Hi SPB - I've been actually signing my posts "Basheert" since I can't figure out how to register to be a regular.
My husband works in a trauma unit - and he remarked the last few times Bushie spoke publicly, that all the Trauma Docs took one look at his bobbleheading and declared he was ETOH on SOMETHING.
He's twitchy and he's spacey - he can't speak clearly - he was either heavily medicated or drunk as a lord (SMALL L).
Since he's such a long term drunk, it's doubtful that Corona gives him the buzz he likes - maybe at this point, he's using multiple substances? And a little something up his nose???

"HOUSTON -- The former Enron Corp. accounting officer who has been mentioned frequently by both sides in the conspiracy and fraud trial of the company's former top two executives won't be called to testify.
Prosecutor John Hueston said Thursday that Richard Causey, the energy company's former chief accounting officer, isn't be among about 10 witnesses the government intends to bring to as part of the government's rebuttal. He didn't disclose the witness list but told the judge that it won't include the former executive. Mr. Causey isn't on the defense's list.
Mr. Causey has loomed large over the case since he pleaded guilty in December to a single count of securities fraud and agreed to cooperate with the government. He had been a co-defendant in the current criminal case alongside former Enron Chairman Kenneth Lay and former President Jeffrey Skilling. His plea forced a two-week delay in the case.
In his plea, he admitted that he had "conspired with members of Enron's senior management to make false and misleading statements" about the company before its December 2001 collapse. As part of that plea, Mr. Causey agreed to forfeit $1.25 million and serve seven years in prison. The prison time could be reduced by two years for cooperating with the government."
I thought this was a very smart move by Hueston and Berkowitz not to ask Richard Causey to witness stand. Causey had plea bargained with exchange in testimony against Lay and Skilling. But, I think that Causey was the prosecutors' ace in a deck of cards in case the testimonies of Lay and Skilling were going in favor of the defense. Since Skilling's testimany fell apart and Lay's testimony was boring and going no where, and it is garbage time of the defense witnesses, I guess the prosecutors felt that Causey wasn't needed. Pretty good strategy by Hueston and Berkowitz!!!

"Why did you lie to get us into a war that caused these kind of casualties and was not necessary?" asked Ray McGovern, the former analyst, during a question-and-answer session.
"I did not lie," shot back Rumsfeld, who waved off security guards ready to remove McGovern from the hall at the Southern Center for International Studies.
With Iraq war support remaining low, it is not unusual for top Bush administration officials to encounter protests and hostile questions. But the outbursts Rumsfeld confronted on Thursday seemed beyond the usual.
Three protesters were escorted away by security as each interrupted Rumsfeld's speech by jumping up and shouting anti-war messages. Throughout the speech, a fourth protester stood in the middle of the room with his back to Rumsfeld in silent protest. Officials reported no arrests.
Rumsfeld also faced tough questions from a woman identifying herself as Patricia Roberts of Lithonia, Ga., who said her son, 22-year-old Spc. Jamaal Addison, was killed in Iraq. Roberts said she is now raising her young grandson and asked whether the government could provide any help.
Rumsfeld referred her to a Web site listing aid organizations.

They are the "yes'em" lapdogs and drones and allowing the Administration to run all of over them like idiots. And some of the buttkissing media and reporters need to be smacked into next week with their reporting of fluff news! True journalism was never this way thanks to the Gerbil crawling into the WH office for two terms and holding a title in which he stole not once but twice! Get back to the basics, media, or people like Stewart and Colbert will run all over you!!!
Is there anyone left in D.C. other than Fitz and team that has any courage? It seems journalism and politics have all gone to the crapper! It's time to bring back truth to the American people.

Watergate Subpoenaed in Hooker Probe

"I stopped by the Watergate Hotel this afternoon and chatted with Josh Graham, the assistant general manager, about the recent stories swirling around his establishment.
According to Graham, the Watergate has received multiple subpoenas in connection with the Wilkes Hookergate scandal. He went on to say that the hotel is complying with those subpoenas but that he couldn't discuss the content of the orders, nor could he discuss details of the investigation, "out of respect for our guests' privacy."
The Wall Street Journal had originally reported that investigators "had requested, and been given, records relating to the investigation and rooms in the hotel," but not that they had used subpoenas.
I put in a call to the Westin Grand -- the other hotel reportedly used by Wilkes to entertain lawmakers with poker, food, drink and possibly women. No one there could immediately confirm it had received similar subpoenas."

Pretty much anyone who has worked in either an ER or a major Level (I) trauma center can easily identify someone with "meds on board" whether it is PCP, meth, ETOH, or other stuff. It's not like they don't see it all the time -
Addicts exhibit certain specific characteristics. What came to mind specifically recently was Bush's address to that College group where he bounced all over the stage trying to form a coherent sentence and answer a question intelligably (and failed miserably).
He was jerking, laughing "inappropriately" - headbobbing .. giggling - in short, if he showed up in an ER, the FIRST thing they'd do would be run a tox screen to see what he had inside him.
ALL ER and trauma docs and nurses recognize this behavior - they see it 100 times a day. To anyone with any type of experience in an ER, he's a run of the mill substance abuser. His symptoms are the same as anyone who abuses and uses.
The fact that some people still find him amusing is tragic - he's a simple cheap drunk - but what he's drunk "on" I couldn't even guess.
Maybe he has Dr. Feelgood on staff?

Well it works - thanks SPB and others.
This is all new to me...but fun.
SPB - a question...where did "Gerbil" come from as a nickname? It's totally appropriate.
A few comments about Cheney. Apologies to those who are easily offended but having seen the sludge taken out of a variety of arteries, I wouldn't want to BE Dick Cheney.
Calcific plaque is a dirty yellow substance that clogs arteries uniformly within the body. The fact that he's had so many blockages indicates his disease continues marching to it's own beat.
I have wondered about his mental status as well. Aside from the plaque, he is on probably tons of meds in an effort to slow the disease process.
This may be the first time in recent history where the health of the Veep is a secret. It certainly seems like the people of this country have the right to a little information.
Last year he underwent bilateral popliteal artery bypass which indicates the popliteals behind his knees (both) were occluded. It is highly unusual to do both knees at the same time - perhaps an indication of how badly they were blocked.
My fondest wish is for him to wake up one day unable to move because his entire circulatory system is frozen shut.
Calcific plaque is NOT a clot..it's a sandy type substance and it does NOT dissolve with clot busters. These are NOT blood clots and are not responsive to blood thinners.

Sure, the 9/11 Commission worked very fast at putting together an investigation and not all answers are solid. But, too many of the conspiracy folks dabble into things which compromise their credibility.

This is indeed a sad state of affairs! (For those who need a foothold, try reality, but be careful! – that’s a shaky foundation too!) Well, then, let’s approach this the way a scientist would, and leave what is being described undefined. (All big scientific terms are left undefined, we are in good company.) That leaves us with description. That’s good. Reality gives us lots of description. (But so does imagination!) Good for us that reality is easier to verify-(measure) than imagination! What is the single, most universal aspect(description) about truth?
The truth is ALWAYS paradoxical, yet there are no true paradoxes.
We need an illustrative example. Let’s try WTC 7.
Was it hit by a plane? No. Was it destroy by fire? Yes, (in 7 seconds). Well, that’s certainly sounds paradoxical, doesn’t it? So it must be the Truth, right? Wrong.
