"After years of listening to calls for a federal investigation into the Chicago police torture scandal that allegedly ran from the 1970s into the early 1990s, U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald announced Wednesday that his office is engaged in a criminal investigation of the matter.
Without using the names of former Chicago Police Cmdr. Jon Burge or the detectives who worked under him, Fitzgerald said his office would look into whether any of the officers lied under oath or obstructed justice as part of the civil litigation resulting from allegations that police tortured dozens of suspects."

About a month ago, at a library, after a pleasaant conversation about the Renaissance in Italy. A man gave me his card and requested that we meet for dinner. At my departure into a cab, the gentleman took my hand, brought it to his lips and kissed my hand...saying...'ciao bella'.
As the vehicle left, I started crying. My driver asked if that man hurt me. I said no.
I spent a whole hour in therapy discussing the matter. I spent time with my parents talking about it.
I will not ever communicate with him again. I won't go back to that library, for a good while.
Fortunately, Chicago has excellent libraries everywhere, and the InterLibrary Loan system will get me whatever I want, wherever I want.
