Black loses bid to strike details of his lifestyle

Conrad Black, the former Hollinger International Inc. chairman and chief executive charged with looting the company, lost a bid Wednesday to keep jurors from hearing prosecutors' claims that he had a lavish lifestyle.

U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve in Chicago refused to strike from the indictment references that Black's lawyers argued would evoke "class prejudice" among jurors. <

Champagne kisses and caviar dreams, Conrad?

Are you sure it's the phone case? If so, Fitzie works fast & efficiently...Anon, we enjoy most indictments...

"U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald is trying to track down the reporters’ confidential sources for the stories. Fitzgerald’s spokesman, Randall Samborn, declined to comment on the Supreme Court’s order."

Funny I was going to post this quote before I saw anon's Randall comment...

Yesireeee, the reason they were in such a hurry to get those phone records was that the statute of limitations was running out making it impossible to press charges after December of this year, right Doug?

Mr. Black was living high on the hog by stealing from his company. Really high. Good, glad the jury will be informed. And, here is something that is about another topic, and this is discouraging. (Democrats Reject Key 9/11 Panel Suggestion - for reorganization of Congress to improve oversight) This is a major reason I voted a straight democratic ticket on Nov 7. What is wrong with these people we just placed our trust in?

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening folks!

It's Thursday!

Well, black day fron the evildoers. First Conrad Blacks to his appeal to not have the jurors hear his lavish lifestyle and Gov Ryan loses his right for his $200,000 pension which is 35 years of service in the toilet. Ain;t life grand? LOL!

Looking forward to those indictments in the phone records case. And when are you are going to unseal the sealed document of McTreason Rove? Rove has been quiet lately.

More than a year before the United States launched an endless war on Iraq in what President George W. Bush told Congress was an urgently needed action to prevent an attack with non-existent weapons by non-Iraqi terrorists ...

Eleven months before Bush told British Prime Minister Tony Blair [] that a good way to start a war on Iraq would be to paint planes with UN colors, fly them low, and get them shot at ...

Five months before the Downing Street Minutes were taken at a meeting revealing the knowledge top British officials had of the secret war plans of the Bush administration ...

Just a week or two before several of the Downing Street Memos recorded US-British discussions of the coming war ..

Wonder what the accurate death toll of the Bush/Cheney crime spree has reached now? Don't forget the depleted uranium count that keeps on killing.

Howdy Biloxi!

I'm impressed by Howard Dean..

That's mighty peculiar!

Hannity goes for Brokeback

Figuring this was an embarrassing oversight by the administrator who must have bought the dating service software from some liberal company, I immediately contacted Hannity, hoping he'd panic and cry and possibly use his bionic powers. But it turns out Hannity was well aware of the gay Hannidate feature and is fine with it. "Hannidate is open to everyone," he informed me. "Even lonely L.A. Times reporters." He may be soft on gays, but Hannity can still hit a lonely, empty-desked, downsizing liberal newspaper where it hurts.

If you are impressed by Dean, you haven't met his brother, Jim. Jim heads up the Democracy of America organization and website. He took over when Howard took the job at DNC. He is just as powerful as his brother, Howard.

Rove's October surprise never happened, the Pakistanis and CIA missed on October 30th, and the Republicans lost. Although . . . . where has al-Zawahiri been for the usual you-can't-find-me video?

Putin has got some 'splaning to do. The Brits are finding radioactive traces all over the place. It is time to go buy stock in any company that makes radioactive detectors 'cause that is probably coming next to an airport near you.
