I would have thuoght exposing a covert CIA agent was every bit as serious as perjury and obstruction. But then I'm not a lawyer.

Anthony, exposing a covert CIA agent is more serious than perjury and obstruction in my view, but the Bush administration kept Fitzgerald from pursuing that line. For one thing, the law covering exposing a covert agent was written by someone named Victoria Toensing, and it is supposed to be so full of holes that you could drive a truck through it. And another major reason Fitzgerald couldn't pursue that line is what we call over here "greymail". The administration would keep evidence essential to the testimony from coming to light on the basis that it was "vital to national security". I am not a lawyer either so I hope I've written this simply enough to avoid confusing you. (Fitz, how does someone with dyslexia get past your word verification?)

Good Afternoon/Evening to Fitz and Justice Bloggers.. :)

Tee,

Here's the free download file.

After you install it, just choose print from your favorite program like you normally do but when it asks you for a printer, choose Cutepdf and then it will pop up a window to name the file. Then it will safe it to a directory instead of printing it.

Get both Tee including the Converter..

Have a Good Saturday everyone! :)

President Bush's low approval ratings, the unpopular war on Iraq, voter concern about corruption and Democratic fundraising all figured in the GOP loss of Senate control in last month's elections. But among Republicans, long-hidden tensions are spilling into view, with numerous critics venting their anger at the GOP Senate campaign committee headed by North Carolina Sen. Elizabeth Dole.

Ousted Republicans blaming Liddy Dole now, Ms. Liddy in the red dresses, red painted lips, gold dripping off her got it so wrong. haha.

Looks like Dick won't have a festive holiday since all eyes on him testifying in little Irve's life support defense...

I caught this article from Condi. She said that the U.S. is ready for a black president.. Sigh... Apparently Girlfriday left her brains in the closet in regards to history. I didn't see that she mention Shirley Chisholm, a black woman, who ran for U.S. President in 1972.. And I have to say that Ms. Chisholm earned my respect as an African-American woman who went up against the odds and to make a statement if she can run for President, so can others. Condi was given her title by the Gerbil. She never earned it...

As for 'Barrack Hussein Obama', I really don't think the United States is ready for a black president much less a Muslim one.

Racism has been a major problem in this country and it seems like the elected officials and the WH won't discuss that issue... You are right.. There are still areas in this country that are prejudiced. But, just ot day that America is ready for a black President? Who in the hell is she? The swami? I haven't gotten a call from anyone asking my opinion if the U.S. is ready for a black President. I didn't hear her say that U.S. is ready for a woman president or a gay president or whatever.. Shug's opinion is good for the trash...We have a long rad of recovery in this country. But, people are simply looking for change.. And yes you will have some of the bigots and racists out there, but a vst majority want change. The Gerbil messed up this country big time...

Folks,

You have to read this. Please hold you laughter until the end:

Earlier this week it was reported that Vice President Cheney will be called as a witness for the defense in the trial of Scooter Libby. According to Cheney spokesperson Lea Anne McBridge, "We've cooperated fully in this matter and we'll continue to do so."

However, during this morning's press conference, CNN's Elaine Quiano asked the President about this development.

"What is your reaction to that, is that something you'll resist?"

Bush responded that he was unaware of this development until reading the newspapers this morning.

"No, I read about it in the newspaper today, and uh, it's an interesting piece of news and that's all I'm going to comment about an ongoing case."

LOL! And he found out about Cheney from the newspaper? Does he know that he is the President or did he read that in the newspaper??? Ha Ha! This was too funny! ROFL!

The south has been the test laboratory for the manipulated division I spoke of earlier. I remember a class system where whites were expected to act, speak and dress a certain way and African Americans were expected to act ,dress and speak in a different way.Any deviation from the norm would result in negative name-calling or labeling to discourage deviation from societal expectations. And this is was still going on in 1984.

Rev. Jesse Jackson ran for president but I cannot remember which year in the 1980s.

Don't forget Allan Keyes ran for president and even got in on the Republican party debate before the primaries.

OK, stop laughing about Keyes.

Then there was Carol Mosley Braun.

Obama is a Christian but he knows about Islam. His step-father is Indonesian and he went to school in Jakarta as a little boy. Hussein in the middle name is from his biological father, the Kenyan. This is actually to his advantage in dealing with people outside this country if enough Americans can get past their own petty bigotry. Americans are completely ignorant about Islam, which is why so many were fooled into thinking Iraq would be a cake walk. That also made it easy for Bush & Co. to trick the majority into thinking bin Laden and Saddam were buddies. For once, it would be nice to have someone high in the government who has a clue or at least a better educated public who can call BS faster and louder.

Americans have been totally ignorant about their adversaries for decades. During the Cold War, there were more Soviets teaching English than there were Americans learning Russian. We got off lucky with them, only because Reagan bankrupted them with the arms race (nevermind about our national debt). Do we have enough Americans learning Arabic? No. Do we have enough Americans learning about Islam? No. How can any of the world's problems be solved with such a level of ignorance? Americans should have gotten a clue in 1979 during the American Embassy in Iran crisis. But, we didn't. We remained so concerned about the crap in Hollywood. Take out the 'news' about Tom Cruise for one week and geez, maybe Americans can learn something useful. Maybe we can pay Britney Spears or Paris Hilton to convert to Islam, then maybe Americans would get a clue. Those girls will do anything for a buck.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. How bloody damn simple is that?

As long as the people running this government do not understand Islam, there will *always* be bloodshed in Iraq. It is possible to find a common ground between Sunnis and Shi'ites and get them to stop killing each other, then our troops can come home.

Ignorance can be fixed. Stupidity is permanent. If the ignorance is not fixed, then we are stupid and we will deserve whatever bad thing happens next. President Jimmy Carter shook his finger at Israel for not dealing with its problems better. Maybe he should shake his finger at all of us next for being uneducated about the rest of the world. He predicted Palistinian Abbas and Israeli Olmert being able to work together better than Olmert's predecessors. Some good things happened today. Let's hope more good things happen with those folks. They are getting something accomplished and I hope nobody sends Shug to 'help.'

Behind the Scenes, Rove Influence Hasn't Waned

He's not doing much in public, but behind the scenes, White House political guru Karl Rove is as aggressive as ever in making policy arguments within the administration–and his influence is still pervasive, White House insiders tell U.S. News.

The Gerbil is still leaning on Porkrinds with the magic touch. Porkrind's pixie dust is nothing but saw dust. The Gerbil is hoping that Porkrind will deliver in 2007. Fact remains, the Gerbil Administration is on life support and the Gerbil's legacy is flatlined.

2006/09/21/370066-bush-family-secrets-
and-the-truth-about-iran

Having gone through the diplomatic motions with Iran, George W. Bush is shifting toward a military option that carries severe risks for American soldiers in Iraq as well as for long-term U.S. interests around the world. Yet, despite this looming crisis, the Bush Family continues to withhold key historical facts about U.S.-Iranian relations.

The evidence is now persuasive that George H.W. Bush participated in negotiations with Iran's radical regime in 1980, behind President Jimmy Carter's back, with the goal of arranging for 52 American hostages to be released after Bush and Ronald Reagan were sworn in as Vice President and President, respectively.

In exchange, the Republicans agreed to let Iran obtain U.S.-manufactured military supplies through Israel. The Iranians kept their word, releasing the hostages immediately upon Reagan's swearing-in on Jan. 20, 1981.

Over the next few years, the Republican-Israel-Iran weapons pipeline operated mostly in secret, only exploding into public view with the Iran-Contra scandal in late 1986. Even then, the Reagan-Bush team was able to limit congressional and other investigations, keeping the full history - and the 1980 chapter - hidden from the American people.

George W. Bush walled up his Daddy's secrets even more from the American people.

Jimmy Carter is a wise man, too bad so many Americans don't look to him for wisdom more often.

There are radicals in all forms of relgion as well. It's up the sane ones to keep the radicals from ruling."

You said that more eloquently than I did. We only hear about the tiny percent of bad guys who do bad things. We never hear about the good people. I bet most Americans do not know that Muslims accept Abraham and Jesus. There should be no reason why Muslims, Jews, and Christians cannot try to find common ground if ignorance can be broken.

Muslims revere Jesus as a prophet, but do not acknowledge him as the Son of God. They also claim that Jesus did not die on the cross and that Judas died in his place, thus denying the atonment. They do this because they believe it would be unjust of God to punish someone who is innocent.

There are serious differences between Islam and Biblical Christianity.

But I have found that I can discuss these differences in an irenic fashion with my muslim colleagues/friends in a way that I cannot, say, discuss issues of equal seriousness with non-muslims, non-Christians.

Medina (a sunni muslim) sees eye to eye with me on bush and Iraq.

And Safraz (a Suffi muslim and the losest islam gets to christianity) says its the teachings of Mohamed and Jesus which count, and it doesn't matter which holy book they come from.

There is a lot we agree on.

Great clash of civilizations?

Prediction from beyond said Rover will leave before the trial-same thing my 8 Ball said and its usually right haha
From the LA Times
The decision by I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby's lawyers to call Cheney as a witness in the federal trial scheduled to begin here Jan. 16 ends months of speculation about the role senior White House officials would play.

It also sets the stage for a dramatic appearance that could offer insight into Cheney's relationship with his top aide, and for a cross-examination by special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald that could lay bare how the Bush administration responded to its critics.

Lay 'em out Fitz! Why people find football more exciting than a good trial is beyond me;-)

Ironically, Sonny's own wife Mary, who has since taken over his congressional seat, ended up playing into the blackmailer's hands. She claimed he crashed because he abused prescription drugs even though his autopsy showed only traces of prescription drugs in his blood.

Blair and Bush knew back in '03 that there was no link between Saddam and Al Qaeda. Indeed Saddam feared Al Qaeda.

They also knew that Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction, "and if he did", my little bro' said over a pint last night, "the americans sold them to him" and that he posed no threat to either the USA or UK.

And yet they chose to send troops from their respective countries into Iraq to achieve regime change.

Why?

I asked this question on this site a few days ago.

Nobody has yet given me an answer.

I asked my little bro' the same question last night over the second pint, and he thought for a mo' and said, "A cynical view would be that they did it to get their hands on the oil."

I replied, "I would think that that was bleeding obvious. It also had the added advantage of eliminating a man whom Israel perceived to be a threat.”

My brother began to look a little perplexed. A year ago, in the same place, I had argued passionately for the right of Jews to live in a Jewish state in their ancient homeland, drawing my arguments principally from Joan Peter’s “Since Time Immemorial”. He asked me if I’d changed my views. I said I hadn’t. I believe now, as I did then, that Man is a Fallen creature, and that Jews are as subject to the same frailties as the rest of humanity.

I also pointed out, as I had done a few weeks ago on this blogsite, that the English-speaking peoples have wreaked havoc on this planet, and cited the suppression of Irish Catholics in Ireland, the Pacification of the Highlands, Slavery, Opium, and The virtual annihilation of the Native Americans, and said that as an Englishman, and therefore part of the English-speaking People, it hardly behoves me to point the finger at any other one particular race.

Here is an article published on that well-known anti-Semitic website HAARETZ.com. It’s old, but it goes some way to answering my question, and the havoc we saw in southern Lebanon last summer.

And I think it also gives one reason why there is absolutely no way the boys in Iraq will be coming home in the near future, if at all, other than, of course, in body bags.

U.S. checking possibility of pumping oil from northern Iraq to Haifa, via Jordan

By Amiram Cohen

The United States has asked Israel to check the possibility of pumping oil from Iraq to the oil refineries in Haifa. The request came in a telegram last week from a senior Pentagon official to a top Foreign Ministry official in Jerusalem.

The Prime Minister's Office, which views the pipeline to Haifa as a "bonus" the U.S. could give to Israel in return for its unequivocal support for the American-led campaign in Iraq, had asked the Americans for the official telegram.

The new pipeline would take oil from the Kirkuk area, where some 40 percent of Iraqi oil is produced, and transport it via Mosul, and then across Jordan to Israel. The U.S. telegram included a request for a cost estimate for repairing the Mosul-Haifa pipeline that was in use prior to 1948. During the War of Independence, the Iraqis stopped the flow of oil to Haifa and the pipeline fell into disrepair over the years.

The National Infrastructure Ministry has recently conducted research indicating that construction of a 42-inch diameter pipeline between Kirkuk and Haifa would cost about $400,000 per kilometer. The old Mosul-Haifa pipeline was only 8 inches in diameter.

National Infrastructure Minister Yosef Paritzky said yesterday that the port of Haifa is an attractive destination for Iraqi oil and that he plans to discuss this matter with the U.S. secretary of energy during his planned visit to Washington next month. Paritzky added that the plan depends on Jordan's consent and that Jordan would receive a transit fee for allowing the oil to piped through its territory. The minister noted, however, that "due to pan-Arab concerns, it will be hard for the Jordanians to agree to the flow of Iraqi oil via Jordan and Israel."

Sources in Jerusalem confirmed yesterday that the Americans are looking into the possibility of laying a new pipeline via Jordan and Israel. (There is also a pipeline running via Syria that has not been used in some three decades.)

Iraqi oil is now being transported via Turkey to a small Mediterranean port near the Syrian border. The transit fee collected by Turkey is an important source of revenue for the country. This line has been damaged by sabotage twice in recent weeks and is presently out of service.

In response to rumors about the possible Kirkuk-Mosul-Haifa pipeline, Turkey has warned Israel that it would regard this development as a serious blow to Turkish-Israeli relations.

Sources in Jerusalem suggest that the American hints about the alternative pipeline are part of an attempt to apply pressure on Turkey.

Iraq is one of the world's largest oil producers, with the potential of reaching about 2.5 million barrels a day. Oil exports were halted after the Gulf War in 1991 and then were allowed again on a limited basis (1.5 million barrels per day) to finance the import of food and medicines. Iraq is currently exporting several hundred thousand barrels of oil per day.

During his visit to Washington in about two weeks, Paritzky also plans to discuss the possibility of U.S. and international assistance for joint Israeli-Palestinian projects in the areas of energy and infrastructure, natural gas, desalination and electricity.

Explaining Obama to Israelis

In the summer of 1961, several months after John F. Kennedy entered the White House, a beautiful boy was born in Hawaii to a father "black as pitch" and a mother "white as milk." Forty-five years hence, Barack Hussein Obama, the son of a student from Kenya and a woman from Kansas, whose parents are thus colorfully described in his first book, the best-seller "Dreams from My Father," is the most exciting politician in America.

Unfortunately that is what the Gerbil is trying to turn Iraq into. But, the Iraqis want the troops out.. While the Gerbil is trying to turn Iraq into a mini-America, he is turning this country into a 3rd world.. The Gerbil's plan will fail in 2007. The more the war and deaths escalate in Iraq, the more the American people want the troops out of Iraq and want the Gerbil removed.. The Gerbil's plans and his Administration are on life support...

Well, I've roasted and shelled the chestnuts to be cooked with brussels sprouts, a dash of orange liqueur and parsley tomorrow, mum's peeled the sprouts, tomorrow I'll be slicing the carrots and cooking them in white wine, chicken stock and parsley.

That's my contribution to Christmas lunch.

Brother J will have got the turkey from paul the butcher today and he'll be cooking it at sister S's house.

Last year, he stuck some onion and stuff in the cavity between the breast and breast skin to keep the breast moist and it worked a treat.

Sister S will prepare the roast potatoes baisted in goose fat and provide the booze.

All,

I saw this a version of Night before Christmas on FDL. It is long. Enjoy:

T'was the night before Christmas and throughout Cellblock A,
Not an inmate was stirring, not even Bob Ney.
The jail guards on duty watched their screens with one eye
As Jack Abramoff tossed in his bunk with a sigh.

Over at the White House, George Bush slumped in his chair
And stared at the trees blooming in warm winter air.
A bottle of Jack sat on the desk by his hand
He wondered why nothing had gone like they'd planned.

Upstairs, Laura lay in the First Couple's bed
And watched the sugar plum fairies dance 'round her head.
Jenna and her sis drank their way through the night
And scoffed at the thought that they should join in Dad's fight.

At the Veep's house, Darth Cheney fondled his nub
And growled lustfully at all the cash in his tub.
Lynne was still steamed at how the news had made hay
That her lesbian daughter was in the family way.

Rumsfeld slept soundly despite the Iraq folly
His first speaking fee gaining interest, by golly.
So a few thousand soldiers had given their lives
This is how a messy new democracy thrives.

No campaign in her future, just more of the same,
Where her "husband" fucked up and she took the blame.
Condi sat at her piano and longed for the day
She returned to Stanford and could be openly gay.

What happened to their plan, the one now deceased?
Where they'd control all the oil in the Middle East?
The one where the military industrial complex thrives
While it destroys countless American lives?

You see, the giant had woken; a disturbance was heard
Somewhere over by Constitution and Third.
A woman "dressed in Armani" had taken the helm
And proposed some big changes in King George's realm.

A quick glance at some video and you got the gist
America had grown tired of Bill "Cat-Killer" Frist.
Voters refused to re-elect someone so dumb
As self-righteous git, Senator Rick Santorum.

A giddiness coursed through the globe's hemispheres
For a return to good government soon would be here!
Six long, painful years the world had suffered the crimes
Of a President who claims to believe in End Times.

But now is not the time to ease up on Dim Son.
Real change still needs to come out of Washington.
Sure, the Chimperor speaks of bipartisanship
But his word is as good as three week-old spinach dip.

The media, as well, must be made to account,
While the numbers of dead continue to mount.
Like eager freshmen donning their Rush Week beanies
Pundits sacrifice truth for their damned cocktail weenies.

Now right-wing nutjobs frantically scramble to find
A new bugaboo they can all get behind.
A Muslim American sworn in on a Koran?
My god, what will come next? We all move to Iran?

So go K.O., go Fitzy, go Media Matters!
Keep up the pressure on all these Mad Hatters.
On A-list, on B-list, and C-Z list bloggers
Fingers fleet like the feet of Riverdance cloggers.

One of these days we'll finally be able to shout
We worked as a team to kick the criminals out.
So those of you still doubting, be of good cheer.
The Internets, The Google, and Youtube are here.

A cynical optimist, I cling to the hope
That idiots hang themselves when given the rope.
That these villainous fiends who spread war like the plague
Will all wind up shackled in the dock at The Hague.

Happy Holidays to all and peace to the world. And as soon as possible, please.

Good job FDL!
