We are destorying our earth and soon children of the future will not see its beauty. The ice is melting and things will change because we didn't value this gift.
I plan on planting flowers and making sure I do my part as best I can. Pictures in books will be the only thing left for those to see earth before we messed it up. We still have time to do it right only if we do it together.

Mother Earth has given us so much and asked for so little in return. Now she is dyeing and we need to restore her to her pristine condition before it's too late. I have planted over 200 roses, many old garden roses, and through the beautiful flowers Mother Earth is giving me energy and helping me stay in touch with nature. It's beyond me how this government is neglecting Earth, our only home.

Fitz, Sir

If I may be so bold as to inquire where you found the Blue Marble. It is much nicer than the one I found tonight.

And might I add keep up the good work. Someone has to work the Dark Side and I'm honored to have you as my voice.

I love this blog and most of the people here (actually...I love the regulars and loathe the trolls). I have been lurking for several months and finally found a reason to create my first blog and blog entry. (You never forget your first and this won't be an exception.) I will spend Earth Day appropriately working in my yard, shaking the Texas (NO I didn't vote for Bush!) winter off, and preparing for a long dry summer! The Internet said today that a state up north (Wisconsin?) had five feet of snow and nowhere to put it! I’ll think of the snow as I bake in the heat, enjoying the perennial flowers I have gathered from those who have gone before me. Thanks for making this the place I visit first (and then often thereafter) every day! :-D

Yep. I just pray this earth reflects back its blessings on all. Including those like mrs. edmonds, mr. fisher, and mr. tice.

All the whistleblowers and people who strive to protect the bill of rights....they are out there. Nature, give them your strength and prepare them to win this war.

Mother Earth....we apologize to you
for those who have put their own
greed ahead of the good of the whole. We know that pollution hurts wildlife, but it also hurts
human life. We know that greenhouse gases hurt the ice cap and cause it to melt, endangering
wildlife and human life. We are sorry.....if only those responsible
were sorry, too!

As the world turns...

Rice may have leaked classified intel to pro-Israel lobbyist
April 22, 2006

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice leaked national defense information to a pro-Israel lobbyist in the same manner that landed a lower-level Pentagon official a 12-year prison sentence, the lobbyist's lawyer said Friday.

Prosecutors disputed the claim.

The allegations against Rice came as a federal judge granted a defense request to issue subpoenas sought by the defense for Rice and three other government officials in the trial of Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman. The two are former lobbyists with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee who are charged with receiving and disclosing national defense information.

Defense lawyers are asking a judge to dismiss the charges because, among other things, they believe it seeks to criminalize the type of backchannel exchanges between government officials, lobbyists and the press that are part and parcel of how Washington works.

From my hubby's poem he wrote 30 years ago in college...published in the literary magazine..his teacher said it was bitter..he felt it was truth...I don't have it just right but will write it on the blog when I find it.

His heritage is Choctaw and Cherokee and I have found his ancestors names in a roll book in the Museum of the Five Civilized Tribes in OK

"In the moon when the deer paw the earth
Proud Tribes perished for what it is worth
Babies cried for their mothers's breast
Chief's hearts bled for all the rest
Look back now and hide your head
White man now feel your shame
You bear the blame for tears they shed
Your people perish for what thay are worth,
You've tainted Mother Earth..
The Metal Lady cries out to Mother Earth help me save them for what they are worth"

The Indians have always had an amazing respect for Mother Nature.
My husband went on a fishing trip,
via seaplane, to a remote location
in Canada. The Indian guides would only catch/keep enough fish
to feed the fishing party, then would lay out the leftovers for the
rest of the animals. Why haven't we learned enough from early civilizations to keep human, wildlife and nature safe? TOO MUCH
GREED!

Because I can not resist a poetry thread... I was thinking of you Mr. Fitzgerald, when I wrote it.

Waking the Winter Soldier

Wake now Winter Soldier,
The Summer Guard has fled.
Our empire stands betrayed.
As they choose to die in bed.

Tyranny was born of us,
And caught the parent sleeping.
Amongst us grows a frightful roar.
That sounds like mothers weeping.

Winter Soldier please wake up.
From your long protected slumber.
Let go your dreams of better things.
And find safety in our numbers.

One if by land, is still the plan.
Our own borders now are haunted.
The old grow cold, the young grow bold,
And the innocent are daunted.

Winter Soldier wait no more,
Seize the day by the end of morning.
There is not time, to make it rhyme.
Stand and scream the warning.

From shining sea, to shining sea,
Let it be heard by We, the One.
May the Constitution live forever.
E Pluribus Unum is how it's done.

Winter Soldier, take freedoms torch,
And we shall meet in the amber waves.
Right past the screams, lay our dreams,
And those that made them slaves.

Grandmanuk,

Thank you for the warm welcome! I was thinking about how long I have actually been reading this blog and it has been more than 'just' several months. It was way back when Harriet Miers was being jilted at the altar. I decided to visit her blog this morning, and as is common with ‘surfing,’ ran across an article written in 1992 about the G. W. H. Bush family values, specifically the lack of values of his three sons. It’s a long read, but if you’re the sort who likes nightmares and looks forward to insomnia, it’s worth the time, trust me. Remember when 'all' the Rethuglicans had to worry about was Murphy Brown’s television character having an out-of-wedlock child? Those were the days. I’d die to return to such trivia. The article starts here:

In 1991, President Bush bristled at a flurry of news accounts that questioned the business ethics of three of his sons. "The media ought to be ashamed of itself for what they're doing," Bush complained. "They [the boys] have a right to make a living, and their relationships are appropriate," added a White House spokeswoman in June 1992. Since George Bush has raised "family values" as a campaign issue repeatedly, though, it seems only fair to take a look at his own family. Here is the link to the rest of the article:

http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/1992/09/bushboys.html

Don't get me wrong, I knew we were screwed, but after reading this article, I didn't realize the full extent of just how screwed we are. Dear God, he’s the POTUS! I won’t get a good night’s sleep until November!

To get back to the thread (sort of)...If you are in Wisconsin and wondering what the heck I was talking about with the five feet of snow, I…ummm…got the state wrong. The snow is in South Dakota. What do you expect from a Texan, anyway? Yep,that’s what I thought…

EmbarrASSed to be from Texas
*hanging my head dejectedly*

My Great-Grandmother was full blooded Cherokee. I heard many stories growing up, as well. How some of my ancestors, women & children, while crossing ice cold creeks in winter were shot & left to die in the water.
I will look forward to the entire poem.
Thanks! :)

There will be a march on D.C. with Veterans, military families and other supporters Saturday, May 13th.

Please pass it on.

The big blue earth looks so pretty, like Jackie said too many don't value it. Love the poems, the Indian poem touches my heart-no-money won't do when it is clean drinking water one requires.

Not to offend any of the men on this blog-as they are real men.

But- the other cowards that claim they are men?? The Scooters, the Dicks, the Dubya's, Ambramoff, Delay-the list is long throughout history, really... Feminism HAD to be "invented" because immoral men chose to follow other immoral men. NO guts to stand for what was right. Women challenged them on it-and they called her a "feminist". I call it the truth and drawing the line...the biggest losers in any war, are always women and children.

For Ira

Call me but a half-breed,
For that is what I am.
I carry the blood of the conquered,
And the kings who slaughtered them.
Say I am a savage.
I say, I am that, too.
Yet I was taught, was I not?
Can you see what is true?
Imagine I am human.
I think and feel like most.
Now, imagine I had a history,
What legacy shall I toast?
Call me Drunken Ira Hayes.
I'll not answer any more.
Not the whiskey drinking Indian,
Nor the marine who went to war.

Thank you Christy for winter's soldier and the others.
That's what a feel like a winter's soldier, I'm in my 60's, Irish, English and Cherokee blood.

I am in pain most of the time, if I let myself when I read, hear and watch what we are doing to this earth.

When I saw that beautiful picture of this blue and wonderous world, it was like a stab in my heart.

And Jackie you are right, pictures will be all that is left for future generations to see what was lost. Those generations will ask hard questions. If they are not living in religious totalitarian states of course.

I don't know what to do really, I sign petitions, send money, vote, raise my voice....???? I feel so powerless. Anybody else out there can speak to that?

Holy Hell Batman! WOW! I am utterly amazed at all that went on here today! West Pointe grads, CIA firing, Valerie Plame, Joseph Wilson, Scooter Libby, Dick and George, Condi Rice, Collin Powell, I know they weren't mentioned here today, but Tom Delay and Jack Abramoff and K Street, and we can't forget Rove, and the music...oh yes the music. I was relaying information about this Web site to my son who is a junior in college, and he told me I should listen to this song which was, according to my son, written three weeks after 9/11/2001: It’s absolutely haunting and takes you right back to 9/11. Oh it seemed so long ago and far away until I read and listened to this song. And all at once, we were back at the time when the planes weren’t in the air and ALL was surreal…but then there was Kartina and everything was surreal again…and I keep thinking, what next, what next? Thank God I can feel the masses’ eyes opening up. Thank you Mr. Fitzgerald and bloggers!

Frank, what's up man?

I'm just watching some bullshit
On the news. It's fucking bullshit
Reporters trying to a fucking win an Emmy.

Makeshift Patriot
The Flag Shop Is Out Of Stock
I Hang Myself at Half Mast

It’s the Makeshift
The Patriot
The Flag Shop is Out of Stock
I hang myself... via live telecast

Coming live from my own funeral, beautiful weather offered a nice shine
Which is suitable for a full view of a forever altered skyline
It's times like these I freestyle biased opinions every other sentence
My journalistic ethics slip when I pass them off as objective
"Don't give me that ethical shit."
I've got exclusive, explicit images to present to impressionable American kids
And it's time to show this world how big our edifice is!

That's exactly what they attacked when a typically dark skinned Disney villain
Used civilians against civilians and charged the Trojan horses into our buildings
Using commercial aviation as instruments of destruction
Pregnant women couldn't protect their children
Wheelchairs were stairway obstructions
I have to back petal...from the shower of glass and metal
Wondering how after it settles we'll find who provided power to radical rebels
The Melting Pot seems to be calling the kettle black when it boils over
But only on our own soil so the little boy holds a toy soldier..
And waits for the suit and tie to come home. We won't wait 'til he's older
before we destroy hopes for a colder war to end
"Now get a close up of his head"

Makeshift Patriot
The Flag Shop Is Out of Stock
I Hang Myself at Half Mast
”How does my hair look”

Makeshift Patriot
The Flag Shop Is Out of Stock
I Hang Myself at Half Mast
“Run that tape back”

Makeshift Patriot
The Flag Shop Is Out Of Stock
I Hang Myself at Half Mast
“Looks just like a movie”

It’s the make shift
The patriot
The Flag Shop is Out of Stock
I hang myself
“while the stock markets crash”

The city is covered in inches of muck
I see some other pictures of victims are up
Grieving mothers are thinking their children are stuck
Leaping lovers are making decisions to jump
While holding hands...to escape the brutal heat
Sometimes in groups of the three
The fall out was far beyond the toxic cloud where people look like debris
But all they saw after all was said...beyond the talking heads
Was bloody dust with legs looking like the walking dead calling for meds
but Hospitals are overwhelmed. Volunteers need to go the hell home
Moments of silence for fire fighters were interrupted by cell phones
Who's going to make that call to increase an unknown death toll?
It's the one we rally behind
He's got a megaphone...and he's promising to make heads roll
we cheer him on, but asbestos is affecting our breath control
The less we know...the more they fabricate...the easier it is to sell souls

(Man talking)
There is a new price on freedom, so buy into it while supplies last.
Changes need to be made;
No more curbside baggage,
Seven pm curfew,
Racial profiling will continue with less bitching.
We've unified over who to kill, so until I find more relevant scripture to quote,
Remember, our god is bigger, stronger, smarter, and much wealthier.
So wave those flags with pride, especially the white part.

We sell an addictive 24 hour candle light vigils in TV's
Freedom will be defended...at the cost of civil liberties
The viewers are glued to television screens
Stuck... cause lots of things seem too sick
I use opportunities to pluck heart strings for theme music
I'll show you which culture to pump your fist at, which foot is right to kiss
we don't really know who the culprit is yet...but he looks like this
we know who the heroes are. Not the xenophobes who act hard
"We taught that dog to squat, how dare he do that shit in our own back yard!"
They happened to scar our financial state and char our landscape
Can you count how many times so far I ran back this same damn tape?
While a camera man creates news and shoves it down our throats on the West Bank
With a ten second clip put on constant loop to provoke US angst
So get your tanks and load your guns and hold your sons in a family huddle
Because even if we win this tug of war and even the score...humanity struggles
There's a desperate need of blood for what's been uncovered under the rubble
Some of them dug for answers in the mess...but the rest were looking for trouble

Makeshift patriot
The flag shop is out of stock
I hang myself at half mast.
(3x)

It's the makeshift
The patriot
The flag shop is out of stock
I hang myself.
Don't waive your rights with your flags.
