I came here because I have 'standing' to speak to the issue of so-called pedophilia, love/sexual desire for children.
I am what becomes of a sexualized child.
I define a child as anyone without secondary sexual characteristics...hair in the axilla and the genitalia. Armpit hair and hair between the legs is a sign of sexual maturity, ability to reproduce.
In the western tradition, we extend childhood in order for the brain to catch up to the body's development. We extend childhood through laws...for the purpose of allowing children to develop their judgement and skills for entering into and maintaining relationships. That's my opinion.
I am a survivor of child molestation by a priest and men.

In seventh grade I attempted suicide and ended up in the local ER.

Grown-ups were upset with the molesters because they manipulated and "groomed" a child, robbed them of their innocent. It is the hardest thing to do to break a cycle, healing and understanding the cycle is even harder. But then, I don't speak from the courage of sexual abuse survivor. I'm an adult child of an abusive alcoholic and I married one that only abused with his mind. it took me years to figure out how to stay ahead of the manipulator. Amazing the traits survivors can recognize when the Resident gives a press conference.
