eastern close ally and partner of Israel.
Very true, and Turkey as a problem was newer issue to me -still learning-Pakistan definitely needs diplomacy-a friend of Lebanese-American background has studied these issues and I'm sure she will enjoy that article also.
