The article pointed out how the joke is overlooked by his rabid republican constituancy. They would think that funny and just dig their feet in deeper to the outrage from opponents, which they did.

He's only sorry because of the embarassment and political damage or he would never have said something like that.

My friends on this blog and I can't relate to Senator Allen's statement. We are friends of all colors and race isn't an issue. I remember being told racism has to be taught no one is born racist.
I notice that alot of people are putting their foot in their mouth with the off the cuff comments. The young man didn't have the hair cut that Allen was talking about I just don't get it.

Indeed, you can go to Alaska today and see for yourself the evidence of BP’s care of the wilderness. You can smell it: the crude oil still on the beaches from the Exxon Valdez spill.

Exxon took all the blame for the spill because they were dumb enough to have the company’s name on the ship. But it was BP’s pipeline managers who filed reports that oil spill containment equipment was sitting right at the site of the grounding near Bligh Island. However, the reports were bogus, the equipment wasn’t there and so the beaches were poisoned. At the time, our investigators uncovered four-volume’s worth of faked safety reports and concluded that BP was at least as culpable as Exxon for the 1,200 miles of oil-destroyed coastline.

Nevertheless, m’Lord Browne preens himself with his corporation’s environmental record. We know BP cares about nature because they have lots of photos of solar panels in their annual reports — and they’ve painted every one of their gas stations green.

Give me a break. Allen only apologized because:

a) he doesn't want to lose the election

b) GOP said that they weren't endorsing racists...

Burns is a racist through and through..

And he certainly need to step down and be place in a nursing home. The man is out of touch!

Someone needs to send him the DVD movie "Crash." Make sure he gets plenty of Ambien. He certainly will get a dose of the term, racism, from that movie because that movie mirrors him!

Rep. Jim Ryun says the 'so-called' super highway from Mexico to Canada running through Kansas is an *internet myth*. Oh, okay...and my brother never told me they started making changes in KC already. Guess those people in Texas are wrong too.

Shucks, I wonder if Nancy Boyda knows about the remodeling extras for free Ryun had thrown in for that sweetheart deal on his townhouse.

Boyda against Ryun in the race this time again. 'Course old Jim has all those insurance companies and various energy cos. throwing money his way. Jim sure can run though, he was the first person to run the mile in under 4 minutes. Well, that was something.

Basheert:

My comments about Allen "apologizing" was cynical remark.
I don't think you caught my point. That is why I said that he is a racist through and through. His way of "apologizing" is not going to the person who he made the remark and admit his mistake and his issues... Thstis why I mention the movie "Crash." He mirrors all the characters in that movie. Allen never apologzied properly..

"Men's willingness to obey depends on women's being held to a higher standard of morality, especially sexual morality, than men. If a woman cannot say, 'How dare you!' to a man, her defenses are sapped because without a moral objection she has only her whim to rely on."

Here's where the unfair paraphrasing comes in: Is it possible that a professor at Harvard University, a published author whose work was reviewed, albeit mockingly, in the New York Times, seriously proffered the argument that the problem with feminism is that now men don't feel quite as bad about raping women?

Everyone should always do a personal inventory, but this guy sounds like someone who should not be teaching any young people.

problem is ... the man is not quite right but he is on the right track.

and women and their movements, quest for equality, doing mens work etc etc have only themselves to blame.

You're absolutely correct. A man is a man is a man is a man; so lets man do what man do best...

...done a uniform, invade other countries, rage war, kill other man (ups now it's mainly women and children), rape women, beat their children...

...and for Heavens sake get women out of Politics and voting so that the world ca be ruled by a
angry, testosterone driven male as it ought to be!

Anyway women are stupid and not half as intelligent as man so who needs all the clever things women have invented science someone opened them a way to education...

...and why let them go to school anyway; there're better of not learning how to read. The could develop their own opinion...

....brrr what a nasty idea women's rights, they should stay in the kitchen which is the best way for not getting raped in any case...

--------------
Enough kidding you're as bad as this Allen dude because your remark is rasistic; not against a minority but 52% of the worlds population!

Anon, I almost feel sorry for you because anyone uttering such complete nonsense is someone who is scared by the intelligence, endurance and power women have...

...Women don't have and won't have the physical ability of man but in all other areas they can very well match most mans skills...

...Get your facts straight before you do distort them!

...Hey by the way; brave thing to post your opionion as ANON!

i not scared of the intelligence, whatever you said that woman have. I am a business person, I run my own race, I work in a man's industry and earn 3 times as much as any man, not because i want to, because i have too.

but at the end of the day. i would rather it the other way around.

So you are a women who earns three times more as men do and if you should ever get raped you wont blame the guy who did it because it's your own fault to be smart, sucessfull and hard working...

Sorry but I can't get the drift and if you'll rather have it the other way around stop running your own show and don't say you would but you can't...

Some wo/men have thousands of reasons why they cannot do what they want to, when all they need is one reason why they can.

Now there will always be limitation to what men can do better than women or vica versa but only the fact that women bear children is not an impediment to having a profession and doing a job as good as a man would...

Note how a disagreeing opinion from Joanne Davis is met with an automatic assumption by Rancourt of this in "reality" as being from "Tim White".

Our theories and postulations that when some of his posts were deleted he would spiral deeper into his paranoia are very well supported by this and similar assumptions of his as of late.

When this evidence is coupled to events surrounding his behavior after finding that one of his detractors and critics had personal contact with this blogs owner, one can then easily see how his steep downward spiral into conspiracy thinking has accelerated exponentially.

This worsening behavior of his only further discredits anything he writes of or links to and our theories may now be considered as facts.

A recent science article reported that a gene contributing to brain evolution has been discovered. (Sorry, I cannot provide the cite on this at the moment, may try to post it later.) This gene is involved in the development and evolution of the neo-cortex of the brain. The neo-cortex is that part of the brain associated with higher thought processes and the organizing and executive functions. This part of the brain is still evolving and it is the last part of the brain to mature in human beings (around age 25).

Someday, if we don't kill ourselves off or stifle the development of our potentials by drowning them in flawed thinking and rigid adherence to role expectations, we may become free to fully realize and express the potentials of our awesome brains. We don't really know how nature intended us to be as a species, because we are still evolving into that potential. When the past predicts and holds the future prisoner we will be lost as a species.

Lighten up Joane Davis, and why on earth did you allow yourself to be baited into revealing your name (if that is your name). Why allow your bitterness that your life didn't work out the way you wanted to shape your thinking about what women ought and ought not to do or be? Why limit yourself?

And Waterflake, railing against the bigoted limited thinking by people who remain stuck in a, shall we say more neanderthal state of brain development, may be a waste of energy. Those people are out there and they will put their opinions and flawed reasoning out there. Some of them may try to run the show based on their limited notions and distorted urges. They may also represent a stage of human development that will disappear as our brains continue to evolve. And they may instinctively be fighting that encoded extinction. Maybe those folks are more to be pitied, ignored and eventually contained so they can't do any more damage.

Rabid Republican racism
By CHB Staff
Aug 23, 2006, 21:54

The question is not whether or not Republican Senators George Allen and Conrad Burns are racist. That's a given. What is a surprise is that it took people so long to find out.

"I knew George Allen when he was governor of Virginia," says Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean, who worked with Allen while Governor of Vermont. "He was clearly not suited for the job."

Anyone exposed to Allen for any length of time knows the Virginian, who openly displays the Confederate Battle Flag in his office, is a stereotypical white southern racist. At high-dollar private whites-only fundraisers in Virginia homes he calls Afro-Americans "niggers" and likes to tell racist jokes.

"I quit because I couldn't stand his blatant racism," says a former campaign staffer who asked not to be identified. "He's a bigot, through and through."

Allen added to his portfolio of racism recently when he slurred S.R. Sidarth, a native-born Virginian of Indian descent by calling him "macaca," which can mean "monkey" or even "shithead" to those familiar with insults to people of color. Sidarth, a volunteer campaign worker for opponent Jim Webb, former Secretary of the Navy under Ronald Reagan, is entering his senior year at the University of Virginia.

"This fellow here, over here with the yellow shirt, macaca, or whatever his name is. He's with my opponent," Allen said, "Let's give a welcome to macaca, here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia."

Actually, Sidarth should be "welcoming" Allen to Virginia. Sidarth was born in the Old Dominion. Allen was born in Los Angeles and, unlike Sidarth, is not a native Virignian.

Allen's obvious racism doesn't faze President George W. Bush who headlined a private, closed-door whites-only fundraiser for the Virignia Senator Wednesday night.

Not surprisingly, Allen's Republican racist cronies in Virginia jumped to his defense.

Salem Virginia-based Morgan Griffith, Majority Leader of the Virginia House of Delegates, claimed it all "just politics."

"Not many people in southwest Virginia would think it is derogatory," Griffith said. "I didn't have a clue what it meant, and I doubt Allen did, either."

In other words, Southwestern Virginia Republicans, Griffith says, are clueless as well as racist.

But racism is not limited to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwestern Virginia. You find it in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, home to another bigot, GOP Senator Conrad Burns.

In 1999, he referred to Arabs as "rag heads." He also likes to tell racist jokes and has been caught calling blacks "niggers" more than once. Recently, he got into trouble again for referring to his house painter, Hugo Reyes, as a "little Guatemalan" and suggested he was an illegal immigrant. Reyes, it turns out, is a naturalized American citizen and owns the painting company that is working on Burns' home in Virginia.

"I can self-destruct in one sentence," Burns once told supporters. "Sometimes in one word."

Racism is alive and well in the Grand Old Party - the political refuge of other well-known racists like Trent Lott and the late Strom Thurmond.

In politics, even Elizabeth Dole goes on the road to defend a rat
By Staff and Wire Reports
Aug 24, 2006, 05:50

In politics, party loyalty is more important than integrity, which explains why North Carolina Sen. Elizabeth Dole is on the campaign trail Wednesday in Montanadefending scandal-ridden Republican Sen. Conrad Burns, ignoring the Senator's latest slurs against immigrants and claiming that voting him out of office would be a "disaster."

Dole heads of Senate Republicans' campaign committee and that means she stands up and defends anyone, no matter how corrupt, as long as they fly the Republican banner. She there she was in Missoula raising money and attending public events with Burns, who is in a tight race for re-election against Democrat Jon Tester.

Tester's campaign this week released video of Burns referring to his house painter as "a nice little Guatemalan man" and suggested that worker as well as employees of a roofing company he hired might be in the country illegally. Burns campaign said the worker is a legal citizen and the senator never doubted that. They also said the worker, Hugo Reyes, is small in stature.

In a telephone interview, Dole called the flap over Burns' comments "A SILLY THING."

perfect post for now:

A huge oil tanker was built a couple years ago. Arabia contracted it. The ship
only has one motor but it has the thrust of seven 747 jets at full throttle. The
rudder weights something like 400 tons. It only has one gear, forward and takes
a half hour with calm seas to stop. It has a crew of 45, but could in a emergency
be operated and sailed by one man. The crew has a swimming pool by the way.
What is really amazing about this ship to me though is that it was ordered
by Arabia, build in North Korea, had engineers and ship crafts people from all
over the world, and the Quality control team were American, contracted by the
owners to do so. Imagine what we could do if we all came together and worked
to end cancer, AIDS, or ever world poverty. People miss my point all the time. I
am not really slamming political agendas because of who runs them, but because
I can see what we can accomplish when we lay them aside and I can see what we
waste when we toss them aside. We are more alike then we are different you know.

that kind of thinking and talking has no by means dissapeared or lessened where i live. most of it is behind closed doors or among those of similar bigotry.

in FL it is against the law to use the "n" word as a slur so it has been supplanted with "faggot" as the preferred ultimate redneck/republican insult.

an attempt to place that last insult in the hate crimes laws was roundly voted against by the republican state house here.

A perfect case in point to north florida racist thinking occured in a county seat near the GA border i used to live in.

Jeb and family arrived from miami for their 13 year son's little league playoff game with the local team. This was during the end of his first campaign for governor i believe.

When he came to bat, many, MANY locals in the stands shouted hispanic slurs at him, "go back to..." "spic" and so forth.

Freinds of Jeb's, wonderful folk.

The republican party vied for these voters and now have to deal with them and to the dismay of the more decent of them out there.

I'm still appalled by reality shows like "Survivor" using races pitted against each other. They control the game, give the psyche tests, pick the players, decide what Americans see on the TV. Never mind what BB All Stars is pulling. Have you figured out the extreme arrogance of a certain little gecko that mocks our citizens and children?

I read somewhere that it is part of the plan to get all the races and cultures pitted against each other (being carefully manipulated and policed by the same people). Stop be manipulated and see through the lies. People know the differnce between right and wrong...or else there would not be so many secrets, manipulations, or people trying to control and corrupt your life.

Does mankind, your country, all children benefit? Who does? What is the end game pay-off for them? Is peace a dirty word for them?

pride of their coming into this wild new world in 1715 and carving out an existence free of englands tyranny of scotland. the ones i wrote of earlier were the first settlers here where i am now in 1820, true pioneers and their enduring of the hardships they experienced that i can only guess at are commendable.

i have old records too including war time letters from the soldier grandfather to his wife, they are very beautifully written in the classical style and his last one is explicit that he feels his death near...which was known in 2 days after.

I also have slave titles from these people, some are for 14 year old or so girls that were kept in separate buildings for "pleasure".

I find no pride to be had there, just deep shame.
