"HOUSTON -- A finance professor testifying for the defense sought to rebut the prosecution's portrayal of former Enron Corp. Chairman Kenneth Lay as quietly shedding a large part of his Enron holdings while talking up the firm's prospects to employees and investors."

Subject: Who gets to bring Note pads in Court

Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 20:02:49 -0400

Dear Ms. Farley:

I am writing to inquire what the Judicial Department’s position is on bringing in note taking materials to our various Courts. I have practiced in many courtrooms, both state and federal and in New Jersey as well, and I was perplexed to hear that Judge Susco has no issued (apparently) an order that, “You can’t take notes here [in the courtroom].”

I understand that the COURT ORDER was directed at reporters, which raises considerable First Amendment issues for me. I expect the reporters from the papers I read to be able to “note” what is occurring in our courtrooms. As you know they are the “eyes and ears” for the public. We have a right to know what happens.

Needless to say, the judiciary’s track record the past few months has been disappointing to say the least. Opinions held back by the Chief Justice to help a fellow Justice get promoted. Denial of FOI status to what anyone who isn’t smoking dope would agree are administrative records, and now denial of the press and apparently anyone from taking notes in a courtroom. Wow! Some times I feel as though some time warp has occurred and we have reverted back to the cold war, lost it to the “Evil Empire” Soviet Union and our Constitution thereafter scraped for some “New World Order” called Corrupticut Law.

I wonder if the Court’s order was enforced up Prosecutors, and other government agents in the same manner as others.

Finally, if I were to go to one of your Courtrooms tomorrow and start taking notes, will I be in contempt of court?

The fact that you and your cohorts at the judiciary have not come out and immediately disavowed this outrageous and draconian order speaks volumes about the extent of corruption in Connecticut, “the land of steady habits” needs to be renamed “the land that eviscerated the Constitution.”

Please let me know as soon as possible, because I want to be able to go tomorrow and take some notes!

Sincerely,

Jim Brewer

WASHINGTON -

President Bush, who has been making staff changes at the White House to reinvigoriate his second term, was making another personnel announcement Friday

The vacant job of domestic policy adviser has not yet filled.
Other changes that have been expected included changes in the White House lobbying office run by Candida Wolff and the expected departure of communications chief Nicolle Wallace, whose husband recently moved to New York. Officials have also done little to discourage speculation that Treasury Secretary John Snow is leaving.

Good Morning Fellow Fitzers!

I thought this would keep us all "amused" today while we wait for happy tidings from our Glorious Leader!

Blogger Kevin Drum justifiably calls attention to something the first lady said on Wednesday. She told "CNN's John King that when [her husband] gave a nationally televised speech under a 'Mission Accomplished' banner on the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln three years ago, he only meant that the mission of that particular aircraft carrier had been accomplished."

It's true. Here's the transcript . She added: "We can look back and say, well, we should have done this, we should have done that. But the fact is, we are where we are now."

From WSJ, a chart of the the Gerbil Administration's staff changes:

Job

1.CIA Director
2 Chief of Staff
3.Budget Director
4.U.S. Trade Representative
5.White House spokesman
6. Deputy chief of staff for policy
7. Director of faith-based initiatives

Previously

1.Porter Goss
2.Andrew Card
3. Joshua Bolten
4. Rob Portman
5. Scott McClellan
6. Karl Rove*
7. Jim Towey

Now

1. T.B.A.
2. Joshua Bolten
3. Rob Portman
4. Susan Schwab
5. Tony Snow
6. Joel Kaplan
7. TBA

*Rove remains a deputy chief of staff, focusing on electoral politics

Now, the Gerbil may claim that Goss's departure is part of "organizational changes." But, I know that that is bull. Bottomline: Hookergate. And many more politican's name will come out from this scandal. The Gerbil will be yearning for the bottle more than ever.

Waterflake,

I believe so... The tpmmuker.com website knows Goss' involvement in the Cunningham/Wilkes requesting hookers for sexual pleasure... That website has ben spearheading on thier own to find the answers. The news media are not paying attention. You may not know that Rep. Duke Cunningham of San Diego, CA was charged for 7 years in prison for graft. Cunningham has ties to Tom DeLay. And now soliciting prostitutes... It is a mess, Waterflake, that is hard to keep up with all this corruption. Bottomline: the Gerbil Administration is a major corruption in certain politicans exchange political favors for a hidden agenda. That is why I said that the leak case is connected to other major cases such as Enron, DeLay, Cunningham, Abramoff, 9/11, Iraq, Saudias, oil companies, big businesses like Carlyle Group and Halliburton, and so on. All for oil and profits. That is why the public sink needs some serious cleaning!!!!
